Today's Topic: God is Restoring What Was Lost!

Recently, God has been doing many amazing things among us! I am personally very surprised by God's wondrous acts. In the past two Wednesday Bible studies, many brothers and sisters came up to share their testimonies. In the past two Fridays, there were also many testimonies. Last Wednesday, we couldn't even conduct the Bible study because people were coming up one after another to testify. And by Friday, just two days later, there were more testimonies. I think we need to speed up the updating of testimonies on our website! Many haven't been posted yet. Last night, during our Bible study, after it ended, Sister HY approached me, saying, Pastor, my legs are very uncomfortable and are being released. Knowing that Sister YX was busy, I directly led Sister HY in prayer, and in 5-10 minutes, she was fine. Afterward, I saw Sister Zhang Chao asking if I was available. I contacted her, and she was feeling weak all over. I led her in prayer, and in a few minutes, she was fine! This is truly an exciting generation! It is as if God is manifestly with us! God is working among us!

If we carefully examine those testimonies, depression, anxiety, studies, work, deafness, poor eyesight, feelings of dejection, weakness all over, being bedridden, failing businesses, insomnia – these are all situations where people have reached rock bottom, situations of despair. I tell you, God is restoring His glory in you!

The past five years – a history of restoration!

I thank God because He gave His Son Jesus Christ, giving salvation, so that human lives have the opportunity to turn around! There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved in times of despair, only the name of Jesus Christ. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved! Amen!

Brothers and sisters, we were originally meant to live glorious lives, but in the world, we lost ourselves, lost our glorious destiny, and became the living dead. Every time I think of those unbearable days before knowing God, I thank God! It is God who has restored the glorious life we were originally meant to have! I know that your situation has not been fully restored yet, but the work of restoration in you has already begun. Just watch, at this rate of restoration, you will surely live out God's wonderful plan for you in the years to come! Wonderful indeed!

I thank God for giving me the opportunity to participate in His wonderful work, to be a vessel used by Him, to be a blessing to everyone. But what I long for even more is that all of us become a blessing to this generation! Amen!

Sister WQ among us has come out of despair step by step. She said to her childhood playmate, Sister TT, who shared the gospel with her, With such good news, why didn't you tell me sooner? Sister TT replied, I told you earlier, but you wouldn't have believed it! Truly, people are so foolish; they only come to know God when they have exhausted all other options. Every time I think of the days before I believed in the Lord, I regret not knowing the Lord until I was 28! If only I had known the Lord sooner!

Sister RW, in New Zealand, shared the gospel with her mother. Her mother's health had not been good, but she was very skeptical, Is it really that miraculous? Why not come and see! In fact, many people are in this situation! I boldly tell you, it really is that miraculous! God is truly God! If one cannot know God in this life, if one cannot serve God in this life, if one cannot participate in building a glorious church, that is the greatest regret in life!

I look forward to God doing amazing things every day! Our God is an amazing God! I look forward to even more exciting things every day; our God is the God who gives us an exciting life! Let His name be glorified through us!

Whenever I see the things in this world, I am deeply moved. How can people not know how wonderful and exciting it is in the Lord Jesus! Last week, I was eating in a small shop in Taipei, and there was a TV on the wall showing a human tragedy: a child's mother, with her 4-year-old child, suddenly someone rushed out and killed the four-year-old child right in front of her! My God, how will this mother live in the future? When I saw it, I lamented, why don't people hide in the Lord Jesus? These tragedies can be avoided, but people insist on going their own way. These people are still asking why God is so unfair, why He allowed this to happen. Our God is also surprised that you are unwilling for Me to protect you, and then blame Me when disasters happen. Our God is very surprised!

Our world today seems to be in trouble. There are problems everywhere. Disasters can happen at any time. I thank God that not only has He transformed many people's lives through my hands, restoring the glorious image they were originally meant to have, but also in these past years, He has shielded me from many disasters. In fact, I don't want everyone to be unaware that although I cannot prove it to everyone, I am very clear in my heart that if it were not for the Lord Jesus bearing my sorrows and carrying my pain, I don't know how many disasters I would have had to bear myself in these past years! I give thanks every day, telling myself that my life is given to me by God, I will live for God! I will hide in Him and never leave! Not only that, but I will also continue to pursue, to know my God more, so that God can further restore His glorious destiny in me! Because I know that God is restoring what we have lost!

