【Sermon】Lean on the Lord with All Your Heart

2018-02-11 27,932 Sermon

1. Foreword

Last week, my topic was: With God, all things are possible to those who believe. Today, let us not think that living is merely existing; understand the meaning of life. What people need most is a God who performs miracles. We are alive because of God, and our joy and peace come from Him, not from our own abilities. Faith plays a crucial role; with faith, one can receive blessings and solve all problems.

Miracles often happen to those with faith. Faith is essential in critical moments; with faith, anything can happen. Transforming a person's life means passing on faith, blessing more people by spreading faith. Believers will experience miraculous signs. Faith plays a critical role, especially in times of despair, when we face difficulties and helplessness, on the brink of despair. Regardless of the circumstances, maintain faith.

Someone asked me, Have you seen Jesus? I said I haven't, but people have imitated Him. When I traveled to Israel, I saw someone wearing a white robe and chains, with hair resembling Jesus in movies. He looked similar because he was Indian, but that's not the point. We cannot see God at will, but He helps me in times of despair. When I was jobless and facing despair, He blessed me with a job.

How wonderful it is to have miracles, transforming from an ordinary person to a divine being. We must have a stubborn faith, never giving up until we find it. Practicing faith brings blessings.

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues. (Mark 16:17, NIV)

To become a miracle worker, start doing practical things that edify people. Don't focus on appearances; superficial efforts are useless and often done for others to see, without truly building oneself up. What are we doing things for now? For our growth, not just appearances. To edify others, do it through faith, and give others faith.

A sister asked me, What should I do when encountering someone in despair? I said it's simple; teach them to pass on faith to others, free from any constraints. Who should you trust in times of difficulty? Blessed are those who trust in God; those who love God will surely be blessed. Whether you see God or not is not important; the effect of faith is evident. Blessed are those who trust in God; with immense faith, the blessings God gives us are great.

Some people blindly believe, which is superstition. Faith is trusting in the Lord your God with all your heart. Many scriptures we haven't read or understood if they are God's words. I am a practical person; for example, I need to learn to write computer programs, or it will be gibberish. Closing your eyes and doing things is not the way; you need to study the Bible well. Examine Bible study materials with a critical attitude, and be sure to study the Bible and trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. That is not true intelligence, trusting in God's word is true intelligence.

2. Scripture:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6, NIV)

Many people have experienced God but still abandon Him. Do not be wise in your own eyes; remove the bad things from your mind. Without wisdom and intelligence, you cannot live well.

3. Prayer:

Lord, grant us wisdom and intelligence, so that in all we do, we single-mindedly acknowledge you. We are willing to trust in you. Help us, Lord, to do more practical things and less superstition. May the Lord build up our lives, making us wise and intelligent, fearing you, knowing your word more, establishing a correct belief system, relying on your word in all we say and do. You will keep us away from evil and manifest your glory, making us a blessing in this generation.

4. The Matter of Intelligence

A sister asked me, Do you think we are too anxious in our work? I said, Yes, I want the brothers and sisters to become smarter. During a sister's driving, she saw a straight lane but turned into a left turn lane, and returning to the correct lane could result in a fine. We must look ahead carefully and follow the correct procedure. The process of reading is also a time to seek wisdom. Some books by famous people are excellent, and in the process of reading, we can find ways to do things. Someone told me that he reads a lot, but I asked him if he had ever read the Bible. The Bible has annual print runs of tens of millions worldwide, topping the charts. I enjoy reading the Bible; eating, drinking, and having fun are not God's will.

Read important books, like those God has written for us, which are excellent. Have the facts before you speak. A boss had a son with epilepsy. Recently, he read Ecclesiastes in the Bible, which begins by discussing the vanity of the world. He also read our book Recognizing the Vanity of Life. After reading it, his mind became very clear. Knowing that intelligence is related to reading God's Word.

