【Bible Study】1 Kings Chapter 20 - Then You Will Know That I Am The Lord God!

2014-06-20 39,048 1 Kings

Do you truly know that Jehovah is God? In our lives, we often face immense challenges. If you do not know that Jehovah is God, it is a most pitiable thing. Many Christians do not know that Jehovah is God. At the workplace, they fear everyone, except God. This is why so many people have not lived abundantly!

Questions for Reflection:

  • Each person has their own unique experience of believing in the Lord. What made you realise that Jehovah is the true God?

  • Ahab was a terrible king in God's eyes, but why did God cause him to triumph in the war against the King of Aram?

  • How do you think you can let the people around you know that Jehovah is God in your life?

Then You Will Know That Jehovah is God!

In fact, the entire Bible repeatedly emphasizes one thing: Then you will know that Jehovah is God. In our lives, we often face immense challenges, especially in the workplace. If you do not know that Jehovah is God, it is a most pitiable thing. Many Christians do not know that Jehovah is God, and thus, in the workplace, they fear everyone, except God. Everyone must change this mindset.

Among us, you can see the testimonies of many people: they work diligently and conscientiously in the workplace, but they never cut back on the time that belongs to God. If there is a conflict with meeting times, even if the boss asks them to work overtime, they dare to leave their work and come to church. But their bosses, instead, begin to respect them! Why? Because Jehovah is God! If God causes your boss to respect you, he will respect you. No matter how great the challenges or confusions you face, do not forget one thing: Jehovah is God.

In fact, Ahab was not a good king. Even so, God did not allow a foreigner to boast against Him! That is to say, we must know: the grace that God accomplishes in you is not because of how good your behaviour is, but because you are the elect of Jehovah God. As God's chosen people, if a foreigner often speaks arrogantly in front of you, then God will surely let you trample him under your feet! So brothers and sisters, do not be afraid! When we face powerful opponents, we must remember: how powerful the Arameans were, but they were defeated by a weak Israel! And twice in a row! So, everyone, do not be afraid.

Ahab was, in reality, quite weak. Yet, even in Ahab's weakness, and with his penchant for idolatry, God still showed him mercy because of that flicker of faith within him. If you can be strong and courageous, you may not even give the enemy an opportunity to attack you. I am not encouraging you to emulate Ahab, but I want you to see that if you have even a modicum of faith, God will show you mercy. So what is there to fear? Thus, I urge you to be a strong and courageous Christian!

Therefore, we, as brothers and sisters in Christ, must know that Jehovah is God! Today we know that Jehovah is God, and tomorrow we shall also know that Jehovah is God; if we know that Jehovah is God throughout our lives, we are blessed! So, do not be afraid! Many of our brothers and sisters face opposition from their parents concerning their faith. When these parents come to Singapore to visit, they become apprehensive, unsure how to explain their beliefs. When faced with such circumstances, we often falter. But if you truly know in your heart that Jehovah is God, you will steel yourself, be strong and courageous, and not fear your parents' opposition; nor will you allow them to speak presumptuously. And even if they utter presumptuous words, we will still believe that they too will come to know that Jehovah is God. Then we can be certain that our parents will be transformed, and that our days on this earth will be abundant!
