Introduction
Today, we will be speaking on the topic, Jesus Can Save Us Forever. Just hearing it makes one feel particularly good. Why this topic? Because in the previous chapter, the author talked about striving to enter into completeness, even mentioning that the end of incompleteness is curse and burning. We might then think about moving from incompleteness to completeness, and sometimes a devilish lie is unleashed: Look at you, how incomplete you are. This can lead to discouragement and distress.
From Faith to Faith
Chapter Six speaks about dedicating ourselves, just as Abraham offered Isaac. I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring (cf. Genesis 22:17), and then Abraham received God's promise. Some might say, God, I can't offer my own son to you. It's over, let's just forget it. How can I enter into completeness?
Today, we really need to address a problem. In reality, Jesus saving us forever is a process of moving from incompleteness to completeness. He wants to be your ever-present help. Brothers and sisters, know that the God we believe in today is from faith to faith.
People who have not offered tithes are not even Christians. Being spared from a curse is something to be thankful for, yet they still hesitate about tithing because they haven't grasped the essence.
Today, we must know that it’s okay if we don’t tithe in the beginning, but we can start by offering a tenth. You will find it’s a particularly good thing. Then offer 20% and even offer the love of your life, offer yourself completely, it is a constant growing progress. Abraham was seventy-five years old when he was called, and he was about one hundred and thirty years old when he offered up Isaac to God. For fifty or sixty years, Abraham held on to this hope.
We must understand that our God is a God from faith to faith. As long as you believe and keep striving, you will see God as your ever-present help; He will surely save you to the end.
It’s so great that we have this God! Because God has predestined our victory. If Abraham could run this race in the Old Testament era before Jesus was crucified, then with Jesus Christ, He will surely save us to the end. That high priest who has ascended into heaven is ever ready to help us. Through our strenuous pursuit, from an incomplete person, we can eventually enter within the veil and be completely united with God, and trample all things under our feet. This is Mingding Destiny.
An Attitude of Continuous Pursuit
If your faith is like a mustard seed, you can move this mountain from here into the sea, and God will surely accomplish it for you. This is a faith from faith to faith. Our God is faithful, and we can start by offering a little, gradually increasing it until we completely offer ourselves. As long as we never retreat and keep striving, God will become our ever-present help, and He will lead us into completeness.
However, we Christians often live in confusion. Every time I minister, I meet many people who lack faith. I ask them, Do you have faith as small as a mustard seed? They say, I do, but I have many doubts inside. Actually, God never said you wouldn't have any doubts at all.
I once shared an example of a person who started kowtowing from the foot of Mount Tai, a small bow every three steps, a large bow every five steps. By the time they reached the top of Mount Tai, their head was bleeding. In the end, they gained nothing and said, Alas, my heart is not devout enough. Our God is not like that. Brothers and sisters, don't be afraid of doubts. In fact, everything inside you besides that mustard seed-sized faith is doubt. But even so, with just that little bit of faith, God will accomplish it for you.
Our God is truly so good, He wants to help us forever, but we must have a state of pursuit, continuing to run forward, never retreating in this life. Don't think, It's because we are incomplete that the devil accuses us. Today, let's focus on where we believe, on seeing where God has already accomplished in us. Even if the devil accuses us again, it doesn't matter.
We live by faith. Although we cannot yet completely dedicate ourselves, we have taken a step closer. We should thank God that we can see God's grace in our giving. Today, brothers and sisters, try tithing, let God know you have a heart that loves Him, and you will see your blessed days about to begin.
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. (Malachi 3:10)
Here, God is asking people to test Him. After testing, you will discover what a treasure it is to gain God. You will be blessed when you offer a tithe, let alone when you offer 20%, which will be an even greater blessing. However, we cannot approach God with a transactional mindset because our God is the God who rules over all things in the universe.
We simply say, God, we want to rely on you, constantly striving, I want to grow. Today I offer a tithe, and the seeds I sow. I want to invest in God's kingdom so that there will be a bountiful return. I want to invest more. What is investment? Investment yields returns. Earthly investments have risks, but investing in God's kingdom is zero risk. Our God wants to save us forever. We start with tithing and then strive to enter into completeness, and our complete dedication of ourselves is holy and pleasing to God, and our offering is a matter of course.
