Introduction

A pastor I know got cancer. The doctor told him that if he chose chemotherapy, there would be a 40% chance of recurrence; if he did not have chemotherapy, there would be a 60% chance of recurrence. As a result, this pastor prayed desperately at home: God, should I go for chemotherapy or not? Oh, what a dilemma!

I was wondering, how should our God respond? God sits on His throne, hearing one of His people pray: God, should I go for chemotherapy or not? What would God think? God calculated that it's roughly a 40% versus 60% difference. The 40% and 60% difference is not the key, what is key is, do you know that our God is the best doctor?

Our God's view of illness is completely different from our human view of illness. The healing effect of our God on diseases is simply miraculous. All who came to Jesus were healed. Whether you believe well or not, it doesn't matter. As long as you actively go to Jesus, you will be healed.

But a pastor who shepherds God's flock comes to God and asks: Should I go for chemotherapy, or not? Oh, I was thinking, if I were God, hearing someone pray like this, it would be really sad. Why? Because this is not knowing God! For our God is a God of great power.

If you knew that God is the greatest doctor, how could you say: God! You are the greatest doctor, but, I want this lousy doctor to help me treat me. What do you say? What is this called? I think the problem lies in the wisdom of God and the foolishness of men. So, the topic I want to talk to you about is The Wisdom of God and the Foolishness of Men.

The Gospel We Believe Is a Great and Powerful Gospel

What is the example I just gave? It is whether the gospel we believe in is a powerful gospel. I tell you, I absolutely believe it. I am a very careful reader of the Bible. After reading it, I come to this conclusion. If you go with me to read the Bible carefully, you will also come to a conclusion. What is this conclusion? Our God is a healing God!

The Bible says so too. So, this is a critical matter. That is, until today, there are still two forces constantly competing in the church. One that makes the church lose its power, and another that restores the church's power. In fact, this kind of struggle has not only existed today, but since the time of Moses.

The struggle in the time of Moses was also very fierce. Why? Because he sent 12 spies, one from each tribe, a leader with a lot of influence in his tribe. These 12 spies went to the land of Canaan to see how the place was. When they came back, they said: The land is indeed a land flowing with milk and honey. But there is a problem, what problem is there? That is, there are giants living in that place. We can't go in. If we go in, we are just going to die.

What was the result? Two of the spies, Joshua and Caleb, said: No! We will definitely be victorious! As a result, the two factions began to argue. The focus of the debate was whether they could win! In fact, today, among many Christian believers, or even among pastors, the focus of the debate is whether our faith still has power.

In fact, when such a debate began in the time of Moses, it was very strange. They thought that going into the land of Canaan would mean death. Then Joshua and Caleb said: No, we can definitely beat them, because God will surely give us victory.

What was the result of the debate? The other 10 spies wanted to stone Joshua and Caleb to death. Alas, this is a very strange cycle! Joshua and Caleb could kill the giants in the land of Canaan, the giants in the land of Canaan could kill these 10 spies, and these 10 spies wanted to kill Joshua and Caleb. What kind of cycle is this?

Some time ago, I met a pastor who shared a saying with me. What did he say? The Christians of today are not good at casting out demons, but they are very good at casting out pastors. This sounds very interesting. So, the things that make the church lose its power began from the time of Moses, and even from the time of Adam and Eve. Until the time of Jesus Christ, those Pharisees who served God in the temple saw God incarnated among them, full of grace and full of power, and their whole bodies manifested the glory of God. What was the result? They nailed Jesus to the cross! I am really surprised.

That is to say, from the time of Jesus to the time of Paul, they have been arguing about one thing, that is, the wisdom of men and the power of God! This kind of competition has never stopped. Since 1900, the Holy Spirit began to descend on a large scale, and as a result, many denominations were created. What was the result? The powerless churches tried their best to criticize the powerful churches. I also feel very surprised! Why not be like Jesus, but criticize those who are like Jesus?

