【Bible Study】Proverbs 03: Trust in The Lord with All Your Heart, and Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

Bible Study: Proverbs

Introduction

Hello everyone! Today we`re going to study Proverbs chapter 3, also known as the Book of Wisdom, and that's where we all want to make people wise. There are many people in the world who are very stupid. Where does people's stupidity come from? They thought they are right all the time. The most terrible thing is that people follow their inner feelings, and they are very sure of what they think, and in the end, they become very stupid people.

We come to Proverbs chapter 3 to see if that's the case, and I'd like to talk about one more thing throughout this chapter.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on you rown understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.(Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV)

The title of today's chapter is " Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding."

Why should we rely on the Lord with all our hearts? The reason is very simple, everything in this world is under the control of God, and your life and everything you have is under the control of God. As long as man pleases God, all other problems can be solved easily. Many people have come to a very miserable environment, and they are still cursing God and saying, " God, why is this happening?

If you ask, " Does God control ghosts? What a ghost wants to do is, they have to go to God to ask for instructions. Not only do you have to ask God for instructions, but God often arranges for ghosts to do things. Some people will ask, " Is this the worst kind of angel? " Did you know angels and ghosts were created by God? Think about it, the God we believe in, He established the earth with wisdom and fixed the heavens with wisdom.

Some time ago, there was a news broadcast in Singapore about the problem of people living in an estate. If you live in real estate and want to move to a new place, do you know how difficult it is to move? The person met a bad neighbour who was mentally ill, standing in his yard every day and scolding the street loudly. He said, "Can you control me in my yard?" This kind of thing makes people very upset. Some people have children in their homes who want to study, and they hear such scolding every day, and it is not easy to call the police to take care of the situation. The police are also very impatient when they encounter such a madman making trouble.

I think some people will encounter this kind of thing, and some people will not, and the people who encounter it are very unlucky. You cannot control how long you live or die. Because our God is in control of everything. It's best for people not to encounter these things, if you encounter them, it will make you upset. If you trust God with all your heart, can God take care of these things? God can handle it, but you must acknowledge Him in all you do, and He will direct you in the right way.

Honour God with wealth and first-fruits

Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.(Proverbs 3:9-10,NIV)

When people ask, what are you living on? People's thirst for money is straightforward, but people don't like to live poor lives. Some people say, "I rely on the Lord God, and I live in poverty." No one wants to live a poor life, but many people like to rely on themselves.

There is a pastor who shepherds more than 40 people. I am very envious of him. I asked a few questions and said, "How many of the forty or so people on your side have made offerings? He said, "There are two people who have made offerings. "I said: "You have more than 40 people and only two donations?" Later I found out that he made dumplings for people and more than 40 came. Usually, there are only seven or eight people at the prayer, and more than 40 people come to make dumplings.

When I first believed in the Lord, there was an old Christian who taught me a class, and he talked about offering as soon as the lecture started. When a person who does not believe in the Lord suddenly starts believing in the Lord, some people will talk to you about money as soon as possible. At that time, my income was below the poverty level in Singapore, and people called us low-paid workers. God gave me wisdom and things were resolved in my hands. Know that it is not my wisdom, but God who has opened up His wisdom. As time went on, I became more and more convinced that giving was the cause of blessing.

Some time ago, a sister wanted to sell her house and asked me if she could sell it. I just said: "If it is suitable, you will sell it, if it is not suitable, you will not sell it." I tell everyone to never rely on their money. There was a real estate businessman who failed, the project was stuck there, the money was not coming in, and his child was still studying in the UK. I told him to pray, and the next day someone walked into his office and bought it for 290,000. That 30,000 was what God asked him to offer. In the end, I contacted him again and told him, "The extra 30,000 yuan you made was given to you by God." He said, "What about my debts?" I told him “Go ahead and repay the debts!"

Why don’t you honour God with your money?

Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.(Proverbs 3:9-10,NIV)

Later, God blessed him with another two million. After having two million, he did not give offerings. Don't you see that all these things he got were blessings from God? Why did he not thank God even though he was blessed by God? Are you fully trusting in Jehovah God, or are you fully relying on your human wisdom? You must know now, why you should always rely on God. It doesn't matter whether you are wise or not, honouring God with wealth and first fruits is a very wise choice. What our God has in his hand is money, and He blesses whomever He wants.

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, "Come back later; I will give it tomorrow" when you now have it with you. (Proverbs 3:27-28)

The "Bible" teaches us not to trick people. In the New Testament, the "Bible" makes it a lot easier to understand. If he is thirsty, you give him a drink (see Matthew 25: 35). If you are bored and have nothing to do, don’t go to the street to throw away money, that is not called doing good, that is called stupidity.

There was a sister among us. She didn't have enough money to spend every month, and she had to raise a child. At that time, I told her ruthlessly that apart from relying on God, there was no way to escape poverty. Most people wouldn’t do that, but our sister listened to my words and paid lots of tithes. After paying 160 yuan for tithing, she has 1,400 yuan left. Now she is rich, and often helps people and participates in the ministry. You need to know that our God is rich and that those who trust God must have a rich mentality.

I have been talking for so long and I am still talking about the first point, which is to honour the Lord with wealth and first fruits. "Doing good deeds" is giving, basically money and wealth. I never give money to any charity, I don't know what they are doing. How do you know you're doing good by giving money to those charities? If I want to give money, I will give it to those around me who are more knowledgeable, but should we pay people's gambling debts and drug debts? No, You can help him eat, but don't help him pay off his debts.