Some business people consult me on business issues. I read many books, such as Suffering and Glory, which discusses China's history over the past 100 years. I like discussing history, and I also like the book of Proverbs. Wisdom is more important than fine gold.

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. (Proverbs 3:13-15, NIV)

Later, I pondered the question of how can people become smarter. People must not be self-righteous. Self-righteous people are not smart. I have some self-awareness, knowing that there is always someone better. The Lord says not to rely on your own understanding. Actually, I'm not stupid, but I don't rely on my own understanding. But many people who aren't smart dare to rely on their own understanding. Don't be self-righteous, don't be rigid, keep improving and moving forward.

Some people ask me, How can what you say now be different from what you said five years ago? Of course, the me of five years ago cannot be compared to the me of five years later. I have grown in five years, so we must know that Jesus is your Lord, the Bible is God's word. I am not your Lord, just your brother. Let's study the Bible together well.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-8, NIV)

5. Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart, and Do Not Rely on Your Own Understanding

Let us examine ourselves carefully to see where we are relying on our own understanding. Relying on our own understanding is truly not good. On the road of life, there are two paths: one path is to rely on oneself, believing that human will can conquer nature; the other path is to trust in God, which is a state of mind. I used to do IT research, and I was among the earliest to get involved with the internet, even earlier than Jack Ma by several years. Today, how many people are unwilling to use non-smart phones? If a phone cannot access the internet or store things, many people are unwilling to use it. Today, we use supercomputers, and modern cloud computing technology is very powerful. A small laptop, if not connected to the internet, can only do some simple word processing, nothing else. It is as if when we are connected to God, God's revelation comes upon us.

In today's life, it is difficult to live without the internet, and non-networked devices are hard to use. You can't even use ride-hailing services when you go out. Brothers and sisters, do not close off your minds, but connect your minds to the internet, which is our Lord Jehovah God.

Without satellites in the sky, cell phones cannot navigate. 20 years ago, cell phones would have been the most sophisticated equipment for the military; now, everyone has one. The limitations of an individual lead to the limitations of a team, and then to the infinity of God, which is intelligence. Why read books? Reading books is connecting to the author's resources. Whether you like spiritual matters or not, it is better to explain spiritual things with spiritual words. The operations in the spiritual realm operate according to faith. In the spiritual world, everything becomes possible through faith.

6. Explaining Spiritual Matters with Spiritual Words

In reality, science sometimes cannot solve everything. For example, in programs like The Brain, even a seemingly simple child, perhaps unable to fully care for themselves, can solve incredibly complex mathematical problems. Humans cannot explain why this is, but we know what is happening in the spiritual realm.

We must learn more about the spiritual world and begin to be wise, knowing to rely on God. The spiritual realm operates according to faith. Concentrating on and relying on God brings great blessings. Do not think that you can overcome by yourself; your own cleverness cannot accomplish great things. Now, begin to change your mindset. Entrust your problems to God; He is our reliance, and He will surely protect us.

We will encounter many problems now. For instance, we face work-related issues. Someone who does not rely on Jehovah will experience much stress, frustration, and a bad mood, accomplishing nothing. However, if you concentrate on and rely on Jehovah, it is different. Do not depend on your own abilities. Your heart will be filled with hope. Focusing on relying on Jehovah brings peace and fills you with hope. If you improve your relationship with God, He will solve all your problems.

We must not rely on our own cleverness. If you rely on God today, you will find that the feeling inside is much better. Although our problems may not be solved, the feeling of distress disappears. Your mood and entire being become different, and you act differently. In all that we do, we must acknowledge Him. Rely on God in small and large matters. For those who believe, all things are possible. Acknowledge Him in everything.

Rely on God in life and work, in big and small matters. Entrust even the smallest things to Him; do not depend on your own intelligence. For example, consider a business. You have no connections, no resources, nothing at all – no people, empty-handed. But if you entrust it to God, He will surely provide a solution. Concentrate on and rely on God. The birds of the air do not sow or reap, yet God still feeds them. Instead of worrying about many things at night, it is better to concentrate on and rely on God, and you will wake up the next day feeling relaxed. We must give people hope.

