Introduction

Good morning, everyone. Let us turn to Hosea Chapter 10, which is themed The King of Israel Shall Be Utterly Cut Off. This world has a culture of strongmen, and violence fills the earth. Do not underestimate these strongmen. Genesis Chapter 6 mentions that in Noah's generation, the earth was filled with human violence. If the king of Israel is utterly destroyed, the people will be even more helpless.

The Better Life Gets, the More People Worship Idols

When people's lives improve, they tend to worship idols more, which is a sign of utter destruction. Looking back at human history, especially the history of Israel in the Old Testament, they put God in a very uncomfortable position. God's intention is for people to live well, but when their lives improve, they abandon God, creating a vicious cycle.

If you read Judges and Kings, you will find people very strange. When they are exhausted and living miserably, they cry out to God, who sends someone to save them. Once saved and their lives improve and become prosperous, they choose to abandon God. Then God allows foreigners to attack them, and their land is plundered, which is a clear depiction of a Christian's life.

After being attacked again, the Israelites cried out to God after more than twenty years. God sent someone to save them again, in a repeating cycle! Later, I observed that modern Christians are also like this. Let me remind you, when people live miserably, lacking even the courage and qualification to love the world, and their dreams of worldly pleasures vanish, they begin to call on God.

God's mercy is upon you because of the service and shepherding of us pastors, and your life begins to improve. However, as soon as you start to get better, you act foolishly. I am perplexed, wondering how people can be so foolish. When their lives improve, they should be more reverent and grateful to God, but the opposite happens.

Israel is a luxuriant vine that yields its fruit. The more his fruit increased, the more altars he built; as his country improved, he improved his pillars. (Hosea 10:1)

If a person's goal is just to live better on earth, they will worship idols. The better people's lives get, the more they worship idols, which has become a representation of human history and a sign of destruction! This is why there are so many tragedies on earth. If you have the opportunity to meet Christians from different countries, you will find that Christians around the world are like this. In difficult circumstances, they have some faith in God, but when life gets better, they begin to abandon Him. This is more evident in developed countries. Previously, we thought these countries were developed because of their good systems. However, it does not have as much to do with the quality of the systems, but it is because of a group of people who love God, and God had mercy on them. Because they possessed the nature and character of the Puritans, God blessed them, and the area miraculously became richer and stronger. However, people forgot that their good days were due to God's mercy on their ancestors, and they began to love idolatry more and more, and they have become what they are now. It is not hard to predict that they will be destroyed in the future because they have provoked God's anger.

The situation of the Israelites was the same. God had mercy on them, seeing their miserable state, but when they turned around slightly, they became even more enthusiastic about idolatry. Some people inherently love money, and when they have a little money, they start to feel great and think about spending it quickly to indulge themselves. These people inherently cannot withstand God's grace; they cannot withstand the blessings God gives them. Is this not a tragedy? God wants us to live in His grace and to prosper, because God loves prosperity, but as soon as people prosper, they immediately fall into the trap of money. For example, a person initially loves God, but suddenly gets RMB 100 million, achieving a small goal. It may not even need RMB 100 million; receiving one million is enough to make them forget who they are. We need to carefully examine our financial management. If you are still living in a relatively miserable state, you need to think carefully about where your money has gone.

If, after reflection, you find that you cannot hold water, as the Chinese say, thick virtue carries things, your virtue and destiny are too thin to bear God's blessings. I am surprised that some people have earned a lot of money every month for many years, but when asked, they say they only have a few tens of thousands of yuan in hand. I cannot figure out how they have so little savings, and I do not bother to investigate. I know without thinking that they inherently love money and lack virtue. So, they show off as soon as they have money, and once they show off, the money is gone. Consider whether you have this problem.

Some people genuinely cannot withstand God's blessings. The Israelites were like this. Starting with King Jeroboam, he was not destined to be king, nor was he king material. God gave him a throne, and he forgot who he was. As a result, his whole family died miserably. What was the purpose of being king in the first place? You must know that God wants us to live prosperously, but whether you can bear it and withstand this test of prosperity depends on your own virtue.

