I. Introduction

Good day to everyone. Today, I will be speaking on an excellent teaching titled The Stupidity of Greedy Prophets, part of a series called Stupidity. In fact, foolishness is so prevalent as to be ubiquitous, an endless topic. The purpose of discussing foolishness is to enlighten everyone, and the discussion of deception is to help prevent people from being deceived. Last time, I mentioned Jeroboam, whose life's tragedy was due to his own foolishness. All disasters and tragedies begin with foolishness. Jeroboam was a very intelligent and capable man, so why call him foolish? Because he wanted to preserve his position, his throne, and his kingdom, which led to a tragic end.

Logically, this should be a matter of course. If a king doesn’t protect his throne, what is he doing? Isn’t it natural for a chairman to secure his position? Is it truly natural? Jeroboam's end was tragic, leading to the extermination of his clan. He never understood why things turned out this way. Many people are like this, asking in the face of disaster: why did this happen? Why? Because of foolishness, a flawed logical system they are unaware of. No one does what they believe is wrong. Jeroboam didn’t think his choices were wrong; he believed he was acting rationally and intelligently. This logical system is fundamental. If the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do? Nothing!

If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3)

Do you know what Jeroboam's logical system was? It was what is now called political economy. Modern political economy is very complex. To be an economist, one needs an economic theory; to be a politician, a political economic theory. Can a country be governed without such a theory? It seems complex and sophisticated, but how well does it work? Look at how this generation is managing. The United States is not doing well, and other countries aren’t either. So, however good the theory seems, it is not very effective.

An empire declines and another rises, an endless cycle that humans cannot stop—like a mantis trying to stop a chariot! When people believe their economic theories are effective, a crisis crushes them. Then another economic theory emerges, only to be crushed by another crisis. It seems an invisible hand in this generation controls everything. An invisible hand—this is indeed an economic term. Where does this hand come from? It extends from the spiritual realm. People often use what they believe is effective as a guide in life, which is a recipe for tragedy, as it was for Jeroboam.

To live well, you need a theory. Chinese Mingding Destiny is a Mingding Destiny theory that works. Although I created it, my saying it works is not enough; you must examine it. To manage yourself, you need a theory of self-management; to manage a business, a business management theory; to manage a country, a national management theory. If the theoretical foundation is weak or flawed, everything is futile. So, a theory is needed. If the theory is ineffective, following it will lead to failure, which is tragic.

You know woodworking? If the drawings are wrong, can the cuts be right? Impossible. If the calculations are wrong, the computer won’t correct them. Following your logic, it will not be right. Many people can't draw, so they cut without a plan. If it happens to fit, it will be ugly and crooked. I think what we do is good because I like to understand the theory before doing anything. I must tell you I am a scholar; intellectuals work this way—first understanding the theory, then practicing, and then adjusting continuously. Chinese Mingding Destiny was developed this way.

For example, when I was exploring theory, I managed dozens of people as a manager. How to manage them? I couldn’t! It would have been good enough if they hadn’t deceived me. I just didn’t know. I began to assume I knew, and when I managed that way, it became chaotic. I was tired, and no one appreciated it. In the 360-degree evaluation, my indicators were the worst. I thought, I've been good to you, why did you give me these scores? I was disappointed! Disappointed about what? It wasn’t done right. Later, through learning, argumentation, and practice, I completely overthrew and shattered everything I thought I knew.

So, I tell you, what people assume is not effective and must be examined, practiced, and constantly argued. Isn’t it said that practice is the standard for testing truth? Some say it is the only standard. We don't care if it's the only one, but if the results of practice are wrong, the theory is definitely wrong. So, I summarize these things, often asking myself: why should people listen to me? Why should they follow me? Someone typed: Is that following public opinion? No, it is not following public opinion; it is following wisdom. Is public opinion effective? If I follow public opinion, will it work? No.

Yesterday, I took some of my teammates to meet an old friend. My old friend said: Your team is very stable. I said: That's right, very stable. His team is often unstable. Why am I stable? Why do people follow me? Why do people work hard? I must answer, can I manage if I can't answer why people follow me? Some ask: Can you answer these questions? If I couldn't answer, could they work? No. There are still many unanswered questions today, but I have already answered many questions, resolved in theory, and it is definitely effective. Therefore, can you manage if you cannot answer these questions? No!

