I. The Essence and Method of Seeking Guidance from the Holy Spirit
- Seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit is "difficult to articulate," easily leading to confusion. However, this confusion is normal because receiving revelation from the Holy Spirit is not unattainable.
- It is like a sudden inspiration when doing things, "suddenly understanding," "enlightenment" is a spiritual matter.
- When feeling confused, not understanding, or feeling that something is "not quite right," one must pray and seek.
- Through repeatedly reading scriptures and pondering in prayer, the Holy Spirit will reveal in the mind, causing sudden enlightenment.
- The accomplishment of all things is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of God.
II. Case Study of Genesis 27: Eight Major Confusions and Spiritual Revelations
Why Was Isaac Blind?
- People naturally think that the eyes of the elderly will go blind, which is a common confusion.
- God made Isaac blind so that Jacob could be blessed. If Isaac's eyes were not blind, Jacob's impersonation would not have been possible.
- God, in order to fulfill Jacob's Mingding Doctrine to be blessed, did not hesitate to let Isaac's eyes go blind. The core is that God's actions transcend human common sense.
Rebekah's Role and "Curse"
- Rebekah designed for Jacob to deceive his father, which may incur a curse.
- Rebekah was a very spiritual person. She longed to be the father of many nations (referring to her descendants becoming the father of many nations) when she was young, and she valued the spiritual Mingding Doctrine.
- All these things were "directed" by God. On the surface, people are doing it, but in reality, God is operating behind the scenes, enabling Jacob to obtain the birthright. Therefore, Rebekah should not be criticized.
- There are many seemingly immoral things in the Bible (such as Judah having children with his daughter-in-law), but these figures appear in the genealogy of Jesus, indicating that for the sake of "the sonship of God," anything can be put down and done, and God does not blame.
Jacob's "Deception"
- Many people are confused that Jacob deceived his father with a lie ("I am your firstborn Esau"). This is not called "deception." Jacob's birthright was sold to Jacob by Esau for a bowl of red bean soup. It was "bought" by Jacob, not obtained by robbery or deception.
- Applying sheepskin, the father's blindness, etc., are all "normal procedures." God accomplished these things for Jacob, and it cannot be said to be deception. God did not blame Jacob either.
- For the sake of obtaining the sonship of God, anything can be put down and done.
Why Did Isaac Fail to Detect the Deception?
- God confused Isaac and ultimately decided to bless Jacob. God wanted to accomplish this, so even the roughest "makeup" could succeed.
- As long as a person has a seeking heart and a desire to obtain the sonship of God, even a rough disguise can "pass the test."
The "Fragrance" on Jacob
- Isaac smelled the fragrance on Jacob, "like the fragrance of a field blessed by the Lord." This fragrance is real, indicating that God is with Jacob.
- As a person skilled in farming (digging wells, planting, and herding sheep are all good at), Isaac could distinguish the fragrance of a field blessed by the Lord.
- The smell on a person can reflect their spiritual state: a "bad smell" may indicate an evil spirit, while a "fragrance" certainly comes from the Spirit of God (such as the fragrance of Christ flowing from the Apostle Paul).
The Blessing Jacob Received is the "Standard Configuration" of the Son of God
- "May God give you heaven's dew and earth's richness of grain and new wine in abundance. May nations serve you and peoples bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you; may those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed." These words are the "standard configuration" of the Son of God.
- "May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed": This blessing was given in the time of Abraham, then passed on to Isaac, and then to Jacob, possessing great power and protection.
Esau's "Blessing" and "Curse"
- Did Isaac only have one blessing? Why couldn't he give Esau the same blessing? This is Esau's confusion.
- "I have made him lord over you (Esau), and all his (Jacob's) relatives I have made subject to him. I have sustained him with grain and new wine—so what can I possibly do for you, my son?" Isaac's answer indicates the uniqueness and non-repeatability of the firstborn's blessing.
- "You will live by the sword" is a curse, reflecting Esau's "love for the world." All who live by the sword live under a curse.
- "You will serve your brother." In fact, Esau's existence is to highlight the blessedness of his brother Jacob.
The Hardship of Jacob's Flight to Haran
- As a wealthy young man, Jacob could have lived comfortably, but he had to flee and work hard.
- People must pay the price for their Mingding Doctrine. What you pursue and what you love, you will pay the price for it. This is a matter of course. Jacob longed for the sonship of God, so he had to pay the corresponding price.
III. Seeking Truth and Chinese Mingding Doctrine
- It is normal to encounter things that are not understood or cause confusion. Be sure to seek, explore, and understand, and the Spirit of God will surely lead us into the truth.
- Do not pretend to understand, and do not develop the bad habit of "just doing it that way" with a snap of the head, thinking it is "not important."
- The characteristic of Chinese Mingding Doctrine: It is not just a literal interpretation, but through seeking and praying, allowing the Spirit of God to unravel confusion, enabling people to understand the true spiritual meaning and the truth of things behind the Bible.
- Human wisdom can never fully understand the Bible, but through continuous seeking, the Spirit of God will grant revelation, enabling people to obtain a smooth understanding.