The Day of Israel's Condemnation Has Arrived

Do not think everything is fine if you are living well. Know that the day of God's condemnation comes not because of anything else, but because of the sins you have sown, and God does not let them grow out. The sins sown by the Israelites grew for two hundred years, and finally, the day of God's condemnation arrived. Let me give you an example: During these two hundred years of sin's growth, an Israelite earned a lot of money, lived very prosperously, and lived in a very beautiful mansion. The garden was built like a Suzhou garden—an Israeli garden—and could even compare with Solomon's garden. He thought he was living very well. We must learn a lesson: do not wait until the day of God's condemnation arrives to think about turning back to God. By then, it will be completely impossible to reverse. I give you a suggestion: start changing now. Perhaps you still have a chance to turn back to God before condemnation, and sow righteousness for yourself.

Why will the day of condemnation come? Because the Israelites felt they were living well and felt justified in lying and making false oaths. They thought, I just signed a big deal yesterday and earned a lot of money. Let's see if those who owe me money dare not pay it back. If they do not, I will deal with them. Does that sound domineering? Let us observe this generation. Many people are rampant, like those who beat people beyond recognition in barbecue restaurants, thinking they had protection. In the end, the protection failed, and even the protective umbrella was uprooted.

The same thing had happened many times before without incident, but they never thought this time would be the last. Now, they can only slowly endure it in prison. As for what will happen in prison, who knows? Once the protective umbrella is broken and cannot provide cover, even the prison guards can treat them as they please. Even if they can bring the underworld into the prison, they can only be the boss of the prisoners in the prison. What is the point of that? So, do not be rampant before the day of condemnation arrives.

Their heart is false; now they must bear their guilt. The Lord will break down their altars and destroy their pillars. (Hosea 10:2)

We must remember that God's actions are often like this: He lets you be rampant for a while. It is fine to earn money; it is fine to be rampant, but one day the day of condemnation will come. If you reflect on yourself, looking at your past virtue, you will think of how we used to be like that, too. We should learn a lesson from the history of the Israelites. A historian said that the only lesson one can learn from history is that people will never learn any lessons from history. That is how people are; although they have seen much, they forget everything when it comes to themselves. Should we start learning lessons from history now?

Those brothers and sisters who love money and the world can no longer sow seeds of loving the world and being cursed! You have already paid a heavy price for loving the world. Now God is giving you time and an opportunity to repent, but how much have you repented? I understand that some people inherently love money, but in my heart, loving money is like loving joss paper.

Although money can buy many things, and real money sounds more real, what is the point of buying things again and again? If you sow curses, the day of condemnation follows. When the day of condemnation arrives, it is almost impossible to reverse. I am not scaring you, because what you sow, you must reap. You must quickly uproot what has not yet grown so that you do not have to wait for the day of condemnation to arrive.

Having a double mind means both wanting to rely on God and also wanting to exploit God to satisfy one's selfish desires. We must never wait until we are full of iniquity to realize this. When the fruit grows, that is when the trouble starts. We must repent now. A wise person never waits until the day of condemnation comes to think about repenting but repents before the day of condemnation arrives.

Actually, my heart is often in pain because the problems of those I have served are all based on their inherent knowledge of good and evil and their indulgence of the flesh, and it all stems from loving the old horse and having a double mind. The things people do become difficult when the seeds bear fruit, so you cannot continue to sow them. Now that the day of condemnation has not yet come, God will give you another chance.

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. (Hosea 10:12)

God still gives you a chance, but until when?

Worldly Systems Are Not Effective

The inhabitants of Samaria tremble for the calf of Beth-aven. Its people shall mourn for it, and so shall its priests who rejoiced over it, for its glory has departed from it. (Hosea 10:5)

Is it not strange that people give glory to the calf when they are living well? God endures them for a day, a year, ten years, but they always think that the calf is effective. Actually, it is not effective. It only seems effective because they are pursuing things of the world. In recent years, I have learned a lot about things in the spiritual realm. When I was not yet a complete believer, I just walked into a church to seek. After the meeting ended, those who were hosting let the newcomers raise their hands, and then they took them outside to gather at tables for tea and coffee. I was one of them, and I met another interesting newcomer who had gone to temples to worship idols. After worshipping, he received a lottery number and won many big prizes. With that money, he bought ten houses. It is impressive to be able to buy ten houses in Singapore.

