Introduction
Back then, many said that God is unknowable. I think that Old John must have encountered this problem. If he had not encountered this problem at that time, he would not have emphasized it so much. When we carefully read the Gospel of John, you will find that the Gospel of John is very spiritual. We can examine that Old John wanted to express a theme: The faith in Christ Jesus is a faith of revelation, and the faith in Christ Jesus is a transcendent faith. God wants us to know Him very much, and to know God's work through the Holy Spirit, which is what Old John wants to express with all his strength. In the days of Jesus, the Holy Spirit not only revealed to him about God, but also told us these things through Jesus.
Therefore, the Christian faith must be prophetic, a revelation of the future. Today, we still have a widespread perception that God is unknowable. Today, I want to say definitively that in the Christian faith, God is knowable because we have the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit will lead us into the truth. When we examine this passage of the Bible, we must know what Old John wants to express as the key point.
I Have Told You These Things
I have told you these things, so that you will not stumble. They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when their hour comes you will remember that I warned you about them. (John 16:1-4)
Actually, in the days of Jesus, Jesus also said: I have told you these things. So what is the purpose of telling us? It is to keep us from stumbling. Jesus wanted to tell us what would happen, that people would put you out of the synagogue, and the time would come when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. When I dealt with the spirit of the dragon some time ago, I discovered one thing: the spirit of the dragon is at work in the church, and people with the spirit of the dragon have several characteristics: these people shout Hallelujah very loudly, and they can say anything about thanking and praising the Lord, and they can sing worship and praise songs, but these people think they are serving God, but in reality, they are trying to get rid of the people who truly belong to God. Anyone who kills you will think they are serving God. This is very interesting.
In the days of Jesus, he had already described the problem that Old John encountered. What he described was that the church was in a state of self-destruction. At this time last year, our church also seemed to be in a state of self-destruction. The brothers and sisters in the church were very strange. They thought they were serving God, and I thought I was serving God, but there were two different voices. These two voices seemed to conflict and oppose to a certain extent, and seemed to be in an incompatible state. Who is serving God?
When I pray for others, I always add: How I serve you today, how you will serve others in the future. The mutual love that Jesus speaks of must be taken seriously. Surface-level service is not acceptable, even serving your boss in the workplace, surface-level work will not work.
Believing in the Lord is very simple. You either be a resounding Christian, implement it step by step according to the Bible, or don't do it. You will find that those who kill you think they are serving God. If I don't tell you these things, you will easily stumble. You must be a tumbler, whether you fall or not is your choice.
They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. I have told you this, so that when their hour comes you will remember that I warned you about them. The most important thing in building a church is to deal with false brothers. Don't think that Christians are guaranteed, the water content of Christians is actually very high.
I Did Not Tell You This at First, Because I Was with You
At this time, Jesus must tell you, and in the days to come, he must also tell you, why didn't he tell you at first? Because Jesus knows which is real and which is fake. Jesus knows people's hearts, so they can't deceive Jesus, but they can deceive us, so we must be vigilant and not be deceived.
The Gospel of John has long told us that He went to the Father and bestowed the Holy Spirit to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Of sin, because they do not believe in me; of righteousness, because the Lord Jesus went to the Father, he has accomplished salvation, and those who believe will receive it. Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged (see John 16:8-11). The world has long been judged, and this gospel is a victorious gospel. Next, you can live a victorious life. You must learn to believe, because only through faith can you solve the problem of sin. It's not what you do, but because the Holy Spirit is doing carving work on you.
Jesus Wants to Reveal Everything to Us
How much revelation can you bear? Jesus told his disciples:
“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. (John 16:12)
The Holy Spirit intercedes for you according to God's will. The most in need of repair is when you first believe in the Lord, but at that time, people least like to be repaired.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. (John 16:13)
The best thing about the gospel of Jesus Christ is this gospel of revelation. When I was young, I wanted to die because I felt that living was meaningless and every day was the same. After believing in the Lord, there are new revelations every day, and there is progress every day, because knowing God is endless. When you know God, you will find that our God's name is called Wonderful. The Christian faith is a faith of revelation, and everything in the Bible is the Father saying things about us, and He will reveal it to us.
The road our church has taken is the road of revelation. For example, the first verse of the first chapter of Genesis is the most wonderful revelation. I searched all the information and I was not satisfied. I think God not only wants to tell me that He created the world so simply, there must be better things in it. So I knelt down and prayed and received God's revelation: First, man was created in God's image; second, man often experiences a state of emptiness and chaos; third, God's Spirit moves, and when man opens his mouth to declare, things will be accomplished.