Chinese Mingding Destiny is a theory with a rigorous logic, tested and proven in practice, discarding what doesn't work and keeping what does. For example, shepherding is a critical component of Chinese Mingding Destiny. Why? Because the Bible is the foundation. I compare it to the Bible and continue to practice. You must know that in Paul's letters, he did not carefully organize the logic of shepherding. I am standing on the shoulders of the Apostle Paul, taking another step forward. As science must develop, so must theology. There is no limit to the path of knowing God, so we have much to advance.

I want to tell you today that practice without theoretical guidance, or theory without practical verification, is foolish. Jeroboam’s foolishness was exceedingly extreme! The ancient saying Men die for wealth, birds for food have you heard it? It is a theory that has studied the most foolish parts of humans very well. The reform and opening up, do you know about it? What was it like before the reform and opening up? Everyone ate from the same pot. If you worked hard, you would be at a disadvantage because it wasn’t for you after you finished. Would you do it? You wouldn’t. So, eating from the same pot eventually ruined everyone. Everyone was eating from the imperial granary, which was fatal.

What great thing did the reform and opening up do? It pushed everyone into the pursuit of money. Money became private, allowing some people to get rich first. If everything comes to you after you finish, people will work hard. As a result, the economy developed, but it was a big problem that people didn't realize it. This enterprise owes two trillion, that enterprise owes one trillion, owing two trillion, one trillion. How much money is that? A lot! Alas, tragedy, all were pushed into the pursuit of money. Have you learned the lessons? Learn slowly. I tell you today that I am thinking about this theory of successfully pushing people into the pursuit of money. It’s right, but there are still things not right. In fact, these leaders are still doing great theoretical exploration, to build a perfect system.

There is an animal called African Second Brother, have you heard of it? That is the hyena. It drills into the butthole, specializing in biting the buttocks when hunting prey, thinking the anus is the money hole. There is a Northeast saying kill the pig from the butt, which is very painful. Hyenas specialize in doing this, killing anything buttplug, its like drilling into the butthole, tragedy! They do stuff all day long, it sounds disgusting, I feel a bit uncomfortable even talking about it. Why? How terrible it is for a pastor to talk about this! It's okay if it's terrible, but humans do it this way, do you think it's stupid or not? The hyena drills into the butthole. What hole are you drilling into today? I have a thick skin, so I speak off the cuff, but I tell the truth, the hyena does this.

Recently I saw a video of a hyena's head stuck in the ass of a dead cow, couldn't get out, tragedy? Being stuck in the money hole is probably the same as an animal being stuck in the ass, foolish. The prophet Balaam, whom we are going to talk about today, also drilled into the money hole. That is the foolishness in the foolishness! Today I tell you, loving money is a very troublesome thing. You ask me: how to make friends? I don't make friends who love money. If you love money, I avoid you, that is too dangerous. If you love money, what are they going to do for money, why owe so much money? Love money, just love making money. Sounds reasonable, but not true, sounds reasonable but not the truth.

A while ago I received a video, the grandfather of one of our sisters, nearly ninety years old, the old man skinny, but quite strong. Then she made a video of her grandfather and sent it to me. Dozens of stacks of RMB were placed there. I saw his grandfather pick up a stack of money and count it, one, two, three, after counting it, put it back and pick up another stack of money and count it again. Renminbi is crisp, and counting money is crisp too. You have to be careful, you have to know that when I see this kind of situation, I tell you, it is not far from Alzheimer's disease!

Some time ago I went to visit my friend, and he brought his ninety-year-old father-in-law. He said: My father-in-law has Alzheimer's disease, he doesn't recognize people anymore, can you fix him up, talk to him, tidy him up? Well, that is what I do. I said: Does your father-in-law love money? He said: Does not love money. I said: Does not love money, that's wrong. According to my theory, people with Alzheimer's definitely love money. Then the old man, after he came and saw me, he widened his eyes and tried to beat me. This old man was very strong, grabbed my arm and tried to rip me apart. Because I specialize in treating Alzheimer's, the ghost of Alzheimer's came, how could he not recognize me? This old man's son and daughter also came with him, and they told me that his father used to count money at home every day two years ago. Look, does that match? It matches!

