Theme: The Gospel of the Holy Spirit's Fullness
Brothers and sisters, greetings. Today, we continue from our previous lecture. The original title of the second lecture was The Victorious Church. Yesterday, two types of questions were raised. The first type was: How can I attain deliverance? Why do many anointed and famous pastors die of cancer? My answer was not so polite, but if you think about it, many problems are closely related to the victorious church. Why did I change the title? What did I change it to? The second type of question concerned being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues. The first type of question addresses the issues of the church, and the second type addresses our personal issues. I think these are two closely related issues. A group of the old, weak, and disabled cannot become a victorious army. It must be a group of mighty warriors who come together to form a mighty army. Therefore, a victorious church and victorious individuals are interconnected.
Today, I want to talk to you about the Gospel of the Holy Spirit's fullness. For a long time, we did not talk about these things, feeling they were taken for granted. However, many Christians are still confused about being filled with the Holy Spirit. Yesterday, someone left the group, saying they loved listening to my sermons. But when our pastors wanted to lead in being filled with the Holy Spirit, they left. This person is like the woman with the issue of blood, preferring to go to heaven with the issue of blood rather than being healed and going to heaven. How confused is that? So today, I still want to dispel the myths about being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues.
I believe that if this is a simple topic for some of you, then learn how to teach it. But if you are new and full of fear about being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues, my goal today is to address that fear. They keep saying, God reigns, God upholds the universe with His almighty hand, but when it comes to speaking in tongues, they say, What if an evil spirit comes? Actually, the Bible does not say, Ask for the Holy Spirit, receive an evil spirit. If you find it in the Bible, tell me. What deceives them and makes them afraid? It is the evil spirit within them that deceives them and makes them afraid. So today, I once again share the Gospel of the Holy Spirit's fullness. This is absolutely in accordance with the Bible. You can rest assured that if what I say has no biblical basis, you don't have to listen; I don't force anyone. But you must know that I value the Bible very, very much.
The logical system of the Chinese Mingding Doctrine, which I founded, greatly values the Bible. No matter who says it, if it is not in the Bible, then forget it. Why are many brothers and sisters among us healed and blessed today? Because we diligently keep and follow God's word. So, brothers and sisters, do not be afraid or worry. After listening to what I say, you can carefully compare it with the Bible and continue to take notes. Some older brothers and sisters are very lovely, sending messages to our assistants saying, I am paralyzed in bed and cannot take notes. I say it's okay if you can't take notes, but you still need to organize your thoughts in your mind because you can still listen to the Bible and Bible studies.
The Bible says that we do not rely on chariots or horses, but solely on the Spirit of the Lord God to accomplish things. Examine it carefully. Today, relying on the Spirit of God is so important. If the powerful Gospel of Jesus Christ, with great hope through the Holy Spirit, is believed as a powerless gospel, that is the greatest tragedy in the world. We have believed the powerful Gospel as a powerless gospel. When it comes to being filled with the Holy Spirit, we act as if we are orthodox and then run away. Run from what? I don't have hair on my face or horns on my head; I'm not the Bull Demon King or Princess Iron Fan. What are you afraid of? Some people ask why I talk about the Monkey King. The Monkey King, seeing a monkey die, understood in his heart that he should pursue eternal life. We are not even as good as a monkey!
So, let's start examining the Bible step by step. Today, you may be a little disappointed; there will be fewer stories and more Bible. We must be clear about what the Bible says, so the devil cannot deceive you. A person who understands the Bible and reads it according to God's word and God's will is hard to be deceived by demons. Now you know that today I am talking about the Gospel of the Holy Spirit's fullness.
Genesis Begins with the Gospel of the Holy Spirit Moving
The first chapter of Genesis begins with the Spirit of God moving upon the face of the waters. Sometimes we are surprised when a prayer heals a sickness! What is this? Many people think this person has great anointing, this person has spiritual gifts. Actually, this is nonsense. It is actually the Spirit of God moving there. When a person opens their mouth and declares, God accomplishes it. You must know this. Without the Spirit of God moving, what do you declare? Without the Spirit of God moving, no one's declaration is useful. Why does Genesis chapter one tell us this? When we read chapter one, we see that people are made in the image of God. Why does God tell us about creating the universe? When creating the heavens and the earth, the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. The English has a phrase: for your information. What is God telling me this for? You tell me, and I can't go back to that place to investigate. Apart from believing, nothing can be investigated.
