【Sermon】Breaking Worldly Values 06: Meditate on God's Word Day and Night

2019-09-02 14,300 Breaking Down Worldly Values Series Curse Blessing Miracle Careful Obedience Destiny Meditating Day and Night

Introduction

I would like to share a topic with everyone, entitled Meditating on God's Word Day and Night. For many, this topic may come as a shock, as it is a command given by God to Joshua. If we carefully observe this world, we will find that many people work desperately, as if the sky would fall without them. Yet, they are not prime ministers, chairmen, governors, or mayors, but merely ordinary workers.

Once, I ministered to a sister who had pimples on her face and soreness in her arms, unable to lift her elbows. I said, Sister, take a few days off and pray at home. She replied, I can't, I have to go to work! I was deeply moved. If a person had cancer, would they still go to work? Aren't there many tragedies in the world? Can we let go? Yes, we can. So why can't we let go now? If one becomes very ill, won't they eventually let go?

To be a bit harsh, if your mother died, would you have to let go? Of course, you would. People are strange. I tell her not to work so hard, and she thinks I don't want her to work properly. But working properly and working desperately are not the same thing. Many things in life can be let go. If a person dies, they have no choice but to let go. No matter how high your position, life goes on after death.

Know that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. If I tell you to meditate on God's Word day and night, would you say that's possible? Would I still be able to live my life? But doesn't meditating on God's Word day and night actually improve one's life? I reiterate a concept that everyone must understand: no matter how busy you are at work today, no matter how successful you are in your career, no matter how prosperous your business is, I tell you that many times, accidents determine a person's destiny.

Human effort cannot determine destiny; rather, accidents encountered in life determine destiny. Remember, this is very important. For example, a car accident can end a life; cancer can change a destiny; a stroke can alter a life; a giant cell tumor in the bone can also change a destiny; ankylosing spondylitis can also change a destiny—there are many such examples.

People plan and plan, but a chance event can completely change their fate. I tell you, not only do blessings fall from the sky, but so do cancer, car accidents, tsunamis, and earthquakes. When misfortune strikes, nothing can help. But when one is blessed, everything goes well. The God we believe in brings both disaster and blessing.

Therefore, if one has blessings in life, things are easy; without blessings, it is very troublesome. If I meditate on God's Word day and night, I will prosper in everything. If one does not meditate on God's Word day and night, sometimes things go well, and sometimes they don't. The other day, I saw an old sister who was so constipated and uncomfortable that she confessed her sins, repented, and then finally relieved herself.

Then I thought, people are really very fragile, so having God is a very good thing. Who determines these things that fall upon us from the sky? God does. Which ones fall on us depend on whether we love God with all our heart, soul, and strength. If we love God, He will bless us and keep His covenant of love with us for a thousand generations. If we do not love God, that person is cursed.

Meditating on God's Word day and night, because they are willing in their hearts. If they were unwilling, it would be very tiring! This determines a person's life. Brothers and sisters, observe the tragedies in the world—tsunamis, earthquakes, car accidents—where thousands upon thousands die at once. One day they are busy planning this and that, and the next day they are dead. It's useless, really useless.

Scripture

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (Joshua 1:8)

Prayer

Lord Jesus, work in me today. May you personally renew my mind. Enable me to keep and obey your word, to meditate on your word day and night, so that my path may be prosperous and everything may go well.

God, I want to know you today. I know that you reign over all things in this universe, holding first place. I also know that you reign in the kingdoms of men and in my life. I want to trust in you alone!

Lord Jesus, in this busy life, I want to set aside time for you, to meditate on your word day and night. May your word be engraved on our hearts, may I understand your will, may I walk in your purpose, and may I see through the essence of life through your word.

Work in me today to reveal your truth, speaking to us. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

The Myth of Busyness

Busyness is an interesting thing. You say you are busy, and I am busy too. Some people are busy playing mahjong. Joshua was in charge of 3 million Israelites, which is no joke. The eating, drinking, sanitation, and sleeping of 3 million Israelites are all critical matters. Even in today's society with modern tools, dealing with garbage is difficult.

But God didn't say to Joshua, Take good care of these eating and sanitation issues. You are so busy, don't bother reading God's Word. I understand. This is very interesting. Is Joshua busier than you? Joshua was able to meditate on God's Word day and night, so why can't you? How many people do you manage? Some manage 2 people, some manage 4. Compared to Joshua, that's a far cry.

In reality, busyness is a myth. Why are people busy? I definitely have studied this. Why are people busy? Because there are always emergencies. And why are there always emergencies? Because they didn't plan well before, because they didn't do the important but non-urgent things, and then many things become urgent.