I like to listen to these stories of the spiritual realm. It seems that worshiping idols is very effective. Who knew that later, the thing in the temple started to look for him every night, scaring him out of his wits? As soon as he closed his eyes, that thing would come and talk to him, asking him to be the host in the temple, and he would get paid. Later, he did not want to go, so the ghost started to mess with him, causing him to not be able to sleep for three months. By the time he came to the church that cast out demons, he was not his usual self and was on the verge of collapse.

Originally, worldly systems are effective on ordinary days, but they become ineffective when the day of God's condemnation arrives. It is effective to do business and make money according to worldly systems; it is effective until the company becomes insolvent. He had a lot of properties; an entire street belonged to his family. When he became insolvent, the government had to cover for him, hurting many people. Why are these worldly systems ineffective when the day of condemnation comes? Because worldly systems give you money, but when disasters strike, money cannot solve the problem.

There are countless similar cases in this generation. A once glorious airline has failed. Previously, an entire street in the provincial capital belonged to their company. A real estate tycoon has also failed. Many industries are collapsing. We see that this world has a characteristic: it is a trap. Small-scale traps use P2P, and larger-scale traps use a financial system.

Worldly systems have indeed been effective in the past. For example, as long as people win money gambling, it is effective, but when they lose money, it is not effective. On my path to believing in the Lord, I have encountered many extraordinary people. One of them was a gambling king in Southeast Asia in the 1980s and 1990s. He could go to gambling casinos by helicopter. More than thirty years ago, he had hundreds of millions of dollars, all won through gambling—that was incredible. Many people were afraid when he went to gamble because the thing behind him was very powerful. I say that worldly systems are sometimes effective because they deceive people. But it is precisely because they are sometimes effective that people continue to believe in them. But one day, when they are no longer effective, it is over. This person did not like studying since he was young, and he could not read many words. He was quite foolish. If he were smart, he would not have done this.

Later, a voice inside him told him that he could win every gamble. He was very happy to hear that. The thing entered him and changed him from then on. Even if he was dealt a bad hand, he would place his bet according to that voice, and when he revealed his hand, all the bad cards would turn into Aces. If it were made into a movie, it would be the God of Gamblers, winning every time. He was shocked. He clearly had a bad hand, but he had no idea when it had been changed. This is a story of the spiritual realm. The reason he is called the God of Gamblers is because there is an evil spirit behind him that is considered a god. Actually, he should not be called the God of Gamblers; he should be called the Gambling Spirit. Just like martial arts practitioners have martial spirits behind them. When they practice martial arts to the highest level, their martial arts are so powerful that they can injure people from a distance. We cannot understand these things in the spiritual realm.

Returning to that Southeast Asian gambling king, once the thing in the spiritual realm left him, he started to lose. At that time, he owed three million Singapore dollars, which he could never repay in his lifetime, and he almost jumped off a building to commit suicide. This is to tell everyone that worldly systems are effective in leading people to sin, but our God still reigns in this world. Worldly systems are ineffective when condemnation comes, resulting in very miserable losses.

Worshiping the calf becomes ineffective at this point, but it was indeed effective before, or the Israelites would not have worshiped it. This proves that this world is a spiritual world. Everyone must know that worldly systems often fool people. If you have experienced the disasters of P2P or other tragedies, and your money has disappeared, although God has given you a good life and you have seen a lot of money coming in and out, in the end you are left with nothing but debt, then you need to realize that you have fallen into the worldly logic system.

They utter mere words; with empty oaths they make covenants; so judgment springs up like poisonous weeds in the furrows of the field. (Hosea 10:4)

You have plowed iniquity; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your warriors, (Hosea 10:13)

Everyone slowly understands! For example, running a large company and hiring many capable people—these are all warriors, top salespeople. Later, they bought a piece of land, built a big gate, and sold all the buildings, but it is still barren land. How amazing is their salesmanship? How many people have they deceived? Although it is effective and money has come in, they have deceived people. Can such deception escape the curse? God will surely condemn it!