In the beginning, I would kneel there and pray for several hours every day because when I led everyone to study Genesis, I could not study it; I would be confused after reading the first chapter. Some people are also confused after reading it, but they think they are not confused, so I think they are amazing. I read Genesis chapter one: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. (Genesis 1:1-3). I said, God, you said in Matthew 7:24 that if you read God's word, you should do it, but I can't do the first sentence after reading it, which is very depressing. How can I do it? But not many people ask questions like me. Many people read God's word and don't care how to do it; they just read it and finish reading it.
I said that if God only wanted me to know, then He didn't need to let me know. If He wants me to do it, how should I do it? I can't go back to the time when the earth was without form and void, I can't fix it, which is very tangled. The feeling of entanglement is the same as the feeling of the Monkey King seeing a monkey die. I knelt on the ground and prayed, and God's word came to me. If a person is thirsty and wants to seek, they will surely find; those who seek will surely find; and the door will surely be opened to those who knock. As a result, God put this word in me, and I heard it like thunder, which was really mind-blowing! Want to know what I heard? I studied Genesis very well, no one studied it better than me, I hope you all surpass me, I don't want to be stuck there.
God said, You are made in my image, and you do as I do. I said, What should I do? God said, People often encounter emptiness, void, and darkness over the deep. Yes, I despaired when I saw these people, I despaired to death. Then God said, What should I do? Let my Spirit move there, you open your mouth and declare, and things will be accomplished. As soon as God declared, a person with glazed eyes came. Why did he have glazed eyes? Because he was getting married the next day, and his wife ran away the day before. Why? Because she was a liar and took his money, which was terrible. He talked to another girlfriend who asked him how much money he made a month and how much money he could save. This person couldn't save a penny. The girlfriend was found online, and she turned around and left. When she left, his eyes went straight, so he came to me. If it were normal, he would have put me next to him as useless trash and would not bother to pay attention to me.
I see that his eyes are glazed and he is about to die, so I have to save him! At this time, I remembered Genesis chapter one. Isn't this darkness over the deep? This is darkness over the deep! Then I said, come, I will lead you to be filled with the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues, and then I declare, and many wonderful things happen. I saw his eyes slowly focusing and lighting up. After a while, he loosened up, and after a while, he could speak. I said, God, you are really amazing. Although no one can do Genesis chapter one like this, you enlighten me, and I can do it! So from then on, I preached the Gospel of the Holy Spirit's fullness, letting the Spirit of God move there. It is good to be filled with the Spirit of God! Brothers and sisters, do you want to become smarter? If you want to become smarter, let the Spirit of God move there, and then I say, In the name of Jesus Christ, so and so brother and sister become smarter! Wow, that's really amazing.
In my serving experience in the past few years, I am most grateful for being filled with the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, what do we do? We might as well read Buddhist scriptures or Tao Te Ching. You can't verify all the scriptures, and you can't rely on interpreting scriptures with scriptures. After interpreting them, they are just that, but what can you do after interpreting them? Nothing much. Only being filled with the Holy Spirit is the most important thing; of course, praying with understanding is also very important.
Genesis chapter one says that things are done like this, things are done like this. How are things done? Things are done because the Spirit of God moves and the Spirit of God opens His mouth and declares, and things are accomplished. Now the Spirit of God is moving, we open our mouths and declare, and things will be accomplished in the same way! Wow, this is amazing! This is a life full of excitement.
I don't have many hobbies. Eating and drinking are nothing special. Someone opens a bottle of Moutai, and after I drink it, I wonder what it is. It's spicy and makes my mouth uncomfortable. It's better to open a bottle of Coke, which is cheaper. Eating is nothing special, drinking is nothing special, playing is nothing special. People play mahjong, grabbing one and throwing one away, and just play there. What's the point? It's nothing special. I can play mahjong, but I just don't think it's anything special. Anyway, living feels really depressing. Fortunately, I met God later. As soon as I knew God, I got the best game: casting out demons. Relying on the Spirit of God to cast out demons and letting the kingdom of God come is simply wonderful, and things are thus accomplished.
