How to Grasp the Theme
Regarding the theme of this chapter, the brothers and sisters have shared exceptionally well, basically grasping some key points. One thing that is lacking is the reason for choosing this as the theme. When you choose a theme, it must be related to the content within this large passage. If it is related, then the theme is appropriate; if it is not related, then it is not particularly appropriate.
Therefore, when we are looking for a theme, the most important thing is to see whether the theme can integrate the content of the entire chapter. If it can integrate the content of the entire chapter, then you have basically found what the author wants to express in this passage. If you do not read the Bible in this way, you will not be able to do things well in your daily life. Grasping a theme is grasping the meaning that the author wants to express in this passage.
In fact, whether we are preaching or writing books, you will find that the author wants to express a meaning. How does he express this meaning? He unfolds it piece by piece around this theme. When we read, we must read in this way. For example, when we study accounting, you have to read it this way; when you study law, you also have to read it this way. You have to know what people are doing, why people write it this way, there is a reason for it. Everything has an underlying essence. If you cannot grasp the theme, you are probably not a good learner.
When we read the Bible, do not think that we are only reading the Bible. In fact, we have also mastered a method of understanding what the author of this passage wants to express, so grasping the theme is very important. Sometimes when I listen to people preaching online, I clearly feel that they do not talk about the theme. They talk about whatever they want to talk about. They have their own ideas, and then they use the Bible to argue for their own ideas. I do not think this is an appropriate thing to do. We cannot use the Bible to prove our own ideas; we must use the Bible to read out what God wants to tell us.
Destiny is God's Will
If I were to give this chapter a title, I would title it: Jehovah is the Commander of Our Victory. We must know one thing: we can have our own ideas, but whether your own idea is God's idea depends on whether you can be victorious in the end. Why does Chinese Mingding Destiny theology want to push everyone into destiny? Because entering destiny is God's original intention when He created us.
We must begin to know that we are living to live in God's plan. If we live in our own small plans, and your plan is not God's plan, then do you still accept Jehovah as your commander? Certainly not, and it certainly will not work. Therefore, we must begin to return from a mistaken system of personal cultivation theology to God's plan. Returning to God's plan is called destiny. There is no blessing outside of destiny; blessings are all within destiny, because destiny is God's will for us.
Many of our brothers and sisters sometimes ask pastors to pray for their money. I say, Is it God's will for me to pray for your money? No. The Bible never prays for money. You pray for my this, pray for my that, but praying for these things of yours does not seem to be recorded much in the Bible.
But in the Bible, from Genesis to Joshua, you will find that it revolves around one theme, called Mingding Destiny. This destiny is God's will, God's plan. God's plan is to bring the Israelites to Canaan, to the Promised Land, to make them a blessed people. God's plan is to have the Israelites enter the Promised Land in order to fulfill God's promise to Abraham.
In fact, in God's plan, there is also a more crucial matter: why was this promise given to Abraham? Because Abraham is a man with destiny. What Abraham sought was to become a blessing to all nations and peoples on earth, so God also hoped that he could become a blessing to all nations and peoples on earth. That is God's original intention. This is called destiny.
Victory in Spiritual Warfare Depends Entirely on God
Because Jehovah is the commander of Israel, the Israelites entering Canaan is nothing other than God's will, God's plan. Therefore, God caused the kings of Canaan to hear that Jehovah had dried up the waters of the Jordan River before the Israelites, and their hearts were melted because of the Israelites, and they no longer had courage.
Victory in spiritual warfare depends entirely on God. If you ask me, Why is God clearly with us? Because we are building His church according to God's will, because we honor God as our commander. In fact, when we fight with God, it is not we who are in front, but our God who is in front. We must begin to know for sure that when we first start fighting, the hearts of the enemies are melted.
In spiritual warfare, the devil cannot stand before God's people, cannot stand before God's army, not because Joshua is the commander of the Israelites, but because Jehovah God Himself is the commander of Israel. Therefore, the church does not care whether it is big or small, but whether it is walking in God's will.