Ah, I was so emotional! Why? The reason is very simple, people live for money, and he wants to live hard. His logic is what? He has to work hard to live, he has to have money. So he counts money. As he counts, he becomes confused and can't count. Finally, he has Alzheimer's disease. If you see an old man counting money, it's probably just a short distance from Alzheimer's disease. He will soon not recognize people. Can you all be clear in your mind today? If your mind is still not clear today, it is in vain to listen to what I have said. Why? Money is important. When you get old, it will be a long trouble. You will start counting money, which is good, because you don't know anything, and you don't recognize anyone, so you don't have to protect your rights even if someone bullies you.

I think when people are young they should study hard, learn a set of theories, and this set of theories can prevent us from entering a state where we don't know anything when we are old. If you don't know anything, where is the dignity? There is no dignity! Whatever you learn, you must first learn the theory, and without the support of the theory, it is a tragedy, just do it blindly! Are there any young people present? Young people have many theories, what theories? All theories patted out of the head, ignorant prophets and even a theory those church pastors that I meet they mostly love money. People certainly won't tell you: I love money very much. Can you say that? People will say: I'm not greedy, what I love, I focus on preaching the word of God. Right? That’s how they talk!

Whatever you learn, you must learn it theoretically, without the support of theory, it is blind work. How much of the Chinese Mingding Destiny theory have you received today? Some people agree, some people disagree. For example, young children, especially girls. She said: I want to find a job in the future, I want to be a school teacher. I said: School teachers earn very little. She said: It doesn't matter, because many rich people want to marry a teacher to their son. See this logic, just want to do this. Why? How can I live without money? It is better to eat chicken legs than to eat steamed buns. Is this logic correct? Many people say: What's wrong with that? Then you can just do so-called go for it. Got it?

In fact, whatever you learn is learning a set of theories, learning a set of rules. Programming is a set of programming theories, programming rules, carpentry is learning a set of carpentry theories, carpentry rules. No theory is blind work and the understanding of theory is understanding. If you think what I am saying is right, chew on it slowly. I may not necessarily say it so accurately as I am still exploring. Knowing the truth is called understanding, and understanding the truth of God is called understanding. Balaam, who I am talking about today, clearly knows God, that is he is a money-loving and greedy prophet he got himself miserable! Died under the swords of Israelites, died in the camps of Midianites. Foolish! Isn't it good to live well? I have to pull so hard! For what? Men die for wealth, and birds die for food! Even if he is a prophet, he cannot escape the fate of greed. The theoretical level of an ignorant prophet is low, so low as to reach the bottom!

Without theory, there is only feeling. If the feel is good, it is useless. Whatever has to be figured out? If you figure it out, you will die in the camp of Midian, so forget it, don't go there! Everyone is like this, in the beginning things were calculated pretty well, the results are so bad. Is the calculation wrong? Calculation wrong! The theory is wrong, the logic system is wrong, and the result is bad. So today our brothers and sisters must know, what exactly is your theory? If your theory is similar to Balaam's logic, then leave it alone, just walk slowly, no need to look to both sides, keep going forward, you will definitely melt in the blue sky! Did everyone understand? If the theory is wrong, the result will be wrong this sentence must sink into your mind. How do you correct the theory? People live by every word that comes from the mouth of God, how to live without God?

II. Scripture

The elders of Moab and Midian left, taking with them the pay for divination. When they came to Balaam, they told him what Balak had said. “Spend the night here,” Balaam said, “and I will bring you back the answer the Lord gives me.” So the Moabite officials stayed with him. Then God came to Balaam and asked, “Who are these men with you?” Balaam said to God, “Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent them to me. ‘A people that has come out of Egypt covers the face of the land. Now come and put a curse on them for me. Then maybe I’ll be able to fight them and drive them away.’” But God said to Balaam, “You must not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed.” The next morning Balaam got up and said to Balak’s officials, “Go back to your own country, for the Lord has refused to let me go with you.” (Numbers 22:7-13)