So, brothers and sisters, what does Genesis chapter one say? It says that the Holy Spirit moves there, and then you open your mouth and declare, and things are thus accomplished. There is a Samuel in the Bible. Samuel is one of the two greatest prophets in the Old Testament, along with Moses. Samuel said, God caused none of his words to fall to the ground. Oh, how I long for this! I said in my heart, God, I also want to be like this! As a result, I became more and more like this. It is good to open your mouth and declare, and God will accomplish it in this way. So, if you want to live prosperously, you must be a person filled with the Holy Spirit. If you want to be a creative person, you must be a person filled with the Holy Spirit. Being filled with the Holy Spirit will definitely lead to creativity. Start thirsting to be filled with the Holy Spirit, which is a very good thing.
Brothers and sisters, building a victorious church relies on the Spirit of God, and being a victorious disciple relies on the Spirit of God. This Gospel is the Gospel of the Holy Spirit's fullness. Dealing with the lustful spirit in people depends on the Holy Spirit. What can you do without the Holy Spirit? You can't do anything. You can't do anything relying on the flesh. Therefore, Paul preached the powerful Gospel in all his epistles, so we have great hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Paul's words and preaching did not rely on wise and persuasive words, but on the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit. It sounds very good, and I do the same today, and things are thus accomplished.
Do you want to accomplish everything you do? If so, I will give you a trick: pray in the Holy Spirit for a long time. Actually, this is very good. In the early days when I established the church, I had no money, no people, and no job, only one thought: to establish a church. At that time, I had time! Some people don't know that having time is a grace, and as a result, I used all this time to read the Bible and pray, praying in tongues extensively. Paul said, I speak in tongues more than all of you. No one speaks in tongues more than Paul. I said that's easy, so I prayed in tongues for one hour, two hours, five hours. I think this is very easy. But for some people, this is very difficult. They feel that they have prayed for a long time, but when they open their eyes, only 5 minutes have passed. Prayer is really too difficult for them. Some people pray for only ten minutes a day, which is praying during meals. What is this doing? They are full of problems.
So, brothers and sisters, you must know that this is the Gospel of the Holy Spirit's fullness. Some people say that Genesis is the Old Testament. Do you believe the New Testament? I will still sort it out clearly for you.
The New Testament Also Speaks of the Spirit of God Moving
The Bible does not say that this is the New Testament, and that is the Old Testament. The Bible is not divided like that. The Old Testament and the New Testament are one whole. When Luke wrote the Gospel of Luke, there was no New Testament. They were all Old Testament scriptures. How do you read and believe them? This does not matter, because the God of the Old Testament and the God of the New Testament are the same God. Genesis speaks of the Spirit moving there, and the New Testament also speaks of the Spirit of God moving there. Not only is the Holy Spirit there, but the Holy Spirit will also fill us. In the past few years, I have studied the four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, John, and Luke. These four Gospels have been studied very well, and the best one is Luke. Luke is my favourite . Why was it only finished last week? Last Wednesday, we summarized the Gospel of Luke clearly and cleanly.
Regarding the theme of the Gospel of Luke, I am currently compiling a book, and everyone can help me with a little promotion, which is like 带货 again. I have been struggling with the title of this book for more than two weeks, and the title is: Many will fall, many will rise. Those who fall deserve it, and those who rise, we thank God. Fall because of what? There are so many who fall! Who told you not to read the Gospel of Luke properly? There are many who fall on the road of being filled with the Holy Spirit because they don't read the Bible, so they don't know! Knowing nothing but leaving the group, what can I do to you after you listen to the prayer of being filled with the Holy Spirit? I can't do anything to you! Can I break through the screen and do anything to you? I don't have that ability! What are you afraid of? Remember, the fearful and timid will be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone.
Therefore, many will fall, many will rise. Are you going to be one who falls or one who rises? From today onwards, we will be victorious Christians who rise up and shine. The Gospels of Matthew and Mark are both very famous. Matthew: Two kingdoms, two pursuits; Mark: Signs and wonders will accompany those who believe; John: The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. Actually, the Gospel of John is also filled with the Holy Spirit, but today I mainly talk about the Gospel of Luke. Luke 1:15:
for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. (Luke 1:15)
Being filled with the Holy Spirit started with John the Baptist. Some people ask me, Was John the Baptist filled with the Holy Spirit? Did John the Baptist have tongues? Alas, what are you talking about? You didn't read the Bible properly. John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit in his mother's womb! Look, in Luke 1:35:
The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. (Luke 1:41)
This is all talking about the Holy Spirit. Did you think the Holy Spirit only exists today? It started in Genesis 1. God breathed into Adam's nostrils, and he became a living being. Brothers and sisters, please do not think that being filled with the Holy Spirit is Pentecostal. If the gospel is not filled with the Holy Spirit, it is not the gospel at all. Brothers and sisters who come to seek healing today, I tell you, a powerless gospel is not the gospel preached by the Apostle Paul. If you say that it is also a church, I can only say: I don’t know!