Among all the churches, our requirements are very high. Why are the requirements so high? Because we are doing God's plan, we are requiring brothers and sisters according to God's will, there is no problem with this. Precisely because we do this, in the battlefield of spiritual warfare, you will see that we have fought one victory after another. Not because our muscles are big, not because we are tall, not because our IQ is high, nor because our abilities are great, none of that.
Regardless of whether you are a noble person, whether you are a capable person, whether you are a smart person, and regardless of whether your IQ is high or your EQ is high, these things that the world talks about are actually not very effective. The key is: God is our commander, we are not completing our own plan, but completing God's plan.
In these last days, God will raise up an army of God's power that can fight well in the spiritual world, release the captives, and release the oppressed. This is God's plan. If you read the Bible, you will know that I will never deceive you. Among our brothers and sisters, there are not many who are noble, and not many who are capable. I get anxious when I see them doing things.
My colleague installed a door, installed a lock, and ended up breaking the door. The lock was not installed, the hole that should have been drilled was not drilled, and the one that should not have been drilled was drilled. I was thinking, from a human perspective, how can we fight like this? But God uses this group of people in this way. According to my flesh, my fire啊, I try my best to deal with the carnal nature in me. When I get angry, I forget that God is our commander. It does not matter whether the hole is big or small, the key is whether we are walking in God's will.
We really are not many who are noble, and not many who are capable, because we do not rely on these things. We are not a worldly army. We do not rely on chariots, we do not rely on horses, we do not rely on abilities, we do not rely on muscles, we do not rely on size. Showing off muscles is useless. Practicing Iron Palm, Toad Stance, after practicing, at best, you can only hit people, but we are fighting demons. Can practicing muscles defeat demons? Jehovah is our commander. This is the most fundamental concept. If our brothers and sisters fall into the idea that my ability is not very good, then you are in trouble.
The Israelites led by Joshua were still a motley crowd, but one thing changed: they accepted God as their commander. Do you think God needs the Israelites to accept Him? God needs to. God causes us to be victorious not because of anything else, but because we honor Him as our Lord.
If you do not believe it, you can try it. You may have just believed in the Lord not long ago. You can start trying to fight a demon. You feel that your skills are not very good, your abilities are not great, but when you deal with demons, releasing those captive souls, it works, it definitely works. When fighting spiritual battles, never rely on yourself, rely on God, because God is our commander.
Before the battle even starts, the opponent's heart is melted. Can you not win? In the last section of Joshua Chapter 5, when Joshua approached Jericho, he saw a man with a drawn sword in his hand, standing there facing Joshua. Joshua went to him and asked a question: Are you for us or for our enemies? No matter how spiritual Joshua was, when he saw such a scene, he thought it was him fighting against the Canaanites.
In fact, this is a commendable matter. Just such a Joshua became the leader of the Israelites. Are you helping us, or helping them? Actually, it is not about God helping them or helping us, but about God being the commander of the army of Jehovah.
When God came and saw the Israelites who had been trained in the wilderness for 40 years, at this time, they could finally accept God as their commander. In those 40 years, they trained every day, read God's Word every day, and spoke every day. At this time, the Israelites developed a new habit: we will do whatever God says.
The Canaanites lost their courage. In fact, these people are also very stupid. From a human perspective, after the Israelites crossed the Jordan River, they were circumcised there. Circumcision is a surgery on everyone's body. For at least 3 days, they could not fight. It is very uncomfortable to have a wound. It may take a week or so to recover. It hurts to move with a wound, let alone fight.
At this time, if the people of Canaan rushed out and destroyed them, would that not be very easy? In fact, we humans see this matter in this way, but you forget one thing: Jehovah God is the commander of the Israelites. Everyone was circumcised and could not fight at all. Why did they have to be circumcised after crossing the Jordan River? It would have been better to be circumcised before crossing the Jordan River, wait for the wound to heal, and then cross the Jordan River, right? This is according to human reasoning.
But God did it this way! We can think of this matter, the Israelites can definitely think of it as well, so Joshua's courage was also great. I tell you, spiritual people must have a spirit of adventure. How can you be a spiritual person without a spirit of adventure? What was the result? The enemies did not rush out. In fact, the Canaanites did not want to rush out, they wanted to rush out. Joshua looked there and saw a man with a drawn sword, standing there. In fact, that person had been standing there for a long time. I have experienced this personally very deeply.
