Possessing Eagle-Eyed Insight
The eagle embodies soaring ambition, swift responsiveness, and imposing power. Its wings are broad and strong, enabling it to ascend into the clouds and battle the skies. Its gaze is sharp and bright, piercing through the fog with unwavering focus. Its talons are sharp and powerful, seizing prey with relentless tenacity.
With its keen eyesight and powerful claws, the eagle perpetually occupies the apex of the food chain in the natural world. In the survival-of-the-fittest paradigm, opportunity is inextricably linked to survival. Without far-sighted vision, one is destined for merciless elimination by fate.
Many lament their lack of opportunity, attributing their unsatisfactory lives to the absence of favourable circumstances. Yet, God bestows equal opportunities upon all. Some succeed, while others fail, not because God favours one over another, but because the successful seize the opportunities presented. The disparity in outcomes between those adept at identifying and seizing opportunities and those who are not is stark.
On an island in the Pacific, two salesmen from British and American shoe factories arrived. After surveying the island, they discovered that no one wore shoes. The next day, they sent telegrams to their respective factories. The British salesman's message read: "Island devoid of shoes. Returning tomorrow." The American salesman's message, however, stated: "Island devoid of shoes. Excellent prospects for shoe sales. Intend to remain."
The following day, the British salesman departed, while the American salesman stayed to post "advertisements." These advertisements featured a local man, robust and imposing, wearing shoes and carrying hunted tigers, leopards, wolves, and deer.
Intrigued by the advertisement, the local natives inquired about acquiring the footwear depicted. Consequently, the American salesman's shoes gradually gained traction in the market.
Everyone aspires to success and prosperity, striving diligently to achieve it. Many console themselves with the adage: "Effort is directly proportional to reward." However, they often overlook the crucial prerequisite: a correct direction. Otherwise, their strenuous efforts amount to futile struggles. As one veers further down the wrong path, success recedes into the distance. If one possesses the keen eyesight of an eagle, with far-sighted vision and an aptitude for identifying opportunities, can success be far behind?
The crux of life lies in growth. Regardless of when one begins, as long as one is willing to change, it is always the opportune moment. Habits can be altered, and vision can be trained. Learning to observe is a critical skill. Appearances can be deceiving. One must learn to identify problems and address them promptly. While the effects may not be immediate, small, incremental changes will eventually culminate in significant transformations.
A proactive and confident mindset empowers one to achieve much. What one sees is what one obtains. Seeing opportunity yields opportunity; seeing desolation yields desolation. What one sees is one's own; what one does not see is not.
How does one perceive what others cannot and discover opportunities that others miss? This requires exceptional vision. Can vision be trained? How does one cultivate it?
- See the Good in Everything
Cultivating Eagle-Eyed Wisdom
In every situation, one must discern the positive aspects. When problems arise, one must identify personal shortcomings, areas for improvement, and methods of improvement. In work and life, one inevitably encounters difficult individuals. While one cannot alter the environment or others, one can modify one's mindset and behaviour. One must strive to see the good in everything. For instance, if one encounters a difficult superior at work and cannot avoid them, one must learn to adapt one's thinking. If one can collaborate effectively with a challenging superior, one's potential is immense. One must be adept at observing the driving forces that promote personal growth.
- Stand Higher, See Further
Many become entangled in immediate interests, lacking a long-term objective and failing to envision the future. It is more blessed to give than to receive, yet many fail to grasp this simple principle of blessing. Many renowned enterprises understand this well. Consider Didi Chuxing, the ride-hailing service. Initially, many were sceptical, but its low fares and efficient service captivated a large and loyal following. It provided a convenient means of transportation for commuters and enabled many idle private cars to be utilized. Didi Chuxing quickly became the preferred mode of transportation, transforming people's lifestyles. Despite subsequent fare increases, people have grown accustomed to this mode of transport. Didi Chuxing's success is inextricably linked to the long-term vision of its decision-makers.