John the Baptist's mother was filled with the Holy Spirit, and in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus' mother was also filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke 4:1 says Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit. In John 3:34, it says that Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit without limit. Therefore, brothers and sisters, do not be fooled by others. The gospel we believe today is the gospel that imitates Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ's ministry began with being filled with the Holy Spirit, starting with baptism and then being filled with the Holy Spirit, clear? If the Holy Spirit is not spoken of today, how can this gospel continue?
Many people like to ask me a lot of strange questions, wanting to see how I react. Actually, I have to tell you that many people are called Zhang Jesus, and there are also many people called Li Jesus, Ma Jesus. Is anyone named Jesus, Jesus? There is also someone in the Bible named Bar-Jesus, who is a false Jesus. Many people like to argue with me, so I ask them one sentence: Are you like Jesus? They were all choked up, no. Then what are you talking to me about?
I used to study theology because I was very pursuing and eager to know the truth of God, but I was very confused when I was in seminary. Once I was puzzled by something, so I ran to ask the seminary professor, How would Jesus see this matter? His answer surprised me a little. He said, I am not Jesus, how do I know? I said, If you don't know, then what can I learn from you? So, I didn't go the next day. The tuition was wasted. I never wanted to listen to theology that didn't know what God said, didn't know what God thought, and didn't know what God saw. I don't have the time and interest. This is not Jesus, this is pineapple cake. I want the truth of Jesus Christ, but you use pineapple cake to send me away?
This gospel is a gospel filled with the Holy Spirit, a gospel of power
Is the gospel that Jesus Christ preached today a gospel filled with the Holy Spirit? Let's see:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; (Acts 1:8)
We have to be like Jesus. When some people pray for others, the other person's eyes were fine, but later they went blind; some people are better off not praying for the sick, but when they pray, the sick person dies. I have seen similar situations. A pastor told me that he hated praying for the sick. It was better not to pray. Once he prayed, the other person died. I wondered how this pastor became like this. A powerful gospel has been believed into a powerless gospel. Often many people tell me about Song Shangjie, bleeding from hemorrhoids on the podium, and later died. I asked, Do you believe in Jesus or Song Shangjie? Start knowing, don't get me wrong, can a hundred of this person or that person or a hundred Teacher Lius deny the power of Jesus Christ? Can you and I make up our minds to imitate Jesus today? Today I am talking about Genesis, the Gospels, not anything else. Jesus very clearly said:
And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high. (Luke 24:49)
Where does this power come from? This power comes from the Holy Spirit! Pat your chest and ask yourself, without being filled with the Holy Spirit, what are we believing in? Is it possessing all the truth? Accusing me of being Pentecostal as soon as I come up, what is Pentecostal, can you explain it clearly? Have you done research? Which denomination is Jesus? Why not also divide Jesus and the Apostle Paul into denominations? What denomination is Jesus assigned to? People perish for lack of knowledge, do we want to believe in the powerful gospel of being filled with the Holy Spirit? A powerful gospel is believed into a powerless gospel, please ask: if you are cursed when you are alive, where can you go after you die? Going to heaven or hell, this matter does not depend on one's own practice, but on the Spirit of God constantly reigning in us.
If everyone finds my words harsh, you can pick on me, I can handle it. I know the Bible very well. If you know the Bible as well as I do, you will come to the same conclusion as me. Of course, the Bible does not have the phrase 傻了吧唧, but the Bible has a sentence that is even harsher than what I said. The Pharisees insisted on keeping the circumcision. Paul said that if you want to keep the circumcision, you might as well castrate yourself!
The Gospel is the beginning of the New Testament, and Genesis is the beginning of the Old Testament, and also the beginning of the entire Bible. I will tell you about the Acts of the Apostles. Is there a lot of information today? It doesn't matter, I can slow down.
