【Bible Study】Proverbs 15: Being Able To Talk Is Wisdom

Bible Study: Proverbs

Hello everyone, today we will study Proverbs 15. Many years ago I had a very good friend who listened to everything on our website. One day, he contacted me and said, "Do you still remember me?" Of course, I remember him! After he realized that I had remembered him, he was very happy. It is crucial to be able to talk well. After I talked to him like this, he received something good and was built up. If you tell him some concepts of Mingding ministry, he says he has already known this. Such talk will be very easy for both of us.

After many years, he said to me that he used to listen to every sermon I did, but now he couldn’t. Why? Because on our website, there are a lot of things I taught. What are the things I say? I say things that build up people, I did not make up these things, rather I got them from the Bible. If you follow me and finish studying Proverbs, you will become very smart, why? Because Proverbs teaches wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, and it teaches you how to stay away from evil and foolishness.

If someone lives well or badly, it all relates to these things. You can see how a person is by what they say. So Proverbs 15 talks about the wisdom of speaking. Some people's words will only make people hate them. When I talked with my mother, I talked to her very nicely so my relationship with my parents was very good. You have to learn how to talk. Learning to speak is a kind of wisdom. It helps you to keep a good relations with people around you.

One time when I ate out with my mom, she asked me, “How much money will this cost?” Do you know how to answer such a question? She is my mother and I have to maintain a good relationship with her. I can’t say, “You old woman! All you care about is spending my money!” If I say this, it will end badly. But instead, I said, “You're my mother! Why can’t I spend the money I made on you? Who else can I spend it on?” She was very happy and replied, “Of course! You are my son. Who will spend your money if I don’t? You will never run out of money anyways!”

When I was in university, I lived far away from my parents. But that didn’t matter. Whenever I came home, my mother would buy wine, sausage, and eggs. Then we would eat, drink and talk. Our relationship was really good. My mother was very lucky to have a son like me. When she was sick, I prayed for her and she was healed. All in all, it is very important to be able to talk well.

A gentle answer turns away wrath. Violent words provoke anger. The tongue of a wise man is good at giving knowledge. The mouth of a fool spits out folly. ("Proverbs" 15:1-2)

Wisdom and knowledge are closely tied together with the things you say. Learn to talk well and reply to people nicely.

The eyes of the Lord are everywhere. He observes the wicked and the good. (Proverbs 15:3)

When you observe, you should observe what they say. Whatever you say, God knows and writes down, then you will be judged by it. If we rationalize what we say every day, many things that we think we say are very reasonable, but to others are fool. Some people just like to talk nonsense, and out of nowhere they want to make some trouble, this is foolishness.

See how good my sermons of Proverbs are? You guys should study with me and learn how to talk well. Even if you have any problems and you come to talk to me, I will help you. Don’t be stubborn or easy to be angry, if you do this, little problems can grow bigger.

A fool despises his father's discipline. He who receives reproof receives insight. (Proverbs 15:5)

Some kids cannot take discipline. When they are disciplined, they always ask themselves if they were adopted by their parent. This is foolishness. One can not say these bad things to their parents. You were not born with the ability to make money or make food for yourself. It was your parents who raised you. Children are not allowed to get angry at their parents or judge them.

I knew this from a very young age. That's why when my father scolded me, I knew it was a good thing so I immediately recognized what I did wrong and changed my behavior. My father saw that my attitude was very good so he stopped beating me. The things that come out of your mouth are very crucial. I hate those who fight against their parents. Frankly speaking, I don't like to serve such kinds of people. I always take a deep breath so that I don’t let out my rage. If I judge them and get angry, they won’t listen to what I say. Then all I did was in vain. So we must remember this:

A gentle tongue is the tree of life, but a perverted mouth breaks the heart. A fool despises his father's discipline, but he who receives rebuke gains insight. (Proverbs 15:4-5)

Parents should not have a heart of glass. After hearing a few words from their children, their hearts will be broken into glass pieces all over the ground, and they will be put down immediately. For example, the mother can say: Son, I know, I have to improve as a mother. Your child will change their attitude. Did the problem become simpler in an instant? But if the mother gets angry and asks: "What do you mean? pardon? pardon?" It just makes the situation worse. Slowly the son will talk just like the way his mother talks because he learned from his mother.

Clean your mind so that you can learn to speak.

In the house of the righteous, there is much treasure. The wicked gain, but are troubled. (Proverbs 15:6)

Let's not be foolish, those who can talk will not lack money or are poor. If you observe, you will see that jobs that require talking a lot also pay a lot. In the Bible, those who can speak are like this too. So you must learn to be wise and talk well.

A mocker seeks wisdom but finds it not. Knowledge is easy for a wise man. come before a fool, and find no knowledge in his lips. (Proverbs 15:6-7)

When we pray, we need to get God to like us and favor us more. If you pray like this: Lord, my pastor is so poor that we need to offer sacrifices so that he can get out of poverty. God will get mad, he doesn’t need money. Do you think he is poor? Do you think your offerings will make him or his servants rich? No, do not have this heart when you offer money. God does not want you, and I don't want you either. If you offer with a good heart, you will be greatly blessed by God. I don’t care if you want to give an offering or not, it's your problem if you don't want to be blessed. I feel very bad that some people don't want to be blessed and would rather walk in the wrong way and be cursed.