Many people say they believe the Bible, but to what extent do they believe the Bible? When they get sick, they feel that they need to find a doctor, and they struggle with whether to have chemotherapy or surgery. They ask: God, give me a good doctor! I have never seen such a prayer in the Bible! I really haven't seen it. The Bible has never prayed like this either.

We thank God! God is constantly restoring His mighty works in our church. It started from our belief in God's word. Brothers and sisters must know that signs and wonders will follow those who believe. Those who are not followed by signs and wonders, and struggle with chemotherapy or not, what kind of faith do they have? They do not believe in God's word in the Bible. And the God they believe in is the word of God written on paper. Their logical system is really strange.

God is constantly manifesting His power among us. The testimonies that brothers and sisters hear among us are actually just the tip of the iceberg. There are so many testimonies among us! I encourage the brothers and sisters among us who have not yet been followed by signs and wonders, no matter how much you have read the word of God, even if you recite the Book of Romans fluently, it is useless. You must start putting this word into practice so that your faith can truly release the power of God.

We must start promoting a movement to desire to be like Jesus. If we look in the mirror and pat our chests, do we look like Jesus? It's not about dyeing your hair yellow, then leaving a half-length shawl, and then putting on a big yellow robe, and then putting on the kind of grass shoes that Jesus wore. It's actually useless to dress up to look like Jesus. The key is whether we have the blood of Jesus Christ in our bones.

Do we have faith like Abraham in our bones? Believe that God can raise people from the dead. I thank God! When we begin to walk the path of faith and practice God's word, I tell you, God's promises in Jesus Christ, no matter how many there are, are faithful! This is not just what we say, but what we really live out. The benefits we receive are so great!

What kind of generation is this today? This is a generation in which God is restoring His truth in His church. God is restoring His power in His church. I really thank God that God is so with us and manifests His glory. This is simply amazing!

There is a tragedy in the world called unbelief. What chemotherapy or not, the key is whether we believe. If we believe that God is the God who heals us, I tell you, many people will challenge me when I say this. Doesn't God heal us through the hands of doctors? Anyway, I haven't seen it in the Bible.

If you want to challenge, don't challenge me, go challenge the Bible, go challenge God. I have never seen Jesus do healing release with a large group of doctors. Jesus just released people from the bondage of disease with one sentence. Why? Because diseases are closely related to evil spirits.

But we know that our Jesus Christ is God incarnate. What he did for us is to release the captives and heal the sick. I see that our God is such a God. So, unbelief is a tragedy. Unbelief in God's word and unbelief in God's promises has always been a problem.

I have written a book, Unbelief Is the Root of Human Problems. So, brothers and sisters, what is the problem? It's not unbelief when you get cancer, but unbelief that started a long time ago. Whether you are a pastor or a Christian, if you do not believe in God's word, what are you doing? Today, brothers and sisters must know that being a pastor is a high-risk industry, and believing in the Lord is a high-risk faith.

Reading God's word but not believing it, and turning this powerful gospel into a powerless gospel, is itself a curse. Brothers and sisters, reflect on yourselves. There is a brother among us whose ex-wife died of cancer. Seeing his loved one struggling with cancer, what a tragedy it was.

At that time, he did not not believe in the Lord. He was a believer, but he believed in a powerless gospel. Later, he met me and began to carefully examine the Bible. But after carefully examining the Bible, our deeply rooted worldly logical system is still there. So, among us, no matter how many worldly value systems you have, you must start to deal with them. That is not being indebted to God, that is mistreating yourself. Wordly value systems are very harmful!

Some people say: At home, rely on your parents; outside, rely on your friends. But in my observation, I have found that among the Chinese overseas, those who deceive them are their friends. It is difficult for people on the street to deceive them.

Last night, a sister called me, inexplicably depressed, self-pitying, and with a lot of problems. In the process of ministering to her, she said that she understood why her father got lung cancer. Her father got lung cancer and died when she was in elementary school. Before getting lung cancer, he smoked heavily. She was uncomfortable inside! This sister said: My current feeling is the feeling my father had at that time. What is that if it isn't an evil spirit? I thank God that we can deal with this lung cancer evil spirit among us.

