Introduction
In my early days of ministry, I had a spiritual encounter that deeply impacted me. While working at a university, I had a female student, a very bright girl, who fell ill with what one might call lovesickness—she was infatuated with a boy who did not reciprocate her feelings. In her distress, she sought help at a temple, obtaining strange amulets in the hope of winning the boy's affection. However, from that day forward, spirits seemed to enter her, and she became consumed by fear.
One day, this young woman was found at a subway station, standing in a bizarre, squatting posture for two full days. Someone alerted the authorities, and she was taken to a psychiatric hospital. As her mentor, I was contacted. I visited her at the hospital and found her restrained, a harrowing sight. Eventually, the hospital released her, as all tests came back normal; she was deemed mentally sound.
Later, I asked her how she could maintain such an unnatural stance for so long. She revealed that a voice inside her had commanded, You must do this, or you will descend into the eighteen levels of hell. It was fear that drove her, a tormenting dread that kept her frozen in place.
Fear is a sensation, a deeply agonizing feeling. Yet, we must remember that Jesus Christ has liberated us. He, like us, possessed flesh and blood, yet He conquered death, defeating the one who holds the power of death, thereby freeing us, releasing those who are enslaved by the fear of death.
Scripture
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. (Hebrews 2:14-18)
Prayer
Lord, we thank you! You have defeated the one who holds the power of death. Today, we receive the spirit of sonship; in love, there is no fear. Today, we release all who are fearful, all who fear death. May the Holy Spirit move among us today, setting free those who are captive. Amen!
Understanding Death
A young man developed a small blister on his knee, which gradually grew into a severe tumor. He found me online, and I prayed with him and his family. One night, he was in intense pain and asked me to lead him in prayer. In the early hours of that morning, as I prayed with him, he passed away. It struck me profoundly! In the face of death, humans are truly helpless. Death, for human beings, is a matter of grave consequence.
What exactly is death? Where do we go after death? We have long held misconceptions about this. I am clear on one thing: death is a deeply spiritual matter. A classmate of mine had her husband killed by the spirit of death; he jumped off a building. Her family also experienced many strange occurrences. She shared many of these things with me.
One day, she suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital. She told her son, If someone calls you tomorrow, asking you to bring some congee to the hospital, do so. If there is no call, then you can come to the hospital to collect your mother's body. Before the surgery, she saw someone come in and tell her, If someone tries to take you away, do not go. Then this person vanished. During the surgery, she later told me, she was fully conscious and actually saw people trying to seize her; she refused to go at all costs… After the surgery, she woke up. She marveled that the spiritual world is indeed very real!
Death and the fear of death are profoundly spiritual matters. Do not dismiss this as nonsense; such things happen frequently.
One day, I returned to my hometown and met some classmates for dinner and a sauna. One of these classmates showed me his arm, which had atrophied muscles. I prayed for him, and on that very day, his hand returned to normal. Later, he shared a spiritual experience with me: one day, he fell ill and sought help from a doctor friend, who arranged for him to be admitted to a ward in the oncology department. He was afraid, so he placed his gun (he was a police officer) under his pillow. After falling asleep, he saw four large men enter and try to carry him away. He tried to reach for his gun but could not. He managed to turn on the light with great effort, and the four men vanished.
I have never seen the guardians of hell or visited heaven or hell, but I am very clear about spiritual matters because I have delivered many brothers and sisters who were oppressed by the spirit of death. I know very clearly that our God, Jesus Christ, has defeated the one who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, and released those who are enslaved by fear.
Man's greatest fear is the fear of death. Whether a person lives well or poorly has nothing to do with fearing or not fearing death. As long as you fear death, evil spirits will frighten you and release lies, causing you to follow those lies and corrupt your life. But our God, incarnate in the flesh, came into the world, went to the cross, died, and rose again on the third day, conquering death, defeating the one who holds the power of death, and releasing us.
Some shamans are also very powerful; they can levitate in the air. These are all spiritual matters. In some villages, many people are sick and helpless, clinging to useless customs. The words I speak today, the sermon I preach, are not based on persuasive wisdom but on the power of God. If I encounter such helpless villages, where doctors cannot heal them, I will go and pray for them because I have the authority of the Lord Jesus.
Only by grasping the essence of things can we solve problems. One day, my sister called me. In the video, I saw my mother bleeding from her eyes, mouth, and nose, gasping for breath, seemingly on the verge of death, while my sister prayed fervently. I joined my sister in prayer, and later, my mother came back to life.
I believe I have grasped the essence of things: being alive is a spiritual matter. One sister had an 80-year-old mother who was on the verge of death. The sister pulled her back. When she came back, the old mother said to her daughter, Daughter, do not pull me back again. My spirit had left my body; it was so light and peaceful… So, the afterlife is like this; it is not just like blowing out a candle.