After the Israelites were circumcised, God and God's soldiers camped around them. Of course, the Bible does not write this, I said it myself. The surrounding Canaanites sent a few spies out to take a look, and they saw God's angels and heavenly soldiers, as numerous as the sand on the seashore, surrounding the Israelites in three layers inside and three layers outside, and they could not break in at all. But the Israelites did not see them. Joshua only saw one messenger. In fact, there were many that they could not see.
If God Wants to Help Us, No One Can Resist
When our church was fighting in the spiritual battlefield, when the church was not so victorious, I was very courageous. There was a sumo wrestler studying at the school where I worked. That sumo wrestler was not a national-level athlete, but he was a provincial-level athlete. His palms were very big, his fingers were as thick as carrots, and he weighed more than 300 pounds. He was very scary.
One day, when I was working in my office, he rushed into my office and said: Quick! Quick! Quick! Help me, help me! I said: What's wrong? He said: I can't control myself anymore. My hands want to hit people. If a sumo wrestler starts fighting, he will kill one person with one hand. Something will happen. He himself could not control himself, but he knew that he did not want to hit people, so he came to me.
When he came to me, I prayed for him to cast out demons. As a result, those two big hands were about 20 centimeters away from my neck. Those two hands formed a semicircle, coming over to strangle my neck. I was praying there. Were I afraid? Yeah, a little bit. If he stuffed me under his butt, 300 pounds, sitting would kill me too.
He was trying to strangle me on one side, and on the other side, he began to tremble, and suddenly fell to the ground. After a few minutes, he woke up and said he was fine. I said: What were you doing just now? He said: The demon in me wanted to strangle you. I said: I was right in front of you. Those two big hands came up to strangle me! He said: Strangle what? I couldn't strangle you. It was an invisible force. At that time, I felt that my God was really amazing.
There is also one thing, a Singaporean, my colleagues have all seen him, it was a recent thing. This person was 1.9 meters tall, more than 100 kilograms. He was a martial arts coach, a Taekwondo master. As a result, he said that his leg was injured. He sat there, and I began to pray for him. As soon as I prayed, the whole person began to perform monkey boxing, very beautifully, simply superb.
As a result, he performed his monkey boxing, and I cast out my demons. He clenched his fists and wanted to come over. Just as he was about to extend his fist to me, he suddenly fell to the ground. I was even afraid of breaking him. He wanted to come over and hit me, the demon in him hated me to death, but he fell down himself. It was really too amazing. If you ask me if I saw God next to me? I did not see him.
If I really saw an angel of God draw his sword at that time, that would have been quite interesting too. Even if I told you that I saw it, you would not necessarily believe it, but I did not see it. What does this experience prove? As long as we walk in God's will, no one can do anything to you. Those sumo wrestlers and Taekwondo masters could not do anything to me when they were being released. Don't you think it's very interesting?
There was also one time, a Singaporean, he was a senior executive of a company. He could not read the Bible. He was uncomfortable, he was uncomfortable every day. I took him to pray. The Holy Spirit said to me: You stay away from him. I moved 2 meters away, but I continued to lead him in prayer. As a result, in just a few milliseconds, he suddenly came over. He had practiced yoga. He came over and wanted to beat me up. Fortunately, thank God, he did not hit me.
After this matter, I knew that God is our commander, who can harm us? Even if the Israelites were circumcised, the people around them were not stupid. Seeing them being circumcised and celebrating the Passover there, they definitely wanted to rush up and kill them. What we can think of, can they not think of it? They watched there every day. As a result, what did they see? What they saw should be God's soldiers, a sea of people, an army with well-equipped soldiers.
Our brothers and sisters, when you go out to fight, it is not because you have great skills, but because you are soldiers in the army of Jehovah God. God is our commander. If God wants to help us, who can resist us? This is faith.