If we offer, we will find that the returns are very generous. Today, in our church, have you seen anyone who has given suffer losses? No! Even though we are not yet complete, God has already been gracious to us, and the devil cannot accuse us anymore because we have a high priest who has ascended into heaven, and He gives us a faith-based life. So even if you are full of all kinds of doubts, it doesn't matter. It is quite difficult if you have no doubt in your mind about whatever you pursue.
If you think that you can only achieve what you want by having no doubts, then it will be really difficult for us to continue believing in the Lord. I tell you, don't be afraid of having doubts. Today I open a door of faith for you. This is Paul's theological concept, which is that what we believe is from faith to faith: we start from small faith and slowly become bigger; we start from small offerings and then become bigger offerings, until we completely dedicate ourselves.
As long as we are willing to fight, God predestines us to win, and then He rewards us. Where else can you find such a thing? If God gives you $1,000, $2,000, or $5,000, you take $2,000 and operate with faith, investing the money in God's kingdom, and you will definitely have a return of $2,000 because God has determined to bless you. However, if you don't dare to invest and are poor in spirit, how can you not be poor for the rest of your life?
So today, we have experienced a test, and God has allowed us to constantly experience tests on the path of faith, one victory after another, which will lead us to completeness. Do you understand? That's why the author tells us in the previous chapter that you must strive to enter into completeness, and then starts talking about chapter 7, and also tells us that there is a perfect high priest, Jesus Christ, who can truly save us forever and never give up. We have such hope and such a good God, and we have great comfort in our hearts!
Do you know what? In the past, I made many mistakes, but God did not hurt me because He wanted to save me to the end because I served Him by faith. When I served God by faith, although I didn’t understand it many times, I had a smart thing inside me, which was knowing that I didn’t do well, until one day, the Spirit of God guided me on the right path. So today in church, you will see a very magical thing, which is that God has given great grace among us, which is such a wonderful thing.
The Greatest Priest Jesus
But Jewish Christians have a great confusion: if there is already an Aaron high priest, how can there be a Jesus high priest? If I were a Jew, I would be confused. I think they would say, The Bible clearly tells us that Aaron is the high priest, so we still have to keep the law. Actually, it doesn't matter! Let's have Aaron's set, and we also believe in Jesus. Isn't that great? Isn't this double insurance?
Is the double insurance insured? Non-insured, because these are two different covenants. Why? The Old Covenant is just a shadow. The Jews want to believe in Jesus by keeping the law. So how to go? Can't go down! If you want both Aaron and Jesus, it will be troublesome. So the author wrote Hebrews, from the beginning to this chapter 7, giving us repeated demonstrations: God has raised a high priest who transcends the priests of the Old Testament.
If you already have a priest that transcends the level of the Old Testament Aaron, that is, according to the new priest of Melchizedek, you have a new priest, the old priest is not needed. Why? Because our Jesus Christ is the high priest who can truly save us to the end, making us enter into completeness.
So brothers and sisters, we must begin to know the confusion of the Jews. I want to step on two boats, love the world and love God. If you do this, there is no way to go on. Can you start knowing one thing? Our Lord Jesus Christ has ascended into heaven, and He has become a high priest for us. He intercedes for us and can save us to the end.
We run forward with hope, knowing that we have the status of sons, and we also know that God will surely be our ever-present help. We must constantly learn, and also know that we will face temptations, and also know that we will occasionally be weak, but we also know that we will not neglect such a great salvation.
Today, we run forward with this hope, and God begins to accomplish His beautiful plan in you because of the choices in your mind. What could be better than this! Know that Jesus Christ is really precious. If we simply choose to believe in Jesus Christ, you will see God's great grace accomplished in you because our Jesus has ascended into heaven. That is why we pray for healing, and almost everyone is released. It is not that you are complete before you can receive healing, it is that you choose to believe from the beginning and you will receive healing; it is not that you are complete before you can strive, it is that you strive when you are not complete, and you will enter into completeness!
