Introduction

Deuteronomy chapter 4 is very important as it consolidates the main objective of why Moses wrote this book. The main objective of this chapter is Knowing The Lord is your God!

If we carefully observe how people live around us, and their health conditions, we will be shocked at how "popular" cancer is. When I went back to my hometown to visit my friends, I found out that my classmates got cancer, and their in-laws got cancer. They all seemed to be nice people but that did not stop them from getting cancer.

I have been pondering this for a while and wonder what the causes are. I now know why and it can only be one reason: Know your God, and you obey the commands of Him, you may live! If you don't want to seek, don't want to follow the word of God, or disobey His commands even without knowing it, then cancer will come to you. This is a sad thing. Therefore, we must remember that the Lord is our God!

The Word of God Gives Us Wisdom

Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” (Deuteronomy 4:6)

The saddest thing is people don't know how to live, nor do they observe how to live, they live the way they want. The most enjoyable thing I want to share with people is that since I was 18, I already found life boring, then I started seeking the meaning of life. After ten years, I finally found God and knew the word of God gave us wisdom and understanding. We should not have lived our life the way we perceived. It's such a tragedy when you don't know how to live your life, but you also don't want to seek it.

I’m very grateful that things went smoothly since I was a child, many people suffered more hardship than me. Even so, I still wanted to seek the meaning of life. Those who suffered hardship on the other hand didn’t have the character to seek it. It’s very sad for me to see my friends who have seen the miracles I performed but still don’t want to believe. They just don’t want to seek the real meaning of life.

Once I went to see a friend who suffered from synovitis. I asked him if there were any devoted things in his house. He said he had one "pixiu", an auspicious creature for wealth. He got it for me and then I said, " What about the outer one?" He was surprised and asked how I knew it. I told him that I did. So he gave me a slightly bigger one in size. He thought "pixiu" could help him with winning his mahjong. One thing he did not know was it had also caused his knees to swell and limp. So I started praying for him, and only within a minute, his knees went back to normal. The pain disappeared.

In theory, you would believe in God after experiencing a such miracle, understanding the God I worship is powerful. No! The pain came back the day after because he wanted his "pixiu" back. It is such a tragedy if you don't know God is wisdom. He did not want to get rid of his "pixiu", but instead, he wanted to go to get some Chinese herbs.

We must know that we will have to be responsible for the consequence of disobeying the word of God. Only two things for us to bear in mind: Blessing and Curses! If you keep the commands from the Lord and follow them, you will be blessed, otherwise, you will be cursed! He will show us wisdom and how we should live!

My friends, however, had completely different points of view on life. The most important things for them in life were life and death. In a way, I did agree with them. But did they understand life and death? ** If you don't know the word of God, you won't understand life and death. As we don't have the wisdom to understand that. I told them that I studied life before death as well as life after death. There was nothing more important than the word of God! ** We aspire to be a victorious church, be smart to the word of God! The reason why we have come this far is that I am rigorous in the word of God.

The Word of God is a Complete System

Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you. (Deuteronomy 4:2)

It was almost 3500 years when Moses wrote the book of Deuteronomy, Isaiah also wrote the book of Isaiah 600 years after Moses, then Ezekiel added a book to it, too. Was there anything being added to it or subtracted from it? In our understanding, they must have done it! When it came to the New Testament, the Apostle Paul and John both added something to it. Did they add anything to it? Let me put you out of your misery. No! They did not add anything to it because they were within the same spiritual system of the Lord. But what is the spiritual system? ** The spiritual system is that we must know the Lord is our God, we live on every word that comes out of the mouth of the Lord! **

They did not add anything when what they said was within “every word that comes out of the mouth of the Lord”. This is the system of the Lord. How many churches nowadays actually have a system? Very few! It’s not difficult to build a system of the Lord. All you need to do is to summarize the main objectives of the Bible. This is the opposite of taking the Bible out of context. For example, most people would say the main objective of chapter 38 in the book of Genesis is the fall of Judah. I, however, believe it should be the Ming-Ding (destiny) of Tamar! So you know why? Because I understand it as how the Bible was written. Their understanding is called " adding to the commands of the Lord". What I understand is within the spiritual system of the Lord!

If you are a Chinese medical doctor, Huangdi Neijing will be your fundamental source of doctrine in Chinese medicine. You must be following the doctrine within that book. It says in the book that renal function controls bones in the body, and the liver controls tendons of the body. You may wonder what a kidney got to do with bones. What does the liver have to do with tendons? But in Chinese medicine, it's a complete system. In Western medicine, it has different branches of medicine, bone related problems go to orthopaedic, kidney related problems go to internal medicine departments. There is a vast difference between them. One focuses on how an entire body functions, whilst the other is dividing the body parts.

