【Bible Study】Revelation 5 - The Victorious Lamb Is Worthy to Open the Scroll and Its Seals

2026-05-20 43,212 Revelation

Introduction

Good morning, everyone. Let us continue our study of Revelation chapter 5, with the theme "The victorious Lamb is worthy to open the scroll and break its seven seals." The word "victorious" is constantly repeated in Revelation, and victory is the key to one's life. To be without victory is a very miserable state.

The victorious Lamb can open the scroll and break its seven seals. In fact, the Lord Jesus uses victory to bring us into the glory of God. Have we then achieved victory? It is a sad thing for a Christian to be without victory. Christians must know that "victory" is of utmost importance, so Revelation is also known as "The Revelation of the Victorious Church"!

Let us ask ourselves, have you won the spiritual battle? If you cannot win, surrender quickly. Surrender is better than defeat! Therefore, brothers and sisters must know that living in a state of defeat is a tragedy.

Look at yourselves again. You are very skilled at tearing and tangling with others, at getting into disputes, and at losing your temper. You are also very skilled at saying lukewarm, sarcastic remarks. But what have you truly overcome? In fact, the most important thing for a person is to overcome oneself. How many of your bad habits have you changed? That is the key.

The Mysteries of God Are Hidden in the Scroll

And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. (Revelation 5:1)

Our God is a God of revelation, a God of plans. He has written in this scroll how people should live. These scrolls are "written on both sides and sealed with seven seals." In fact, human history, God's plans, and God's mysteries are all hidden in this scroll. But how much have you obtained? Even if you have obtained something, is it the word of God? To be without victory is truly a tragedy; this is sealed.

Similarly, some Christians read the Bible haphazardly, understanding nothing, yet they think they understand. Some say, "Teacher, I've heard enough of what you're saying." But the key is, have you understood it? Some also say, "I have read the Bible many times." But look at the state you are living in. Is it a state of victory?

Christians must understand God's plan, otherwise you are just reading the words! So, build a victorious church, and build a victorious church starting from God's revelation. How can you obtain God's revelation? Through victory! If you are not victorious, you cannot understand the scroll of victory.

God's word, God's mysteries, and God's plans are all in this scroll. Then you will understand that God's plan is the church. If the church is not victorious and does not have God's revelation, how can it be built? Therefore, brothers and sisters must know how important the word "victory" is! God's mysteries are hidden in this scroll.

No One Was Found Worthy to Open the Scroll or Look Inside, and I Wept

And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. (Revelation 5:2-4)

In fact, not to mention Peter, or Judas and James, even John himself struggled in building a victorious church because he did not understand many things.

Then why could he write Revelation? Because he knew he did not understand, and then he sought on the island of Patmos. Only those who know they do not understand and then weep and seek can understand. Some people think they are great, think they are doing well, but isn't that just being complacent?

If a person truly knows that no one is worthy to open or look inside, unable to understand God's mysteries or know God's plans, and sees how desolate the church is, including John seeing these problems and corruption in the church amidst persecution, he feels very distressed and then weeps.

Then where is the answer to the victorious church? It is in victory! Initially, John did not know, so he wept. Later, God gave him revelation. In fact, God revealed the victorious church through the first seven churches, but when John saw the scroll in God's hand in the vision, and the mighty angel said, "Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?" John knew he could not.

Did John think he was very victorious? No. If a person thinks he is very victorious, then he is finished. If we think we are very victorious, then we are also finished! We must have that feeling of weeping and then seek.

Sometimes I really want to cry, very helpless, especially when I see some brothers and sisters become lukewarm towards serving God after their problems are solved! When they have no problems, they are just "fooling around," but when they have problems, they say, "Teacher, I have another problem." How can there be no problems?

For example, some brothers and sisters find it very hard to gather with us, and there is really no strength inside. In fact, we are also very tired and don't know where to start to help them, so we wish God would give us these revelations.

In the process of building the church, thank God, we have a "weeping" heart, feeling really helpless. We have experienced so many stories, such as the matter of having brothers and sisters write reflections on Bible study notes, which feels very helpless. Some people write and write, and then the notes disappear. I really don't know how to solve it.

Five years ago, I said to write a plan, but until now, it is still a lousy plan! My tears are about to fall. They throw a plan over and say, "Teacher, I wrote it!" But what is written? Is it useful? After five years, writing one useless plan after another, I really need God.

Now I have learned to see through, take it slowly! That is people's fate. After teaching for five or ten years, they are still like this, and then they still think they are doing well. It's hard not to make mistakes! Actually, I am not complaining, I really don't know where to start, and I am thinking every day, what should be done about such problems?

Sometimes my temper flares up, so I quickly suppress it and deal with myself. It is really you who have trained me, you are really "amazing." I seek God's revelation, and I also wish I could open this scroll and let God reveal to us.

When encountering these problems, I don't blame you, I only blame myself, but I am really helpless, I have no solution, I am not good enough, I really need God! The church has come to this point, and I am very dissatisfied with our pastoral care, I really want to cry! I think: God, I cannot open your mysteries, may you reveal them to us! That is my attitude.