This is what the author of Hebrews wants to keep telling Jewish Christians how to enter into God's grace. If we step on the law with one foot and the promise with the other, there is no way for you to go on! So the author wrote such a sentence:
The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect). (Hebrews 7:18)
Do you understand? This is very important! The law originally accomplished nothing. By the time of Jesus, Israel was destroyed, and the kingdom of Judah was also destroyed. It became the Roman Empire ruling Palestine. The Old Covenant brought a very serious problem, which was that the Israelites could not complete the law. That is to say, the law showed us that we can accomplish nothing by relying on the law.
But today, with Jesus Christ, the high priest who has ascended into heaven, we can strive again. It is not that we can accomplish nothing, but that we can enter into completeness, until we completely dedicate ourselves, which is such a wonderful thing. So today we must begin to know that Jesus is the high priest we need. Jesus is the high priest according to Melchizedek, and Aaron is the high priest according to his rank. By the time of Jesus, this matter was revealed to us, and our Jesus spoke with authority and acted with power. Our Jesus manifested the complete image of God at once, and it turned out that our Lord Jesus was according to the order of Melchizedek.
Who is Aaron? Aaron is a descendant of Abraham and belongs to the tribe of Levi. Who is Melchizedek? Melchizedek is the ancestor of the Israelites, and Abraham also offered Melchizedek a tithe. If Jesus Christ is according to the order of Melchizedek, our Jesus Christ is actually greater than Abraham, and Abraham is greater than Aaron. We must know that Jesus is the high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. This is a transcendence, so the law of Aaron's order is not needed.
Because our Jesus Christ is the high priest by virtue of being the Son, Aaron is only an employee sent by God to be the high priest. So we must know that Jesus is the high priest by virtue of revelation, promise, and life, while Aaron is the high priest by virtue of physical regulations and the law. Our Jesus Christ is powerful, but the priests of Aaron's class are useless, weak and useless.
Our Jesus Christ is alive forever, but Aaron is separated by death; know that Jesus Christ has no sin and is holy, while Aaron has sin; our Jesus Christ is strong and victorious, and the high priests of Aaron's class are weak and failed; Aaron offers bull and sheep, and Jesus Christ offers himself.
Our Jesus Christ, as the high priest and that position will never be replaced, but the high priest's position of Aaron is often replaced. Such a high priest as our Lord Jesus Christ, who is holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners, and highly exalted above the heavens, is suitable for us. And the priests like Aaron who often offer sacrifices for their own sins are not suitable. Do you still need to step on two boats? Do you still want to be justified by the law? Today, through faith in Jesus Christ, we enter into the promise and blessing of Abraham Chinese Mingding Destiny.
Faith Like a Mustard Seed
This is what we are going to talk about today. If you look and listen carefully, you will understand. The Jesus Christ we believe in is truly amazing! As long as we have faith like a mustard seed, we can receive great grace. One mustard seed can become a hundred thousand mustard seeds. One mustard seed in us can do great things, so what about a hundred thousand mustard seeds? Know that the Jesus Christ we believe in begins with faith and leads to faith. Do not believe those nonsense talks about having no doubts at all. How come I have never seen anyone without any doubts? I don't think I am one of them.
I always have some doubts. When the pressure comes, I cry out, God, my God, please take me away! When the pressure comes, God, my God, please help me! Because we often face great challenges, people tend to focus on the difficulties. When they see the difficulties, they feel terrible. Feeling terrible at the sight of difficulties, they come back and say, God, please help me quickly!
We have a great high priest – Jesus Christ, who is our hope. It is wonderful to have such hope! With such hope, we can run fearlessly, striving to enter into the perfect path; with such hope, we will cling to our God. We know that although we are not perfect, our God will never abandon us.
If our God will never abandon us, how can we neglect such a great salvation? How can we not endure all kinds of temptations? How can we not learn and continue to improve? We will definitely learn and continue to improve. We must know that our God is our ever-present help in times of weakness. When we are occasionally weak, it is wonderful to return to God.
Last Tuesday, while leading prayer, I was really weak, tired, and struggling, with my faith almost gone. So, I led everyone in prayer while weeping. Why? Because it was too difficult. We encountered too much pressure, but I thank God, truly thank God. During prayer, God strengthened me again. Where we are weak, our God becomes our strength. What could be better than this?
So, I prayed until I cried. Our God is truly amazing! He leads us when we are not yet perfect; He helps us overcome when we cannot yet triumph; He will not let us be put to shame when we trust in Him. We have a God who can save us to the end.
