Today's Topic: God Wants to Make Our Name Great!

Last Sunday, Brother HF shared a topic that few pastors are willing to talk about, which is to be the boss. The first thing that comes to mind when you hear this word is the head of the underworld. After I listened, it was the boss of the black boss, the white boss, and the red boss! Don't get me wrong, our God wants us to be the boss, and it is written in the Bible. But there is a lot to learn about what this boss means. Do you know what is big? Let me test everyone, is the mayor bigger, or the county head bigger? The mayor is bigger, why? Because he manages a large area and many people. Very smart! Is the provincial governor bigger, or the mayor bigger? The provincial governor is bigger. Why? Because he manages more people and a larger area. The same is true in business. Is a company with 100 million yuan bigger, or a company with 1 billion yuan? Of course, 1 billion is bigger. Very smart!

In fact, no one likes small things. In ancient times, when we met officials, we called them 大人 (dà rén, great men). If you called them 小人 (xiǎo rén, small men), you would not only not become a 大人, but you would also become someone with big trouble. The word 大 (dà, big) is good! Big business, big official, big army, big general, big brand, big celebrity, Big Beijing, Big Northwest, big country, big sea, big mountain – all start with the word 大. It describes a feeling of awe.

Christians also pay great attention to 大 (dà, big). Does everyone know what the two biggest things for Christians are? The Great Commandment and the Great Commission! We Chinese are remarkable and invented the word 大. The Four Great Inventions also have the word 大. We like everything big. When I came to Singapore, Chinese people liked the United States because it was a big country. They all had a 大国情怀 (dà guó qíng huái, big country sentiment).

But I chose Singapore, a small country. Many people were curious and asked me why I liked Singapore. In fact, Singapore is a very good country, even though it is small, but I like it. Actually, in my heart, although I am in Singapore, I am a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven, which is bigger than both the United States and China! Before I knew God, what I wanted to find was the biggest God! I must tell you, I have found Him! Our God is truly the biggest God! My God, my Lord is the God of gods and the Lord of lords! Big, isn't He? He is big! The biggest!

I really like 大 (dà, big)! I also really hate 小 (xiǎo, small). When we see those stingy people, we Chinese call them 小气鬼！(xiǎo qì guǐ, stingy ghosts!) Before, one of the brothers I pastored went out and met someone who asked him which church he attended. He hesitated and said, I... I'm in a very, very small church. He was too embarrassed to even say the name. Our church has our T-shirts, but he was too embarrassed to wear them. When he got to church, he took them out of his pocket and put them on. When I found out about this, I felt very sad! So, when you see the small pastors of small churches, you must honour them, they need it very much!

Pastors in Singapore's churches are divided into two categories: the big pastors of big churches and the small pastors of small churches. Of course, I belong to the small pastors. But my heart is big! From that time on, in my faith, I told myself that I would do great things for God! Although I am a small pastor, I must walk like a big pastor. Although I am a small pastor, I must preach like a big pastor. Although I am a small pastor, I must do things like a big pastor. In fact, those big pastors all grew up like this. I encourage you, don't underestimate yourself. Who knows, in 20 years, you might be a Jack Ma! 20 years ago, who knew that inconspicuous young man would be today's Jack Ma!

Our God really doesn't like people who don't have great aspirations inside. If you know our God, you know that He really hates people who live small lives. Do you know that those Israelites who lived small lives were later thrown around among the nations by God and suffered all kinds of hardships! If you continue to live a small life, if the demons know, they will mess with you; if God knows, He will mess with you. How can you bear this? Don't blame me for not telling you! Last night, a sister had a nightmare and called Brother HF, who is in his pastoral district. She told HF, I want to repent! Repent! Before, she was planning to live a small life! In this generation, I see many people who want to be rich but are not, and I also see many who want to be the boss but become 屌丝 (diǎo sī, losers). They can't even be the boss among the losers. They are just small losers. How sad! Wanting to be the boss is one thing, actually becoming the boss is another.

Our God has never criticized those who have ambition. When Jesus Christ was on earth, he had several disciples. As a result, two of the disciples brought out their mother and came to Jesus…

Mat 20:20 Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favour of him. Mat 20:21 What is it you want? he asked. She said, Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom. Mat 20:22 You don't know what you are asking, Jesus said to them. Can you drink the cup I am going to drink? We can, they answered. Mat 20:23 Jesus said to them, You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father. Mat 20:24 When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. Mat 20:25 Jesus called them together and said, You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Mat 20:26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, Mat 20:27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave-- Mat 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Did you know that our God has never criticized his disciples for wanting to be great? He just corrected their understanding of what it means to be great. To be great is to serve others! To be a blessing to others!

Today I will share a topic with you: God wants to make our name great!

Scripture: Genesis 12:1-4

Gen 12:1 The LORD had said to Abram, Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you. Gen 12:2 I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. Gen 12:3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. Gen 12:4 So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran.

God in Abram's Generation Searched for Vessels of Blessing

This land is cursed because of people, and it is also blessed because of people. The Bible is about God's search for vessels. From the time God cursed the earth, He longed to restore His blessing to the earth. But people just don't want to receive blessings. They live in curses according to their own ideas and according to the devil's lies. Don't think that God doesn't want to bless us; it is people who don't want God's blessing. The choice lies with people!