We need to pray like the righteous so that our offering will be pleased by God. When we come before God, we should say: "All I have received is grace, and I should give all that I have. God? May you have mercy on me! Accept my offering." And also don’t say like this: “God! Why is it that after I became a Christian, I am living worse than I was before?” If you talk like this, God will be annoyed and hate you.

The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD. He loves those who pursue righteousness. Whoever forsakes the right way shall be severely punished, and whoever hates rebuke shall die. (Proverbs 15:9-10)

If someone scolds you and your reaction would be to hate or despise them, then I don't know how to teach you. What you think in your heart will affect what you talk in your mouth. If you talk and think normally in your heart, you will walk the right path, but if you hate someone, the words you say will be crooked and the path you walk will also be corrupted. Whatever path you take is all a part of your choice. If someone thinks using God’s mindset, you will please God. If you have worldly logic, God will be very angry at you.

Therefore, if Christians do not know God, it is a tragedy! People who do not know the knowledge of God often think that what they say is good, such as: Although God treats me like this, I still have to believe in Him; even though God does not heal me, I still have to trust in Him. Talking as if God has betrayed you, isn’t there something wrong with that?

Hades and destruction are before the eyes of the LORD, how much less the hearts of men. (Proverbs 15:11)

God knows everything that humans think in their hearts. You can not hide anything from God. In the spiritual world, what you think in your mind is transparent. One time I was casting out demons, and I asked the people I was serving to repeat after me: In the name of Jesus Christ, I command the horny spirits step down. But he couldn't say it.

It felt very strange to me that he couldn't say. But when you ask him to say: Praise the Lord in the Name of Jesus! He can say it very fluently. So after I served him, I thought about this very deeply. I realized that what I thought was transparent in the spiritual world. Demons know what I thought in my mind.

Learn to listen, then learn to speak

A mocker does not like to be blamed, nor does he approach the wise. (Proverbs 15:12)

How can some people go to hell by just messing around? A mocker doesn't listen at all. Because he always thinks that he is right and very smart. Before honor, there must be humility, and one must never be self-righteous. It's always best to think that you're not getting it right and that you need to get it right. God sits on His throne to see if anyone seeks and understands.

Some people often say to their shepherds, “pastor, I did not experience God a lot. You don't understand my situation.” What kind of nonsense is this? She was freed from the devil so many times by us, how many more times does she need to experience before she can change the logic in her heart?

Joy in heart and smile on face. The heart is troubled, and the spirit is wounded. A wise man seeks knowledge. A fool eats foolishness. (Proverbs 15:13-14)

Your heart needs to seek knowledge. You need to let the knowledge of Jehovah fill your heart like water fills the ocean, and then we will know how to speak. Just say what Jesus Christ said, and you will live a very good life! That’s why we set our minds on turning everyone into people who know God. If you know God, wisdom will fill your mouth when you speak.

We need to know that the words that come out of Jesus’s mouth are spirit and life, and the words spoken by the devil are also spirit, but they are corrupt. If a person speaks with eloquence as soon as he opens his mouth, he must be corrupt. Those are human's wisdom. Those who say such things are ignorant, and we must change them.

The days of the afflicted are sorrows. Those who are happy in the heart often enjoy a feast. (Proverbs 15:15)

Difficulties are caused by people themselves because there is no knowledge. People without knowledge are bound to be miserable.

It is better to have little treasure and fear the LORD than to have much treasure and be disturbed. It is better to eat vegetables and love each other than to eat fat cows and hate each other. An angry man stirs up quarrels. He who endures anger ceases strife. The way of the lazy is like a hedge of thorns. The way of the upright is a smooth highway. (Proverbs 15:16-19)

We must know to understand money and see through money. If we place God and money on the scales, which would weigh the most? I'm sure that many people think that money is heavier. Many people believe that eating delicious food is very important. It is better to eat something light than to eat delicious food. It is more important to be able to love each other.

A wise son makes his father happy. A fool despises his mother. (Proverbs 15:20)

A lot of people are rude and unreasonable in their own homes and still think that is okay. If you write down what you say one by one and review them one by one, you will find that you are full of ignorance.
If one can learn to speak and get rid of all this ignorance, they will receive a lot of grace in their life, because there is knowledge in it.

The ignorant delight in foolishness. A wise man walks with integrity. (Proverbs 15:21)
Respond well, consciously, and joyfully. What a beautiful thing to say. (Proverbs 15:23)

When I was young, I worked in a company. The boss at that time told me something that impressed me: People who can talk are smart, but smart people may not be able to talk. As soon as I heard it, I made up my mind to learn to speak. When a person has the knowledge and strategy, when cooperating with others, there are a lot of discussions. Then we can benefit from each other's strengths and make up for each other's weaknesses. Isn't that wonderful!