So, brothers and sisters, we must know the word of God is also a complete system. People believed if they knew the Nicene Creed inside out, then they were truly Christians. I rejected such logic. Even if you know the Apostle's Creed does not represent the entire system of the Lord. Neither one of the Creeds showed a complete understanding of the word of the Lord.

The word of God has a system, you cannot add to it or subtract from it! This was echoed by John when he wrote the book of Revelation. We can only substantiate this by referring back to the Bible.

Obey The Word of God

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. (Romans 1:16)

This is the word of God and we must follow it! It doesn’t matter what we do, it’s always best to build up an overall viewpoint. I'm very proud to tell people that I graduated from Beihang University and have served in Aviation for my country. If you want the airplane to fly, knowing Air Dynamics is a must, as well as every skill that is needed to build an airplane. This also applies to the outer layer of paint for the plane. Can you imagine the temperature of a hypersonic airplane? The temperature goes between 200 to 300 degree Celsius. We must have a breakthrough in both researching materials that withstand such high temperatures and the skills that we need to build the plane. This is a complete system. It won’t work if any of these processes collapse.

Following the commands of the Lord, you must first understand the overall system of the Lord. We must know: The Church is the Army of God, and only the Army of God can build the House of the Lord! Only when all demons are cast out, can we build the Kingdom of God! The Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of the Devil will never coexist! My brothers and sisters, a complete system means we must fight in the spiritual realm, we can only enter the promised land when we win the fight! You must wonder why many people have failed to reach the promise of God. The reason is very simple: they did not do as God commanded within the system.

A while ago, I was told by someone that he needed to earn a lot of money to feed preachers because they live in poverty. So he asked to pray for him to earn more money. I told him that there was no such thing recorded in the Bible. This is also a humiliation for our God as though He could not afford to keep us. It's because those poor preachers did not follow the commands of God.

See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the LORD my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it. Observe them carefully, for this will show your wisdom and understanding to the nations, who will hear about all these decrees and say, “Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.” (Deuteronomy 4:5-6)

Following the word of God is based upon the word of God and gives us wisdom. You will be great when you have wisdom. Therefore, if you follow the word of God, you will live long on this land and live better. If you believe you can create a better life with your hands, you could give it a go. I don't think you are going to have a good life, as you may encounter a mini black hole in your life which may deplete your life. You can only live well if you follow the word of God!

If you know my friend, who suffered from cancer. He died the day after I visited him in the hospital. I feel sorrow that I could not help him, I did not have the opportunity to share the word of God with him. I wish I had the chance. As I clearly know it's my destiny to serve the people of God.

Understanding Him and Learning to Fear Him

Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. (Deuteronomy 4:9)

You saw no form of any kind the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully. (Deuteronomy 4:15)

We know the word of God is a complete system, His word is our source of wisdom. We know we have to exercise the word of God, but we also need to be careful! If you are not thorough in academic research, you will fail badly. I am grateful to the Lord, even though my parents were both factory workers, they did not go to school. Later in their life, they participated in a program that was designed to help the illiterate to learn some basic Chinese. If my parents were both educated, then things would be very different. Look at me, I am very intelligent, my parents would not be any worse after all.

We must be careful when it comes to building the church of God. A rigorous approach also came from my university study. Back in the 80s, it was so rare to be able to go to university, I developed a rigorous manner in whatever I do. The first day that I attended the university, my lecturer told us to be rigorous. Can you imagine an airplane coming down from the sky due to a loose screw? It's been 36 years, and I still remember it. You must be careful!

God's word makes us soar on wings like eagles, but the prerequisite is you have to live like an eagle. You need to be in the air! If you can't, then you will crash and burn! Likewise, if we want to fly like an eagle, we must follow the word of God as it's the foundation on which we build our life!

Don't do it casually. If you don't give it enough attention, it will go against you. Goe example, you would not go to your driving test unprepared. You must rigorously prepare for it. I'm a smart student so I always prepare for the things I do. When I went for my driving test, I wanted to get 100% correct. All I'm saying is that we must be rigorous in building the church. It does not matter whether you have been to school or not, we can't do things half-heartedly. I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that we must be careful, and keep our heart because our God is a jealous God. Don't ever think you can appease Him by doing what most Christians do, disobeying Him.

I have met many Christians who don’t really know the word of God. Whenever they talk, they only talk about the time they were baptised and congratulate each other on getting a ticket to heaven after their death. I often wonder to myself, how do they know that? What if it is a sulfur lake? Therefore, you must be careful!

Some people may think the lack of education will affect them. No! God only considers your attitude towards Him, not your education level. Because you need to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. You will find Him if you seek Him.

Many years ago, I was leading the Bible study. A 70-year-old lady, who never attended school, could read the entire Bible. Because she set her mind on it! If she could do it, those in their 20s or 30a can definitely do it. My mum was in her 80s, she loved her smartphone. She video-called people and received video calls from people. She was way better than her peers.