Acts of the Apostles was written by Luke. Let's see:
So when they met together, they asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:6-8)
The last words Jesus said before he ascended to heaven are very important. If the Holy Spirit does not come upon you, according to my words, you should just stay there. Stay in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes, how can you witness for God without the power of the Holy Spirit? Deny the Lord three times? The disciples took it seriously. One hundred and twenty people prayed day and night in the Upper Room, crying out to God for the Holy Spirit to come and be filled, and only did this one thing. But nothing happened. Day after day passed, and these people were there, saying Fill me with the Holy Spirit with all their might. They were really characterized by carefully keeping and following the word of God. Nowadays, once people pray Fill me with the Holy Spirit and find that there is no Holy Spirit, they clamor that There is no Holy Spirit, it's not real. These one hundred and twenty people prayed for about ten days. How did I calculate it? Jesus resurrected on the third day after Passover, stayed on earth for forty days, and spoke to the disciples about the kingdom of God. After ascending to heaven, it was Pentecost. This is the second chapter of Acts of the Apostles. Pentecost is fifty days away from Passover, which means that the disciples prayed for about eight or nine days, about ten days.
After praying, suddenly the Holy Spirit came and filled the people in the house, and they fell on everyone's heads. They were all filled, and then began to speak in other languages. Unfortunately, the Bible does not say how they began to speak in other languages. The Holy Spirit came on Pentecost, and they all began to pray in tongues. Sometimes when I listen to my own prayer in tongues, I wonder if this prayer is the local language of an aborigine in Africa or the Amazon River. One day I accidentally clicked on YouTube, and I didn't know what video, but when I heard that person speak, I was shocked. The voice of that person was almost exactly the same as my prayer in tongues. I will imitate it for everyone, and everyone will definitely know what I am talking about? This is a North Korean broadcaster, reporting news. If it is a Chinese broadcast: This is the Voice of America, broadcasting to the mainland. You can tell what is being said as soon as you hear it. Even if it is a Chinese broadcaster or a Taiwanese broadcaster, you can tell that there is a great degree of difference in the sound.
Being Filled with the Holy Spirit and Praying in Tongues is an Indispensable Step in Believing in the Lord
God has made it very clear about praying in tongues:
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. (Acts 2:17-19)
What is this, this is the Spirit of God. Many churches have lost the Spirit of God and then began to play with culture, but elementary schools in the world are ineffective in dealing with carnal desires, so in the Acts of the Apostles, a very important thing is said.
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of the Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:38-39)
Accordingly, believing in Jesus can be divided into four steps: First, repentance; second, baptism in the name of Jesus; third, forgiveness of sins; fourth, receiving the promised Holy Spirit.
Among them, most people stop at the second step, and many people stop at the third step, but when they reach the fourth step, people are directly gone. However, this fourth step is closely related to the ability of Christians. If this part is gone, it is very troublesome, because the gospel of Jesus Christ becomes a semi-finished product. No matter what we do, we cannot use it if we do 75%. For example, if the renovation is 75% done, and the toilet is not installed, can the house be used? Or if the entire house is renovated to 75%, it is not much different from a bare house and cannot be used. If the airplane is 75% done, who dares to sit in it? The fourth point is well said and is a very hardcore truth, because if the hardcore is missing, the belief becomes soft.
In Acts 8:
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 8:14-16)
Is that sentence clear even to primary school children? Many today are speaking nonsense: Ah, you have been baptized in the name of Jesus, and God has promised the Holy Spirit; you have already received it. Where does that come from? The Samaritans were baptized, and then they still needed to be called upon to receive the Holy Spirit. Brothers and sisters, you must know that this is clearly recorded in the Bible, and I am not just making it up. The Apostle Peter deeply knew the struggle of not being filled with the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it was very difficult for him to deny the Lord three times. Jesus was nearby when someone asked, Are you with Jesus? Peter said, I am not. Then Jesus looked at him, which was quite agonizing. Then someone else came along, poking at a sore spot: Have you been with Jesus? Peter continued to say, I am not. Then another person: Have you been with Jesus? Peter: I swear I am not. At that moment, Jesus looked at him, and immediately the rooster crowed. I ask everyone, did Peter really want to say that? Actually not. He could not control his weakness because he lacked hardcore strength, that is, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Do not be fooled into thinking that you receive the Holy Spirit when you are baptized, because this is not in accordance with the Bible. Peter preached about being filled with the Holy Spirit everywhere. Later, Paul also believed in the Lord and did the same:
> While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” (Acts 19:1-2)
>
> And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. (Acts 19:6)
Brothers and sisters can see what Paul did: Paul was baptized, but that was not the end of it. He still had to lay hands on them and pray for them to receive the Holy Spirit. In this view, receiving the Holy Spirit is another indispensable step in believing in the Lord. For example, if we are cooking a dish and one step is missing, even if the meat and vegetables are all washed, it is just short of stir-frying it in the pan. Can this dish be eaten? Eating it will cause diarrhea.
