Possessing Eagle-Eyed Insight
The eagle embodies soaring ambition, swift reflexes, and awe-inspiring power. Its wings, broad and strong, propel it skyward, battling the heavens. Its gaze, sharp and bright, pierces through the fog, revealing all. Its talons, keen and mighty, seize its prey, never relinquishing their grip.
With its sharp eyes and powerful claws, the eagle forever reigns at the apex of the food chain in the natural world. In the survival of the fittest, opportunity is inextricably linked to existence. Without far-sighted vision, one is destined to be mercilessly eliminated by fate.
Many lament their lack of opportunity, attributing their unsatisfactory lives to the absence of favourable circumstances. Yet, God bestows the same opportunities upon all. Some succeed, others fail, not because God favours one over another, but because the successful seize the opportunities presented. The ability to discern and grasp opportunities distinguishes those who succeed from those who do not.
On an island in the Pacific, two salesmen from British and American shoe factories arrived. After surveying the island, they discovered that no one wore shoes. The next day, they sent telegrams to their respective factories. The British salesman's message read: "No one wears shoes here. Returning tomorrow." The American salesman's message, however, stated: "No one wears shoes here. Excellent prospects for shoe sales. Planning to stay."
The following day, the British salesman departed, while the American salesman remained to post "advertisements." His advertisements featured a robust local man, shod in leather shoes, carrying prey such as tigers, leopards, wolves, and deer, projecting an image of strength and prowess.
Intrigued, the local natives inquired about acquiring the footwear worn by the man in the advertisement. Consequently, the American salesman's shoes gradually gained popularity.
Everyone aspires to success and prosperity, striving diligently towards these goals. Many console themselves with the adage: "Effort is directly proportional to reward." However, they often overlook the crucial prerequisite: a correct direction. Otherwise, their strenuous efforts are merely futile struggles. As one veers further down the wrong path, success recedes into the distance. If you possess the sharp vision of an eagle, with foresight and the ability to seize opportunities, can success be far behind?
The key to life lies in growth. Regardless of when one begins, as long as one is willing to change, it is always the opportune moment. Habits can be altered, and vision can be trained. Learning to observe is a vital skill. Just because things appear fine does not necessarily mean they are. Learn to identify problems and address them promptly. While the effects may not be immediate, small, incremental changes will eventually lead to significant differences.
A person's proactive confidence will help him achieve many things. What you see is what you get. If you see opportunity, you will obtain opportunity. If you see desolate barrenness, that is what you will receive. What you see is yours; what you do not see is not.
How can we see what others do not, and discover opportunities that others cannot? This requires exceptional vision. Can vision be trained? How can we cultivate it?
- See the Good in Everything
Cultivating Eagle-Eyed Wisdom
In every situation, we must seek the positive aspects. When problems arise, we must identify our shortcomings, areas for improvement, and how to improve. In our work and lives, we inevitably encounter difficult people. While we cannot change the environment or others, we can alter our mindset and behaviour. We must strive to see the good in everything. For example, if you encounter a difficult superior at work and cannot avoid them, learn to change your thinking. If you can work well with a difficult superior, your potential is immense. Be adept at observing the driving forces that promote growth.
- Stand Higher, See Further
Many become entangled in immediate gains, lacking a long-term goal and failing to see the path ahead. It is more blessed to give than to receive, yet many fail to grasp this simple principle of blessing. Many renowned companies understand this well. For example, Didi Chuxing, a ride-hailing app, was initially met with scepticism. However, its low fares and efficient service won over a large following. It provided a convenient way for people to travel and allowed many idle private cars to be utilised. Soon, Didi Chuxing became the preferred mode of transportation, transforming people's lifestyles. Despite recent fare increases, people still habitually choose this option. Didi Chuxing's success is inseparable from the long-term vision of its decision-makers.
- See Through Things
Do not merely observe the surface; learn to see through appearances to the essence. Learn to see opportunity in chaos, the future in the present, and turning points in economic crises. During the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the entire Asian economy plunged into severe recession. However, George Soros, a financial magnate, saw opportunity in the crisis and reaped substantial profits. The total amount of wealth in the world remains constant; financial crises merely transfer money from one group of people to another. If we can see through appearances to the essence of things, we can discover opportunities that others cannot and obtain unexpected surprises.
Similarly, in the process of character development, we inevitably encounter offences and challenges. However, if you see through these appearances to the essence, you will find that these difficulties become beneficial to your life. Having been tempered by these trials, the height of your life will be elevated. The spiritual man makes judgements about all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone's judgement.
- See Clearly
The most important ability of a leader and decision-maker is to concretise abstract concepts. When new concepts and ideas emerge, many cannot imagine or see them clearly, feeling that there are too many uncertainties and not knowing how to discern and analyse them. If you can see the direction of progress in the midst of ambiguity, you will reap success beyond your wildest dreams. When Jack Ma created Alibaba more than a decade ago, no one believed in him. Everyone called him a liar and a madman. Yet, Alibaba has now become a leading global internet company, and Taobao and Alipay have completely transformed people's lifestyles, penetrating every corner of their lives. If those who rejected Jack Ma back then had seen the enormous potential of the internet, their lives might have been rewritten.
- Inherit More
Seven Key Qualities for Success
Many often fall into the mistaken belief that doing something well means creating everything from scratch. In fact, true innovation does not require being unconventional and rejecting all previous experience. Learning to inherit is a crucial quality. When others have already done well, we can directly adopt their methods. If you can learn everything that others have done, you are already a remarkable person. New and old are relative concepts. If you were previously unfamiliar with something, then what you are now encountering that others have already created is new to you. Inherit it. If, in the process of learning, you have new ideas and innovations that can push others' success further, then you are an extraordinary person. The best way to inherit is through reading, turning others' knowledge into your own, and learning to create and break through in the process of inheritance.
- Do More
Many believe that what they see is the truth. However, relying solely on sight often leads to errors. Appearances are not always reality. In our work, we often encounter situations where tasks are not within our job description. Some will readily take them on, while others instinctively avoid them. Many fear being taken advantage of and haggle over trivial matters. In fact, if you do what is right, will you not be accepted? Others are watching what you do, and rewards and punishments are not without reason. Yu Minhong, the founder of New Oriental, shared the story behind his success. When he was in university, he single-handedly fetched water and cleaned the dormitory for everyone. Many might have thought he was foolish and being taken advantage of. However, when he started his business and sought help from his classmates, they said that it was his act of fetching water for the dormitory that moved them, and they readily offered their assistance. That is how New Oriental came to be. In your work, do not be afraid of hardship or doing more. If you often proactively do things beyond your job description (positive, reasonable, and correct things), then you are not far from a promotion.
- Yearn More
The Bible says: "Seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." We must yearn for growth. The more we yearn, the more we will receive. We must yearn for change and renewal from the inside out, starting with a change of heart. Man is made in God's image, and God is a God who does new things. Therefore, we must have God's likeness in us and be people who do new things. Yearn for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, yearn for renewal, and yearn to receive power. Proactive faith will move God's hand to help us achieve what we desire in our hearts!
Many often lament, "I am not well-educated. There are so many outstanding people in the world. How can success ever come to me?" However, we often see that some people, despite having read many books, still live in poverty and mediocrity, while others who have not received higher education achieve remarkable success. We must understand that a person's success is not necessarily related to how much they have read, but it is directly related to their vision. Therefore, we must constantly be vigilant, constantly train our powers of observation, and learn to have the sharp vision of an eagle, so that everything is clear to us. Will success still be difficult then?