The King of Israel Will Be Destroyed

God will surely condemn such a profit-driven nation. That is to say, starting with the king of Israel, the golden calf of Bethel came from Jeroboam, so God will judge the king of Israel. Even the king of Israel, with all of his power in his hands, is ineffective. The common people, royal ministers, and officials are even more useless—all will be destroyed.

Samaria's king shall pass away like a twig on the face of the waters. (Hosea 10:7)

Because of your great wickedness, this shall happen to you at Bethel. At dawn the king of Israel shall be utterly cut off. (Hosea 10:15)

**They will say, “We have no king, because we do not fear the Lord; and the king—what could he do for us?” (Hosea 10:3)**

Take your time to read this carefully. Even if a nation was once devout and God granted it a prosperous kingdom, if they do not thank and praise God, but instead thank and praise their system, that is a problem. When a nation deviates from God, the king of Israel will surely perish. For those two centuries, the Israelites were very grateful to the golden calves of Bethel and Jeroboam. They believed that Jeroboam's invention was excellent, and the system he established was convenient. They no longer needed to go to the Temple of the Lord God in Judah or Jerusalem; it was sufficient to worship the golden calf at their doorstep. What Solomon's Temple, David, or Solomon? This golden calf had become the god who led them out of Egypt, and prayers to it were quite effective because they only asked for money and worldly things.

When the time of destruction came, the Israelites were terrified. They wondered why what had worked before no longer did. When they called for the king, they found that there was no king left. They were like homeless dogs, living in constant fear and only able to await their fate. My brothers and sisters, you must understand that when people reach that point, it is a tragedy. Many of us rely on money. Do not think I do not know this; few people in this world do not rely on money because this world is closely tied to money, the system of this life, and carnal things – love of face, your love, your hate, your money, your house, your business – all these things are of the Old Adam.

This is why I often say that every moment I lead you forward, I tread on thin ice, fearing that I might take the wrong path because the logic of this world is too powerful, with its penetrating and infectious force. Before you know it, you become confused. Many people, when they see their children, think of their future and then strive to study hard, learn, go to university, find a job, etc. As a result, they fall into these things, and it is difficult not to be trapped. So the Old Adam says that he has never lost a battle in this world, setting one trap after another. Once people are trapped, God's wrath descends. Whether it is the king of Israel or the people of Israel, they will be destroyed.

Human history, especially the history of Christians and Jews, proves one thing: God will use the Gentiles to attack them, and they will be destroyed by the Gentiles. Israel was destroyed by the king of Assyria, a very evil nation that invented many cruel torture devices. So, slowly enjoy it. Who told you to live with the worldly logic system all day long? We live and fall into it. Originally, we work to work, but we cannot put all our hope in the worldly logic system; we still have to rely on God.

## Disaster Will Surely Come Upon Israel

What I mentioned earlier is that the better people live, the more they like to worship idols, and as a result, people are condemned. Later, I talked about how the worldly system does not work. In fact, sometimes it works, making people feel they can rely on it, but sometimes when they rely on it, it does not work, which is too坑人了 (pitiful). Then the king of Israel perished, and the Israelites were immediately destroyed. With no king in the nation, the people had to rely on themselves.

**Therefore the tumult of war shall arise among your people, and all your fortresses shall be plundered, as Shalman plundered Beth Arbel in the day of battle when mothers were dashed in pieces with their children. (Hosea 10:14)**

When we see someone poisoned or stabbed to death in the world, or a mother and child dashed to pieces, we feel how unfair this world is. But this is how it is when disaster strikes because people reap what they sow! My brothers and sisters, do not be indignant. You may say we do not know what happened behind the scenes. If you delve deeper, you will understand that when such things come upon people, God does not make mistakes; they are all sown by people themselves. The destruction of the Israelite mother and child is a tragedy and a disaster, but when these disasters come, they have nothing to say.