So, people are easily deceived. This sister has been a believer for a long time, not just a day or two. She still fell into the devil's lies. So, brothers and sisters, why are people so easily deceived? It is this worldly value system! This worldly value system sounds good, but it is just human wisdom. It has no power at the critical moment. What is the use of a wisdom without power? Actually, it is of no use.

Scripture

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.(《1 Corinthians》 1:18-25 )

Prayer

God, add the power and wisdom of Jesus Christ to us, speak to us among us, let us know how to deal with this worldly value system. Let the gospel that every one of our brothers and sisters believes be a powerful gospel. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray! Amen!

Scripture Background

What is the background of Paul writing 1 Corinthians? When Paul came to Corinth, he established a church there and served for a year and a half. After that, Paul went on to the next stop. Not long after he left, a group of eloquent Christians, who preached well, deceived the brothers and sisters of the Corinthian church. They deceived them to the point that they felt that what Paul said was wrong, and that what Paul preached was no good!

As a result, Paul heard about it. Think about it, he stayed there for a year and a half. And he didn't use, didn't take a sandal strap, a thread, or a needle from them. He didn't take advantage of them in any way; he supported himself. Paul is amazing. He has no problem with his own ability to make a living! I don't know what was going on in those people's heads that they said Paul took advantage of them.

Paul wrote a letter in tears, persuading them, and wrote 1 Corinthians. Why? Because the focus of the dispute was that some people were eloquent and good at speaking! But what Paul said was that the message of the cross is the power of Jesus Christ! Do you really think Paul cares about this? He has been rejected so many times that he doesn't care about it.

But the one thing Paul cares about is that the powerful gospel cannot be replaced by powerless words! So, brothers and sisters, Paul's gospel is only one, that is, the powerful gospel! Actually, this is not difficult to understand. Jesus Christ is a powerful person. What did Jesus Christ show us when he came into the world? Jesus Christ is full of grace and full of power.

If you are a Christian but you are not like Jesus, are you a Christian? Is that true faith? I thank God that Paul wrote 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, and Colossians. In Paul's words, he eloquently preached the powerful gospel of God, the pure gospel is really in this Bible!

So, Paul wrote this letter to begin to correct the Corinthians, the church there, to replace this powerful gospel with a set of worldly value systems. What happened later? The people of the Corinthian church turned back and accepted Paul's gospel.

This struggle is still continuing today, and I thank God! God has raised us up to restore the pure gospel that He spoke through Paul.

Why Were the Corinthians Easily Deceived?

Later, I pondered this matter. I found that people are naturally fond of wise people and naturally like to hear good words. Paul wrote a letter, directly addressing this issue. Why? God will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of the intelligent. (See 1 Corinthians 1:19)

The wisdom of the wise of this world is very deadly. I have found that once people like something and it suits their taste, you will definitely be deceived. Why? Because the logical system of God is not so palatable to us. The logical system of God makes us sound like it makes no sense. Many people in the world think that God's道理(doctrine) is foolish, but we who are saved believe that it is the power of God.

God makes the wisdom of the world foolish so that He may save those who believe in Him. But worldly value systems make people only focus on worldly things. As a result, many people consider whether or not to have chemotherapy when they get cancer, but those who care about spiritual things do not have these problems.

Wordly value systems are deadly. Wordly value systems focus on worldly things and physical things. But the problem comes when the critical moment arrives, when you get cancer, you call to heaven but it doesn't respond, you call to earth but it doesn't listen, and you scream there.

What do we people believe in today? It is worth our reflection. People's vision is short-sighted. I often meet some people. I release them from the bondage of demons, and they are also grateful that they have been healed. What happens after they are healed?

I ask: What if the problem comes back? They say, It won't, will it! I say, How do you know it won't? They say, It shouldn't, right!