I am a prolific pastor, my output is very high, and my work efficiency is relatively high. I tell you, the key is that God is gracious to me, that He gives me much wisdom. To know for certain that God is the source of wisdom.

So when I do things, I often do things that are not urgent but very important. Meditating on God's Word is certainly important. If you often do things that are not urgent but very important, you will eliminate the urgent things. If a person has an emergency one day and another the next, isn't that deadly? People are very tired when they deal with these things all day long.

If we manage the airplanes well, and plan everything properly, it is less likely to have accidents. If it is not managed well, and an airplane crashes, everyone will be very busy. With 300 people on the plane, you have to handle the aftermath for 300 people, receive 300 surviving family members, tolerate their troubles, and find the insurance company. This one incident keeps everyone busy. If that didn't happen, wouldn’t everything be easier?

Actually, I have given an extreme example. If you are busy at work every day until late at night, getting up before dawn, you are probably a very inefficient person. If you have emergencies every day that you must deal with, you are likely a very unwise person. Why? Because busyness is a myth.

If you look at my lifestyle, you will find that I focus on the key points very accurately. I minister to people very efficiently, and I hope that our colleagues can inherit this. A few days ago, I taught a sister to read a book titled The One Thing. How can there be only one most important thing? Aren't there many? People living in the myth of busyness don't think so.

We must start to learn not to be ignorant. People are busy precisely because something has gone wrong. People are inefficient and will be busy. I wrote it on the whiteboard, leading them to sort out the most important things. One must learn to be wise in doing things. The most important thing is only one thing. It sounds strange, but after I summarized it, I felt it was good.

The One Thing

Usually, I divide people's affairs into four categories. The first is both important and urgent; the second is important but not urgent; the third is urgent but not important; the fourth is neither important nor urgent. If people often do the wrong things, they will live a hard life. Why is it hard? Either they have urgent things every day, or they do things that are neither important nor urgent, like playing mahjong or traveling. When emergencies come, they are at a loss.

We must often do the important but non-urgent things. In fact, meditating on God's Word day and night can help us avoid many tragedies. For example, if a person saves all the time they spend in the hospital bed, how much time would they save? If we save all the time that demons torment and control us, you will save a lot of time.

Why are people so busy every day that they are controlled by demons? Busying themselves into cancer, into car accidents, into death. It is meaningless, utterly meaningless. What can we do to determine our destiny? You have to study it carefully! Desperate work cannot determine your destiny.

Recently, there was a brother who had been working desperately all the time, but he lost his job. He was doing urgent things all day long, not doing important things, and doing a lot of urgent things. How can that be good? I think we all know in our hearts what can determine a person's destiny. Can a certificate determine a person's destiny? No. I don't value those things much, because I am not preaching a fictional, empty thing, but meditating on God's Word day and night.

Even if we meditate on God's Word day and night, there are still many things we don't understand. If we don't meditate on God's Word day and night, and spend all day on those other things, how can that be good? If God flicks a tiny bit of wisdom from heaven into us, it is enough for us to live a lifetime. So we have no reason to say that we are busy today.

Joshua managed 3 million Israelites. How many things did he have to manage? And they had to cross the Jordan River. Let's just talk about crossing the Jordan River. How many ships would it take for 3 million people to cross? Did Joshua busy himself with building ships? No. He should have been busy building ships because they had to cross the Jordan River! But what was he busy with? He was busy meditating on God's Word day and night. What was the result? The waters of the Jordan River parted, and they walked across! How good it is to have God, isn't it?

Why didn't God tell him to be busy and build ships? Because the success or failure of things depends on God. Because they were going to war after crossing the Jordan River! Why didn't he read The Art of War? It seems like there was no such thing back then. Why didn't he read books specifically on how to fight wars? There weren't any!

Meditating on God's Word day and night. We are surprised that it works? Of course, I think it works! Brothers and sisters, do you want your path to be prosperous and everything to go well? Who doesn't? Everyone does. Then why isn't your path prosperous and everything doesn't go well? It is clear that you have not meditated on God's Word day and night.

If you only read The Art of War all day long, what can you get out of it? What about reading about becoming a network engineer, software engineer, or taking accounting, lawyer, and other certification exams? Does it work? No, it doesn't. Even if you were Li Bai or Du Fu, what would it matter? Full of knowledge, but still unlucky! Aren't their poems all about being unappreciated? Useless.