The Israelites were really obedient. What were the Israelites thinking? They were thinking: If God wants us to keep the circumcision, we will keep the circumcision. We will do whatever God says. We must not be like their previous generation who kept wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. Joshua also endured until he was 150 years old. This is definitely not possible. But this group of people, after being tempered in the wilderness, became powerful.
Removing the Nature of a Slave
When I was in elementary school, in that era, we had the Up to the Mountains and Down to the Countryside movement. At the mention of Up to the Mountains and Down to the Countryside, the children in the city were scared to death. But it is good to go to the countryside for a while and suffer a little bit. In fact, I gradually began to understand that people cannot bear endless blessings, only endless suffering. Nothing is missing, money if you want, car if you want, house if you want, everything you want, and then they come up with a sentence: Oh, actually it's nothing. But when you don't have these things and can only sleep on the streets, you try it. People especially like to make trouble when they are in a very comfortable environment, they lack nothing, but they like to make trouble, it's really strange.
Gradually, I discovered that people need a difficult environment to train their faith. So a difficult environment is not terrible. What is terrible is falling asleep and sleeping until the sun sets in the west, getting up and committing adultery, like David. When he was fleeing in the wilderness, he wrote Psalms every day. After he became king, he began to make excuses saying that he did not have time to write Psalms. So our brothers and sisters must know that those trained in the wilderness are all elite soldiers of God. After such training, they accepted God's Word, they knew that God was their commander, so they received circumcision.
Circumcision is a surgery on the human genitals. A child drew a circumcision, drew a knife, and drew a gift. He thought circumcision was a gift. Circumcision is indeed a gift, but it does not mean cutting open the gift, but cutting off the most obvious part of human carnal lust, the most obvious part of carnal lust is the human genitals.
In fact, God gave circumcision to Abraham. Abraham was 100 years old when he received this circumcision. God asked him to do this surgery, and he did it. As a result, the Israelites were circumcised generation after generation, from generation to generation. Circumcision is to cut off the carnal lust. If a person cannot accept God as our commander, he is a carnal person. The most obvious thing about a carnal person is that he relies on his own hands and his own abilities to survive. While relying on his own abilities to survive, they feel they are not good enough, and then they get tangled up. Isn't that very painful? But how happy it is to have God? We can rely on God. As to whether we can do it or not, it doesn't matter.
As long as you have God, nothing matters. The Israelites completed the circumcision. Jehovah God said to Joshua: Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you. Can you understand? What does it mean? It means that they used to carry carnal habits. A person carrying carnal habits is a slave in the worldly environment. A carnal person is a person enslaved by this world.
Because he lives in carnal habits, he is very tired. These Israelites accepted circumcision by faith, and then God said that the reproach of Egypt had been rolled away from them. What is the reproach of Egypt? It is the nature of a slave in a person's body. This nature is very strange. If you don't whip him from behind, he won't work hard. This is called the nature of a slave. If a person has the image of a son of God, he does not need a supervisor with a whip to whip him to work.
In the process of putting to death the deeds of the body, it is actually the process of removing the nature of a slave. A person has no faith, does not know that God is our commander, and will live in fear. This is actually the most obvious feature of the nature of a slave. Therefore, the timid cannot enter the Promised Land. The timid will be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, because timidity is actually a specific manifestation of human carnal nature.
You will find that no matter how high a person sits, there is still fear in him. No matter how much money a person has, there will still be fear in him. But once a person truly accepts God as our commander, you will not care about anything, you will not be afraid of anything, because God is in control. So God rolled away the reproach of Egypt from them.
Before we obtain the Promised Land, we must remove the reproach of Egypt from us, that is, the nature of a slave, because the nature of a slave cannot inherit the Promised Land. Abraham had two wives, one was Hagar, and the other was Sarah. Sarah's children inherited the promise, but Hagar's children could not inherit the inheritance. The Israelites removed the nature of a slave in Gilgal (Gilgal means to roll away). Why is keeping circumcision a symbol of removing the reproach of Egypt? Because keeping circumcision is to cut off carnal lusts. This is an adventurous action that one must take to accept God as our commander
Seek First the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness
Next, they observed the Passover in that place, which was indeed a risky undertaking. During Passover, warfare was forbidden; even if attacked, one could not retaliate. Why this prohibition? Because the Lord God is our Commander. We need not, and indeed cannot, protect ourselves on this day. I once read that during the Six-Day War in 1967, the Israelites, observing the Sabbath, did not engage in combat. To attack Israel on the Sabbath was to invite God's own enmity.
