【Sermon】Believe That You Have Received, and You Will Receive

2017-06-12 42,245 Sermon Confidence Faith Trust Assurance

1. Theme: Believe You Receive, and You Shall Receive

Believe you receive, and you shall receive. When I minister healing and deliverance to others, I am convinced in my mind that they will be healed after I pray for them. You might wonder, what is the difference between my prayer and yours? The difference lies in faith. I hope that every brother and sister in our church, when I pray, I believe that I will receive what I ask for. There are many instances in the Bible where Jesus Christ healed the sick without suggesting they see a doctor. Illness can be very painful; shoulder pain, headaches—these can be extremely debilitating.

If you think that being blessed while sick is a good thing, then have more of those blessings. Today, we must understand that Jesus is the God of healing. The promises of God in the Bible are faithful. You ask me why I am so certain? Because you believe you receive, and you shall receive. There are miracles in traditional churches as well. As long as you believe you will receive, you shall receive. There are so many promises in the Bible that we, as brothers and sisters, can all receive. Each of us has a grace to live healthily in this world. There are many other promises in the Bible, and no matter how many there are, they are all true.

Do you have the courage today to believe that we will receive the promises? My parents had five children, and it was difficult enough to care for them when they were sick. Moreover, most of the generation born in the 1960s are only children. So, what will we do if we become sick? Therefore, we must, by all means, realize God's promises. We must see that what we have received is just a drop in the ocean. Our God is a God who watches over us and protects us.

Last Sunday morning, I woke up and received a message on WeChat. A friend of mine was sick and hospitalized. I went to visit him and prayed with him for a short while, and he was fine. The promise of healing and deliverance is clearly recorded in the Bible. No matter who you are, as long as you do not doubt in your heart and believe that what you say will come to pass, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you will receive it, and you shall receive it in Jesus Christ. As long as you do not doubt in your heart, believe that you will receive it, and you shall receive it. We have encountered God.

He has given us a blank check. Why am I so bold in sharing this with everyone? Because I am practicing the path of faith with the mindset of an engineer. I believe that God is going to do amazing things in us. If there are still those among us who have a hesitant mindset, then seize hold of God's promises and do not be greedy for other things.

We are to be channels of blessing. We must begin to believe that we receive what we believe. We receive not for the sake of receiving, but to give out. Today, in our era, all kinds of people need God. Today, many of my classmates do not yet believe in the Lord. People in their fifties are experiencing many health problems, such as high blood pressure and high blood sugar. I eagerly desire to be a blessing to my classmates. They do not know God and are unaware that there are so many faithful promises in God. Today, I want to encourage everyone to keep running on the path of faith. We have received many benefits, so we must keep running. Living is a very simple thing; begin to enter onto the path of faith.

In elementary school, we read The Foolish Old Man Removes the Mountain. Although the foolish old man did not know God, because of his faith, God sent two angels to fulfill his wish. The Chinese have known the principle of faith since ancient times.

2. Scripture

Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:22-24)

3. Prayer

Lord Jesus, You have promised this, and You will accomplish it. Even if there are difficulties like mountains before us today, as long as we have faith, You will surely accomplish it for us. Let us know today, Believe you receive, and you shall receive. May You personally fulfill Your word. Do a wonderful thing among us today. We long to provide the best education for the brothers and sisters of the church. May You accomplish it Yourself, so that the world may see Your glory. Amen!

4. Scripture Background

The background of this passage is a bit difficult to understand. Because it was not the season for figs, the fig tree had no fruit. Jesus cursed the fig tree, and the next day it withered. Then Jesus said those words to His disciples. Some may say that I am taking this passage out of context. But regardless of the background, I think what Jesus said is particularly good: I believe, therefore I receive. Simply put, the fig tree was innocent, not provoking anyone, but Jesus used the cursing of the fig tree—such a seemingly boring thing—to teach His disciples: Whatever it is, whenever it is, everything is included, God accomplishes things because of your faith.