So, everyone must come out of the myth of busyness. No matter how busy you are, squeeze out time to meditate on God's Word day and night. Busyness is not the key to solving the problem, the key is meditating on God's Word day and night. Don't be an enemy of God. If you oppose God, will you be okay in this life? You must walk in God's will. We do as God says. After you do it, you will marvel at how good our God is! You used to be busy and controlled by demons. After you came among us, you were set free, and then you went back to busyness. Are you out of your mind?

The Worldly System and the Godly System

If you have two completely different systems mixed together, you are a confused person. If you are purely a worldly system, you probably aren't too confused. But if you listen to me all day long and then have a worldly system inside you, you will be upset! How can you not be upset? You might as well not listen. It's hard to listen, so you might as well be okay, just walk the same path as the people of the world, wherever it leads, so you don't have this confusion today.

Building a church is about bringing people with a godly logic together. Don't bring worldly, cursed people together and build a cursed church. That's suicide, isn't it? So, until today, we are still running forward. Looking back now on building the church over the past years, it's as if the church is a sieve, constantly sifting people out.

You might say, What kind of church is this? How can you sift people out? People are not sifted out by me, but by God. God receives Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob into His kingdom, and sifts out Ishmael and Esau. These are all characters from the Book of Genesis. A person's life is their own choice. After people choose, God sifts.

So I see God's work among us in the past years as very interesting. Actually, it is just like in the Old Testament of the Bible. In the Book of Numbers, Israelites died batch after batch, all being killed by God through evil spirits. A few days ago, when I was doing healing and deliverance, an evil spirit said something to me that I found very funny. It said, I am helping you build the church. I am cleaning the church and taking away the garbage. That's good. I thought about it, and it really is helping me build the church. That’s good.

I asked it, Who are you cleaning up recently? It said, I can't tell you that. It's a secret! The evil spirit was playing games with me about secrets. If it revealed it, saying, I am cleaning up so and so! I am going to take them away! How could I minister? I might as well give up, right? But because I don't know, I do my best to minister to every brother and sister. I believe that you are not the one being cleaned out by the demon, and I believe that you are chosen by God.

But the question is, are you chosen by God or by the devil? That depends on your creation, and your creation is your choice. Study the two characters in the Bible carefully. These are two systems: the system of Esau and the system of Jacob. The system of Esau is to live by the sword all his life. The system of Jacob is that I will not give up until I get God's destiny and blessing. This is Jacob's character, even if he deceives his father to get the blessing, I am willing to do it.

His father asked, Are you Esau? He said, I am Esau, but the voice was still Jacob's voice. Then Isaac touched and smelled Jacob, and the fragrance on Jacob was the fragrance given by God, the same as the fragrance in the Garden of the Lord. Then he blessed Jacob. How good these words of blessing are!

And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the Lord hath blessed: Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother's sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee. (Genesis 27:27-29)

If a person has a godly logic, what will be the result? The dew of heaven and the fatness of the earth will all be there. Some people say that they want to have that too, but the prerequisite is that you must have God's blessing.

And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son? And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. (Genesis 27:37-38)

And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck. (Genesis 27:40)

This is very interesting. These are two completely different logical systems. One is to live by your own sword, relying on your own abilities. If you want to shape your own abilities, that is Esau's system. If you rely on God's blessing, relying on God's destiny, that is Jacob's system. What is the foundation of this system? What is most important to you? We need to reflect.

Maybe after you hear it, you will have to think about leaving this church, saying, You play by yourself, I won't help you. Actually, you don't need to help. I don't really need anyone to help me. Some people feel wronged, saying, Why do you always talk about me? When you are preaching, you always talk about me. Actually, what I mean by saying this is not to shame anyone. These two systems are people's choices. If you are willing to rely on your own abilities, then rely on your own abilities! Before, I ministered to you, doing healing and deliverance for you. That was my choice. I will not use these to morally kidnap anyone.

As for me, I choose Jacob's system. I will follow my God closely all my life, because I live to live for Him, and I die to die for Him. My life is to serve my God for my food, and my life is to think of God's word for my joy. I am really very grateful to my God. I have walked through the valley of the shadow of death many times. I know there have been several times, and we don't know about those from the perils that have been dodged.

Many years ago, my condition was almost exactly the same as the symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, but I am bold and I don't care. I didn't really believe in doctors anyway. Doctors with cancer don't know how to treat themselves, so I prayed. A brother with the same symptoms as me, also a Christian, had exactly the same symptoms. He went to the hospital for an examination and it was nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which scared me enough. I quickly bought insurance for my son. At that time, I was still quite worldly, of course, that was my level at the time. I was thinking at the time that he had to live after I died, and I had to give him the money, so I bought insurance. I bought insurance and later found that I didn't die.

