【Bible Study】Deuteronomy 25 - The Key to Enjoying Peace Lies in Justice and Mercy

The Key to Obtaining Peace

How can one obtain peace? It is imperative to understand one thing: to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk with your God. We must know that God reigns supreme in this world, not the devil, nor man. Therefore, you need not fear your boss; you need to fear God. A person who does not revere God, who does not know God, will not act justly and love mercy, so there is no question of obtaining peace. A person who knows God, if he cannot act justly and love mercy, will also have no way to obtain peace.

What does God require of us? As Micah 6:8 says: He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. This chapter tells us how to act justly and love mercy. We must be especially careful in the matter of acting justly and loving mercy. If there are lawyers, judges, or those who work in adjudication in the family, they must revere God and handle matters impartially in order to obtain peace. A person who obtains peace will not be entangled in dire lawsuits.

The reason people do not obtain peace is that they have no Mingding Destiny. The reason they have no Mingding Destiny is that they do not believe in God. Those who do not believe in God will believe in money and power. If Christians have power in the workplace, they must act impartially, otherwise it will be difficult to obtain peace. A person lives by God, not by man. When God helps you resist the enemy, no one will dare to deal with you. If you are Abraham, those who bless him will be blessed, and those who curse him will be cursed. A person without God will have a hard life. Only with God will one obtain peace. The key to obtaining peace is to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

Have a Merciful Heart

Brothers and sisters, have a merciful heart. For example: Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain. (Deuteronomy 25:4) Imagine an ox walking around treading grain, and if its mouth is muzzled, even though there is food all around, it cannot reach its mouth. That feeling must be very painful. God has compassion even for oxen, let alone humans. In my primary school days, there was a subject called studying industry and agriculture. Every year when it was time to harvest fruit, students would be sent to farmers' homes to help pick fruit. There was a rule when picking fruit: you can eat as much as you want, but you cannot take it home. People understand this matter very well. Do not put such a temptation before brothers and sisters: allowing them to pick fruit in the orchard, but not letting them eat any. Think about how much fruit a person can eat. Those little crabapples are very sour. Some of my gluttonous classmates felt very uncomfortable after eating them, and their teeth were sore. Therefore, we should all not be gluttonous; many diseases are caused by eating too much.

We must also have mercy when raising animals, and those who abuse animals will also be judged by God. God cares about the matter of an ox treading grain, because it is humans who muzzle the ox, and it is humans who abuse animals. Such people are very cruel, and God does not delight in such people. If you carefully observe those who live well in society, you will find that they are all people who act justly and love mercy, and are definitely not corrupt individuals. Earlier, we talked about shedding human blood being a great sin. Today, some people shed human blood in order to live well, but as a result, they live even worse, because God will judge such people. We can have peace in this world because of God. My whole family followed me in believing in the Lord, and they all have peace because of God. Life without God is truly bitter. One is frightened at the slightest thing, not knowing what the future holds. People live in fear. When one has no money, one has the fear of having no money; when one has money, one has the fear of having money.

All the problems in the world have an answer. This is not what we say, but the result we live out. The testimonies that have recently occurred among us are all problems that cannot be solved by human methods. A few days ago, we met a couple who were senior managers. Their child has been having seizures for four and a half years since the age of six. Can you imagine the feeling of helplessness when parents see their child having a seizure every time, but are powerless to do anything? That is utter helplessness and pain. Later, through someone's introduction, they found us. I led the brothers and sisters to pray for them in shifts from 3:00 AM to 6:00 AM every day. That time is when people sleep most soundly, and in traditional Chinese medicine theory, it is the time to nourish a certain organ, but we only thought about one thing, which is to act justly, to love mercy, and to have compassion for this family and this child.