The wise man ascends from the way of life and keeps him from the grave below. (Proverbs 15:24)

The way of life means speaking here. You cannot talk the way of life with your eyes, you cannot talk the way of life with your nose, you can only talk the way of life with your mouth.

Evil schemes are an abomination to the LORD; good words are pure. (Proverbs 15:26)

If the words spoken by a person are pure, it is wonderful! So we must train everyone to trust in God and speak well.

The heart of the righteous ponders an answer, but the mouth of the wicked utters evil words. (Proverbs 15:28)

What is thought in the mind will be said by the person. Brothers and sisters, we have to think carefully if what we say is right. Did you say it after thinking it through your head or are you just talking nonsense? If you only talk nonsense when you open your mouth, it will just annoy people. Why can't you talk well?

The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayers of the righteous. (Proverbs 15:29)

A righteous person does not mean his good deeds, but a person who trusts in God is called a righteous person.

A bright eye cheers the heart; good news refreshes the bones. (Proverbs 15:30)

I used to serve a brother who was going blind, and I said: "Brother, did you know that whenever I pray for a blind person, they are immediately healed?" Actually, it was not easy like that. But when I told him that, he was very confident. I said: "You are blessed to meet me, it is God's plan for you to meet me." Actually, at that time I had never prayed for someone with blind eyes, that was the first time. But it was a declaration of my faith. I was in despair when I saw that he was about to go blind. But the most important thing I had to do was to rebuild his confidence. As a result, when I prayed, his eyes were healed! Also, to those who have cancer, I tell them that it is a small problem, and I say: "Our church has all kinds of diseases, and everyone will be healed." I am very confident when I talk! Those who have such faith are righteous in the eyes of God.

Develop the good habit of humility

A bright eye cheers the heart; good news refreshes the bones. He who listens to the rebuke of life shall remain among the wise. He who forsakes discipline despises his own life, but he who listens to reproof gains wisdom. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; before honor comes humility. (Proverbs 15:30-33)

Everyone should develop a habit of humility. For example, when getting along with parents, you should often say: "Mom and Dad, although I have failed your training, I will work hard, please help me. How nice does that sound?

There was also another sister who had headaches from a very young age. But the church she was in just didn’t solve her problem. When she was in China, she saw her mom praying with me. Then she asked if I could pray with her for her headache. Her headache disappeared after praying.

Then she asked me a question: "Pastor, I have requested the help of many famous pastors. But my headache persists." I told her: "Those pastors leave after they pray. But I will stick to the end once you find me." This is my style of serving! Everyone I train is like this too.

He who listens to the rebuke of life shall remain among the wise. He who forsakes discipline despises his own life, but he who listens to reproof gains wisdom. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; before honor comes humility. (Proverbs 15:31-33)

I discovered that human diseases are closely related to evil acts. If someone came to me with cancer, can I talk nicely about his illness? No! I have to tell him the word of God!

All the words of the law written in this book are to make you fear the LORD, the glorious and dreadful name of your God. If you do not obey, the LORD will bring unforeseen disasters on you and your descendants, the greatest and longest plagues, the heaviest and longest sicknesses, (Deuteronomy 28:58)

**If cancer is not a curse, then what is it?**I won't say nice things, I'll just tell him that it's a curse. But some people denied that this was a curse, and said that I was cursing them. I really don't understand what they are thinking in mind. As a cancer patient, you are already living under the curse, and yet you are afraid that I will say something bad? Before you can speak, you have to be able to listen! I’m not telling lies, I’m not talking nonsense, and I’m not going to tell you that cancer is God’s blessing in disguise.

If I said so, God may give me such a "blessing" I don't want. But many pastors just say this. So they get these terminal illnesses. If you can listen to God and also listen to people, and if you can talk to God and talk to people, then that’s a very good thing. If people are trying to do good for us, why should we be angry at them? Don’t be a fool.

Evil schemes are an abomination to the LORD, but good words are pure. (Proverbs 15:26)

God’s words are good because God's words are spirit and life. I want to bring life to people, and I want to preach God's way according to God's image and according to God's words. So do you understand? Don't talk nonsense! Be careful because God might give you one of these curses. If you want to learn to speak, you have to start by listening.

God wants us to have a good life, God wants us to prosper, God wants us to be able to speak, God wants us to speak words of blessings. God wants us to pass on His words, God wants us to bring life to others and bless them also.

Summary

People have to learn to speak, do you understand this yet? Don’t you have to speak when you go to an interview, or do a job, or do sales? Why can’t you talk? As long as you start to learn to speak with your mind, you can learn! Let me give you some faith, there is nothing wrong with your head. And there is nothing wrong with your IQ either! It’s just a matter of putting God’s words in it!

It is just like when you buy a phone, the software must be installed properly. Otherwise, the phone will overheat, and if you take any calls, it will burn your ears like a microwave. If we put God’s words in our minds, we will be able to speak well.

May God bless you all!