We must understand what Paul and Peter did, but why do some churches not mention what they did? We all read the same Bible, so why can't we read this truth? I am also surprised that this is clearly written in the Bible. Many people do not say what is said in the Bible, but instead, they talk nonsense themselves.
Brothers and sisters, you must know that Chinese Mingding Doctrine is a system, a complete system of faith. How complete is it? It can allow people to live out the power of God, the power of Jesus Christ, so that people can be like Jesus and lay hands on people to pray for healing and deliverance. Today, we are not interpreting scripture with scripture, but we must truly live out the word of God, and the measure of this is to see the results of what we live out. If you make braised pork and what you serve is sweet and sour pork, with no meat, is that still braised pork? You believe in Jesus, but after believing, you look like you are full of demons, with no resemblance to Jesus at all, and then you still think you are orthodox. Isn't that a tragedy? I find this situation speechless.
Therefore, you must know that the gospel we believe in is a gospel filled with the Holy Spirit. Are you convinced now? From today onwards, choose to restore the pure faith, just as Paul said, this faith was originally powerful. Now, the powerful has become heresy, and the powerless has become orthodox. Isn't this turning black and white upside down? Isn't this the thief crying Stop thief!?
## Correct Understanding of 1 Corinthians Chapter 14
This is the passage most often used to oppose praying in tongues. These people just do not like to understand the Bible. Today, I will summarize it for you from the beginning. 1 Corinthians 14 records:
> Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. (1 Corinthians 14:1)
What does this mean? It means pursuing love and earnestly desiring spiritual gifts. How can we serve without spiritual gifts? Where do those gifts come from? They come from the Holy Spirit.
> For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. (1 Corinthians 14:2)
The meaning of this is: tongues are spoken to God. I ask everyone, is speaking to God more important or speaking to people? Of course, speaking to God is more important. As a result, many people feel that they do not need to pray in tongues.
> On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and comfort. The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up. (1 Corinthians 14:3-5)
Above, when did Paul say that we do not need to pray in tongues? He did not. Paul is saying: praying in tongues is speaking to God, and praying in tongues builds up oneself. Many people think: I do not need to build myself up, I will directly build up the church. That is a joke; if you cannot even build yourself up, how can you build up others? If you are full of bad habits, who can you build up? Without the Holy Spirit and without praying in tongues often, what can people serve?
Therefore, Paul is saying that speaking in tongues can build up oneself, and prophesying can build up the church. Can these two be separated? No, they cannot. Is speaking to God not important, but speaking to people more important? That is nonsense. Paul later said:
> For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays but my mind is unfruitful. (1 Corinthians 14:14)
Do you understand? Some people say that I do not understand when someone prays in tongues. That is right, because you were not meant to understand; it is speaking to God! What are you all reading in the Bible? Paul also said:
> What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, and I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, and I will sing with my mind also. (1 Corinthians 14:15)
This is very simple to understand. Did Paul say not to use tongues? No:
> I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. (1 Corinthians 14:18)
Today, brothers and sisters, after listening to what I have said, begin to restore a normal system of faith, that is, to restore the teachings of the Apostle Paul. Paul never said that praying in tongues is optional, but these people distort it, including whether praying in tongues can be interpreted. Paul meant that if it cannot be interpreted, it cannot build up the church. When have you ever seen all of Paul's prayers in tongues being interpreted? I have not seen it. On the day of Pentecost in the Book of Acts, when the Holy Spirit came, were all their prayers in tongues interpreted? No. Some people say that you should pray in tongues alone, but didn't one hundred and twenty people pray in tongues together in the Bible? And they prayed as if they were drunk. The first recorded prayer in tongues in the Bible was a large group of people praying together. Is there a problem? There is no problem at all, only those who do not understand have many problems. If people cannot understand this, then they cannot even understand watching TV dramas. Some people have followed me step by step out of bondage, understood novels, and also understood the Bible, and are getting better and better.