What you have lost in the past, God will repay today! Don't wait any longer; quickly, quickly let God restore what we have lost! God wants to restore the glorious life you were originally meant to have! Amen!

Let's look at today's scripture.

Scripture: Joel 2:25

Joe 2:25 I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the hopper, the army of locusts I sent among you.

The Context of This Passage

Joe 1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel son of Pethuel. Joe 1:2 Hear this, you elders; listen, all who live in the land. Has anything like this ever happened in your days, or in the days of your ancestors? Joe 1:3 Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation. Joe 1:4 What the locust swarm has left the great locusts have eaten; what the great locusts have left the young locusts have eaten; what the young locusts have left other locusts have eaten. Joe 1:5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you who drink wine; wail because of the new wine, for it has been snatched from your lips. Joe 1:6 A nation has invaded my land, a mighty army without number; it has the teeth of a lion, the fangs of a lioness. Joe 1:7 It has ruined my vines and broken down my fig trees. It has stripped off their bark and thrown it away, leaving their branches white. Joe 1:8 Mourn like a virgin in sackcloth grieving for the betrothed of her youth. Joe 1:9 Grain offerings and drink offerings are cut off from the temple of the LORD. The priests are in mourning, those who minister before the LORD. Joe 1:10 The fields are ruined, the ground is dried up; the grain is destroyed, the new wine is dried up, the olive oil fails. Joe 1:11 Despair, you farmers; wail, you vine growers; grieve for the wheat and the barley, because the harvest of the field is destroyed. Joe 1:12 The vine is dried up and the fig tree is withered; the pomegranate, the palm and the apple tree—all the trees of the field—are dried up. Surely the people’s joy is withered away.

Why do people live such miserable lives? Why did God send these insects to devour these things? Because people want to live small, self-centered lives. Because people are short-sighted and pursue pleasure. Joe 1:5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! Wail, all you who drink wine; wail because of the new wine, for it has been snatched from your lips. This is the prophet Joel seeing the people being self-righteous, living their own small lives, and openly opposing God. They are God's chosen people. God has a glorious destiny for them, but people simply don't want it! They insist on living their own small lives. As a result, they live very miserably! In fact, that time was not just one or two years; it was many years!

God said through the prophet Joel:

Joe 1:13 Put on sackcloth, you priests, and mourn; wail, you who minister before the altar. Come, spend the night in sackcloth, you who minister before my God; for the grain offerings and drink offerings are withheld from the temple of your God. Joe 1:14 Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the temple of the LORD your God, and cry out to him.

Joe 2:12 “Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Joe 2:13 Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. Joe 2:14 Who knows? He may turn and have pity and leave behind a blessing—grain offerings and drink offerings for the LORD your God. Joe 2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Joe 2:16 Gather the people, consecrate the assembly; bring together the elders, gather the children, those nursing at the breast. Let the bridegroom leave his room and the bride her chamber. Joe 2:17 Let the priests, who minister before the LORD, weep between the portico and the altar. Let them say, “Spare your people, LORD. Do not make your inheritance an object of scorn, a byword among the nations. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”

When people's thoughts and minds change, and they have suffered disaster, their hearts turn back to God, they begin to learn to return to God with all their hearts, they begin to live a life centered on God, they begin to pray, to fast and pray, to gather together, then:

Joe 2:18 Then the LORD was jealous for his land and took pity on his people. Joe 2:19 The LORD replied to his people: “I am sending you grain, new wine and olive oil, enough to satisfy you fully; never again will I make you an object of scorn to the nations. Joe 2:20 I will drive the northern army far from you, pushing it into a parched and barren land; its eastern ranks will drown in the Dead Sea and its western ranks in the Mediterranean Sea. And its stench will go up; its smell will rise.” Surely he has done great things! Joe 2:21 Do not be afraid, land of Judah; be glad and rejoice. Surely the LORD has done great things! Joe 2:22 Do not be afraid, you wild animals, for the pastures in the wilderness are becoming green. The trees are bearing their fruit; the fig tree and the vine yield their riches. Joe 2:23 Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the LORD your God, for he has given you the autumn rains in faithfulness. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before. Joe 2:24 The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and oil. Joe 2:25 I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten—the great locust and the hopper, the army of locusts I sent among you.

