【Musings】Do You Aspire to Have Eagle-Eyed Vision?

2016-11-07 5,743 Y133 Course - Living Abundantly

Possessing Eagle-Eyed Insight

The eagle embodies soaring ambition, swift reflexes, and imposing power. Its wings, broad and strong, propel it skyward, battling the heavens. Its gaze, sharp and bright, pierces through the fog, revealing all. Its talons, sharp and powerful, seize its prey, never relinquishing their grip.

With its keen eyes and powerful claws, the eagle perpetually occupies the apex of the food chain in the natural world. In the survivalist ethos of nature, opportunity is inextricably linked to survival. Without a far-sighted vision, one is destined for ruthless elimination by fate.

Many lament the lack of opportunity, attributing their unsatisfactory lives to the absence of favourable circumstances. Yet, God bestows the same opportunities upon all. Some succeed, others fail. This is not due to divine favouritism or abandonment, but rather to the ability of the successful to seize opportunities. The outcomes differ vastly between those adept at identifying and grasping opportunities and those who are not.

On a Pacific island, two salesmen, one from a British shoe factory and the other from an American one, arrived on the same day. After surveying the island, they discovered that no one wore shoes. The next day, they each telegraphed their factories. The British salesman's message read: "Island devoid of shoes. Returning tomorrow." The American salesman's message, however, stated: "Island devoid of shoes. Excellent prospects for shoe sales. Intend to remain."

The following day, the British salesman departed, while the American salesman stayed to post "advertisements." His advertisements contained no text, but depicted a robust local man, shod in leather shoes, carrying prey such as tigers, leopards, wolves, and deer, exuding strength and virility.

Intrigued, the local natives inquired about acquiring the footwear displayed in the advertisement. Consequently, the American salesman's shoes gradually gained traction in the market.

Everyone aspires to success and prosperity, striving diligently towards these goals. Many comfort themselves with the adage: "Effort is directly proportional to reward." However, they often overlook the crucial prerequisite: a correct direction. Otherwise, their strenuous efforts amount to futile struggles. As one veers further down the wrong path, success recedes into the distance. If you possess the sharp vision of an eagle, with foresight and the ability to seize opportunities, can success be far behind?

The key to life lies in growth. Regardless of when one begins, change marks the optimal starting point. Habits can be altered, and vision can be trained. Learning to observe is a critical skill. Appearances can be deceptive. One must learn to identify problems and address them promptly. While the effects may not be immediate, small, incremental changes will eventually culminate in significant transformations.

A proactive and confident mindset empowers one to achieve much. What you see is what you get. If you see opportunity, you will obtain opportunity. If you see bleak desolation, that is what you will receive. What you see is yours; what you do not see is not.

How does one perceive what others cannot, and discover opportunities that others miss? This requires exceptional vision. Can vision be trained? How does one cultivate it?

  1. See the Good in Everything

Cultivating Eagle-Eyed Wisdom

In every situation, we must discern the positive aspects. When problems arise, we must identify our shortcomings, areas for improvement, and how to implement those improvements. In our work and lives, we inevitably encounter difficult individuals. While we cannot alter the environment or others, we can modify our mindset and behaviour. We must strive to see the good in everything. For instance, if you encounter a particularly difficult superior at work, and you cannot avoid them, you must learn to adapt your thinking. If you can effectively collaborate with a challenging superior, your potential is immense. Be adept at observing the forces that promote spiritual growth.

  1. Stand Higher, See Further

Many become entangled in immediate gains, lacking a long-term vision and failing to see the path ahead. It is more blessed to give than to receive, yet many fail to grasp this simple principle of blessing. Many prominent companies understand this well. Consider Didi Chuxing, the ride-hailing app. Initially, many were sceptical, but its low fares and efficient service attracted a large and loyal following. It provided a convenient means of transportation for passengers and allowed many idle private cars to be utilized. Didi Chuxing quickly became the preferred mode of transportation, transforming people's lifestyles. Despite recent fare increases, people have grown accustomed to this mode of transport. Didi Chuxing's success is inextricably linked to the long-term vision of its decision-makers.