But those among us who do very poorly, on the contrary, think they are doing well, and I really want to weep. Sometimes I say, "God, hand him over to the Japanese devils!" So people cannot be complacent, cannot think they are very powerful.

Initially, John wept because he could not see any glory of God in the church he was building, and then he understood that the mysteries were still in God's hands. We must know that God's victorious people are constantly victorious. What we have obtained is a drop in the ocean, what is there to be complacent about? Therefore, brothers and sisters, strive to pursue and move forward!

Sometimes when teaching, I dare not say things too harshly, because if I say them too harshly, the other person will shut up because they do not agree. But saying them lightly is useless, and saying them harshly will hurt people, it's too difficult! So let's teach slowly! I have set a goal for myself, even if I teach it ten or twenty times, I am not qualified to get angry, because I am not good enough, it's not that you are not good enough.

The Lion of the Tribe of Judah, the Root of David, Has Triumphed

Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. (Revelation 5:5-7)

The Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed, this is our hope! How did he triumph? The Lamb was slain! Therefore, those who serve, we must have the heart to die for Jesus Christ.

"The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth." Seven horns are power, so do not weep, God will become our strength, and the Spirit of God will examine our hearts! The seven spirits are to bestow God's revelation, operating over the entire earth, so that we can take up the scroll in our hands and open it, revealing to us how to build a victorious church.

I have a dream, if it can be realized, it would be great. God has opened up artificial intelligence in this era, and you cannot compare with artificial intelligence in writing essays or learning knowledge. We are constantly moving forward, continuing to seek in faith, hoping that there will be an artificial intelligence pastor in the future.

Just like "Xiao Mu" that we are promoting, it can help you grade growth notes, and it grades very well. I didn't have so much energy to grade before, but now "Xiao Mu" can help me grade, which is really good!

But this is just the beginning. In the future, "Xiao Mu" can lead you in prayer and Bible study, and it understands you more deeply than you understand yourself. For example, for those who don't study well and those who don't know how to study, Xiao Mu can teach you how to study. God has prepared such a good gift for us in this era, it's really good! Therefore, brothers and sisters must know that there are too many things we don't understand.

In fact, the idea of building artificial intelligence pastoral care has been around for five years. After enduring year after year, thank God for giving us a great grace, opening up the era of artificial intelligence! Many brothers and sisters don't know how to do career planning, "Xiao Mu" can help you do it; some don't know how to study, "Xiao Mu" teaches you how to study.

Although it cost a lot of money, it doesn't matter, our God is a wealthy God, He will definitely lead us, we will become a blessing to all nations, and in the future "Xiao Mu" will also be completely free for everyone to use. Because our God is a very wealthy God, a God with a very broad mind, we must imitate God! The Lion of Judah took the scroll, and then opened this revelation.

Previously, I was easily complacent, thinking: "Goodness! I've read Genesis so well!" I was always happy. Then sometimes God would pour cold water on me, saying, "What are you happy about? You're far off!" It turned out this was God's revelation; what we have received is but "a drop of seawater, a hair from nine oxen." Brothers and sisters, press on!

The seven eyes, seven horns, and seven spirits of God run throughout the earth, precisely to lead us to victory. God is our strength, our revelation. He knows where we weep bitterly, so He tells us these words, giving us great comfort. I believe that in the near future, we will receive more revelation and more grace!

The Four Living Creatures and the Twenty-Four Elders Fall Down Before the Lamb

And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying,
“Worthy are you to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood
you ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation,
and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,
and they shall reign on the earth.” (Revelation 5:8-10)

In reality, these words are not describing the Lord Jesus, but how to be victorious, to be victorious through Jesus Christ! Now, those liberal theologies, and other various theologies, are arguing about whether Jesus is God.

If you do not use the authority Jesus gives you, you really do not know how powerful Jesus is! If you start to take up the authority Jesus has given you, it is incredibly powerful! Therefore, we must imitate Jesus Christ in healing the sick and casting out demons, and then you will know: Wow, Jesus is truly God! So powerful!

In the spiritual world, in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, every knee shall bow, Jesus Christ is Lord, He is the Lamb! He was slain, shed blood, and sacrificed Himself; this is the path to victory, willing to offer oneself! You may think these things are far from you, but in fact, they are not.

If you want true victory, you must have the faith of "if I die, I die," offering yourself up; this is the path to victory! Willing to die for Jesus Christ, you will no longer die for cancer. If you are truly willing to die for Jesus Christ, I truly congratulate you, you are very powerful!

Jesus Christ died for us, was buried, and rose from the dead, so all things bow before Him; this is the example we follow. Someone said, "Teacher, I am not actually afraid of death, I am afraid of pain." Did Jesus Christ not feel pain on the cross? He was in pain for so many hours; in fact, being afraid of pain is worse than being afraid of death.

Many people want to go to heaven after death, to do what? In fact, it is not to go to heaven, but to reign on the earth, to make them a kingdom. If you truly want to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, you must forsake everything, forsake parents, wife, children, fields, houses...