After repayment, we read again:

Joe 2:26 You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed. Joe 2:27 Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the LORD your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.

Material satisfaction is a small matter; God also wants to:

Joe 2:28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Joe 2:29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. Joe 2:30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. Joe 2:31 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

Originally, God did not want us to live an ordinary life. That is the life of being filled with the Spirit of God, restoring our meaning of living, our vision and mission of living. That is the life full of miracles and wonders, preparing for the day of the Lord's return!

Isn't this our situation today?

God Wants to Break Down the Wrong Myths Within Us

People want to live well, but they don't live well. People want to live in enjoyment, but they don't enjoy it. People want to have money, thinking that with money, they will live happily. As a result, they are even more unhappy. Why is this so? It is because people have violated the laws of life! What are the laws of life? It is that what makes people live is the Spirit!

Sister YC's husband listened to YC, but was unwilling to believe. Sister YC came to me, Pastor, can you talk to my husband? So I video-called her husband. Of course, my own feeling was that he had his own set of ideas. After we said a few polite words, I cut to the chase and said, You want to have money, right? Yes, I dream of it. But do you have money? No! I then asked, Do you think that with money, you will live well? He said yes. Then I asked him, Do you think those rich people, and I gave a few examples of rich people who had fallen from grace, are they living well? No! Then what will happen if you continue down this path? Without money, it's nothing special. With money, it's nothing special either.

Brother DS among us started doing business when he was young and became a multi-millionaire. As a result, did things get better? His wife was bedridden for 9 months, his business declined, and his cash flow ran into problems. What happened?

This is a myth. A myth of our times. Thinking that money can give us security. Thinking that money can make us happy. Thinking that living is for money. This is the spirit of Mammon deceiving people.

What Mammon promised us has all failed! Mammon cannot give us, but God, the God who loves us, can!

In the days of the prophet Joel, the Israelites liked money and liked living small, self-centered lives, and the result was very painful! Who caused the Israelites pain? It was our God!

Today, Brother Zeqiang among us is experiencing the distress of being chased for debt, and Brother Dashou is also being forced to sell his factory to pay off debts. Who caused them to be like this? It is evil spirits. Who allowed evil spirits to ruin them? It is our God! Because if it were not for this, they would continue to deteriorate and live in myths. Even after experiencing these things, it is still unknown whether those wrong myths would be completely broken down! I hope they all wake up and realize that the wrong myths within them have harmed them greatly.

I encourage all brothers and sisters who are experiencing hardship, you are blessed! Because you are experiencing the glorious life that God wants to restore in you! I also encourage those brothers and sisters who are living quite well, do not fall into the trap of living small, self-centered lives that provoke anger just because you are living well! Don't wait until God sends a large army of locusts and cankerworms to devour everything you want! While there is still now, start thinking about what the prophet Joel said!

Turn wholeheartedly to God! When you turn wholeheartedly to God, He will, according to the Book of Joel, restore to you an abundant and glorious life! It will be difficult not to live well! This is a spiritual law! If you have a modicum of sense, you will see it clearly!

God Wants Us to Turn to Him Wholeheartedly

God wants us to turn to Him wholeheartedly, not because He cannot live well without us, but because He loves us and is anxious when He sees us not living well!

People either live a life centered on themselves or a life centered on God! Living a life centered on oneself results in calamity. Living a life centered on God results in prosperity and goodness! There is no one who does not receive a hundredfold in this life and eternal life in the age to come.