  1. See More Clearly

Do not merely observe the surface; learn to see through appearances to the essence. Learn to discern opportunity amidst chaos, to see the future in the present, and to find turning points in economic crises. During the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the entire Asian economy plunged into severe recession. Yet, George Soros, the financial magnate, saw opportunity in the crisis, reaping substantial profits. The total amount of wealth in the world remains constant; financial crises merely transfer wealth from one group to another. If we can see through appearances to the underlying essence, we can discover opportunities that others miss, yielding unexpected surprises.

Similarly, in the process of character formation, we inevitably encounter offences and challenges. However, if you see through these appearances to the essence, you will find that these difficulties become beneficial to your life. Having been tempered by these trials, your life will reach new heights. The spiritual person understands all things, but the worldly person cannot understand him.

  1. See More Clearly

The most important ability of a leader and decision-maker is to concretize abstract concepts. When new concepts and ideas emerge, many cannot conceive of them or see them clearly, perceiving too much uncertainty and lacking the ability to discern and analyse. If you can see the direction of progress amidst ambiguity, you will achieve success beyond your wildest dreams. When Jack Ma created Alibaba over a decade ago, no one believed in him. Everyone called him a liar and a madman. Yet, Alibaba has since become a leading global internet company. Taobao and Alipay have completely transformed people's lifestyles, permeating every aspect of their lives. If those who rejected Jack Ma at the time had recognized the immense potential of the internet, their lives might have been rewritten.

  1. Inherit More

Seven Key Qualities for Success

Many fall into the mistaken belief that achieving something requires creating everything from scratch. In reality, true innovation does not necessitate being unconventional and rejecting all prior experience. Learning to inherit is a crucial quality. When others have already done something well, we can directly adopt it. If you can master what others have already accomplished, you are already a formidable individual. New and old are relative concepts. If something is new to you, then what others have already created is new to you. Inherit it. If, in the process of learning, you can generate new ideas and innovations, pushing the success of others further, then you are an extraordinary individual. The best way to inherit is through reading, transforming the knowledge of others into your own, and learning to create and break through in the process of inheritance.

  1. Do More

Many believe that what they see is the truth. However, relying solely on sight often leads to errors. Appearances can be deceptive. In our work, we often encounter situations where tasks fall outside our job descriptions. Some will readily take them on, while others will instinctively avoid them. Many fear being taken advantage of, haggling over trivial matters. In reality, if you do well, will you not be accepted? Your actions are observed by others, and rewards and punishments are not arbitrary. Yu Minhong, the founder of New Oriental, recounted the story behind his success. During his university years, he single-handedly fetched water and cleaned the dormitory for everyone. Many might have considered him foolish and taken advantage of. However, when he started his business and sought help from his classmates, they said that his act of fetching water for the dormitory had moved them, and they readily offered their assistance. This led to the New Oriental we know today. In your work, do not fear hardship or doing more. If you consistently and proactively perform tasks beyond your job description (tasks that are positive, reasonable, and correct), then a promotion is not far off.

  1. Yearn More

The Bible says: "Seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you." We must yearn for growth. The more we yearn, the more we receive. We must yearn for change and renewal from the inside out, starting with a change of heart. Man is made in the image of God, and God is a God who does new things. Therefore, we must bear the likeness of God and be people who do new things. Yearn for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, yearn for renewal, and yearn to receive power. A proactive and confident mindset will move the hand of God to help us achieve what we desire in our hearts!

Many often lament, "I am not well-educated. There are so many outstanding people in the world. How can success ever come to me?" This is not the case. We often see individuals who, despite having received extensive education, live lives of poverty and mediocrity. Conversely, there are countless examples of individuals who have not received higher education achieving extraordinary success. We must understand that a person's success is not necessarily linked to the amount of education they have received, but it is directly related to their vision. Therefore, we must constantly be vigilant, constantly train our powers of observation, and learn to have the sharp vision of an eagle, so that everything is clear to us. Will success still be difficult?