We must understand that exploiting the perceived vulnerabilities of God's people is misguided. Our weakness is precisely where God's strength resides. Trust in Him during these moments, and He will surely be our rearguard. The crux of the matter lies in whether we are living according to God's will. To accept God as our Lord means to be committed to accomplishing His plan for us, not our own, for our own plans are fruitless.
Whether as a warning, exhortation, or reminder, I caution those who cling to their own grand designs. While you may have great faith in your ability to achieve your goals, such faith is of little use unless grounded in trust in God. To those who aspire to worldly gain and seek prayers for their financial ambitions, I say this is not God's plan. If someone asks for prayer for their business, direct your petitions instead to the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. All these things shall be added unto you.
Since our church's transformation from a house of little prayer to one of fervent supplication, we have made it a point not to pray for matters outside of God's plan. Concerns such as childbirth, marriage, or job seeking are excluded from our prayers. I still have the prayer lists where I used to write out the prayers for our brothers and sisters to recite, but now we do not do that anymore.
We can now pray normally and simply seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, praying for the building of God's glorious church. As a result, a remarkable thing has occurred: all our concerns have been resolved effortlessly. Before, we prayed fervently for these things, for housing, for jobs, and it all seemed so difficult. Now, we have discovered that for those who are blessed, these things are not a problem. How wonderful it is to walk according to God's plan, yet many today do not know this.
In the New Testament, you will not find Paul praying for anyone to find a job, bear children, find a spouse, or go on dates. Such things are absent. Paul focused on one thing: seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, that we may be a people of Mingding Destiny. You may, of course, try to seek your own agenda, but be warned. If you pray specifically to pass an exam or achieve a doctorate, you may find that your prayers hinder rather than help, for such prayers are not in accordance with Scripture.
Some say that the Bible tells us to bring our needs to God. But what is it that you truly need? If your needs are worldly, you may not yet be truly in alignment with God. Once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord, we surrender our own sovereignty to Him. We no longer live for ourselves but for the purposes of God. Some ask: How can we live like this? The answer is that only by living this way can we truly thrive, for God will encamp around you.
The effort we expend on our own affairs often leads to much suffering. Let me share an older testimony. A man suffered from hemorrhoids but refused my advice to avoid surgery. After the operation, he was in great pain, with an open wound that he had to force himself to pass bowels through. It was a terrifying experience, and he was in agony.
Being compassionate, I prayed with him daily, often until the early hours of the morning. After two hours of prayer, the pain would subside, but as soon as I tried to sleep, he would be in pain again, and we would continue praying. He could sleep, but I could not.
This went on for some time, and I realized something was amiss. I asked him what he did when he was not in pain, and he said he used his phone. I asked if he could serve others during those times, but he said, No. Those among us who have been believers for a while are involved in serving, as there are many in need: those with insomnia, depression, pain, illness. We must have people among us who will serve.
One day, I grew angry and said, You are praying with your mouth, not with your backside where the surgery was done. Why can't you use your phone to lead others in prayer? You pray for your backside every day, and I am getting tired of it. I have not slept in days! After I scolded him, he began to lead others in prayer, and all the pain disappeared.
Our brothers and sisters began to contemplate that if we are soldiers in the army of the Lord, we ought not to seek our own benefit but only to please God. There are so many needs in this generation; can you meet them all with your own hands? The Bible says, The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Let us not think that by following the Lord in this way, we cannot thrive. Many believe, yet act as if they do not, like the Israelites who died in the wilderness, a disgrace to Egypt. Let us not continue to live in that shame.
Strive to Enter God's Plan
The Israelites observed the Passover, which was an act of faith that risked their lives. However, with the Lord God as their commander, they had no fear. Once one accepts God as our commander, the quality of our actions is secondary. Even when kicking a dog, one looks to its master, let alone when harming a person.