Their vision is too short-sighted. So, brothers and sisters, start to carefully consider one thing: Why are the Corinthians so easily deceived? What is the result of being deceived? It is deviating from the true way. You have to be responsible for your choices. If our hearts are focused on worldly and carnal things, I can boldly make a prophecy to you. How badly the devil tormented you in the past, how badly the devil will torment you now and in the future. Who is to blame? You have deviated from the pure gospel, haven't you?

So, if your eyes are all fixed on the seventy or eighty years of life, you are in trouble! A few days ago, I ministered to a sister who talked only about worldly things, all about petty things!

I asked her what the essence of the problem was. It was that she placed too much importance on things that should not be valued, and did not value what should be valued. Today, brothers and sisters, let's lengthen our vision. Why do people take those things so seriously? To the point that they are almost mentally ill, almost depressed, and still insist on these things? It is because their vision is too short-sighted.

These things will pass. When you close your eyes and kick your legs, even if the world has not passed, it has already passed for you. So, don't have such a short vision. I'm telling you, if people have too short a vision, all small things will become big things, and all the problems that should not be tangled will make you tangle.

So, let's start to lengthen our vision. Don't talk about anything else; just think about someone who lived 500 years ago, but who cares about them today? Isn't that right? So, what happened to that person 1,000 years ago? Nothing happened. But when people are alive, they take those things so seriously, they are so tangled, they toss and turn, and they still think they have done a great thing, but they make their lives miserable.

The Message of the Cross, to Those Who Believe, Is the Power of God

Brothers and sisters, you must know that the gospel that Paul preached is a powerful gospel. Even when Paul was imprisoned and stranded on a small island, the island chief's father got a fever, but Paul touched him and he was healed. I think such people are so good! I encourage all of us to crave to live out the power of God!

The power of God is not just a talk. I have said this many times. If you hear it repeated, it doesn't matter. After it is repeated, are you able to carry the power of God? Whether you have the appearance of Jesus Christ is the key. If you don't, listen carefully. Listen carefully.

My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. (《1 Corinthians》 2:4-5)

When I preach, I usually tell a lot of testimonies, a lot of stories. For example, scoliosis of 38 degrees, that is simply too difficult for doctors, but for us, a very small brother or sister can kill that evil spirit.

Why? Because we are a people of God's power. Because the gospel we preach is not wise and persuasive words, but a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that the faith of our brothers and sisters may not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.

Many people want to come to me to learn. What do they want to learn? They always want to learn a method. Actually, this is not a method; this is a very fundamental thing. Those who trust in God will not be put to shame. God is our power; God is the answer to all problems. If we trust in God, look at the scoliosis that was easily solved through prayer, but it is so difficult in the hands of doctors. If doctors could solve it, she wouldn't have come to me.

So, brothers and sisters, ask a question: What is our church built on? What is our faith built on? Are we built on human wisdom or on God's wisdom? Human wisdom is considered foolish by God, and God's wisdom is considered foolish by people. Do you understand?

It is really deadly today. When some pastors come to me to learn, I tell them: If you really want to change, it is very challenging, because those things you have built will be torn down. I have torn them down several times. Do you dare to tear them down? If you mess with it for a while, and then the number of people in the church decreases drastically, are you willing to do such a thing? Many people dare not!

Why don't they dare? They think that building a church requires people, and money! If there are no people, where does the offering come from? Isn't that right? So, brothers and sisters, can we start to think about one thing, to know for sure in Jesus Christ that even if no one follows me, we must still adhere to the pure gospel! This gospel is what Paul revealed in Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Colossians, and Ephesians. In summary, it is to be like Jesus. If you believe, nothing will collapse! Even if people leave, we can still move forward.

Brothers and sisters, do you know that people like those who speak with their mouths? Paul's competitor was deception. The Corinthians had a fatal flaw: These people only talked and did not do. So, you have to be careful. If the pastors you meet only talk and do not do, that is deadly. That is probably deception.

So, Paul said this in the fourth chapter of 1 Corinthians:

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. (《1 Corinthians 》4:19-20)

Do you understand? Paul directly challenged them: Show me. Isn't that right? It's useless to just talk nicely. Can the presence of God be manifested through your hands? Can you manifest the presence of God through your work?