Nine months later, I went to attend my brother's funeral. He was lying in the coffin, and my symptoms had almost completely disappeared. What was the reason? I love God! God took me through the valley of the shadow of death. If I had been tormented by nasopharyngeal carcinoma, that would have been deadly. I thank my God! I am still very grateful to this day! Think about it, if I am busy with work, busy with this, busy with that, busy with a lot of things, what will happen when I am done? I still couldn't stop getting cancer! But because I have God, because I have God's destiny on me, I know that my life is to serve God, and I am full of interest and enthusiasm for serving God.

Some people said to me, Why don't you understand me? Look how busy we are at work! I really don't understand you, and of course you don't understand me either. Look how enthusiastic I am when I serve! Seeing that my work is about to be gone, I am still enthusiastically serving God. I am happy to serve God, and I feel that a person with God has nothing to worry about. Later, I experienced a mid-life crisis of unemployment. It is very difficult to find a job in my 40s. But God was gracious to me, because I felt that living was a very simple thing! Do you think there is such a thing as a pie falling from the sky?

At that time, I didn't have a mortgage yet, so I sold the car first, and that didn't work either. Later, I found that someone was sending money to my account. A pie really fell from the sky. He was an English speaking friend of mine. I don't know why he wanted to send money to my account, but it was because of him that I was able to get through that most difficult time. If you have God, even if you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you are not afraid of harm, and even if you walk through a place full of landmines, you will not step on a landmine.

Recently, I have been even more grateful in my service to God. My mother is better. Filial piety is very important to me. If my mother was paralyzed in bed, how would I live my life? I don't know how I would live it. But God helped me! If you are also a filial child like me, what can you do to stop your mother from having Alzheimer's disease or being bedridden? You can't stop it! You can't stop it at all. But I have God, I trust in God, and God has mercy on me and remembers my family because I love Him! Not to mention how many disasters I have avoided because of God.

Jacob's logic is to trust in God. He was about to be killed, but because he trusted in God, he was not killed. He almost didn't make it, and the people around him were going to attack him, but because he trusted in God, it was okay! Many times it looked like it wasn't going to work, but it worked again! If you have God, what doesn't work? Joshua is Jacob's logic system, so he meditates on God's word day and night, and saves that time to think about God's word. Will he be busy? He will not be busy! No boat? We will cross the Jordan River as if walking on dry land! God can perform miracles, so what people need most in life is not certificates, not degrees, not busy work, but God's presence!

If we have God's presence, our lives will be full of miracles and wonders, there will be nothing that cannot be reversed, there will be no Flaming Mountain that cannot be crossed, and even if we go up the mountain of knives and down into the sea of fire, our God will still be with us, and there will be no victory that cannot be won. So I choose to meditate on God's word day and night. Today, I also encourage you to meditate on God's word day and night. Since we trust in God, let us trust in Him well! Don't straddle! One foot in the worldly system and the other foot in the godly system.

Straddling is a very harsh word. Since we have trusted in God, let us trust in Him alone. God is in charge of the universe, and is He isn't able to solve such trifling matters? Actually, trusting in God doesn't delay anything. If I were to list what I have done in the past year or so, it would be

Why Meditate on God's Word Day and Night

The system of this world is the system of Esau, so reasonable, everything sounds reasonable, but Jacob's system sounds unreasonable. Let me give you a few examples. If a person is sick, they need to see a doctor, and seeing a doctor costs money, so I must have money, so I have to make money quickly, and to make money, I have to work, so I have to work hard, then how can people have time to meditate on God's word day and night? These sound very reasonable. If people do not meditate on God's word day and night, they will fall into this worldly system.

When Joshua looked at the Jordan River at that time, how could 3 million people cross? According to the worldly system, there must be a boat, right? Surely everyone can't swim across? Besides, before you even swim across, the people on the other side will come and kill you. So this matter sounds like it can't be figured out no matter how you think about it. How reasonable is the worldly system? I am in charge of 3 million Israelites, shouldn't I learn business management? Do I need a business management certificate? Joshua didn't do that, he meditated on God's word day and night.

What was the result? No boat was needed, God solved the problem with miracles. Miracles are unreasonable. Can you imagine Alzheimer's disease being cured? You don't understand, and I don't understand, but I am slowly beginning to understand. The system of this world is too powerful. People have to do certain things at a certain age. When they reach a certain age, they have to get married, and when they get married, they have to buy a house. Can pies fall from the sky? Then I have to work hard, where is there time to meditate on God's word day and night?

So today we are deeply bound by the worldly system. People don't know that they will die one day, they live in a daze. Being so deeply bound by the world's system, many problems arise. These many problems cannot be solved. You think that doing this will solve those problems, but in fact, nothing can be solved.

