【Sermon】Restoring a Life of Freedom

2016-05-23 9,859 Sermon

Today's Topic: Restore the Life of Freedom!

What is the church for? It is a place to be released and to gain freedom!

Rom 1:4 and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, Rom 1:5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations,

How many people are set free, how many people gain freedom! What office is more exciting than this one?

Human perspective - Why do you live? Key question

This week is an exciting week! Two sisters came from afar to Singapore to be baptized into Jesus Christ!

Why is it exciting? Because they got freedom!

Sister Wang Qi's testimony - I was so excited when I heard Sister Wang Qi's testimony! That is the result of the service of me and the brothers and sisters who share the mission with me!

Freedom is so good! - From now on, no longer be restrained by the yoke of servants

A thought, a problem seen according to human intention, is immediately restricted!

That's why I'm sharing a topic with you today: restoring a life of freedom!

Let's look at today's scripture.

Scripture: Luke 4:16-21

Luk 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. Luk 4:17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, Luk 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, Luk 4:19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” Luk 4:20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. Luk 4:21 And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

In the beginning, God created everything free!

God saw that everything was good!

Freedom!

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil is placed in the garden. Give people the right to choose!

Today you can still choose to eat the knowledge of good and evil, or not to eat the knowledge of good and evil...

People are not free when they eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil!

Eating the knowledge of good and evil - the root of all problems

People's unbelief - is the problem

Faith can simplify complex problems

Ask a lot of questions - answer them, and there are more questions

Knowing good and evil - brings curses

The curse directly brings about the legitimate operation of evil spirits

Everything is stumbling

Eating the knowledge of good and evil - seeing problems from a human perspective

Faith - seeing problems from God's perspective

Those who have faith have a future, and those who have no faith have no future.

Those who have faith will turn bad things into good things, but those who have no faith will turn good things into bad things!

God sees everything as good. People see everything as bad - habits!

Jesus Christ came to restore our freedom

Col 2:9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, Col 2:10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

  • Poverty - is to be broken

  • The captives are released

  • The blind can see

  • The oppressed are set free

Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Act 4:9 if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, Act 4:10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well.

Jhn 8:31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, Jhn 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jhn 8:33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” Jhn 8:34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. Jhn 8:35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. Jhn 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Christians Can Still Be Controlled – It's All About Your Choice!

Rom 6:16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? Rom 6:17 But God be thanked that you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. Rom 6:18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.

Christians Eating the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil – Very Common

Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal 2:21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain. Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

Loving God Will Not Lead to Control, Loving Anything More Than Loving the Lord Is Control

Liberation – The People's Liberation Army liberated, but are people free? (In the spirit, not free)

Let some people get rich first – Get rich, are they free? (Da Shou)

There is a graduate student in orthopedics – Seeing the deterioration of doctor-patient relationship, fearing the future, he became entangled (He saw us live streaming – Everyone is joyful, very free, without burdens)

Bound by learning

Bound by work

Bound by business

Bound by parents

Bound by family

Living for God, not bound by God.

Rom 1:4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

Gal 5:11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. Gal 5:12 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! Gal 5:13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Gal 5:14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Gal 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another. Gal 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Rom 1:4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.

Rom 9:32 Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. Rom 9:33 As it is written: “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

The Road to Recovering Faith

Establishing a Free Church Culture

Not by administrative means

Not by releasing pressure

It's all your free choice

Rom 6:10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Rom 6:11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. Rom 6:13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Healing and deliverance – Main work. Free or not free?

Only the truth can set people free