I received a WeChat message a few days ago: Pastor, I just want to live an ordinary life. The meaning behind it is profound. What he meant was, I don't want to be a remarkable Christian. My heart grieved! What is living an ordinary life? A child being killed in front of his mother, that is an ordinary life. Do you want that? Many people in hospitals with tubes inserted, half-dead, that is an ordinary life! The world is full of all kinds of calamities every day; those are ordinary lives! Seeing those without blessings, struggling, numb, and empty people every day, that is very ordinary. Isn't this kind of thinking the same as those Israelites who encountered calamities? They all wanted to live ordinary lives! I said, Okay, go live it! I let him go! I will never bother with him again! I let him go, but how could the devil let him go? Even if the devil let him go, our God would not let him go! Only his wife will suffer! May God have mercy!

I find it strange that he doesn't want prosperous days but wants ordinary days. I really find it strange! It's like not doing a million-dollar business and doing a hundred-thousand-dollar one, not doing a hundred-thousand-dollar one and doing a ten-thousand-dollar one, not doing a ten-thousand-dollar one and doing a hundred-dollar one. Might as well not do it at all.

There's a crosstalk about a fabric seller. Lowering the price, lowering the price, might as well give it to you for free!

This brother doesn't even think about it; which of us who closely follow the Lord Jesus is not prospering?

It is the spirit that gives life! Whoever grasps this spiritual law prospers and is healthy! I will grasp this spiritual law tightly for the rest of my life and live according to God's Word! I don't want to live an ordinary life; I want to live a prosperous life! I want to be a blessing to all nations and peoples on this earth! God will surely be pleased with me, and God will surely fulfill my desires! Today, what God is doing in our midst, what everyone is witnessing, is God's response to my desires! That is an extraordinary life! That is a glorious life! That is a wonderful life!

I think there are still many people trapped in such confusion. How many people are desperately grabbing many things but not grasping this treasure of life! Use the unrighteous wealth of this world to make friends, so that when the wealth is gone, they can enter into the eternal dwelling places!

There was a brother whose family had many problems. After sharing with us, we told him to read the Bible carefully and pray with us. As a result, one day, he suddenly told us, I feel so much pressure following you like this! I'd better go back to the free and easy church in our village. Anyway, no one cares about me there; no one cares whether I read the Bible or not. I was thinking, hasn't he been a believer there for many years? He is willing to pay the price to watch TV but unwilling to pay the price to believe in the Lord!

When I was an engineer, I didn't like being an ordinary engineer. When I was an IT manager, I didn't like being an ordinary IT manager. When I am a Christian, I don't like being an unblessed Christian. When I am a pastor, I don't like being a pastor who doesn't please God. I certainly don't want to be a pastor who provokes God's anger! It turns out that my idea is not something else, but God's original intention! God originally wanted you to prosper; as long as you dare to think, God dares to accomplish it! It's not what I can do, but what God does in us!

We could have lived out God's glory, but because Adam ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he lost the glorious life!

Adam's life in the Garden of Eden was so wonderful! If we were still in that state today, how well we would live! Work would be efficient without pressure, and our bodies would emit glorious light…

Genesis chapters 3 and 4 talk about how Adam ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Once he ate it, he lost it! Don’t think that God wants us to lose it; God wants to restore it! The first thing is to restore a life centered on God! Turn wholeheartedly to God!

What is a life centered on God? The first thing is prayer! Prayer is the key to living a good life!

God Wants to Restore Our Life of Prayer

When Israel lived in misery, God didn't say, Go do more business. Because that was not the root of the problem. God didn't say, Go plant more land, read more books, get better grades, because those were not the root of the problem. Because the root of the problem was a spiritual problem.

Everyone must remember! I have said it again and again, but you must remember: The root of all problems in life is spiritual. When the spirit prospers, everything prospers!

So the prophet Joel said:

Joe 1:13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.
Joe 1:14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord,
Joe 2:12 Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
Joe 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Today I want to tell you that God wants you to know where the path of life is. God's Mingding Destiny for us is a glorious destiny!

Brothers and sisters, have we rent our hearts? No need to rend clothes! What is rending our hearts? It is breaking down the wrong mindsets within us!