**From the days of Gibeah, you have sinned, O Israel; there they have remained. Shall not the battle against the sons of iniquity overtake them in Gibeah? (Hosea 10:9)**

When disaster strikes people, they are powerless to resist. The situations seen before the disaster are very strange. Some people are deceived, yet they firmly believe they will not be deceived. For example, someone was scammed by P2P, and I advised him to quickly withdraw his money; even a dollar is money, but he just would not withdraw it, still wanting to keep it to increase in value. In the end, hundreds of thousands or millions became a few dollars, and even those few dollars were gone. The person scammed still thought he would not be scammed, which is truly foolish. As long as someone owes money, without exception, how did you get into debt? Why are you in debt? Is it not because you love money? Everyone thinks they will not be scammed, believing that disaster will not befall them, only realizing it is too late when it does.

The situation you are in now is how it came to be. No matter how old you are, even if you are 80 years old, you must often reflect on yourself and write down how you became foolish. You do not need to send it to me; I do not want to know. I just want you to know how foolish you once were, so you will not fall into this again when you encounter it in the future. If you are trapped again and again, then you will live miserably! Fortunately, you have met me; perhaps you will experience some grace, but do not think everything will be fine in the future because those who think everything will be fine often have something happen. Do not just think about making money without thinking about losing money. Later, I summarized that foolish people do not think they are foolish; they think they are quite smart, while smart people never think they are smart; they always think they are not smart enough.

**Also the high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed. Thorn and thistle shall grow up on their altars; they shall say to the mountains, “Cover us,” and to the hills, “Fall on us!” (Hosea 10:8)**

Some say to let the mountains fall on them. Is this to be the Monkey King pressed under the Five Finger Mountain? I do not think they have the bodily mass for that; they may not even be pressed into meat patties. The Monkey King was only pressed under the Five Finger Mountain and still lived. One day, when the monk Tang Sanzang passed by on his journey to the West to obtain scriptures, he could still be rescued. What are these Israelites thinking? What would the mountains falling on them do? When they crucified Jesus on the cross, they said that the guilt for shedding his blood should be on them and their descendants. This is when disaster strikes, and they are powerless to turn things around, suffering to the point of madness, so painful that they say to the mountains, Cover us, and to the hills, Fall on us! They have already become this foolish.

How many among us still love the world and toil for money? And how many truly love God and live in the system of God? God once turned around your finances, but where is your heart? Are you as confused as the Israelites?

Some people must be thinking, “It should not be this way, right? It will not be as serious as you say.” They still think they are living well, working three jobs a day to pay off their father's debts. As for God, He can wait. In fact, this is a tragedy! Do you want to be trapped tightly by this world? What are my brothers and sisters thinking? I often feel speechless, and I do not know what to say. People choose to live in the worldly logic system and are very foolish.

Among us, a sister's parents owed a lot of money and used her ID card to apply for many high-interest loans. After she came among us, she finally paid off the high-interest loans, and her parents wanted to apply for high-interest loans again. What will you do when your God is all used up? People not only like to be trapped but are also foolishly unable to listen to anything. Yes, they are your parents, and losing money is not a big problem. Many people have lost money; some have lost tens of thousands, hundreds of millions, and are still fine. Did they trap you just by losing a little money? You paid it off for them this time, but what about next time? What will you do then?

There are also mothers paying off money for their sons, and children paying off money for their mothers, foolishly unaware that it is a pit. A brother's father suddenly decided to buy a car and asked the brother for money. His financial situation was already terrible, and he asked me what to do. I said, If the old man bought a plane, would you also pay for it? You should first improve your finances. When you have the ability in the future, you can cover this pit with a flick of your finger; perhaps it can be arranged this way. If he insists on paying for his father now, owing one debt today and another debt tomorrow, it will be endless. His father knows that his son will pay for him, just like those sons know that their mothers will pay for them, endlessly. So let them do whatever they want; these people who ask for help to pay off debts are clearly tricking people.

When disaster strikes, people know that their logic system is wrong. In fact, how people live is all the same in the end, whether horizontal or vertical. Some die standing, some die lying down, but it is all the same in the end. If people see through these things, there will be no problems. If they do not see through and live in the worldly logic system, they will keep struggling there.

**When I please, I will discipline them, and nations shall be gathered against them when they are bound to their double iniquity. (Hosea 10:10)**

People commit two kinds of sins: Gibeah and the golden calf. The golden calf is the logic system of this life, worshiping idols to seek benefits. Gibeah was a city where everyone committed adultery, raping a Levite's concubine to death, leading to the massacre of the entire city, filled with violence. Let us examine ourselves. Disaster will surely come. Do you want to be trapped? If you do, you will be trapped impenetrably.