III. Prayer

God, today, let us deeply learn a lesson, let us come out of the foolish logical system, let us live by Your words. God, today You are my everything, I will live for You today. God, today, break the foolish logical system in me, those that are not pleasing to You. God, may You help me, completely remove these foolish things, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

IV. Scripture Background

The background of this passage is very interesting. The Israelites came out of Egypt, and no matter who they encountered in the wilderness, they crushed everything! They were invincible from the exodus from Egypt to the wilderness, very powerful! Just think, three million people, do you know how many people that is today? A vast expanse that can cover three hundred square kilometers. As a result, Balak, the son of the King of Moab, trembled in his heart when he saw this situation. He thought to himself: This guy is going to destroy me as soon as he comes over. Three and a half thousand years ago, three million people flooded and engulfed everything. Balak had some knowledge of the spiritual realm. He couldn't beat them, but he understood what is called blessing and what is called curse.

Balak said: If someone can curse them for me, they will not be able to beat me. Why? This group of people threatened the reign of King Balak of Moab. As a result, he sent people to inquire, and when he inquired, he found out about the prophet Balaam. This prophet Balaam is amazing! That is because Balaam’s fortune-telling relies on Jehovah God. You say: Relying on Jehovah God to tell fortunes? I think our God is very humorous, he tells fortunes too. Why call it fortune-telling? Because for fortune-telling, you must give money to the prophet so he can tell you the future. That is setting up a fortune-telling stall, collecting fortune-telling money, fortune-telling money is called divination payment.

Balaam's fortune-telling stall was famous in that generation, and the calculations were all accurate! Today, if someone comes to tell fortunes, he can get fifty; tomorrow, if someone comes to tell fortunes, he gets three hundred, just like that. In fact, he lived a very tight life and was short of money. Suddenly, he has a big business, King Balak comes to Balaam with money as divination payment, Balaam have never seen so much money before. As a result, he saw that this project was quite good! As a result, he said to Balak: Tonight I will ask God give you a calculation, do something. What did people want him to do? Going to King Balak of Moab to curse Israel. For this job, the upper and lower lips moved, and he had a basket of gold, which was great and powerful!

Balaam thought: I have never seen so much money in so many years of fortune-telling, God, thank You, thank You for finally giving me a big deal, God’s blessings have arrived, and a big job has come. Is that a big job? As a result, God said at night: You can't go. Balaam thought: Oh, it is clear that You bless my. Don't go? Then don't go. This order is so good, why not accept it? God why are You so stupid? Is God stupid? He felt uncomfortable. Why? Because God blocked his way of making money. He fell love deeps into the money and died in the money holes. As a result, he got up the next morning and said to Balak: You could go back to your home because the Lord God would not allow me to go back with you.

Balaam got up in the morning and said to Balak’s officials, “Go back to your own country, for the Lord has refused to let me go with you.” (Numbers 22:13)

As a result, those Balak’s officers sent a second group of people. China has Three Visits to the Thatched Cottage, the ancients had Three Visits to Balaam. They brought more money. The project has been increased!

Then Balak sent other officials, more numerous and more distinguished than the first. (Numbers 22:15)

Balaam thought: God, You are so good. When I have a contest with them, the price will double. God, Your idea is so good. I thank You. I now understand why You didn't let me go. Oh, great, this is an affirmation, what a good affirmation! Reasonable? Loving money people all do that. As a result, Balaam has settled these people. No matter big or small, we must not go beyond the will of You Lord God, but he felt that this project must be in accordance with God's will so he keep them stay the night. That night God came to Balaam and said, If these men call you, get up and go with them, but you must only do what I tell you.