All I'm saying is if you set your mind to it, you will succeed! God knows you seek him. Learn to fear God! It's a serious problem if you don't fear God. This is a fundamentally important lesson for Christians. Throughout my ministry, I concluded that if your children respect you as parents, they won't be nervous when facing problems. On the other hand, if the children don't respect their parents, they will be nervous about their surroundings. This also applies to a dog. If the dog doesn't know who its master is, it will be nervous. If it knows its owner, the nervousness disappears.

Therefore, the critical question is whether we need to fear God. A person who fears God, will not fear anything else! Because our God is a jealous God! Those who are scared are because they don't fear God. They fear everything apart from God. Up til now, I still tremble when I make a mistake. We must fear Him! One of the Ten Commandments tells us to honor our parents.

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. (Exodus 20:12)

God is a faithful God! I was born in the countryside, a place where my mum was displaced back in the 1960s. She was an excellent member of the Communist Party. In 1962, my grandfather, my father's father, fell severely ill. My mum borrowed 2000 yuan, an equivalent of half a million yuan today, to treat my grandfather. It was a hefty amount of debt that she might never be able to pay back. As a result, she chose to be placed in the countryside to get 2000 yuan compensation so she could pay off the debt.

The reason why she was in debt was that she loved and honored my grandfather and my father loved my mum's father. When my mum was in her 80s, her children loved her the same way as she loved my grandfather. This is because my mum obeyed one of the Ten Commandments. This is a commandment with a promise. It's very important!

Disobeying the Word of God, You will Perish

Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created human beings on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of? Has any other people heard the voice of God speaking out of fire, as you have, and lived? Has any god ever tried to take for himself one nation out of another nation, by testings, by signs and wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, or by great and awesome deeds, like all the things the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your very eyes? You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides him there is no other. (Deuteronomy 4:32-35)

Most of us have experienced the signs and wonders of the Lord. We all used to live in curses. Today, our God sacrificed Himself to save us from the curse. Even so, we still need to observe whether this God is a real God and what He wants us to observe. The gospel is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes in Him. If you believe, you will experience the signs and wonders performed by His outstretched arms. If you don't know who He is, then you are in trouble.

I often tell people that if God rules over the entire universe, He can certainly rule over our palaver. So what's the problem? If you follow His commands, He will bless you in whatever you do. You don't need to be corrupt, because have God, you will lack nothing.

Therefore, we need to observe whether He is a real God! Will He supply all our needs? If He does, do you still need to work for ill gains? Those who have committed criminal offenses won't have a good life. Curses will latch onto them and lead to a sad life. My dear brothers and sisters, I can certainly tell you that you will lack nothing when you rely on Him. We will be a blessing to this world like Abraham!

But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 4:29)

Brothers and sisters, I encourage all of you to start seeking the Lord! Seeking is an attitude that shows your desire to reach the truth. Otherwise, you waste your life on this earth and live in misery.

Do not worship idols, because we are highly respected. If you do, you shall perish! You can observe those who suffer from cancer. There must be problems somewhere. The most fundamental issue is worshiping idols. This is crystal clear from God!

so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol, an image of any shape, whether formed like a man or a woman, or like any animal on earth or any bird that flies in the air, or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below. And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the LORD your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven. (Deuteronomy 4:16-19)

After you have had children and grandchildren and have lived in the land a long time—if you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol, doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God and arousing his anger, (Deuteronomy 4:25)

Would you worship those idols when you know how respectable you are? Isn't it sad? You would not want to bow down to a low-grade creature to worship the idols. Just like a pig which will eventually turn into pork. Everything on this earth was created for humans. How wonderful is that? Why would you worship those who are least important?

One of my friends contacted me a few days ago as he felt hot and cold at the same time. He was tormented by it. So I prayed for him. Then, I realized he had idols in his house. I told him to throw those idols away. He refused because they were passed down for generations. They were almost his heirlooms. After praying, he got better. The second day, the symptoms came back! I was not surprised at all. If he wanted to cherish those idols then he would continue to suffer. This is the word of God to command us to not worship idols. You can serve the Lord only!

You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. (Exodus 20:3-4)

If you bow down to your job, then your job will be your Idol, and your job will become your snare! You will live for it and die for it! As this is your destiny! If this is your logic of living, I can assure you that you will not live a good life!

Summary

We must know the Lord is our God! No other Gods before Him! Because He is the only God, we must obey His commands! I'm grateful that I have such an honour to know Him! Since then, my life has taken off!

I live for Him! I aspire to be a blessing to many nations! This is my destiny! It comes from the word of God! This is the only way to a blessed life! Brothers and sisters, I hope you all start following Him after listening to what I have shared! Your life will be full of blessings! Our God is a good God, He wants us to live a good life. The more you obey Him, the more blessed you will be!