## There Is Still a Chance to Return to God Before Disaster Strikes

As long as people have a chance to return to God before disaster strikes, plant righteousness. Plant the righteousness of God and the Kingdom of God, and reap the steadfast love of God. We cannot solve any problems by our own strength; we can only dig a pit for ourselves, becoming our own gravediggers. If we plant righteousness by relying on God, we can reap love from God. So now, seek the Lord God. You must break up your fallow ground, waiting for Him to come, so that He may rain righteousness upon you. The fallow ground is our faith, which has become so desolate that you are pushed to a free-range place where no one cares about you, and your pastor does not care about you. When disaster comes, you can only fend for yourselves. If people have been pushed to that situation and do not know it, they will be powerless to turn things around when disaster comes!

Whether you come to a victorious church or a church with Mingding Destiny, these do not solve your problems. The only thing that can solve your problems is to completely destroy the set of logic inside you. If you do not destroy it, it does not matter; you can keep it and wait for disaster to strike! There is still a chance before disaster strikes, but there will be no chance after disaster strikes.

**Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you. You have plowed iniquity; you have reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your warriors, (Hosea 10:12-13)**

If people want to live by their own hands or swords, then let them. What God curses will surely be cursed. God's words stand firm in heaven; even if the heavens and earth pass away, not one jot or tittle of God's words will pass away. Are you going to walk the path you once walked again? You experienced a very miserable situation in the past, and after coming among us, God has been gracious to you. Now that your situation is slightly better, why are you repeating the old path? When will we be able to dismantle the high places, calves, and idols we worship inside? If you do not dismantle them, you will surely offer your golden calf to your King Jareb, who is the foreigner who attacks and plunders you, and will ultimately perish together with the king of Israel because this is the work of God.

《何西阿书》 (The Book of Hosea) shouts to the heavens and earth here, but the Israelites who heard it still sneer, thinking it is good and wondering if it is really that serious. Now, I also shout to the heavens and earth to remind everyone, but seeing everyone's response is similar. Many people mutter in their hearts, If I do not do this, what should I do? The money I owe, will the pastor help me pay it back? Why do people walk into such a tragic situation? The reason is that they forsake God, and in their bones, they still have those worldly things. From what point do people know to repent and no longer walk the old path? If a person does not have a glorious hope in the eternal heavens, then there is no way to walk this path. If people do not want to walk the path of eternal life, then worldly things will surely entangle you and bind you, and people will surely experience these sufferings.

Before I end, I will share a small story with everyone. The other day, I met a person who had four siblings. She is the eldest and married in Singapore, and she and her husband have a business that is doing quite well. Her cousin is a prominent figure in Argentina, and her sister married in Argentina and went to him. Who knew that their cousin, who was only in his early fifties, was shot to death two years ago? After his death, his finances suddenly fell into crisis, and he owed a lot of money. Her sister has been in trouble ever since. I asked her if she could come back. She said she did not know what she could do if she came back. Life is truly unpredictable. When they went, they had good hopes, but in the blink of an eye, twenty years have passed, and they are in a dilemma. Retreating brings shame to their ancestors, and staying brings insurmountable debt. Many things are typical examples of the worldly system not working; it is truly the so-called leaning on the mountain, the mountain collapses; leaning on the tree, the tree falls.

I can only say that these tragedies prove that we have no good choice but to love God well. Such a big person does not know about owing money? Surely they know. If they owe it, they cannot pay it themselves and still expect others to pay it back. If they lack food and drink, we can help a little, but paying off debts is out of the question. Some people gamble and take drugs; we cannot help these people pay off gambling debts or drug debts, nor can we help people who do business share the risks. People do not live well and choose to do those things. The probability of us being trapped by this world is too great. If you are lacking food and drink, you can help them, but paying off debts is out of the question because you will help them pay it off, and they will continue to owe it. What should you do then? Perhaps everyone will feel that I am being inhumane, but that is reality.