Let me pour a bucket of cold water on you. Without God, you live according to the worldly system. Although it is reasonable, it is of no use at all. For example, what do you use to block disasters? A tsunami washes everything away, an earthquake collapses everything. People need to know that they are not capable, people need to know that they are often confused, so they need to meditate on God's word day and night, and they will understand as they think about it. People take what I have, and I have to find a way to take it back, this is the human system.

Today, wars in various parts of the world come from this. Some people say, we don't want to rely on the worldly system anymore, so we don't need to meditate on God's word day and night, right? In fact, meditating day and night is like working every day. The worldly system inside us has been with us since the day we were born. You see, after a child is born, he becomes very selfish, but he really doesn't know that it is the worldly system, so he lives and lives and becomes confused.

We must constantly tear down the worldly system and constantly build Jacob's godly system. Tearing it down every day may not necessarily work, tearing it down occasionally is useless at all. We must constantly tear down, there are too many things inside us that need to be torn down. Even if you have experienced God, you still have to constantly tear down. Some people don't want to tear down, so God forces them to tear down, isn't that why red bumps grow on their faces and they can't see with their eyes for a while? Even if they are forced like this, they are still unwilling to tear down.

How much people trust the worldly system! In fact, there are still some brothers and sisters among us who are gradually falling into the worldly system, on that edge. If God doesn't sift you out, the evil spirits will also take you away. Either we tear down what is inside us, or we are taken away by the evil spirits. It is a choice within us.

God's Word Is Our Food

Some parents are quite muddle-headed. When their child says they are hungry, the mother says, Didn't you eat enough yesterday? This sounds very muddle-headed! We need to eat God's word every day. If we don't eat God's word, we will be weak. If we eat God's word, we will receive energy from God. Our knowledge of God is endless, so we must meditate on God's word day and night. We must learn to know God in our understanding and grasp the essence of things. To grasp the essence of things, we must meditate day and night. No matter what kind of problem I solve, I have a characteristic, which is that I like to grasp the essence of things.

If I can't figure it out, I will first test it on a small scale, and then do it after I figure it out. The efficiency of doing things is very high. There is a child, I trained her to write programs, grasping the essence of writing programs, her chances of getting an offer in an interview are very high. Some of us like to do things blindly without thinking. For example, someone plasters the wall and it becomes a pockmarked wall, they just go ahead and do it without caring. God's word is very deep, so we must meditate day and night. We may not be able to understand it even if we meditate day and night, but we will never be able to understand it if we don't meditate day and night.

Many pastors are very busy because they don't grasp the essence. Grasping the essence of things is to carefully obey God's word, we must walk in God's will. Some people often say, tell me, what should I do? Hasn't God already told you what to do? Do I still need to tell you? I can't tell you, even if I tell you, you won't grasp the essence. We grasp the essence so that we can carefully obey. If a person violates God's word, it is impossible to have a good life. We have written more than fifty books because we meditate on God's word day and night.

Some people do not meditate on God's word day and night, nor do they carefully obey, nor are they focused, so what problems can they solve? Some people say: I don't like to visit patients in the hospital the most, it's okay if I don't pray, but if I pray, they die the next day. This is not carefully obeying and constantly violating God's word. A 32-year-old church full-time worker got cancer, and he felt that God was unfair to him. He did not meditate on God's word day and night, nor could he grasp the essence of things, nor could he know God in his understanding, nor did he carefully obey, so he was cursed.

Many people do not know that whether we do something smoothly depends on God. Whether we prosper in something depends on God. Whether we have the ability and efficiency to do something depends on God. If you want everything to go smoothly and prosper, you must start learning to meditate on God's word day and night.

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction. (Psalm 1:1-6)

If everything you do today goes badly, you should know where the reason lies. Don't think that you can get some benefits among us, you can't. If you don't meditate on God's word day and night, how can you get benefits?

Summary

We need to know what is beneficial to us. If we don't know that God is beneficial to us, we will treat stool as rice crackers. The devil can make people become very confused. The devil points, and the stool immediately becomes rice crackers. Many people eat a lot of rice crackers, but they all come from the devil. If anyone loves the world, the love of God is not in them. All those who love the world are eating stool that has been turned into rice crackers. We think they are smart people, but when measured by God's word, they are all foolish. You walk your own path, wherever it leads.

As for us, we must meditate on God's word day and night, knowing that God is everything to us, God is the source of our strength, God is the key to our success or failure in everything we do, God is the God who protects us. We must trust him in this life, forever! This is our Mingding Destiny!

May God bless everyone!