Let's talk about the Dao in Sun Tzu's Art of War. If there is no Dao, others cannot continue, and things will not last long; they will fail. Now, know that God is the Dao, and the Dao is God. A business with the Dao, with unity of purpose, will prosper. Relying on God is the Dao. Observe those around you who rely on God; they are all blessed people. The path of one's life requires the Dao. Do not just live without it and think you are doing well.

With God, there is foresight. People need to walk the right path in life. The positioning system for life is God and His Word. Build a Godly belief system for life. Why, then, bother with managing interpersonal relationships? Because you lack wisdom and intelligence inside, you lack a system of faith in God. If you concentrate on and rely on Jehovah, relying on Him in all that you do, your behavior patterns will change, and your problems will be solved. When you depart from God again, the consequences are severe. Do not miss the crossroads; establish a holistic system for living, stay away from evil, and fear God.

7. He Will Direct Your Paths

God is a faithful God; His promises all carry the word shall. God's promises are faithful. God will surely guide our paths. For example, in the mobile phone industry, one wrong step can lead to immediate collapse. God constantly guides us to the right place, providing correct judgments about the future. Those who trust in God, He will surely lead, not relying on their own intelligence.

8. Do Not Be Wise in Your Own Eyes; Fear Jehovah and Turn Away from Evil.

The benefits of concentrating on and relying on Jehovah: People cannot be sure what will happen tomorrow; our vision needs to have an eternal perspective, with an attitude of fearing God. Do not be wise in your own eyes, using schemes. However, spiritual people fear God and see through the essence of things.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecclesiastes 12:13 NKJV)

I know a friend of my mother's who was laughing and talking with her just a few days ago. Two days later, we learned she had lung cancer. After getting sick, she went to the hospital for treatment but passed away not long after. If you love the world too much, you will develop dementia and be unable to solve problems. If you understand today that the occurrence of things has a root cause, what are you worrying about now? Begin to have a God-fearing perspective; do not be wise in your own eyes. But because spiritual people see through the essence of life, they ultimately fear God. The essence of Ecclesiastes is to follow God's Word. Whether a person is good or evil, God will surely judge. Living a tangled life in this world is itself a form of judgment. People should also live wisely and not be troubled by too many things on this earth, becoming unhappy.

9. Establish a System of Faith that Fears and Trusts God

My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3:1-4 NKJV)

God's laws can guide your path, which requires us to establish a navigation system for life.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. (Proverbs 3:5-8 NKJV)

As recorded in verses 5-8, It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones, telling us that God's Word can also be a source of our healing.

Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. (Proverbs 3:9-10 NKJV)

If we want this kind of financial blessing, we must honor Jehovah with our wealth and the firstfruits of all our produce. I think many brothers and sisters also know that my life is very blessed by God, and this is also because I am a person who gives offerings. I encourage brothers and sisters to also voluntarily express our hearts to God, removing our petty farmer mentality.

My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights. (Proverbs 3:11-12 NKJV)

Know that God's discipline and correction will make us wise, because God is wisdom, so He imparts wisdom to us. To gain wisdom, we need to concentrate on and rely on Jehovah, and God will be the beautiful adornment of our lives.

Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her. The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens; By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew. My son, let them not depart from your eyes— Keep sound wisdom and discretion; So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught. (Proverbs 3:13-26 NKJV)

God's Word has many wonderful promises. If I were to continue reading, I'm afraid I would end up reading the entire Bible. Today, our sermon's theme is that relying on God has no problems, but not relying on God will cause many problems. Do not think that believing in the Lord is a strange thing. Our faith is beneficial to the country and society. We are turning people into talents, making them strong. Know that those who trust in God, God will protect you, keeping you from being ensnared. May everyone become a wise person!