Are we not God's people? Can God not handle such matters? He certainly can. Many read the Bible, but hesitate during crucial moments and feel that God is unable to manage. If a 300-pound sumo wrestler tried to sit on me, could he? With God as my commander, what does 300 pounds matter? Even 3,000 pounds! So, let us not be afraid. If we make ourselves our own master, you will be forever solving your problems, never able to resolve them completely.
Some among us live in various delusions, being lukewarm Christians. To these lukewarm Christians, I offer a bit of advice: be a Christian that stands out! Be the kind of Christian who acknowledges the Lord God as their commander! Then, we will see God encamp around us, and His glory will be manifested wherever we go. No demonic enemy will be able to stand against you all the days of your life.
When I was casting out demons, the demon said, We know who you are; you are famous in the heavens! The demon was quite articulate, and while I am not sure how much of what it said was true, I believe it spoke some truth. The demon suffered greatly. Later, demons said the same thing to those among us who frequently cast them out, You are also famous; you are all from the heavens! Once we become soldiers in God's army and surrender our sovereignty to God, we have no fear.
The Israelites partook of the produce of the land after observing Passover, and the manna ceased the next day. Was this good or bad? I tell you, it was good. They had already eaten manna for 40 years. If I were to ask you what you wanted to eat and you said bird's nest soup, and then we had bird's nest soup for every meal for 40 years, that would not be good. To eat the produce of the land, grains, and other dishes in countless varieties, that is good. Once you accept the Lord God as your commander, life is no longer just eating manna but eating the various products of the promised land. How wonderful is that!
There is a ministry called Manna in the Wilderness. I do not think it is a good name, but people are free to choose what they want. I think Produce of the Promised Land sounds nice, flowing with milk and honey, that is wonderful. In other words, the manna ceased, and a brilliant life began. Life in the wilderness is quite dull, but without training in the wilderness, one cannot remove the servile nature, the shame of Egypt. If we accept God as our commander, we would have entered the promised land 38 years earlier.
To eat manna for 38 extra years, even if you are not catering to your flesh, that is not God's plan. That is God's Plan B. Plan A was to enter the promised land, but the Israelites refused because they did not know that God was their commander. Therefore, that generation perished.
God said that the generation of soldiers who came out of Egypt was annihilated because they did not obey the Lord. The Lord had sworn to them that they would not see the land promised to their ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey. Later, their descendants, whom God raised up, succeeded them and began to partake of the abundant fruits of the promised land, which is very wonderful.
We must know that the life of a Christian should be very vibrant. Christians should be a creative people, victorious, and able to live out God's glorious image in every aspect and level of life!
Total Surrender Before God
After eating the produce of the land, Joshua saw a messenger, and then this statement appeared. The person held a knife, why? Because he was ready to protect God's people at any time. No one could come near because these were God's people. Not only protecting God's people, but these messengers of God also advanced ahead of the Israelites into the promised land, beginning spiritual warfare. Those spirits behind the Canaanites were completely defeated.
Therefore, the hearts of the Canaanites melted. This feeling in the heart is a very spiritual feeling. It is so easy for God to deal with the local people. How wonderful it is to be God's people! This caused Joshua to approach him and ask, Are you for us, or for our adversaries? He replied, No; but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come. Then Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped. To fall on one's face to the ground is to surrender, and then he said:
What does my lord command his servant? And the commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so. (Joshua 5:14-15)
This statement sounds a bit strange. Why was the place where he was standing holy? A place where God is present is called a holy land. In Exodus, what is dedicated to the Lord is holy. Once we turn to God, we are holy. Once a place has God's presence, that place becomes holy. The place where he was standing was holy, so why take off his shoes? Because his soles did not need to be separated from God's holiness by shoes. Touch more of a consecrated place. Whoever touches the altar shall be holy.
We must strive to get as close to God as possible, not relying on our own protection. We do not need to protect ourselves at all, not even with shoes. Why do people wear shoes? To protect our feet. What if we take off our shoes and injure our feet? If that place is holy, if it is a place consecrated by God, that place will not hurt our feet, that place has God's protection. You do not need to protect yourself; you only need God to protect you.
