1. Introduction
The testimonies I shared earlier are related to whether one lives a good life or not. To live a good life, one needs wisdom. When I first believed in the Lord in my youth, I was very enthusiastic because my problems were solved, including financial and health issues.
However, one perplexing question arose. A pastor I knew was involved in a car accident. This pastor loved cars very much. Attending his funeral, I warned myself never to love cars. Soon after, I concluded: do not love the world or the things in the world. If you love the world, the world will repay you with disasters.
Over the years, this conclusion has been repeatedly confirmed. Shortly after I became a believer, a university lecturer personally shared his testimony on stage that God had given him a luxury car. In Singapore, buying such a car is not easy. Before buying the car, one must first acquire a Certificate of Entitlement (COE), similar to a lottery system in China. Less than half a year after buying the car, he drove his wife and children out for a trip, resulting in a collision with a large vehicle, leading to death and destruction.
Those who indulge in the flesh and love the world will be dealt with by the old horse (referring to the devil). Later, I discovered that the old horse is very bad, specifically targeting brothers and sisters who love the world, indulging in eating, drinking, and merrymaking. How can a person just die while living? Yesterday, while browsing WeChat Moments, I saw a Christian listening to a Feng Shui master who said that those who love money will live a bitter life, those who love cars will have a miserable life, and those who love their children will have a tiring life. This is a fixed spiritual principle.
I do not love cars. On the path of faith, I constantly remind myself not to love the world. A car is just a means of transportation, as long as it works and can run. It is said that a domestic 5.0 engine has no problem running to Tibet. Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Owning a car and a beautiful wife, only to find in the end that one cannot grasp anything.
Genesis 12:1-3: Now the Lord had said to Abram: 'Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'
These verses reflect Abraham's pursuit. In his pursuit, Abraham wanted to know how a person can live a good life. Then God gave him a revelation: how to live a meaningful life. This is the same as what I sought when I was young. What is the meaning of living the same way every day, with a lifetime of toil and sorrow? How people live, so do beasts. If you are not satisfied with living this way and feel that people should live out their meaning, if you feel you are living well and do not need to change your path, but if you are living a hard life today, I give you a suggestion: believe in Jesus. What exactly is believing in Jesus? To be blessed, one must be a blessing to others, their name must be great, and their nation must become a great nation, thus becoming a blessing to others.
We find that blessings and curses are closely related to whether a person lives a good life or not, and whether a person lives a good life is closely related to the spiritual world. Let us read again:
Genesis 12:1-3: Now the Lord had said to Abram: 'Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'
2. Prayer
Lord, we thank you for such a wonderful revelation in the Bible. Lord Jesus, come and help us know you more deeply, to have better wisdom to imitate Abraham. Lord, open our eyes as you opened Abraham's eyes, so that we may have the wisdom to live out the meaning of life.
3. Abraham's Wisdom I: Knowing the Spiritual Realm, Knowing God
When a person's spiritual eyes are opened, they will definitely experience many spiritual things. A few days ago, a PhD holder came to chat with me. He said he had experienced many things in the spiritual realm. In fact, life and death are very spiritual matters. Strange things often happen when people are on their deathbeds, exceeding the understanding of scientists and doctors. Someone I knew had cancer and could not get out of bed for a long time, so much so that sores and pus developed on his back. However, he often got up and walked around in the middle of the night, talking to the air. Also, I chatted with someone from Qinghai who said that the reason why people keep vigil over the deceased is because they are afraid that cats will run onto the body, causing it to rise and walk.
I experienced many spiritual things when I was young. My father told me many stories. When people watched the fields, they used shotguns to drive away all kinds of animals. One day, my father saw a fox in the field. He was about to raise his gun to shoot, but then he put it down, and then raised it again to shoot, and then put it down again. He told me that this was a very spiritual thing. In our village, there was a shaman. My father forgot to bring back his sweater that he had hung on a tree branch while working. But the shaman told my father not to worry, and that three days later, when we went to look again, the sweater would be back. This was a very strange thing. The spiritual realm is real.
Now, why is it said that Abraham was blessed by God, and why is it said that Abraham was clever? Because Abraham knew that the spiritual realm is real, Abraham knew that God is in control, and he knew that the demons release disturbances and lies, and that these kinds of things are real. He knew that demons would speak through people's mouths, and he knew what the spiritual realm was all about. So now we must also be wise, we must know how things operate in the spiritual realm, how demons release lies, and how to resist them.