## Removing the Myth of Seeking the Holy Spirit, Receiving Evil Spirits
Today, I will read a passage from the Bible to you. See how Jesus predicted that these people would talk nonsense: Don't ask for tongues! Asking for tongues may bring evil spirits... They say all sorts of things, but can't God manage such a small matter? Today, everyone must remove the myths and fears about praying in tongues and simply believe in God, because our God mentioned it in the Gospel of Luke:
> And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. (Luke 11:5-8)
What does this mean? In the middle of the night, a friend comes to borrow bread. We are in bed and cannot get up to give it to him. But because he persistently asks, Get up, get up, get up, quickly get up and give me bread, or I won't let you sleep today, so urgently, even if we do not consider our friendship, we will get up and give it to him. What is this about? It refers to verses 9-13:
> And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:9-13)
So how should we ask? “Ah, fill me with the Holy Spirit, fill me with the Holy Spirit, Father…” If one day does not work, then two days; if two days do not work, then three days; if three days do not work, then four days; if four days do not work, then five days… until the Holy Spirit comes down. So I ask everyone, will an evil spirit come down? Would God give you an evil spirit if you ask for the Holy Spirit? Isn’t that blasphemy? This statement is very wrong. It is no wonder that a person who talks nonsense will be cursed. God will surely repay them, not because of anything else, but because they preach the word of God according to the lies of the devil.
Today, brothers and sisters may have many confusions, but we must remove fear. Will our heavenly Father not give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him? The heavenly Father will surely give us good things, so do not be afraid and do not worry. Someone said, Once I lead people to be filled with the Holy Spirit and pray in tongues, the demons will howl. I often encounter this. Once, I went to a place to teach, and in the middle of the course, a person was brought in. The person who brought him in told me, Teacher Liu, look, this person is about to collapse and is about to die. I said, That's easy, I'll lead him in prayer. As a result, as soon as I prayed, the Holy Spirit filled him, and the demons howled. Why? Because when the Holy Spirit moves, the demons will be driven out, and the demons will howl. What happened then? The person in charge came, and I quickly slipped away because it was their territory. Then they patted his chest and stroked his back. If I understood correctly, they pushed the demons back in. What are people afraid of? Why pat his chest and stroke his back? If you kill the demons off, wouldn't this person be delivered? I lament: today, people with fear are as numerous as cows' hairs. Many people ask, How do I know if I am filled with the Holy Spirit? The answer is: being filled with the Holy Spirit means having tongues. How do I know if praying in tongues comes from God or from an evil spirit? Do we need to know this? This question is very strange. We need to know that God has prepared for us the best gift, which is the Holy Spirit. If people do not believe it, then so be it.
## Summary
What is today’s theme about? The theme is: This gospel is a gospel filled with the Holy Spirit. This is such a wonderful thing, but it has been ruined by these people. Regarding Romans, Martin Luther summarized justification by faith, but that is not the case at all. The Book of Romans in the Bible speaks of: This gospel is the power of God. Because the Holy Spirit struggles with the desires of our flesh, putting to death the evil deeds of the body. Romans speaks of victory, a victorious gospel, a gospel filled with the Holy Spirit. What is justification by faith? Have many people been justified after believing? What they believe is not the gospel filled with the Holy Spirit, so can they be victorious?
Brothers and sisters, from Genesis onwards, our God has repeatedly reminded us, until today, still telling us that we can only succeed by the Spirit of God. Today, do you yearn to live out the image of Jesus Christ? If you yearn for it, start reading the Bible, look at it plainly according to the word of God, and you will find that without the Holy Spirit, what can you live out?
If you want to be a monk, you don’t need to be filled with the Holy Spirit, just sit with your legs crossed and chant scriptures there. But today, if you want to be a Christian, and a Christian like Jesus, then you must be filled with the Holy Spirit. Of course, there are four steps: First, repent; second, be baptized in the name of Jesus; third, receive forgiveness of sins; fourth, receive the promised Holy Spirit. Simple? Simple. Straightforward? Straightforward. Let us no longer distort the word of God, but understand the word of God and the will of God.