He searched all over the earth for vessels who could be called blessings to the earth. In Noah's time, everyone on earth was corrupt, except for Noah's family, so God chose Noah's family. Noah became a blessing to that generation. It also became a judgment on that generation. But 400 years later, 4,000 years ago, God searched the earth to see if there was anyone who could become a blessing to the whole earth. He found Abram! As a result, for 4,000 years, in every generation, wherever the gospel has gone, Abram's name has been proclaimed! Every time I think of this, my heart is filled with envy. I long to be Abram. How good it is that God will make my name great, that God will make me a blessing to all nations and peoples on earth. That is what I want most. Maybe I wasn't born a 屌丝 (diǎo sī, loser). My heart is filled with 大 (dà, big). I don't like small lives. I would rather die than live a small life! It's meaningless! To tell you the truth, I really don't care what others say about me. I really feel that I am becoming more and more like Abram! Among us, those who follow me to build the church are also becoming more and more like Abram!

Did Abram decide that God would choose him, or did God decide to choose him? I really want to know. Actually, Abram decided whether God would choose him. Really, whoever seeks God, God will let him find Him; whoever knocks, God will open the door to him; whoever draws near to God, God will draw near to you! When I knew that this choice was in your hands and my hands, in our hearts, I was so excited! I decided in my heart that I was determined to let God choose me. Even if I had to tie myself to the wing of an airplane, I would enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

Many people are superstitious and think that Abram's name determined that God chose Abram. So they decide to change their names to Abram. It's useless. Even if you have Lot inside and write Abram on your forehead in gilt letters, it's useless.

Why did God choose Abram? It turns out that our God is a God who examines people's hearts! Abram's heart was a heart that longed for eternal life. Abram saw the lives of the people in the world and lamented that they lived and then died! He felt that if you live and then die, what's the point? In fact, when you look at the living pigs and dogs, do you think their lives have meaning? At best, they are eaten as meat. What about people? When they die, no one even eats their meat. Why do people live? Where do people come from, and where do they go? The more you think about it, the more confused you become. Really confused. The famous philosopher and educator Bertrand Russell, who lived to be 98 years old, died in the 1970s. He was an atheist and wrote the famous article Why I Am Not a Christian. But before he died, he said that there was really no meaning to life. It's true that if you live one day less, don't you feel sad? Sometimes I don't understand why people still care so much about money when they are about to enter the grave! They just don't understand what it means to live! If people put all their hope in this life, it's so pitiful! Sometimes I ask myself why I believe in the Lord like this. I tell myself that the meaning of life is in my Lord Jesus! When I was young, I was always looking for the meaning of life. No matter what, I couldn't find it. Even if I found it, I was just deceiving myself. Until I knew the Lord Jesus, experienced the Lord Jesus, and was convinced that people have eternal life! People are different from pigs and dogs; people are living beings with spirits!

Brothers and sisters, you need to start seeking, God is already there waiting for you! God is eager to bless you, God is eager to make your name great, God is eager for us to become honorable and glorious vessels, God is eager for us to live out His wonderful plan in our God! Your work is not the problem, the problem is whether you have found the meaning of life! Life is not the problem, the problem is whether you can live out God's honor and glory! I know that some of us are still living in the trough of life, not because of anything else, but because your eyes are only on this life, you live for yourself, and that is the result! Start changing tracks today, start knowing that God is helping you, the choice is yours, you start choosing to see through the essence of life, start seeking God, start longing to be a blessing for this generation! Your affairs are all small matters, God will surely help you!

Do not think that God only sought Abram 4000 years ago, in fact, God is seeking in every generation, and when He finds someone, He blesses him and makes his name great! To make him a blessing to that generation! It is the same in our generation!

God is also looking for vessels of blessing in our generation

I met a few Christians, and I don't know how she reads the Bible. If you want her to be Abram, she says, how many Abrams are there, how many Josephs are there, how many Davids are there, that's what Christians do. I give this kind of Christian a name, called loser Christians. The most hateful thing is, I said we should all be like Jesus, she said, Jesus is Jesus, how can we be Jesus!

Brothers and sisters, God wants us to be like Jesus, God wants us to be like Abram, God wants us to become vessels that He can use, to be a blessing to this generation! Why does the Bible write about Abram? It is to tell us that God likes such people. Why does the Bible write about Joseph? It is to tell us that God delights in people like Joseph. Why does the Bible write about David? It is to tell us that God delights in people like David. Why does He tell us? It is to tell us to follow their example! This is the theme of the Bible, that God wants to bring many sons into eternity through Jesus Christ!

Today I say it again, God is waiting for us, God is seeking us, the choice is in our hands! Today, put down the entanglements of this life and start choosing to be the Abram of this generation! God will surely make your name great, and God will surely make you a blessing to this generation. If you are Abram, your problems are no longer problems! Because God will surely help us!

Start becoming the vessel that God is looking for! That is a huge matter!

Last night, Sister Sun Lili, Sister Sun Lili excitedly recorded a section of her graduation design and put it in the group. I hadn't gone to sleep yet, and I watched it, it was great! Let me read what she wrote.

Two weeks ago, Sun Lili suddenly became entangled and struggled, wondering whether to continue attending meetings, and wanted to save time to do her graduation design! I challenged her in the voice message, start setting aside time for sacred use! What does the Bible say? God found Abram, knew the longing in Abram, and declared God's promise on Abram: to make him a great nation, and God will surely bless him. God will make his name great!

In fact, Abram's name was very famous in that generation! Did you see Abram lacking wealth? No! Did you see Abram unemployed? No! Did you see Abram losing battles? No! Did you see Abram bankrupt? No! Did you see Abram living an inhuman life? No!

Because God was with Abram! God wanted to make Abram a brand-new kingdom, which was the kingdom of God, Abram, the honorable prince!

How did Abram's name become great?

The concept of a nation, the concept of an army.