Now, although there are many demons, we must know that our God is always the greatest and controls everything. If we know that our God controls everything, then what is there to be afraid of? Our God is the most powerful and has the highest position in the spiritual realm. So the problems we encounter are not too big, do not think of them as so serious. God controls everything. If you are pleasing to God, God will solve your problems.
Now, to receive blessings, one must begin to see through life and death. If you understand life and death, everything can be solved. It is the spirit that gives life, not the things of the world, not relatives, not friends, but God. Why did Abraham receive so many blessings? Because he relied on God. Abraham sought God, not others, not worldly eating, drinking, and merrymaking. Abraham knew to go to God when there were problems. Abraham knew that all problems could be solved by God, so he relied on God. God saw his faithfulness and blessed him, making him a blessing to all nations.
4. Abraham's Wisdom II: Unfettered by Family Ties
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” (Genesis 12:1 NIV)
To be fettered by family ties is to share in the suffering of your kin. Family bonds can be a critical issue. Abraham departed from his father's house before his father's death, a move that surprised many. Why journey to Canaan while his father still lived? They did not know, but it was out of faith in God that Abraham forsook his father. This was a crucial step, a building of faith. Abram never returned to see his father. When Isaac took Rebekah as his wife, Abraham arranged for her to be brought from his homeland. This departure from home signifies a wandering on Earth, and without this sense of wandering, there is no way to move forward towards a better homeland.
Whether in life or death, one must depart from this world. It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is of no avail. Such a person is not bound by family ties. Joseph did not see his father until he had served as prime minister for nine years, demonstrating freedom from family control, as he saw through both life and death.
A man’s enemies are the members of his own household, and Abraham understood this. We must be like Abraham because man lives only to die. Are fleshly family ties truly that important? Why are people controlled by worldly affections? The world uses this to control people. Abraham saw through all things, and whether he had family ties or not was of no consequence. That is why he became a blessing to all nations.
As the saying goes: I have not left my hometown because my parents are still alive, and not being able to leave my hometown has resulted in a life of poverty. This is the control of family affection. We must obey our God. When Lot wanted to leave Abraham, Abraham treated him like a son, not thinking too much about it. When God told Abraham to offer up his son, he truly offered him. When his wife Sarah was taken, Abraham also trusted in God.
Because I myself am unfettered by family ties, I have become a blessing to my family. I have seen through the concepts of life and death. If a person is controlled by family ties, you cannot bless them, and you cannot fight spiritual battles. We often find it difficult to break free from these things. Today, I encourage everyone to break free from the control of family affections, to begin blessing your family members, and to see through these things with spiritual eyes so that we cannot be controlled by them.
We must become people who are unaffected by anything, for that is the best way to live. Abraham’s mental fortitude surpasses our imagination. Begin to emulate Abraham and become a blessing to others. Our Lord Jesus said:
Looking at those seated in a circle around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” (Mark 3:33-35 NIV)
5. Abraham's Wisdom III: Unfettered by Money
In this day and age, those who are controlled by money are utterly confused. A man's greed for money is a cursed thing. A brother coveted his family's house, and an uncle and aunt were fighting over a house. The uncle renovated the house first to establish dominance, but he died of cancer three months later and gained nothing in the end. Therefore, coveting another's house is a deeply cursed thing. Money is also a very spiritual matter.
Abraham, unfettered by money, defeated four kings with one hundred and thirty-eight elite soldiers. Sodom was a very wealthy nation at the time. Abraham did not take a single prize after winning the battle, saying, Just give me my people. Unfettered by money, a person's wealth comes from God's blessing.
One must have a spiritual perspective on money. Abraham's life was one of exceptional wisdom. Unfettered by family affection and money, he became a blessing to others. Outside of Mingding Destiny, there is no blessing. Those who are controlled by money do not live well. It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is of no avail. Therefore, today we, brothers and sisters, must gain freedom and break free from bondage. If you think you need money, you will be controlled by money. If you live with a spiritual perspective, your life will be as wonderful as Abraham's.
6. Conclusion
Emulate Abraham, and do not love the world or the things in the world. Man does not live on food alone; man needs God. Possess Abraham’s wisdom, see through the essence of money, and attain Mingding Destiny to become a blessing to others. A blessed person will surely be blessed in finances and health. The grace that God has prepared for us is what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no mind has conceived.