The Spiritual Man Judges All Things

Looking at things with worldly principles will truly make one's head spin. Take bipolar disorder, for example. After hearing this term, you become dizzy, not knowing what it is. In reality, it is just a demon. Wouldn't it be good to drive the demon away? Right?

Some pastors say to me: Why can't I see demons? My words are harsh, spiritual blind men, what can you see? Know that the spiritual man judges all things. If you believe in Jesus but still cannot see through many things, what you need to read most is the Book of Ecclesiastes.

The highest wisdom is to see clearly that living is a very simple matter. Life is vanity of vanities. If you see through this, will you still be bound by these things? If a child does not study well, what is the problem? A spiritual problem! If a child has physical problems, like scoliosis, it is also a spiritual problem! Cancer, still a spiritual problem. Heart disease, Alzheimer's, all spiritual problems! Finances are also a spiritual problem; all things are spiritual! As long as it is related to human life, it is a spiritual matter!

Life is a spiritual matter, death is a spiritual matter. If one can see through all things and be a spiritual person, then living is such a simple matter! Living is a very, very simple matter. How good it is to have God! I am also surprised that some people, as they believe in the Lord, turn a powerful gospel into a powerless one. Why? Because their minds are filled with worldly value systems.

I have to have a job to live. If I don't have a job, where will the money for my child's milk powder come from? Is milk powder still a problem for those of us who trust in God? Isn't it? Some time ago, someone left a message for me on the website. I said that living should be God-centered, putting God first in life. Then he asked me a lot of questions!

Telling me about abandoning my wife and children... whether to have children... just a lot of things. I said: Are you a victim or something? With such a strong worldly value system, how can you not be dizzy when you look at everything? Close up, blurry; far away, dizzy! That's roughly the idea!

It turns out that if a person is not spiritual, he cannot see through anything! For example, some people love their families very much and prepare this and that for them. If they have money, officials send their children abroad, give them money, and tell them to do well outside. If I get caught one day, you can still live well!

I wonder, what kind of mind is this? This kind of thing is very common! They just can't see through it! If you see through this world's affairs and look down on them, would you do this? Anyway, I don't think I would. Living is a very simple matter, isn't it? How much money do people need to live? What do you need so much money for?

Recently, I saw a lot of news about Jingdong on the Internet. I opened a video and watched it. Our Dong Ge said something very seriously. After listening to it, I thought it was very interesting, so I'll repeat it for everyone. He said: Having money makes you the boss! This sounds quite practical, doesn't it? See, with money, you can buy big houses and good cars...

He uses this to motivate people, but the problem is, let's carefully observe those rich people, how do they actually live? Then we slowly observe carefully, and whatever conclusions you can draw, you draw them. But as for me, I know that living is a very simple matter. We must see through money, see through life and death, and see through what it means to live.

So, brothers and sisters, let's start thinking about it. I wrote the second edition of the Ecclesiastes Bible study, called Recognizing the Vanity of Life. It's not that recognizing the vanity of life means we should jump off a building, but recognizing the vanity of life allows us to live out God's glory! I also wrote 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians, and the title of the book is The Spiritual Man Judges All Things, which is a very interesting book.

The spiritual man clearly understands how the spiritual realm manipulates our lives. Living is just a shadow in the spiritual realm. How the spiritual realm directs your life is how your life will be. But if we rely on Jesus Christ, we have authority in the spiritual realm. What you say counts in the spiritual realm. You have a name in the spiritual realm, and demons fear your name! Because you are a disciple of Jesus Christ!

I tell you, it is really too difficult to live poorly, but we are not here to live well in this world, we are here to live out God's glorious image in this world!

So you must know that being a spiritual person and having authority in the spiritual realm is precisely the doctrine of the cross, which is the power of God to those who are saved. If you fight demons in the spiritual realm, I tell you, it is so real, incredibly real. I can't even tell you, that's the essence! How can people solve problems if they don't grasp the essence? Isn't it? That is to say, people live in a daze because they don't grasp the essence.