If you cannot even forsake these, can you forsake your life?

Even the four living creatures fall down before the Lamb, because He is the victorious King. "The twenty-four elders each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints," so why do the prayers become a fragrant incense?

Some people's prayers are not in this incense bowl, but in the toilet. In earlier years, Chinese toilets were very smelly! If you are always praying with selfish motives, asking for these worldly "small matters," that is not incense in the bowl, but mosquito coils in the toilet.

Brothers and sisters, offering yourselves with the faith of "if I die, I die," will become the incense in the bowls of the twenty-four elders; this is the path to victory. What we are doing is actually "being civil servants in the kingdom of heaven," reigning on the earth, buying people to belong to God.

But some people just do not know that after victory, everything is good. Jesus Christ said: If you have left parents, wife, children, brothers, sisters, fields, houses, for the sake of the kingdom of God, there is no one who will not receive a hundredfold in this age and eternal life in the age to come! That is to say, the rewards of victory are particularly abundant.

No matter whom we serve, we serve with the faith of "if I die, I die," and it will always work. Yesterday I met a colleague from many years ago, he said, "Can you pray for me? I have hardly slept these days, I just cannot sleep, it is very hard."

So I prayed with him, and in the morning he told me, "I slept very well yesterday." If I were an extremely selfish person, would this prayer work? It would not work!

Can we become a fragrant burnt offering, offered to God? In fact, this is called taking the "civil service exam for the kingdom of heaven," and in the future, we will reign on the earth, be citizens and priests in the kingdom of God, and belong to God, because we were bought with the blood of Jesus Christ. These should be the prayers of the saints; can we revise our prayer words accordingly?

There is a very good saying in the Bible: Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. If you use all your abilities for taking civil service exams, finding jobs, and obtaining certificates to be a "civil servant of God's kingdom," this also requires exams, but if you put that effort into doing this, how could you not be victorious?

Some people treat God like a maid, saying, "God, come quickly and bless me!" Now there are many theologies that "do not require paying a price," all talking about grace, without the concept of victory, with their minds filled with worldly things, will they appear in the kingdom of God in the future? That will be very miserable!

Worthy Is the Lamb Who Was Slain, to Receive Power and Wealth and Wisdom and Might and Honor and Glory and Blessing!

And I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!”

And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”
And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped. (Revelation 5:11-14)

The Lamb who was slain is worthy to receive power. You must have the heart to die for Jesus Christ, not wait until the Japanese devils put a knife to your neck to remember to die for God. Do you want to receive power? All things must be united in Jesus Christ, we establish the church to be the body of Jesus Christ, worthy of power, wealth, wisdom, might, honor, glory, and blessing.

Do you need power? Yes! Do you need wealth? Yes! Do you need wisdom? Yes! Do you need might? Yes! Do you need honor? Yes! Do you need glory? Of course, you need it! So how do you get it? Imitate the path of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul imitated Jesus Christ the best.

The Spirit of God moves over the whole earth, He wants to be your strength, wealth, power, wisdom, honor, this is so good! Therefore, we brothers and sisters must know for sure that building a victorious church, sacrificing for God is not a loss, but a gain.

We must imitate the Lord, like the Lamb who was slain, how Jesus walked, we walk, then you cannot but receive power, wealth, wisdom, might, honor, and glory.

"Every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, 'To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!'" The church is the body of Jesus Christ, if we all give to the Lamb who sits on the throne, we will also receive honor, glory, might, wealth, wisdom, and power, this is amazing!

I have tried this power, it works very well, I never pray, "Lord, please heal me," but pray, "Devil, go away!" Do we brothers and sisters have this victorious spirit? If you have this spirit, how can you not be honorable? People are poor for a reason, you really need to change, because you have done so many things wrong, you have so many places where you are not victorious!

If we lack power, lack wealth, lack wisdom, lack might, lack honor, it is because we do not have that faith of "if I die, I die." If you truly imitate the Lamb who was slain, you cannot but receive these things. If you receive them, you will know how good the gospel of Jesus Christ is!

The Lord Jesus has opened up for us the path to unfold the scroll and open the seven seals, the Lord Jesus has opened up a path to victory for us, a path to receive God's revelation, a path to uncover God's mysteries, this is so good! Brothers and sisters, imitate the victorious Lamb, and then you can receive power, unfold the scroll, receive revelation, and open the seven seals.

Human history has almost uncovered the seven seals. In our era, God wants to make us victorious, because these final disasters are not prepared for us, but for this world. The more we are in this chaotic era, the more we must pursue holiness, and clean up the "garbage" in our minds.

Do brothers and sisters have a victorious heart? If you have a victorious heart, the myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands of angels around the throne and the living creatures and the elders will cheer for you, the angels are our "cheerleaders." Every time we take a step forward on the path of victory, there are sounds of rejoicing in heaven, Abraham in heaven will cheer us on.

We will share this Bible study to this point, may God bless everyone!