Everything is included is a very small thing for God. You know that the matter of the fig tree is not a big deal. The Bible says, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Yet, Jesus used two whatevers, teaching the disciples to practice faith without hesitation. A fig tree suffered such a result and curse simply for not bearing fruit. Jesus really didn't care much about whether the fig tree bore fruit or not; God cares that people believe they receive and they shall receive. Brothers and sisters, do you really know how great the grace of our God is, how many promises there are? Do you know the longing our God has for us to practice faith? God hopes that we will practice faith. Whatever we ask for, as long as it can build up your faith, God eagerly desires that you put it into practice.

Because of this background, I want to tell you an interesting story. A long time ago, there was a pastor whom I greatly admired because he was a man of faith. In the 1950s and 60s, he was very poor. When he went out to preach the gospel, people would say, You're the one who needs the gospel! He would say, Yes, we both need the gospel. He longed to have a bicycle in his heart. In those days, having a bicycle was almost like having a car today. He wanted a bicycle with very advanced technology that could shift gears. When people asked him where his bicycle was, he would say it was in his belly, being conceived. He believed he would receive it.

Several months passed, and he used faith to conceive and give birth to the bicycle. Do you know what happened? He firmly believed, and after nine months, someone gave him a bicycle—exactly the brand he wanted, with the gear-shifting capabilities he desired. It turned out that a wealthy man near his home was moving to the United States and couldn't take the bicycle with him, so he gave the good bicycle to him. God, in order for him to receive the bicycle, spared no expense and moved the whole family to America. I tell you, as long as you believe, God will surely accomplish it for you.

Many theologians criticize, saying, What's the point of having a bicycle? What glory is there in a bicycle? But when a person is building up their faith, they ask for things that are closely related to their lives. Lord, give me a job. Brothers and sisters, believe you receive, and you shall receive. This is how we build up our faith. This is the background of this passage.

Our God greatly desires that we practice faith. Today, believe and begin to know that what you ask will come to pass. If you are in business, believe that your business will prosper; if you are working, believe that your work will flourish. If you are pregnant and giving birth, believe that your child will be very good. There is nothing wrong with this. There is nothing wrong with wanting these things. If you have faith, God will accomplish it for you.

Our God loves us so much. Have you seen children, one or two years old, asking their parents for things? They believe that their parents will give it to them. And their parents give them the best. Through faith, we know that God loves us more than our earthly parents love us. Whatever we ask for, God will give us.

He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32)

## 5. What is the Lord Jesus Saying - Moving Mountains

> Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. (Mark 11:23)

Have we seen a mountain move into the sea? Do you believe it? Do you believe your faith is that powerful? This passage is a metaphor for asking for something impossible, believing that what you say will come to pass, and God will make it happen. In the past, I may have encountered many mountains, big and small, but I have walked through them, and God has been very faithful.

If Jesus uses moving mountains to tell us that no matter what difficult thing you ask for, as long as you believe and do not doubt in your heart, God will make it happen for you. Whoever believes, things will be accomplished. Brothers and sisters, can you start to restore the faith within you? Begin to know that this is God's promise. This is the fundamental principle of faith that Jesus Christ wants us to practice.

If you believe in Jesus, do you believe in what Jesus said? If you believe in Jesus but do not believe in what Jesus said, it is a pity; you have believed wrongly. Believe in the true Jesus, believe in what Jesus said. You know that in the Christian faith, it is about turning the impossible into the possible. Our God is a God who creates something from nothing, which is very wonderful.

Once, Jesus attended a wedding banquet and the wine ran out. Jesus did something that many religious people would not do. Religious people would say you cannot drink alcohol, but our God turned water into many jars of good wine. Was there really any glory in turning water into wine? But Jesus accomplished this through faith.

Some brothers and sisters have a hard time finding jobs. I say that even if there is no job for you in this world, our God will create a job for you. God creates a job because of your faith. Believe that you receive, and you will receive. This is truly believing for impossible things. You don't need faith to ask for possible things. I think, if I want to eat ice cream, you don't need to ask for that because it is very likely to happen. But asking to move a mountain is an impossible thing. For impossible things, we act and practice according to our faith. This is our faith.