I encourage every brother and sister among us to begin to have a love for God. If you have a love for God in your heart, it does not matter even if you are not yet perfect. Because you have a love for God in your heart and strive to be like Him, you will experience His wonders every day, experience His splendor every day, and live in His grace every day. What could be better than this?
Rely on God's Power
Among us, there are not many who are wise from a human perspective, not many who are powerful, and not many who are noble. But our God will destroy the wisdom of the wise and set aside the intelligence of the intelligent. Since the world through its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. This is the wisdom of God.
Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. (1 Corinthians 1:26-30)
It's truly wonderful! So today, I tell you:
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)
Did you hear that? You may see yourself as nothing, but it doesn't matter. Our God will surely do wonderful things in you with His Spirit and power, so that your faith may not rest on human wisdom, not on human nobility, not on human ability, but on God's work within you. Because our God will surely save you to the end, our God wants to manifest His glory through our weaknesses. What a wonderful promise this is!
Among us, some brothers and sisters may not be well-educated or very capable, but they serve God with all their strength, and God blesses them. In the past, when I saw her with my carnal eyes, I said, God, what should I do? What should I do with such a foolish person? But God shamed me, God exalts those who seem insignificant, those who seem unintelligent in the eyes of others.
Today, I thank God that those who are not wise, not very wise, not very noble, and not very capable, are now earning a high salary. That is the power of God, the work of God.
Today, among us, let us no longer rely on our own abilities, no longer rely on human methods, no longer rely on human wisdom. Let our faith be built on the power of God, because our God is the God who saves us, and He will save us to the end. It is not because we are good enough that God saves us; it is because we are bad enough that God saves us. Because we are bad enough, we look down on ourselves, but we look up to our God.
We have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, who rose from the dead and ascended before five hundred disciples, and who remains our great high priest to this day, interceding for us. When we are weak, He quickly becomes our strength. That is not according to the law, not according to the rules, not according to the flesh, not according to human ability, but according to human faith. As long as you believe, He will surely save you to the end.
God predestined us to receive glory before all ages, not the glory received from people, but the glory received from God. None of the rulers of this age, the powerful, the capable, understood this wisdom. If they had, they would not have crucified the glorious Lord Jesus.
Seeing Through All Things, Having a Pure Heart of Love for God
It doesn't matter if the brothers and sisters among us are bad or weak, as long as you have a pure heart of love for God. God has prepared for those who love Him what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has conceived, but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
Today, begin to see through, see through all these things, count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus. Count what we once considered beneficial as harmful today; what we once looked down upon, we must now know that Jesus Christ is our treasure. No longer be a person of the flesh, but be a spiritual person. A spiritual person understands all things, but no one can understand him.
We cannot understand how such a foolish person can perform so well in the workplace. Because that is the power of God, nothing is impossible with God. What good news this is! So brothers and sisters among us, listen to me again, it is not by might, not by power, not by human wisdom, not by wise and persuasive words, but by God's Spirit working in you. He will accomplish a beautiful plan in you. This is our Jesus Christ.
This is Jesus Christ, who is according to the order of Melchizedek, not according to the order of Aaron. Then you might say, What is the order of Aaron for? The order of Aaron only silences us. Because what the Jews could not do, you cannot think of doing. Do not rely on the law, the law only shuts our mouths and prevents us from boasting about our own abilities.
Today, we must step out of relying on our own abilities, relying on methods, and relying on various forms of things. Only by relying on our Lord Jesus Christ can we enter into perfection. So brothers and sisters, do not value your methods, nor value your abilities, value your faith in God, your love for God in your heart.
So today, brothers and sisters, I encourage you to start with a little offering, start with tithing, from tithing then to two-tenths, and finally to a whole person, whole body, and whole heart offering. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind, and serve Him alone. We will surely see that our God will set us above all nations and put all things under our feet. This is God's good will! He will surely save you to the end.
So brothers and sisters, with such hope, fulfill God's promise. Do not be afraid even when you are weak. Even if you are weak and stop, then I tell you, God will surely save you. Begin to lift up your head again and look to our Jesus Christ. He will save us to the end. You can weep, you can sweat, you can bleed, but you cannot lose your faith in God. He will surely save you forever and ever, Amen!