Do not despise the Lord's discipline

My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the som he delights in. (Proverbs 3:11-12, NIV)

If you do bad things, and God doesn’t care about you, you wouldn’t go to heaven. Some people don’t care how many bad things they do and those same people will have bad luck the next day, the retribution will come right away.

Everyone should know what it means not to despise God’s discipline. When God disciplines you, you begin to gradually build up a God-fearing heart. God often gives us three chances to turn from our wrong actions, but some people just don’t take it. A person who despises God's discipline and is tired of Him is the most foolish ever!

Your pastor disciplines you and rebukes you, isn't that wonderful? If you don’t know how to reflect on yourself carefully, you will be blamed by your pastor instead.

People must always reflect on themselves! For the one whom the LORD loves, he disciplines, just as a father rebukes the son whom he loves. A few years ago, there was a sister whose company lost a bunch of money and she was in a lot of debt. Not much of what she remembered in her head was the truth, but she felt that what she remembered in her mind were all facts, but she didn't know that what she remembered in her mind was all lies from the devil.

Sometimes people are so stupid that after being disciplined by their parents, they feel muddled. To be honest, they felt that their parents are not their biological parents, and they felt that they must have been brought up wrong. The people on the streets don't care about you. Those people have nothing to do with you, nothing at all, don’t get into trouble with them. It's utterly stupid to judge whether people are good or bad.

When I was at home, my parents beat me up once and I was in awe, but I knew that they loved me. But for some children, their parents beat them and they start thinking that their parents are not good to them. Some people developed persecution paranoia, and some people developed the mentality of a victim. It's not that I do more work or less work, it's that my parents love me very much, and I love them very much.

If you still refuse to change, and your mouth is full of complaining, you feel like God has made a mistake, and you are always right. You will be ruined for the rest of your life.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on you rown understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.(Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV)

If you want to be a wise person, the first is to honour God with wealth and first fruits; the second is to not despise God’s discipline.

Do not be wise in your owne eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. (Proverbs 3:7, NIV)

When you read the Bible, you should see that some things are said to be done, and some things cannot be done.

Do not let kindness and truthfulness leave you.

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the teblet of your heart. Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3:3-4)

These are all images of God, who is full of love, mercy, and faithfulness. Therefore, on the way to imitating God, we must not let honesty and loving-kindness leave us. Then you will find favour and understanding in the sight of God and the world. Our love for God will be reflected in our loving image to others. God will cause us to be favoured in his presence, and even in the presence of the world.

Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you. Do not accuse a man for no reason when he has done you no harm. Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways, for the Lord detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence. The Lord's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of righteous. He mocks proud mickers but gives grace to the humble. The wise inherit honor, but fools he holds up to shame. (Proverbs 3:29-35, NIV)

Why do people do these things? It's because they lack love and honesty! If there is a lack of love and honesty in a person, how can God make your name great? It’s fine if God doesn’t make you notorious, but how can you gain favour in front of the world? Living in the world, in relationships with people, if people think you are a quirky person, how do you mix in with society? If a person is loving and honest, but also wise, God will lead your way, and it will be easy to live.

Abraham was very kind in his conduct and deeds, and the people around him honoured Abraham and called him a great prince. But it's not just honesty, you will become stupid after you learn honesty. Without wisdom and knowledge, honest people will become fools! With honesty and love, God will make your name great on the earth, and make you honourable, favoured, and wise before the world. Don't think about harming people all day long, and don’t trick people, it's not wisdom.

Keep true wisdom and strategy

My son, perserve sound judgement and discernment, do not let them out of your sight; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disater or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared. (Proverbs 3:21-26)

Everyone must know that true wisdom and strategy is to rely on the Lord God with all your heart. All you have to do is trust in the Lord with all your heart, and not depend on your understanding. In the New Testament, Jesus said, don't worry about what to say, the Holy Spirit will tell you what to say (see Matthew 10:19).

When I was a child, my mother often said: The river that should die in the well will not die, and the well that should die in the river will not die. You just have to rely on God, because you can’t protect yourself anyway. You walk and you don't know in which step you're going to get caught in, you don't know where the snare is. Just acknowledge God in all you do, and God will direct your way. Don't be an eccentric person, don't be a person who relies on his intelligence.

It is good to trust in the Lord with all your heart! God knows everything. My son, keep true wisdom and counsel and do not take her from your sight. If people don't want to live, what are they doing? If people don’t care much about the matter of living, and leave the matter of living to God, many problems will be solved.

Summary

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commandments in your heart; for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. (Proverbs 3:1-2, NIV)

Remember God's laws, God's commandments for you. For God will give you long days and peaceful life. You will say, "How do you learn this?". I will tell you how to learn, you must imitate Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. If you learn to imitate them in your life, you will benefit a lot in your life. Learn how other people react to things, and then see how you react to things.

Sometimes, some brothers and sisters among us are very confused. Even though Joseph was sold to Egypt by his brothers, Joseph did not hate his brothers! These brothers and sisters among us have reacted violently just because of what others said to them. Are these the laws and commandments of God? Some people rely on Jehovah God, while others rely on their wisdom and strength.

It's best to figure out that you're a small-minded person, and then you can change it! In the end, it can be calculated whether or not you are relying on God, or whether or not you are relying on your intelligence. Isn't that what you planted yourself?

Today, I will tell you that a selfish person is difficult to change from one of my pastoral observations. Because selfish people never feel selfish. Selfish people are hated by God and cursed by God.

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commandments in your heart; for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. (Proverbs 3:1-2, NIV)

If you want to live well, trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your understanding; If you ask me who is the most powerful, they are all powerful, but the most powerful is Joseph. Joseph's heart is great, Joseph's heart is great! We can't imitate it all our lives.

May God bless you all!