## 6. Whatever We Pray For - Believe That You Receive, and You Will Receive

God wants us to exercise our faith. If our God is like this, are you still worried about problems in life? My parents worry about being bedridden when they are old and causing trouble for their children, then you should pray! You will definitely not cause trouble for your children! Whatever you ask for, there are no limits. As long as you believe and persevere, you will receive. Do not be impatient. It takes nine months to give birth to a child, and three days to sprout soybeans! If you plant a flat peach, it will bear fruit only once every three thousand years. Abraham prayed for twenty-six years before he had a son. Jacob was seventy-five years old before he received the rights of the firstborn. Do you really have such a character? Do not doubt halfway through, wondering if you are wrong. For those who believe, all things are possible! I pray for whatever I ask for, and I believe that I receive, and I will receive! These words are very good.

## 7. What Do You Think About What Some People Say Today

Many people will criticize my sermon today, and some people will not be able to accept these words. Your views are the same as the scribes and elders. Our God is an omnipresent God. We say this because God loves us and gives us everything. I say this because Jesus said it. I will definitely do what Jesus did in the future. Our faith continues to grow through practice! Our God is faithful, no matter how much He has. Look at things from God's perspective, and continue to practice faith. In the future, you may have sons and grandsons who tell stories about how God worked through you to practice faith. How wonderful! Do not hold on to the mistakes of others, that is unbelief. If someone says the same thing as Jesus today, you should say Amen!

## 8. The Foundation of Prayer is Faith

Children as young as four years old among us can do healing and deliverance! When praying, do not doubt while praying. When I was eating breakfast, I met someone who told me that he would go blind in a year. I told him that everyone I pray for will be healed. I said, put your hand on my hand and I will pray for you. After praying, his eyes became clear. Today, this person is healed. Three months later, he sent me a message saying that the doctor said his eyes were healed. Some people are very bad; they ask, is it really healed? Go to the hospital for a check-up. If you are healed, wouldn't you yourself know? They would rather believe the test report than believe in God.

The foundation of prayer is faith. If you do not believe, what is the point of praying? I want to do several impossible things in this era. I want to lead our team to provide education for children, even though it is free, it will be the best. Because I believe it is the best, I believe God will make us the best. A life that was originally empty will become a glorious life. You think money is very good, but I do not think so. Faith is a treasure. Believers will be accompanied by signs and wonders!

## 9. Remove Doubts About Works

The Lord Jesus never said that you will receive because you have good deeds. Where do works come from? The Lord Jesus criticized the disciples for not having faith, just believe that you receive, and you will receive. What is faith with works? The blind man in Jericho said I want to see. He had no works but he had faith. He used his faith to obtain. Jesus criticized the disciples for their lack of faith.

Works are the fruit of faith. God looks at people's hearts. The disciples Jesus found were not because of their works. God values their faith. The fruit of faith is miracles. Believers will be accompanied by signs and wonders. With faith, the Spirit of God will be with them. If our works are good, it is not our credit, it is God's credit, it is the Spirit of God helping us.

It is enough to believe in yourself. Even if your behavior has not changed, God will help us. So remove doubts about works, do not include even 0.00001% of works.

## 10. Conclusion: Just Believe

Just believe, is it difficult? Just be a believer! Faith can shake the spiritual world, because faith is a spiritual tool that can move the mighty arm of God. The Bible from beginning to end discusses faith. Do you believe in God? Do you believe that God can accomplish an exceeding and eternal weight of glory in this era? Our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all!

Thank God for giving me faith in this article. I am sick now, and for various reasons, I have not gone to the hospital for examination. I can only pray to God at home, asking God to heal me, but I always doubt my little faith. I pray earnestly every day, but I always lack faith. Thank God for letting me find faith in it. I believe God will heal me.

Genesis 3:7, Adam and Eve found themselves naked, so they used fig leaves (first mentioned) to make skirts to cover themselves. The leaves of the fig tree represent human righteousness, human self-righteousness (the Pharisees are representatives of self-righteousness), so Jesus issued the only curse. Genesis 3:21, God made clothes of skin for them to wear. Genesis 27:15, 16 Rebekah...also used goatskins...