That is to say, we must be spiritual people, and the most deadly thing is to deal with this worldly value system! The worldly value system is very interesting. The worldly value system is based on all the things we can see and touch, forming a complete logical system.

According to the world's values, having money makes you the boss! But what happens in the end? The rich don't become the boss in the end! What do they become? Who knows! So we must know, just be a spiritual person! Directly opposed to the spiritual logical system is the worldly value system.

So Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians:

Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? (1 Corinthians 3:1-3)

Acting like mere humans, what does this mean? We must know that if you are a Christian, but you only drink milk every day, don't blame others for deceiving and fooling you! If you are always a milk-drinker, a carnal person with a strong worldly value system, you cannot live well. You will spend your days in strife, lawsuits, and all kinds of chaos.

One of our children had scoliosis of 38 degrees. When I was praying for her, I sensed a very strong worldly value system in her. She was jealous of her younger brother, resulting in scoliosis of 38 degrees, which is very painful. If it continues, it will be fatal! I said, Are you very hurt inside? She immediately began to cry.

She said: Very hurt. Why? Because she was jealous that her mother was too good to her younger brother. What was the result? Scoliosis! You say, how foolish is this? Isn't it? Were you lacking food? No. Were you lacking drink? No. It was just seeing her younger brother often sick, and her mother was very good to him, so she became jealous.

Because of a worldly value system, a person did something very corrupt, resulting in scoliosis. Later, after praying and adjusting these concepts for her, her spine straightened. Then what? She returned to the worldly value system, and her spine curved again, and she came back to us. You know how deeply this worldly value system harms people!

Why do you have to be jealous? Why do you have to quarrel? Why do you have to indulge in carnal desires? I'm not talking about this person, many others are like this. Why do you have to be sexually immoral? Why do you have to sue? Why do you have to get married? Many people expect a happy marriage, but when they enter marriage, they find many problems, such as infidelity and domestic violence, which is really fatal!

Some time ago, a sister came to see me. Why? Because she had cancer. After praying with me, she improved substantially. She came a long way to see me, so I invited her to dinner. When she sat across from me, I immediately had a word of revelation from God. I told her, You still have to change! If you don't change what's inside you, it will be very troublesome!

As a result, after she returned home, she disappeared, not even coming to church anymore, as if I needed her to come to church. So I removed her. Why should I serve such a person, treating me like what?

This sister then traveled around, and when I scrolled through my Moments, I saw all kinds of photos she took, posing in various poses, under this tree, under that flower, having so much fun! Some people think, I have to travel the world. I can't live in vain before I die. I have to travel the world while I'm alive. How foolish!

Not long after, the cancer recurred. As for whether she lived or died, I don't know! If you ask me, it's probably hopeless! I wonder why this person has to do this? Because there is a strong worldly value system inside.

For example, a sister has bipolar disorder, which is actually being possessed by a demon. When our brother was ministering to her, he first mentioned the issue of money and tested her attitude towards offering. As a result, she said: No, I have to have money to live! Offering is out of the question! You already have bipolar disorder, and you still hold on to strong worldly values. What will happen in the future?

Many years ago, I ministered to a person who had a strange disease. She had a tumor on her stomach, which grew from the size of a fist to the size of a cauliflower in two months. She screamed in pain every night. We ministered to her, praying with her every night. When we prayed, the pain subsided. Then what? When she was about to get better, I said: Sister! You need to start learning to give! Her reaction was: I want to leave the church! The day after she left, I called her mother, who said: She passed away at five o'clock this morning.

Sometimes demons don't give you a chance, and God doesn't necessarily give you a chance. So we must all know the truth, which is foolish in the eyes of the world, but the power of God to those who are saved. Can you grasp the key? It would be good if you could grasp the key.

So we live in this world not by worldly logic. If we rely on worldly values, we will know sooner or later that this is not the way. We need to know one thing: people live by every word that comes from the mouth of God, not by the wisdom of the world! So, brothers and sisters, the words I say and the gospel I preach are not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith may not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.
