【Sermon】The Ability to Endure Hurt

2019-03-24 5,851 Sermon

Introduction

My summation after years of ministry is this: hurt, heal, then hurt again, then heal again. Those who have hurt me are often those I have shown grace to, individuals who have experienced transformative changes. The hurt cuts deep, but my capacity to bear it has grown, becoming bulletproof today. The pain is real during these times of hurt; I recently experienced it. Why does misfortune keep finding me? If one were as frequently wounded as I am, and unable to recover, it would be devastating.

I once ministered to a mother and son. The son was failing in school and unemployed. I spent three solid days helping him craft his resume—a real headache! I also coached him for interviews, and he eventually landed a good job. Yet, my reward was his constant opposition. Later, he left the church and even spoke ill of me behind my back. I truly don't understand his motives. Another sister was on the verge of a miscarriage. I ministered to her, and now her child is healthy. She, too, left the church and spread gossip about me. It truly hurts.

A thousand good deeds undone by one bad one—that’s ingratitude. I thank God for using these years to filter out true treasures. Watching those who serve God alongside me today deeply moves me, for they have embraced Mingding Destiny and are running with me on the path of serving God. Today, we can minister to so many difficult cases because of this company of brothers and sisters with Mingding Destiny, standing by me, and together we have embraced Mingding Destiny to serve God.

Some say, I, too, want to embrace Mingding Destiny. I ask, Do you even know what it is? They often don't. If you aspire to have Mingding Destiny, prepare to pay the price, prepare to be hurt. Strengthen your capacity to endure pain. In the church, I intentionally and unintentionally create opportunities for brothers and sisters to practice, to build their capacity to endure and recover from hurt. We must emulate the Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul. For the path Jesus walked, we must also walk.

Each time I read Paul's epistles, they deeply resonate with me. What can separate us from God's love? Is it the sword? Is it hardship? Is it nakedness? Truly, nothing can separate us from God's love. If you are determined to be a person of Mingding Destiny, you will undoubtedly be hurt. We have the ability to bear hurt because in Jesus Christ, we freely receive grace—a gift we do not deserve. Is it not then reasonable to endure some hardship?

Scripture

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people. All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads. “He trusts in the Lord,” they say, “let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.” (Psalm 22:1, 6-8)

Prayer

God! May you help us, that as we embrace Mingding Destiny, we may emulate Jacob, Joseph, and the Apostle Paul. No matter the hurt we suffer, may you make us able to bear it, for we are determined to follow you, to follow you no matter what! Strengthen us, so we may truly embrace Mingding Destiny, running towards the goal you have set before us. Amen!

Background

Psalm 22 was written by David. Many find this passage difficult to understand. I am a worm and not a man—what had happened to David? Later, after Jesus Christ came, many quoted this scripture. David, in his time, must have suddenly been transported in spirit, seeing Jesus Christ crucified. This is God giving us His only begotten Son. Why would God forsake Him? Because He would bear our curses. What He endured is beyond human comprehension. Today, when many of our brothers and sisters pray, their ailments vanish—where do they go? Onto Jesus.

Today, we must be grateful. God's act is Jesus Christ bearing our pain and carrying our sins. Our God offered His only begotten Son. He could not bear to witness Jesus Christ being crucified. Every afflicted person who comes to me for healing, I thank my God. My most oft-repeated phrase is, By Jesus' stripes, we are healed—not because I am some divine man, but because of what Jesus Christ accomplished for us, unprecedented and unmatched. This is what David saw in a vision.

If we fear hurt or rejection, we cannot become a divine man. If you seek to be a divine man, it is not difficult; simply emulate the footsteps of Jesus Christ. I have come to realize that those with Mingding Destiny are few, while those seeking grace from God are many. If you are among us merely seeking benefits, I pray you receive them; but the greatest benefit is Mingding Destiny.

Those with Mingding Destiny Have the Capacity to Endure Hurt

We are blessed because of Mingding Destiny, not destined for blessing. If the latter, you cannot persevere. Even if you are hurt or rejected for the sake of Jesus Christ, it does not matter; that is Mingding Destiny.

A person with Mingding Destiny has the capacity to endure hurt; this is a divine man. Do not solely expect grace. The greatest grace is Mingding Destiny. If you truly have Mingding Destiny, become a divine man today, capable of bearing any hurt, paying any price, for we have seen through the affairs of this world and no longer hold expectations of it.

Some outwardly appear to love God, but deep down, they love the world. When their core interests are threatened, they reveal a different face. Paul was hurt and rejected by the Corinthian church, a church he had established and served for a year and a half.

I say this to my shame, that we were too weak for that! But whatever anyone else dares to boast about—I am speaking as a fool—I also dare to boast about. Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I. Are they servants of Christ? I am out of my mind to talk like this. I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without

## God Tests and Sifts His Treasures

God is sifting us, testing us, to extract gold from the sand. Joseph was sold off right after sharing his visions; Jacob, having just received the blessing of the firstborn, was about to leave home with only a staff in hand. If we do not experience the death of Jesus Christ, how shall we experience the power of His resurrection?

> Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. (2 Corinthians 12:10)

I was deeply hurt a few days ago. Someone entrusted her house to me, and despite my exhaustive efforts in renovating it, she was unhappy because she felt the renovation cost a bit too much. What exactly are our core interests? This is a small matter, but it is also a test from God. Some people’s money is truly untouchable. I hope that after these experiences, we will not lose our initial love.

> Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. (Matthew 24:7-13)

In Revelation, God says, “Do not lose your first love.” When serving, I dislike labeling people. But today, with the increase of wickedness, the love of many grows cold. People should not take themselves too seriously. We who serve God are but worms. “Worm” refers to the serpent; when Jesus was lifted up, it was like Moses’ bronze serpent. When Jesus was hung up, He said, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” This is very painful, but Jesus called Himself a “worm.” What more can we say? Do we still need to discern good and evil?

Some say,How can I bear it? Then how do I bear it? God is not only examining me but also sifting me. It is not important how we see ourselves; what is most important is how God sees us. Jesus only regarded Himself as a worm. Why do people need to discern good and evil? With this, a thousand goods are ruined by one fault.

If we are people with Mingding Destiny, we will not be hurt by the world's discernment of good and evil. Why do some people have so many illnesses? Because discerning good and evil attracts demons. Today, you are healed not because of you, but because of Jesus, and also because of my service. So, does your discernment of good and evil towards us matter?

Those with Mingding Destiny, who reject the discernment of good and evil, have an extremely strong ability to withstand hurt, continuing to run even when wounded. If we value the crown God has prepared for us, we will not care about these things. You will pay the price for what you truly care about.

## The Mindset of Suffering for Mingding Destiny

Have we truly forsaken everything for Jesus Christ? Houses, fields, parents, wives, children. If I touch your core interests today, I want to see if you reveal the teeth of a wolf, or the mindset of paying the price. Today, let us pay the price for Mingding Destiny. Today, we must put on the mindset of suffering, with the same mindset as Paul.

> I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you. You who fear the Lord, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you I will fulfill my vows. The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the Lord will praise him— may your hearts live forever! All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations. (Psalm 22:22-28)

God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him. Today, we must say to God, I am willing to suffer for you, my Mingding Destiny is real. All the suffering, persecution, and hardship in this world are nothing. Perhaps one day, we can stand before Him and receive a crown, enjoying eternal glory with Jesus Christ.

## Conclusion

Today, among all our brothers and sisters, do not value yourselves or money more than anything else; you cannot be a disciple of Jesus Christ. God is doing such a thing, testing us. May God have mercy, let us overcome in all things, and we shall be in the house of the Lord forever.

God bless everyone!