That night God came to Balaam and said, “If these men have come to call you, get up and go with them, but do only what I tell you.” (Numbers 22:20)

Balaam was thinking: Thank God, that divination money will be mine. I'll buy a house for my son, one for my daughter-in-law, one for my wife, and take several more concubines. He had it all planned out in his mind, budget all done, thinking of buying a villa and a large flat. Our God is such a God, you can go if you want to. Did Balaam know whether God was pleased or not? He didn't care about that, not at all! His heart was consumed with it. God said: Go. Is that how it was? His mind was already made up, no more stopping him, lest they ruin his path to riches, determined to go! So he saddled his donkey, thinking: Riding a donkey is so embarrassing, compared to the envoys sent by King Balak, they ride horses, he rides a donkey. In his heart he thought: God, in all these years I've been a prophet of the Lord, you've treated me unfairly, why are you only sending money now? See how this man is agitated. Later he began to be conflicted, his mind filled with thoughts of BMWs, Mercedes, BYD, new energy vehicles. As a result, he hadn't gone far on the donkey when the donkey turned aside. Do you understand what it means to turn aside? It means the donkey squeezed this way and that way, not listening to commands. Balaam then beat the donkey hard, and as a result, the donkey spoke, and God opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw an angel with a sword. If the donkey hadn't dodged the sword, Balaam would have had his head chopped off by the angel with the sword.

The angel of the Lord asked him, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me. The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If it had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared it.” Balaam said to the angel of the Lord, “I have sinned; I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back.” (Numbers 22:32-34)

Balaam's heart was not in this matter, still talking to God, quickly go back, stop this nonsense! As a result, God said: Go with these men! Could he go? I've met many preachers who do the same thing, saying that God told them to go. Could they go? Their hearts are consumed with it, must they go? As a result, in Numbers chapter 23 and 24, Balaam built altars to curse the Israelites, and when God's word came upon him, he made up a lot of stories. As a result, in chapter 24:

Then Balaam got up and returned home, and Balak went his own way. (Numbers 24:25 NIV)

As a result, the project was not completed, the money was not earned, and Balaam returned home. He was saddened in his heart, after all the trouble, he got nothing, the divination money was taken back, because he did not deliver the work he was asked to do, God blocked his path to wealth. When he went, he was full of vigor, his mind filled with thoughts of large flats, villas, BMWs, but in the end, nothing. How could he be content? Did you think he really went back? He didn't really go back, as he walked, he went back to Balak's camp, giving Balak a very bad idea, which was actually cursing Israel. Then God was angry with the Israelites, and many people died, and the prophet became a traitor. Later, when the Israelites killed the Midianites, Balaam was also killed in it, dying by the sword of Israel. If Balaam really knew that his death was not far away, with only about a dozen months of life left, what would he do with so much money? What a tragedy! Many people think they are not Balaam, but they are. Know that there is a sentence in here:

Balaam answered Balak’s officials, “Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the Lord my God. (Numbers 22:18)

Is that what he said? No! People, have a spiritual appearance, but lack spiritual essence! This is the background of this passage.

V. What Does Balaam Live On

Know what Balaam lives on? Balaam lives by divination, taking divination money. Did he obtain divination himself? No, he obtained it by asking God. He asked God, and God gave him a revelation, and then he charged money for it. This job is so good. But as he collected it, he felt that the money was too little. Why? Felt that the house was not big enough. In his heart, he thought: Look, the gatehouse next door has been built, with courtyards with four, five, or six wings. Alas, his heart was sad, that is, the theoretical foundation had a problem. Balaam lives by divination, taking divination money, living very hard, his heart loves money and still thinks he is serving God. In fact, there are really many such people, very hardworking. But in his heart, he still says: Even if you give me a house full of gold and silver, I will still say according to God's word.

Balaam answered Balak’s officials, “Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the Lord my God. (Numbers 22:18)

Balaam speaks according to God's word, but his heart has already entered the money pit. So brothers and sisters, do you know? Balaam's foolishness is because his heart belongs to money, and his mouth still says he despises money. What do people live on? What do you live on in the end? This is a very deep and difficult question. I advise you not to rely on anything! But if there is not enough money, is relying on God effective? It is difficult, this is the theory. Some people want to live well, but they are ruined. Some people want to live well, I also want to live well, I also say so, but my foundation is: I don't care about living. Isn't that easier? What do I care about? I care about whether I can die sooner. Do you say I need money?