In reality, people fear death, while those who do not fear death will be like me.
Fear Leads to Loss of Freedom
So, this is what death is like. Although I have never died, I have brought many back from the brink. A person's life is a struggle between freedom and fear; if one fears, one loses freedom.
There was a brother who was very afraid of his wife, strangely so. His wife only played mahjong, and he bore all the responsibilities at home. Later, he began to grow stronger and gradually overcame his fear.
Some time ago, there was a brother who was extremely afraid of his wife. When she called him while he was beside me, he trembled. Fear is a carnal nature inherent in a person. It is not that I am not afraid; we all are, but in our understanding, we know that Jesus has already freed those who have lost their freedom due to fear. We resolve not to be afraid. Although Abraham wandered throughout his life, he was not afraid.
The Timid Gain Nothing
Relying on Jesus Christ, nothing will collapse. In the eyes of Jesus Christ, the timid are rubbish, to be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone to be burned.
If we have the faith of Abraham within us, we can overcome. If you have faith, if you fear God, you will no longer be afraid. If you want to live in freedom, you must make a choice between fear and freedom. If you are not afraid, nothing will fall apart.
I have seen pastors who were afraid of their congregation members. A friend of mine got cancer. I understand him; he fears too many things.
Freedom Cannot Be Negotiated
Freedom is non-negotiable, and sovereignty is non-negotiable. Today, for the sake of freedom, we must overcome the fear of death no matter what. What a person is filled with inside is what will manifest in their life.
Do you want to inherit the promises of Jesus Christ? Come out of fear! You must know for sure that nothing is impossible for Jesus Christ. In building the church, I fear nothing. As long as I have God, I fear nothing. The prosperity of the church today is because we believe in God's promises. I emulate the faith of Abraham, because Abraham believed that God could raise the dead. Therefore, he completely offered his only son Isaac to God, and his son Isaac completely offered himself to God as well.
Those who are not afraid of death do not belong to death but belong to God. If you do not have an essential understanding of life and death, your life will be very entangled. I advise those who live small lives that you will spend your life in fear. Living a small life is being at odds with God. If God does not discipline you, the demons will come looking for you, and the things you fear will not decrease.
What Are You Living For?
What are you ultimately living for? This is Mingding Destiny. If you live for your children, husband, parents, or work, that is a small life, and you will constantly collapse throughout your life.
Today, with a clear conscience and the mercy of God, I urge everyone that small lives are unsustainable! Isn't it when small lives become unsustainable that people seek God? Why then do you return to small lives ? Mingding Destiny and blessing go together. A blessing of Mingding Destiny is the key to living well. Moreover, we do not live to make our own lives better, but to live out God's Mingding Destiny.
In the past few times, I told everyone that you must forsake to gain. Forsaking is God's requirement, not for anything else, but for us to gain freedom. The matter of human life is very worthy of exploration.
When my grandfather passed away, I was not yet born. my mother told me that my grandfather missed his daughters. My mother sent them telegrams, but they were unwilling to return, and my grandfather painfully scratched on the bed. People cannot see clearly; that is why there are all sorts of collapsing events.
People are really strange. They do not understand life and death and fear various things throughout their lives. God wants to save Abraham and Abraham's descendants. This is not Abraham's physical descendants, but the descendants who inherit Abraham's faith.
Jesus Christ Himself was tempted and suffered in order to help us who are being tempted. When we know in our understanding that we are no longer controlled by the things of the world, which is forsaking, there is no one who will not receive a hundredfold in this life and eternal life in the age to come.
Someone prays, Lord, give me faith. The Bible does not actually contain such prayers. You only need to pray, God, I choose to believe. Faith allows you to constantly experience God's power, and those who trust in God will never be put to shame. Although our physical bodies will die, our spirits will be with God forever. If you do not know this in your understanding, even if you have experienced many spiritual things, you still will not know it in your understanding. If you know it in your understanding, you will know that God holds you with His almighty hand.
Among us, are there any who fear their boss, fear losing their job, or losing their families? If you are afraid, these will become your entanglements and limitations; if you are not afraid, these cannot become your limitations. On the contrary, you can bless these people.
Summary: Choose to Be Someone Who Is No Longer Afraid
Choose in your understanding to be someone who is no longer afraid. You can experiment and try being afraid of this and that, and see what the results will be. If a pastor is afraid, he will suffer from insomnia and depression.
Our God is faithful. He died and rose from the dead for us. Does what we do today overturn your view of death? I hope everyone will begin to make a clear decision—to no longer be afraid. God has rescued us and conquered death. What else do we have to fear?
If you are still afraid, you should carefully examine what the consequences of fear are and what the consequences of faith are. If you are willing to try, by faith, you will regain freedom and restore the image of God's children.
May God bless everyone!
