【Bible Study】Isaiah 15-16 - The Judgement of Moab!

2016-08-19 27,915 Isaiah

The Misery of the Moabites

This chapter describes a state of sorrow; wailing and weeping are deeply saddening. When you see someone in misery, you should have compassion, but you must understand who brought them to this state—it is the God who controls all things in the universe. God brings these miserable people among us so that we can show them compassion, but we must be especially careful. What should the church do? When encountering someone in a miserable state, you must bring them out of that state and into God's blessings.

Our church's work is to release people from curses, a profoundly challenging task. Recently, a group of people left the church, causing many to stumble. When he first joined the church group, and brothers and sisters pointed out that irrelevant information should not be posted, he protested and expressed dissatisfaction. I was in Taipei when I saw this situation, and I said I would shepherd this person; I truly wanted to turn his situation around, but I was unsuccessful. I spent half a year leading him in career planning, charting his future path, yet he was over thirty and had achieved nothing.

I repeatedly warned him not to discern good and evil, to change his habit of sticking his nose into everything, but he did not correct his bad habits. He simply did not understand the decisions and management of the church. I showed compassion even to someone I had never met, who had no internet at home but communicated only by phone, and who had a serious case of cancer, arranging for people to lead him in prayer for an average of three hours a day. So, is there any need to doubt my motives for serving? What would I gain from him? His home was practically a slum, utterly miserable. What could he possibly offer me? Nothing at all. So why did I serve him so diligently? Because it is my Mingding Destiny.

Similarly, when someone like him came among us, I served him. I did not allow his cell group leader to serve him; if I couldn't handle him, how could they? Later, another person tried to swindle eight thousand yuan from us under the pretext of needing rent, and we spent a great deal of time serving him. XY sister testified to me privately, and I was about to have the brothers and sisters contribute some money to send to him, but a feeling inside me told me to wait. In the end, I did not give him the money. Do you know why? Because when I saw old photos of the church being established, I remembered that back then I served according to my flesh, relying on my authority and my money to help these people, but it was ultimately useless.

Later, a brother in our church taught him, hoping he could escape from the curse, but that person said, Don't just talk; give me some money, as if I owed it to him. There are many who like to meddle, but we really don't need them here. Later, throughout the entire service, I still tried to turn these people around, but the situation did not improve; they became increasingly discerning of good and evil, developed negative feelings towards our leaders, and then left the church. I want to tell everyone a concept: when you see someone living under a curse, know that helping them is an extremely difficult task.

Blessings and Curses Come from God

When living under a curse, if the thoughts and intentions inside are not changed, the external circumstances cannot be changed either. If any of our brothers and sisters feel that I am not doing enough, you can come and talk to me, and I can tell you what I am doing. In fact, I have invested a great deal of time for these people. On the contrary, I rarely serve those co-workers who serve with me and build the glorious church together; this is a personal regret in my heart.

You must know that our God is a God who judges people. Curses come from God, and blessings also come from God. Whether to be cursed or blessed depends on your choices and my choices. That is, a person enters into a curse because of his own choice; the Moabites entered into a curse because of their own choice. Curses and blessings are things we must understand; without understanding, we live in ignorance.

In my Sunday sermon, I spoke of My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Whether you are God's people or not, you will also be destroyed for your ignorance. To be born into a cursed family and accumulate God's wrath will surely lead to judgment. God is the God of heaven, and God is also the God of earth. God reigns in the kingdoms of the earth, and God will surely judge everyone, no matter who you are. If you happen to be walking the path of the Moabites, you will be reduced to nothing and enter into a curse.

Lot, Without a Mingding Destiny

Where did the Moabites come from? They originated from Lot and his daughters, descendants of incest. If you read Genesis chapter 19, you will read that when God personally visited Sodom, He brought his family out of Sodom. God saved them, not because of Lot, but for Abraham's sake. The original text of the Bible says, Because God remembered Abraham, as he was Abraham's nephew, He rescued him. As a result, Lot's wife disobeyed and looked back, turning into a pillar of salt. After they fled to the mountains, Lot's daughters said, I can't find a man either, so she got her father drunk and slept with him, and the child she conceived was the Moabite. That's where the Moabites came from.

What kind of person was Lot? He was a person without Mingding Destiny. In fact, the people of Sodom did not respect Lot very much; some of them said, Who are you, this foreigner? But Abraham was a man with Mingding Destiny, and everyone honored him. A person with Mingding Destiny, his descendants will be blessed; a person without Mingding Destiny, his descendants will naturally be cursed. Today, there are two who have lost their tribes: one is Jacob's brother Esau, and the other is Moab. Moab is related to Abraham. But God's judgment on the Moabites was because of a Lot who lost his Mingding Destiny. I keep talking to everyone about Mingding Destiny, because in the past month, whether I was walking or studying the Bible, the word Mingding Destiny kept ringing in my ears.