Why do people with Alzheimer's count money all day long? Because they want to live, they think they can live only if they have money. Look at this theory, can you live if you have money? You can't necessarily live if you have money. So everyone knows, the more people try to live, the more tangled they are in their hearts: Alas, my son is going to college, taking this exam, taking that exam. Why? Trying very hard to live. As a result, if the son does not do well in the exam, the heart is sad, that is, the logic system has a problem. Are there any of us who have children taking college entrance exams? Yes, they always care about this matter. They think: How can they live without going to college? There are also many people who go to college and become useless. Think about it in your heart, then take the exam, whatever the result is, and the result is quite good in the exam, where can this be explained!

So what do people live on? You say: I live by God. You live by God, Balaam also lives by God, but Balaam's heart is filled with money, or this life's affairs, so this life and eternal life are a contradiction. Some people consider retirement and so on, all they consider is living. What's the use of you considering these? Today I will pour a bucket of cold water on you, it's useless to consider them, it's better to consider death, considering death, ah, you can understand life, not afraid of death, what else is there to be afraid of? Like me: I'm not even afraid of death, can I still be afraid of the dead? I don't care about my own death, can I care about your death? I don't care about your death either. Then I don't care about you when you are alive, can I care about you after you die? Look at my logic.

Some people say: Teacher, I'm going to die. I say: Going to die, ah, good ah. He says: Ah, why do you say that? I say: If you die, nothing will happen, you don't have to pay for water and electricity, the rent is also waived, and you will rest from all the toil of the world. Some people are unwilling, what to do if they are unwilling? They have to live like this even if they are unwilling. So regarding the matter of what people live on, do people have to live struggling and hard? If people want to live hard, then it's over; if you want to die hard, then the problem is solved, and living will be very easy. Some people say: What you say is very difficult. What Jesus said is also very difficult. The beginning of foolishness is in this, people want to live well, but they don't live well. The Bible has a sentence long ago:

For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. (Matthew 16:25)

How well this is said! This is my theory.

VI. Balaam's Reaction to the Divination Money

Balaam's heart is already on the divination money, because he says:

Balaam answered Balak’s officials, “Even if Balak gave me his palace filled with silver and gold, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the Lord my God. (Numbers 22:18)

Everyone should read carefully, there is a deep problem in this sentence. Look: Oh, if you do this, I don't care. In fact, he cares. People who really don't care don't have this sentence at all, he is fine, can he care, can he say this? This reaction is too foolish. When Balak heard this sentence: This person loves money, there is an opportunity. Balaam's reaction to the divination money is that he is already calculating in his heart, but he says he does not love money. People who really don't love money really don't say that they don't love money. Some people say: Teacher, you said it before. That was when I loved money, I don't say it now, don't think that I have always been good, there is no such thing. So we know Balaam's inner logic: A big project comes and he thinks this project is really good, thank God. In his heart, he just loves money. So today we should know, why did Balaam later return to Balak? Because The root of evil is in the love of money!

VII. Balaam's Inner Struggle

Balaam has a set of theories inside: I have to live hard, I also have courtyards with four, five, or six wings. I also want to repair our family's gatehouse, but there is no money; I want to add another floor to our family's house, and build the courtyard in front of the door again, but there is also no money. He even forgot about the illegal construction, that is an illegal building! His mind is filled with this, why? Because these things are very important to him. He feels that this place should be in accordance with God's will, and he should do according to God's word, and there is a lot of struggle inside. Are there any struggles among us today? Yes. Once there is a struggle, it is ruined, that is, wanting to be a prostitute and also wanting to erect a memorial archway! Because the logic system inside has a problem.

Look at this logic, his son is getting older and wants to get married, but there is no money, no house, so he has to get a house for his son. His son is in Beijing, how can he buy it, sell everything to buy a house? Then how can he get married without a house? This is Balaam's idea. Without a house, just put two pillows together and live together, it's very simple, why do you have to get a house? Balaam thought: That's not possible, then the daughter-in-law will not marry, it will not solve the problem! So the more seriously people live, the more problems there are, can there be no struggle inside? Some people can't understand what I said, why can't they understand? Because the things you care about, I say are not important; the things you don't care about, I say are very important. It's over in an instant!

Jesus said long ago that people are hung up by the things of the world, it is not that they don't want to accept God's way, but when faced with God's way and these things of the world, they still feel that the things of the world are very important, real money is still very important, although money is not omnipotent, but it is impossible to do anything without money.