The Holy Spirit Will Surely Lead You into All Truth
All readers know that the first chapter of each book is very important, you must read it carefully. How important is the first sentence of Genesis? It is really God who revealed to me that he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Brothers and sisters, today we must desire to be a praying person, to seek, and the Holy Spirit will surely lead you into the truth.
The Holy Spirit leads you into the truth and tells you the things to come. When you read carefully, you will find that this is not about the past, because people who only live in the past are easily entangled in discerning good and evil, but people who live in the future like revelation.
Glorifying the Lord Jesus Through His Revelation to Us
...and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you. (John 16:13-15)
God gave the Lord Jesus the victory of salvation. What God gave to the Lord Jesus, He gives to us, which is entering Mingding Destiny. What Old John speaks of is that the Holy Spirit will surely tell you about Mingding Destiny. Therefore, we must know that we have Mingding Destiny, and those with Mingding Destiny certainly live better than those without it, and they do not get entangled in anything.
Although it cost the Lord Jesus His life, He did not lose His Mingding Destiny. They can take your life, but they cannot take your Mingding Destiny. You must have the thought that whether living or dying, you must not lose your Mingding Destiny. Because we come into this world to fulfill the Mingding Destiny given by the Holy Spirit to the Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit reveals these things to us. When you enter into Mingding Destiny, you will discover:
In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me. (John 16:16)
The disciples did not understand what the Lord Jesus was saying. When a person does not understand these words, they are in a state of lacking revelation. Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. (John 16:20)
What else in this world is better than this? A person goes from despair to hope, from unbelief to belief, from having no Mingding Destiny to having Mingding Destiny, from having no revelation to having revelation. This is victory. Christians must never live a bland life. A person's life must be lived brilliantly, with every moment having a vibration in life, and this vibration will turn into joy. Sorrow turning to joy, this is called victory, and people will forget the bitterness.
So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. (John 16:22)
When you see the Lord Jesus with your own eyes, no one can take away your joy. The wonder of God is that His understanding of life far exceeds ours. When God does not speak to you, you must rely on faith. On that day, you will ask nothing. When God does new things, He needs people who dare to do new things. He does not need rigid people. The yeast of the Pharisees is rigidity. The people God uses are those who do what that generation dares not do.
In that day you will ask in my name, and I am not telling you that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father. (John 16:26-28)
What does this verse mean? God is for the satisfaction of human joy. He satisfies whatever you ask for. If you ask God for the nations, He will give you the nations as an inheritance. Do you dare to ask? So God says, Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. God asks us to seek His kingdom because His kingdom has many wonderful things that satisfy our joy.
You must thirst to follow God because God is a God who does new things. Every time you do new things, every breakthrough in your life, your joy can be satisfied. So brothers and sisters, do not constantly repeat old things every day. Even in the workplace, you can still do new things every day, and you will be very joyful. Those whose joy cannot be satisfied will be very entangled. When a person lives to this level, God will say, I will no longer speak figuratively, but I will tell you plainly that I have overcome.
This is a victorious gospel, and whether or not we are victorious depends on whether we believe. If you believe, your joy will definitely not be lacking. Christianity has the highest happiness index. If you do not know what happiness is, come and taste the gospel of Jesus Christ. He says:
Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life... I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)
The Lord Jesus has overcome this world, so we have peace within us. You will all leave, leaving me alone, to complete the greatest innovation the Father has ever given Him—resurrection from the dead. He was nailed to the cross, bearing all our sins, and rose from the dead, entering into victory. Victory is won in this way. So what if I am left alone? I will still walk this victorious path.
I persevered for five years, and finally sorrow turned into victory because He has prepared for us a victorious path. Because even if the Lord Jesus is left alone, He will still walk the path of victory. The Lord Jesus is the example we should follow, and we should follow Him step by step. If you want to stay in this church, you must be a disciple of the Lord Jesus. Because what God wants are victorious people like Jesus, whether living or dying, you must learn to be victorious, because victory is what God has already accomplished for us, and you only need to claim it by faith.
God has already prepared victory in our lives. You only need to believe, choose to continue running, no matter how hard, no matter how difficult, you choose to persevere, persevere again, and victory is in sight. I know you will be tired, you may indulge the flesh, you may feel like you cannot persevere, but when you cannot persevere, there is only one thing, which is not to be sorrowful. Even if you cry, you will feel very relieved after crying. After being relieved, gather the faith within and continue to run forward. The road ahead is the road of victory, and victory will bring joy that cannot be taken away.