Once we surrender beneath God, we will prevail in wrestling with God and with man. Joshua did not wrestle with the messenger of God; he surrendered voluntarily. He had already overcome the carnal, servile nature within him, so when he came before God, he did not need to wrestle. He prevails in wrestling with God and with man. Why is submission to God called victory? Because it wins God's protection and blessing.
With God, what problem cannot be solved? With God, no problem is a problem. Imagine, brothers and sisters, that God can support the earth, the solar system, the galaxy, and the universe with His omnipotent hands. We humans are like dust on the earth. Can God not manage us? Let us start all over. Surrender to God all our own plans, our own dreams, our own thoughts, and begin to enter God's will and plan.
After Joshua entered Canaan, did he gain possessions? Yes, he gained a double portion. So, let us not think that we cannot thrive by trusting in God. If we trust in God, we will live well. I would like to ask those who do not trust in God, how are you living? Let us not think that trusting in God is doing nothing; that is a delusion.
Are there some among us who do nothing at home but attend meetings all day long? You may become a hearing expert, a meeting king, but that is not what God wants; that is called a religious person. What we want is for people to completely surrender their entire lives to God, not to attend meetings, but to complete God's wonderful plan for us. To do no housework and nothing else, making the home a mess, can that be done? Those with depression are like that, their homes are terribly dirty.
Once God becomes the commander of Israel, the next step is to pursue the victory relentlessly. No matter how thick the walls, they cannot hinder God's will. When Israelis surrender before God, when they fought, they won. Because God became their Commander. We must already prepare ourselves. If you have not tasted the flavor of being the people of God in the past, just try to be the people of God.
A sister called me that her mother has had vertigo, but could find no explanation after 14 days in the hospital. She comes back home to see her mother from abroad. She worries about what is needed, and prepares this and that, but there is no need to overthink! I worry a lot as well; I tell her to do this and do that. Absolutely unnecessary! It is because God is doing the work!
For more than ten days before this sister returned home, her mother started to develop vertigo. We led her mother in prayer for more than four hours continuously! After asking her mother, Are you feeling better? and she responded Yes! she then fell asleep. When she woke up, she felt much better, but then it very quickly came back. We then led her in prayer again, and she improved very soon.
When we have Yahweh God as our Commander, you discover God really does work. And then you begin to know God truly is working with your extended family, and He has granted your relatives as your possession to inherit the land, and therefore your relatives will become your possession! Begin to believe God will certainly fulfill what your heart yearns for.
Frankly, God really values the affection between relatives. For instance, in the Bible, because of Abraham, God remembered Abraham, and when He overthrew the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, God rescued Lot. Isn't that very interesting? Because Abraham was related to Lot, our God is a God of favor! If you are Abraham, then that would be wonderful!
God will remember your relatives because of you. And so my brothers and sisters, if you are a person of Mingding Destiny in fulfilling God's plan, God will battle for you right in front of you, then you will discover miraculous events will occur, totally beyond our imagination. Absolutely we must realize people with God are really wonderful! But one problem is a lot of people do not believe.
Why do people not trust God? Because they do not know there is no need when they turn to God. From exiting Israel to entering Canaan, they procrastinated for over 40 years just for this one day. When this day finally arrived, in actual fact, the Israelis were very ecstatic, and Joshua was extremely elated. After waiting for so long, this day finally arrived, so they absolutely must not lose this opportunity and return back into the wilderness, to wander around for another 40 years.
Therefore, Christians loitering in the wilderness must begin to depart and gear up to fully, utterly surrender, to eradicate the Egyptian slave's nature altogether! Attitudes of being slaves in this world must be thoroughly eradicated! Some people say: to live, one must work; if one does not work, how shall one live? With God with us, how could there be any issue with work?
We begin to eradicate the slave's nature from within, to remove the shame of our slaving nature, and then to begin preparing for an entirely new course in our lives, that is to enter into the Promised Land to see how God in front of you will fight on your behalf, and that all those that will be granted to you, you shall receive! All that is promised by God will certainly be fulfilled, and we shall all come under Yahweh's consecration!