Without Mingding Destiny is a Curse

Without Mingding Destiny is a curse. When Lot lived in Sodom, he was captured by four kings and almost became a slave. If it weren't for his uncle Abraham being so powerful, rescuing him and killing those four kings, he still wouldn't have realized, My uncle saved me, my uncle is more powerful, I have to follow my uncle! But he continued to return to the city of Sodom. What did Abraham inherit? It was to become a blessing to all nations and peoples. What did Lot inherit? It was to make money and acquire property, but when Sodom was overthrown, his property was also gone. So we need to understand the origin of the Moabites, they were born from a curse and did not know to repent, and continued to live in the curse.

The king of Moab wanted to curse Israel, so he invited a prophet named Balaam to curse the Israelites. The words in the Bible must be carefully listened to: Those who curse Abraham will be cursed; those who curse Israel will be cursed. Those who curse someone like Abraham, like Israel will also be cursed. I think the Moabites suffered the judgment of extermination actually came from this. They were originally born from a curse, the Lot who lost his Mingding Destiny gave birth to the Moabite tribe, and this Moabite tribe was still somewhat alright, God gave them a land, hoping they would do something right. As a result, when Israel came out of Egypt and wanted to pass through Moab, the king of Moab invited the prophet Balaam to curse Israel. We know that cursing Israel will surely be cursed. Don't mess with anyone with Mingding Destiny; you can't afford to.

Copying Abraham into Life

I do not care about life and death; in fact, I wish I had died yesterday. But I am still alive today because God has had mercy on me and allowed me to live. I have only one purpose: to build God's glorious church. I really want to copy Abraham's entire life into my own life, and to copy Jacob and Joseph into my life as well. I encourage brothers and sisters to also copy Abraham into your lives, and to copy Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph into your lives. Do you know the result? Curses are useless. I allow you to curse me; I am not afraid. You cannot curse Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob, and those who curse them will perish.

Yesterday, I received a text message saying, Pastor, I heard that you are cursing me behind my back again. Actually, I am not very interested in cursing you. They care so much about my cursing them. Why can't you be someone who does not suffer curses? What you fear, you will receive. If you are not afraid of being cursed, there is only one path: to obtain Mingding Destiny. Do not walk the path of the Moabites, nor the path of Lot, but walk the path of Abraham. Those who curse you will be cursed, how wonderful! I like being Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Israelites cannot be cursed. If you curse them you will be cursed. The Moabites were destroyed as a nation because they cursed Israel. Their entire people completely disappeared from the earth.

The path we walk determines whether we are blessed or cursed. The Moabites were destroyed because they cursed Israel. God, through Isaiah, proclaimed judgment on the Moabites. The judgment on the Moabites is not for a day, or a year, or ten years, but for the length of all human history. Looking at a thousand years as a day, and a day as a thousand years. That is why I hope to see some results in my lifetime, now that I am in my fifties, to see who is truly blessed.

Overnight, Kir of Moab is laid waste and brought to nothing. The Moabites weep, their tears flow, they wail, the grass withers, and lions come upon the escaping Moabites. Know that disasters often befall those who are cursed. One disaster in a lifetime is enough, and is not the arrival of disaster a concrete manifestation of a curse? If someone gets out of a car and is killed by a tiger, I think that is a kind of curse. Why die that way? Why be killed by a tiger?

The Blessed Do Not Encounter Calamity

There was a person who was afraid of flying since birth, so he made a decision: if I fly, I will go with the pastor, because I know that if I am with him, the plane will not crash. This illustrates one thing: a blessed person generally does not encounter calamity. He will encounter difficulties, but God will surely make him victorious.

Send lambs to the ruler of the land, from Sela through the wilderness, to the mount of Zion. You should do these things, not those things. You are cursed. If you are smart, use the precious blood of the lamb to cover your transgressions and be released from the curse. But they do not choose that way, so they will be like fluttering birds, like scattered nestlings. How painful! Never think that living under a curse will be comfortable; it is not comfortable at all. I do not care much about those who are cursed. I am generally studying what it means to be blessed.

