【Course】Unraveling Myths Lesson 09 - Complete Reliance on God's Revelation

2019-03-07 8,056 001B Course - Unlocking Myths Course

Introduction

I want to share with you a misconception that comes purely from being moved by the Holy Spirit. I have encountered many Christians who like to do things based on the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and they also like to pray, but it doesn't sound quite right. Let me ask you a question: If you take a driving test relying solely on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, can you pass? Probably not.

Lately, I've noticed many similar situations where people like to rely on the revelation of the Holy Spirit for everything. Some things are obvious. If you don't study mathematics properly, don't learn to drive, and don't fulfill your responsibilities, yet rely on the revelation of the Holy Spirit, can such a person get into university? Can they get a driver's license?

Some people are very strange. For example, one brother failed his driving test, and when his leader asked him what the problem was, he said, I think it's a spiritual issue. How to explain it? Failing the driving test seems to be the devil's interference. Some time ago, one of our brothers failed three times, and he also said it was a spiritual issue, but is that really the case?

When I was young, I heard many strange theories, thinking that burning incense at a temple could get you into university. Isn't that strange? I think one should fulfill one's responsibilities to the fullest. If you understand, you understand; if you don't understand, you don't understand. The most amazing thing about Christians is that they pass the buck to the devil. The devil is quite wronged: I get blamed for not doing well in exams and failing driving tests.

Wouldn't you say the devil is very unlucky? No wonder the devil complains to Jesus all the time. We should develop good habits. We should be very clear in our understanding about everything we do. If you are not clear in your understanding, if you don't understand, the programs you write will all be gibberish.

Spirituality and Understanding Cannot Replace Each Other

The Bible says:

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. (1 Corinthians 14:15)

The spirit can release God's power, but one cannot fail to know God in understanding. The Bible is written in black and white, all for us. If you don't read it, you won't understand. I give you a suggestion: We should strive to know God in understanding. Understanding is very important.

Recently, I have been doing renovations, and through the renovations, I see people's level of understanding. For example, if they plaster the wall like it has acne, I ask them if they see a problem. They say no. The wall either has many pimples or looks like it has smallpox; it's really interesting.

Later, I asked them, How did it become like this? What do you think about it being like this? I think their intention is that they feel it's quite good. If someone renovates your house and plasters the wall like this, would you pay them? They all say no. But why did you do it like this?

In the matter of plastering the wall, if you just pray there, God, help me plaster the wall smoothly, is that useful? That's not the way it is. Fortunately, the Jesus we believe in is a carpenter. As a carpenter, one must do things properly.

A carpenter must be very clear in understanding. If not, he cannot be a carpenter. Every dimension of everything must be just right. If you don't understand, you can't install it. It's the same with plastering a wall. If you don't know in understanding, it's troublesome. If Jesus was not born as a carpenter but as a philosopher, that would be ridiculous.

I'm telling you this to say that we must not become religious. For example, some people say, I can solve all problems by praying. How can that be? We need to pray, but we also need to know that we are fully acquainted with God in understanding. Our God is not a God who does things haphazardly. Everything is clear.

It is also precisely for this reason that our brothers and sisters have the opportunity to practice carpentry. After doing carpentry, they find that they need to break through in understanding. I am also very glad that everyone goes to take driving tests, and they have new breakthroughs in understanding. Without a breakthrough, it's just messing around, and then passing the buck to the devil.

What's the use of passing the buck to the devil? You still have to carry it. Therefore, I encourage everyone to clarify what should be clarified in understanding, and to improve what should be improved in spirituality. Praying all day long cannot replace reading the Bible, and reading the Bible cannot replace praying.

We need to know for sure that it is very important to know the essence of things in understanding. The Bible is written in black and white. We understand every word, but do you really know God? If you really know God, you know that our God doesn't like superstition very much. We must worship God in spirit and truth, and not be too religious.

Full Intellectual Understanding of God, Removing Religious Overtones

I urge the pastors among us to have intellectual understanding, to know what our goals and strategies are. If the goals are unclear, the strategies are vague, and the methods are incorrect, we are finished. Whether you like it or not, professionals must solve problems.

Some people do not want to understand these things. They only think about praying, as if burning incense, and suddenly a miracle will happen. Then people do not have to do anything or to think about anything.

For example, there may be testimonies of how money suddenly appears in the account without knowing why. This is also very good, God helps in times of need, but should we remain at this stage? We cannot. Christians must learn to take responsibility for themselves.

If you carefully observe and do God's words, God will bless the work of your hands. Do not do nothing. I worry that we will become a group of mystics, using religious jargon to cover up our inner conditions in any situation.

I say these things because I need to remove some myths among us. In our core values, we must intellectually understand the essence of things, rather than using prayer to replace intellectual laziness. Our God gave us brains so that we can clearly know Him.

We rely on our brains to read the 《Bible》. After reading the 《Bible》, can we understand God's words? Are we intellectually clear about what kind of God He is? So brethren, learn mathematics well, learn driving well when taking driving lessons. As professionals, do your professional work well. This is my advice to everyone. Do not blame everything on the devil.

Pastor, greetings! My child is 4 years old and has cerebral palsy, unable to walk or talk. Should we go to a rehabilitation center for rehabilitation training (although the effects are not very noticeable), or should we simply rely on prayer to cast out demons? Thank you!

Reply: Both are possible. Don't worry, do whatever you believe in faith.
@George: 牧师,好!我的孩子4岁脑瘫还不会走路不会说话,请问是否需要去康复中心去做康复训练(其实康复效果非常不明显),还是我们仅仅靠祷告搞鬼。谢谢!
