【Musings】Do You Aspire to Have Eagle-Eyed Vision?

2016-11-07 5,305 Y133 Course - Living Abundantly

Possessing Eagle-Eyed Insight

The eagle embodies soaring ambition, swift responsiveness, and imposing presence. Its wings, broad and powerful, propel it skyward, battling the heavens. Its gaze, sharp and clear, pierces through the fog, revealing all. Its talons, keen and strong, seize prey, never relinquishing their grip.

With its sharp eyes and powerful claws, the eagle perpetually occupies the apex of the food chain in the natural world. In the survivalist code of nature, opportunity is inextricably linked to survival. Without far-sighted vision, one is destined for merciless elimination by fate.

Many lament the absence of opportunity, attributing their unsatisfactory lives to a lack of favourable chances. Yet, God bestows the same opportunities upon all. Some succeed, others fail, not because God favours one over another, but because the successful seize their opportunities. The ability to discern and grasp opportunities distinguishes those who succeed from those who do not.

On an island in the Pacific, two salesmen from British and American shoe factories arrived. After surveying the island, they discovered that no one wore shoes. The next day, they sent telegrams to their respective factories. The British salesman wired: "No one wears shoes here. Returning tomorrow." The American salesman's message read: "No one wears shoes here. Excellent prospects for shoe sales. Intend to stay."

The following day, the British salesman departed, while the American remained to post "advertisements." His ads featured a robust local man, shod in leather shoes, carrying prey such as tigers, leopards, wolves, and deer, projecting an image of strength and virility.

Intrigued, the natives inquired about acquiring what the man in the advertisement wore on his feet. Thus, the American salesman's shoes gradually gained traction.

Everyone aspires to success and prosperity, striving diligently to achieve it. Many comfort themselves with the adage: "Effort is directly proportional to reward." However, they often overlook the crucial prerequisite: a correct direction. Otherwise, their strenuous efforts are merely futile struggles. As you stray further down the wrong path, success recedes into the distance. If you possess the keen vision of an eagle, far-sighted and adept at spotting opportunities, can success be far behind?

The key to life lies in growth. Regardless of when you begin, change is always best initiated now. Habits can be altered, and vision can be trained. Learning to observe is a critical skill. Just because things appear fine does not necessarily mean they are. Learn to identify problems and address them promptly. The effects may not be immediate, but small, incremental changes will eventually lead to significant differences.

A proactive and confident mindset will enable one to achieve much. You will obtain what you see in your mind's eye. If you see opportunity, you will gain opportunity. If you see bleak desolation, that is what you will receive. What you see is yours; what you do not see is not.

How can one see what others do not, and discover opportunities that others miss? This requires exceptional vision. Can vision be trained? How can one cultivate it?

  1. See the Good in Everything

Cultivating Eagle-Eyed Wisdom

In every situation, we must seek the positive aspects. When problems arise, we must identify our shortcomings, areas for improvement, and how to improve. In work and life, we inevitably encounter difficult people. We cannot change the environment or others, but we can change our mindset and behaviour. We must strive to see the good in everything. For instance, if you have a difficult superior at work whom you cannot avoid, learn to adapt your thinking. If you can work well with a challenging boss, your potential is immense. Be adept at observing the forces that drive personal growth.

  1. Stand Higher, See Further

Many become entangled in immediate gains, lacking a long-term goal and a vision for the future. It is more blessed to give than to receive, yet many fail to grasp this simple principle of blessing. Many prominent companies understand this well. Consider Didi Chuxing, the ride-hailing app. Initially, many were sceptical, but its low fares and efficient service attracted a large, loyal following. It provided a convenient way for people to travel and allowed many idle private cars to be utilized. Soon, Didi Chuxing became the preferred mode of transportation, transforming people's lifestyles. Despite recent fare increases, people have grown accustomed to this mode of transport. Didi Chuxing's success is inextricably linked to the long-term vision of its decision-makers.

  1. See More Clearly

Do not merely observe the surface; learn to see through appearances to the essence. Learn to see opportunity in chaos, the future in the present, and turning points in economic crises. During the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the entire Asian economy plunged into severe recession. Yet, George Soros, the financial magnate, saw opportunity in the crisis, reaping substantial profits. The total amount of wealth in the world remains constant; financial crises merely shift money from one group to another. If we can see through appearances to the underlying essence, we can discover opportunities that others miss, yielding unexpected surprises.

Similarly, in the process of character development, we inevitably encounter offences and challenges. However, if you see through these appearances to the essence, you will find that these difficulties become beneficial to your life. Having been tempered by these trials, your life will reach new heights. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself not subject to anyone's judgment.

  1. See More Clearly

The most important ability of a leader and decision-maker is to concretize abstract concepts. When new concepts and ideas emerge, many cannot conceive of them or see them clearly, perceiving too much uncertainty and lacking the ability to discern and analyze. If you can see the direction forward amidst the ambiguity, you will achieve success beyond your wildest dreams. When Jack Ma created Alibaba over a decade ago, no one believed in him. Everyone called him a liar and a madman. Yet, Alibaba has now become a leading global internet company. Taobao and Alipay have completely transformed people's lifestyles, permeating every aspect of their lives. If those who rejected Jack Ma at the time had seen the immense potential of the internet, their lives might have been rewritten.

  1. Inherit More

Seven Key Qualities for Success

Many fall into the mistaken belief that doing something well requires creating everything from scratch. In fact, true innovation does not require being unconventional and rejecting all prior experience. Learning to inherit is a crucial quality. When others have already done well, we can directly adopt their methods. If you can learn everything that others have done, you are already a remarkable individual. New and old are relative concepts. Anything you did not know before is new to you now. Inherit it. If, in the process of learning, you have new ideas and innovations that push others' successes further, you are an extraordinary person. The best way to inherit is through reading, turning others' knowledge into your own, and learning to create and break through in the process of inheritance.

  1. Do More

Many believe that what they see is the truth. However, relying solely on sight often leads to errors. Appearances are not always reality. In the workplace, we often encounter situations where tasks are not explicitly assigned to us. Some will readily take them on, while others instinctively avoid them. Many fear being taken advantage of, haggling over trivial matters. In fact, if you do well, will you not be accepted? Others see what you do. Rewards and punishments are not arbitrary. Yu Minhong, the founder of New Oriental, recounted the story behind his success. When he was in college, he single-handedly fetched water and cleaned the dormitory for everyone. Many might have thought he was foolish and being taken advantage of. However, when he started his business and sought help from his classmates, they said that his act of fetching water for the dormitory had moved them, and they readily offered their assistance. That is how New Oriental came to be. In the workplace, do not fear hardship or doing more. If you consistently and proactively do things beyond your job description (positive, reasonable, and correct things), you will soon be promoted.

  1. Yearn More

The Bible says: "Seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." We must yearn for growth. The more we yearn, the more we receive. We must yearn for change and renewal from the inside out, starting with a change of heart. Man is made in God's image. God is a God who does new things. Therefore, we must have God's likeness and be people who do new things. Yearn for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, yearn for renewal, and yearn to receive power. A proactive and confident mindset will move God's hand to help us achieve what we desire in our hearts!

Many often lament, "I am not well-educated. There are so many outstanding people in the world. How can success ever come to me?" This is not necessarily the case. We often see people who have read many books but still live in poverty and obscurity. Conversely, there are many instances of people without higher education achieving remarkable success. We must understand that a person's success is not necessarily related to how much they have read, but it is directly related to their vision. Therefore, we must constantly be vigilant, constantly exercise our powers of observation, and learn to have the keen vision of an eagle, seeing everything clearly. Will success still be difficult?