God executes judgment in David's tent, seeking justice. He will surely judge people, whether you are a believer or not. You ask me how I know He will judge. I read the Bible and that is how I know. The Moabites being judged is an example of God's judgment, isn't it? No need to study history, because the Moabites have already disappeared from the earth. But I am pondering one thing: the peoples that have disappeared from the earth are cursed, but the most populous people on earth are the Chinese. Isn't this the Mingding Destiny of us Chinese? We Chinese have a glorious Mingding Destiny from God, a nation that bears God's Mingding Destiny. The demise of a nation and the prosperity of a nation are related to curses and blessings. The decline of a family is related to curses. Curses and blessings are both God's judgment.

Keep and obey God's way, and God will bless you. If you do not obey God's word, you will be cursed. God is a God of judgment. The Moabites also had good times. We often see that some people living under curses also have good times. But the Moabites were exceedingly proud, and arrogant, angry, and spoke boastful words. If you see someone wailing, he must have been an arrogant person in the past. You can have compassion on him, but you must know that you need to bring him out of the curse.

God's Conceptions

Once, a person came to the church, and he had a spirit of death on him. After I drove away the spirit of death from him, he also left. He told me a tragic story. After listening to it, I kept thinking about curses and blessings and forgot to have compassion on him. His family worshiped idols and had an idol hall. After his mother worshiped idols there, she went to take a shower, and after the shower, she died. His aunt, who was the leader of the hall, saw that his mother had not come out so she pushed the door open and saw that his mother was dead. After his mother died, she picked up a kitchen knife and cut open her aunt's stomach. Her aunt did not die, but his mother died. Later, his aunt was sent to the hospital to be stitched up and she lived. From then on, the child's father earned money as if it were swept in by a gale.

He came to our church several times. The first few times he came, his family was very prosperous. The last time he came, his family had already declined and was also involved in lawsuits, and he needed to send money back to support his father. When people have money, they are very arrogant, but they cannot control when they are born or when they die, and they do not know what will happen to them in their lives. What are you arrogant about? Money is like ghost money in the spiritual realm, your money is almost like ghost money floating on the ground.

Let us not wait until we are extremely sad and wailing before we think of God. Do you know what will happen when you get to that point? When you come to God's temple to appear before Him and pray in His sanctuary, you will not be heard. We must seek Him while He may be found. If the curse is very deep, you are basically unable to escape the devil's hook. It is truly sad. In any case, I urge everyone not to bite the devil's hook and not to enter into curses. If your conceptions are human conceptions, you will surely be cursed. If your conceptions are the conceptions of the Bible, God will surely bless you.

Fear God, Do Not Be Arrogant

Do not think that human conceptions will not be cursed. The Moabites had human conceptions. When Abraham and Lot were choosing that land, Lot looked with human eyes, and Abraham looked with God's eyes. Lot looked with carnal eyes, and Abraham looked with spiritual eyes. As a result, when Lot was bankrupt, Abraham was extremely prosperous. Today, BY gave us a testimony, and one sentence touched me deeply. He said, This is my Mingding Destiny. Those who have Mingding Destiny are blessed, and the result of those who do not have Mingding Destiny living is living under a curse. If any of you brothers and sisters are afraid that I will curse you, I encourage you to be Abraham.

If you are afraid of curses, then be Jacob. Whoever curses you will be destroyed as a nation, like the Moabites. Let us not be arrogant. Know that you are a person, know that our lives are not long, know that one day, we will walk the path that all people must walk, know that after walking these decades of life, God will judge us. Therefore, we must fear God well in this world. If you look with worldly eyes, it may make sense, but it is the path to being cursed.

Therefore I will bewail with weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.(Isaiah 16:9)
And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their vintage shouting to cease.(Isaiah 16:10)
Wherefore my bowels shall sound like an harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirharesh.(Isaiah 16:11)

Do not think it is a small matter. Today we are living well, tomorrow we do not know what will happen. According to the words of Ecclesiastes, because we do not know the things of the future, we must fear God. Do not talk about things you do not know, do not like to take up cudgels for others, because you actually know very little. When the Moabites appeared before the Lord, being weary on the high place, and came to his sanctuary to pray, they were not accepted.

When a person loses his Mingding Destiny, when a person curses Israel, thinking that his prayers will be answered, that is impossible. There is no such thing, because these people only have God's judgment waiting for them. I have said a lot of cursing words again, I am really sorry. Actually, I am not cursing people, I am just reading Isaiah chapters 15 and 16, that is all.

Have you come out of the curse? Have you become the Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob of this generation? These people are not cursed, because God has defined that He is with them. God is the God who controls curses and blessings. If you can understand God's words, then never walk the path of the Moabites. We Chinese took in a large number of Jews during World War II, so we Chinese in this generation are really beginning to see God's will for us, to take on the Mingding Destiny God has given us!