- See Through the Surface
One must not merely observe the surface of matters but learn to discern the essence beneath the phenomena, to perceive opportunities amidst chaos, to envision the future from the present, and to identify turning points amidst economic crises. During the Asian financial crisis of 1997, the entire Asian economy plunged into severe recession. Yet, the financial magnate George Soros saw opportunity amidst the crisis, reaping substantial profits. The total amount of wealth in the world remains constant; financial crises merely transfer wealth from one group to another. If one can see through the surface to the underlying essence, one can discover opportunities that others miss and obtain unexpected rewards.
Similarly, in the process of character development, one inevitably encounters numerous offences and challenges. However, if one sees through these appearances to the essence, one will discover that these difficulties become beneficial. Having been tempered by these trials, one's life will be elevated. The spiritual person discerns all things, yet the worldly person cannot understand him.
- See Clearly
The most crucial ability of a leader and decision-maker is to concretize abstract concepts. When new concepts and ideas emerge, many cannot envision or comprehend them, perceiving too much uncertainty and lacking the ability to discern and analyse them. If one can see clearly the direction of progress amidst ambiguity, one will reap unforeseen success. When Jack Ma created Alibaba over a decade ago, no one believed in him. Everyone labelled him a liar and a madman. Yet, Alibaba has since become a leading global internet company. Taobao and Alipay have completely transformed people's lifestyles, permeating every aspect of their lives. Had those who rejected Jack Ma recognized the immense potential of the internet, their lives might have been rewritten.
- Inherit More
Seven Key Qualities for Success
Many fall into the mistaken belief that accomplishing something requires creating everything from scratch. However, true innovation does not necessitate being unconventional and rejecting all prior experience. Learning to inherit is a crucial quality. When others have already done well, one can directly adopt their methods. If one can master what others have already accomplished, one is already highly capable. New and old are relative concepts. Anything previously unknown to you that you now encounter is new. One should inherit it. If, during this learning process, one can generate new ideas and innovations, pushing the achievements of others further, one is remarkable. The best way to inherit is through reading, transforming the knowledge of others into one's own, and learning to create and break through in the process of inheritance.
- Do More
Many believe that what the eyes see is the truth. However, relying solely on the eyes often leads to errors. Appearances can be deceiving. In the workplace, one often encounters situations where tasks fall outside one's job description. Some readily take on these tasks, while others instinctively avoid them. Many fear being taken advantage of, haggling over trivial matters. In reality, if you do well, will you not be accepted? Your actions are observed by others. Rewards and punishments are not arbitrary. Yu Minhong, the founder of New Oriental, recounted that during his university years, he single-handedly fetched water and cleaned the dormitory for all his roommates. Many might have considered him foolish and taken advantage of. However, when he started his business, his classmates readily offered assistance, citing his past acts of service as their motivation. This led to the establishment of New Oriental. In the workplace, one should not fear hardship or doing more. If one consistently and proactively performs tasks beyond one's job description (tasks that are positive, reasonable, and correct), one is not far from promotion.
- Yearn More
The Bible says: "Seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you." One must yearn for growth. The more one yearns, the more one receives. One must yearn for change and renewal from the inside out, beginning with a transformation of the heart. Man is made in the image of God, and God is a God who does new things. Therefore, one must embody the likeness of God and become a person who does new things. One must yearn for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, yearning for renewal and the acquisition of power. A proactive and confident mindset will prompt God to help us accomplish the desires of our hearts!
Many often lament: "I lack education. There are so many outstanding individuals in the world. How can success ever befall me?" However, one often observes that some, despite having received extensive education, live lives of poverty and mediocrity, while others, without the benefit of higher education, achieve remarkable success. One must recognize that success is not necessarily correlated with the amount of education one receives, but it is directly related to one's vision. Therefore, one must constantly be vigilant, constantly train one's observational skills, and learn to possess the keen eyesight of an eagle, so that all things are clear in one's sight. Will success then be difficult to attain?