A miraculous thing happened. After a few days, the child completely stopped having seizures. The moment of complete healing finally arrived. We not only hope that the child will come out of this pain, but we also hope that the child's parents will also come out of the wrong idea of I have to work hard to live well. We must re-examine the thoughts and intentions within us. If we do not have God today, how will we live in this world? Even a seizure problem cannot be solved, let alone cancer, osteonecrosis of the femoral head, arthritis, mental illness, and so on. Some years ago, a child's father, who was only in his 50s, said to me: Alas, I now have 1 million in my hand, but that 1 million is not enough for me to see a doctor. In the past in China, one million was still a lot of money, but he was so worried that he could not sleep at night. Why was that? It turned out that he calculated the accounts like this: getting cancer costs 400,000, getting rheumatoid arthritis costs 300,000, and then... after counting only two illnesses, all 1 million was spent. Calculated in this way, it is indeed not enough. Then, if a person without 1 million encounters such a thing, the ending would be even more miserable. The way to solve these problems is to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

True Compassion

What God dislikes most is seeing people die without offspring. Having no descendants is definitely a curse for us Chinese. God wants people to be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. There was a girl named Tamar who married Judah's eldest son. Judah's eldest son was wicked, and God took his life. His second son was also wicked, and God also took his life. As a result, Tamar was determined to have children from Judah's family. God does not want people to die without offspring. God wants people to have descendants. Among all of God's creations, the most wonderful is the seed.

If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity. (Deuteronomy 25:11-12)

God cares very much about the matter of seeds. A woman attacked another person's weakest spot in order to protect her husband, and the woman's hand was cut off. What exactly is compassion? Cutting off is compassion. Because this woman did something that would cause someone to die without offspring. This is not a trivial matter.

What is true compassion? God does not allow people to bully the weak. God will blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven, but King Saul left the Amalekite king alive. Is this compassion? No, this is human compassion.

God's compassion is true compassion, and God's humility is true humility. Do you know what God wanted to do to the Amalekites? God said to destroy all the Amalekites. Saul killed them all. Don't you think this is compassion? Today, all who are willing to build God's glorious church are children of God. What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Fools think that God was too harsh in destroying Sodom. Anyone who passed through Sodom was raped to death. The Canaanites even killed their own children and offered them on altars to worship idols. Are these people worthy of compassion? What God says to destroy must be destroyed, and what God says to raise up must be raised up. Is it necessary to have compassion for God's enemies? We must take God's compassion as compassion.

Some people gave money to the poor, and later they themselves became very poor. This is not compassion. False compassion is not justice. You shall not have in your bag two kinds of weights, a large and a small. The use of dishonest scales is cursed. There will always be poor people in this world. The poor have reasons for their poverty, because they sow the curse of poverty, so they reap the seeds of poverty.

Building the Church Requires Mingding Destiny

Those who bless Abram will be blessed, and those who curse Abram will be cursed. Building the church cannot be done with false compassion; it will corrupt faith if left in the church. Clean them out! Only then will the church be stable.

The church cannot keep people without Mingding Destiny. Brothers and sisters come among us for deliverance. We have compassion on you, but after healing and deliverance, there must be Mingding Destiny, because it is not possible without Mingding Destiny. The church is the body of Jesus Christ, and there cannot be garbage in the body. The body is full of people whom God considers precious!

There was a sister whose pastor only served her. This sister hoped that everyone would be served, because the other brothers and sisters also needed healing and deliverance, but her request was not granted by her pastor. But our church is a church where everyone serves. Everyone must become a disciple of Jesus Christ. If you pay the price to serve God, all your enemies will not dare to come.

God has lifted us up above all nations, and they are afraid when they see it. False compassion is not compassion. King Saul disobeyed God and had a woman's heart, and God abandoned him. Brothers and sisters must have vision and Mingding Destiny to build God's glorious church! Anyone who destroys God's glorious church is an enemy of God.

Serving with God's Justice and Compassion

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. To act justly and to love mercy is what God requires of us. If you want to enjoy peace, then do what God says. Choosing to serve God is the most astute thing to do. Do not indulge the flesh, but indulge the Spirit. Some people pay attention to health and eat organic food every day, but they still get cancer. So do not indulge the flesh. Choose the best blessing, and serve with God's justice and compassion. Serve God with all your heart, mind, and strength, and shepherd God's flock well.

Imitate Jacob and shepherd the flock well. In the church, shepherding God's flock is God's will. We are a church that focuses on shepherding. Do not lose your Mingding Destiny. When we obtain Mingding Destiny, we run for Mingding Destiny and live out God's glorious image!