Don't misunderstand! Your problem is not money, not medicine, but a spiritual problem! When we begin to pray and begin to break down worldly concepts, God will surely restore our material abundance!

I thank God that our God is the fire that consumes earthly offerings. He will not tell you to empty yourself of all desires, because when we get up tomorrow, all kinds of expenses need to be paid. Being without money is really hard!

If I am preaching a gospel of suffering today, you don't need to follow me. If I am preaching a gospel of poverty, you don't need to follow me. If I am preaching a gospel of sickness, you don't need to follow me. But I am preaching a gospel of receiving a hundredfold in this life and eternal life in the age to come! That is a gospel of spiritual prosperity, a gospel of all things prospering, a gospel of bodily health!

God Wants to Restore Material Abundance

Joel continues:

Joe 2:18 Then will the Lord be jealous for his land, and pity his people.
Joe 2:19 Yea, the Lord will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:
Joe 2:20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.
Joe 2:21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things.
Joe 2:22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.
Joe 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
Joe 2:24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.

How good is such a life! You don't want it, but I do!

The key to living well lies in the spirit! When our spirit prospers, then all things prosper, and our bodies are healthy!

You must ask yourself, is your spirit prospering? Are you living an ordinary life, or are you living an extraordinary and glorious life?

God Wants to Restore Our Vision and Mission

Brothers and sisters, I don't want you to be unaware that a life without vision, without dreams, without pursuit is a dim, gray life! When God created man, He knew that man's highest state is to live out his Mingding Destiny and live out his mission!

Have you all heard of Maslow's hierarchy of needs? If you haven't, you need to know that people's needs are of many kinds. There are five levels. Some people live at a lower level.

This is not Maslow's invention; it is the law of man that God established when He created man! If you don't know it, you are very pitiful. If you are doing business, if you are doing customer service, if you are selling financial products, if you are selling medical equipment, you must know this. (All marketing books mention this law!)

God has also prepared this grace for us!

Joe 2:27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Joe 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
Joe 2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Do you know? The most beautiful gift God gives us is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit! The outpouring of God's Spirit brings something incomparable! When God's Spirit is poured out, you will receive vision and receive a mission! Those who receive it will live out the meaning of life!

See clearly what God is doing in our midst!

This is the generation for the Chinese to take on their mission.

Come out of emptiness! The meaning of our lives is precisely in eternity! Faith, hope, and love remain forever.

God Wants to Restore Our Identity as Sons

In fact, what has been said before is not the most fundamental; the most fundamental thing is who you are.

Someone asked me, who are you? I am Samuel. Who is Samuel? If you keep asking like this, I will collapse! I am who I am! This still doesn't answer the question.

There is a little lion…, then there is a voice…You must know who you are! The lion is the king of the beasts!

The Bible says this: Luk 3:38 Which was the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.

You must know for sure that you are a son of God! This is the most glorious Mingding Destiny that God wants to restore. Excavate the potential within, restore the ability to learn, restore creativity, restore the ability to work.

Restore the attitude of being human, restore the noble image of man, restore the image of God's sons.

There was a sister who went for an interview. She thought in her heart, I am a daughter of God, I am talented. It's not that I need this job, but that this company needs me! As a result, she did very well in the interview and got the job!

You must know for sure, Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Brothers and sisters, a job is nothing, money is nothing; we are children of the living God, we lack nothing! Brothers and sisters, we must completely come out of the world. No longer be slaves of the world, but begin to enter God's house and be sons of God!

Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
Rom 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Rom 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Although we are sons of God, when we are still in this world, we are subject to this vanity, earnestly awaiting the day of our Lord's return! Prepare the way for His return! That is a great and terrible day!

God Prepares the Way for Him Before the Day He Comes

You and I are children of God, our prayers will shake heaven and earth, and God will show wonders in heaven and on earth because of our prayers! The miracles we experience today, the healings we experience, are just the beginning!

Joe 2:30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
Joe 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come.

1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
1Co 15:51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1Co 15:53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Conclusion: Live Out the Glorious Mingding Destiny That God Wants to Restore in Us!

Isa 60:19 The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
Isa 60:20 Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Lord shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.
