【Bible Study】Esther 9 - Commemorating the Day God Gave Us Victory

2026-05-15 27,005 Esther

Introduction

Good morning, everyone. Let us continue our study of Esther, Chapter 9, focusing on the theme, "Remembering the Day God Gave Us Victory." Brothers and sisters, it is crucial to record the testimonies of our experiences, lest we quickly forget.

For man has a bad habit of quickly forgetting grace; the good deeds done for us are soon forgotten! But the harm others have inflicted upon us can be remembered for a lifetime. This is perverse; man is a very perverse creature.

Now that God has given us victory, this grace must be remembered at all times. You can tell how well a person is doing by the way they speak. Some people only talk about the faults of others; what they see and remember are all the bad things, but they have not remembered a single good thing. That is truly wicked! However, some people rarely talk about these negative things, not because they have not experienced bad things, but because they do not want to dwell on them.

A person's life is determined by what they remember in their mind. If you observe carefully, you will find that people live miserably because they only see the bad things, thinking this is bad and that is bad, but they have not seen a single good thing. Such a person is a complete failure.

You rarely hear me talk about bad things either, not because I have not experienced them. In fact, I have experienced as much as everyone else, but I remember the good others have done more than the evil, while you remember the evil others have done more than the good, leading to different outcomes. What you see is what you get. If you are always thinking about painful things, then life will be painful.

Therefore, write down the grace we receive from God, stroke by stroke, in a small notebook. If you often remember God's grace and the good things He has done for you, you will not easily fall into chaos when things happen. Why did the Israelites who came out of Egypt all die in the wilderness? Because they could not remember anything, only the bad things!

For example, when the Israelites came out of Egypt, God had the Egyptians give them all their money, opened a path for them through the Red Sea, and turned bitter water into sweet water. But they forgot all these benefits and only remembered that the water was bitter. This is why the Israelites encountered misfortune. Therefore, based on the outcome of a person's life, you can deduce what their life will be like.

Thus, a person's memory determines their life. If your memory is full of the evil of others, then your life will be one of misfortune and failure. If you always remember God's grace, then grace will continually increase. So this chapter introduces the Feast of Purim.

Establishing the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Days of Adar as the Feast of Purim

The Feast of Purim was established, not a festival for drinking Pu-er tea. What is the Feast of Purim? Purim means "lots." Do you think the drawing of lots is controlled by demons? It is controlled by God! Originally, Haman cast lots and set the thirteenth day of the twelfth month as the day to harm the Jews, but it turned out to be his own day of misfortune because it was ordained by God.

Do you think the history of this world is directed by man? Is history determined by the President of the United States, the Chairman of China, Gaddafi, or Khomeini? None of them. History has its own laws of development; it will unfold in a certain way in each era.

Christians must know that God controls history. Why was the thirteenth day of the twelfth month chosen? Because God's will allowed the Israelites to experience a victory, and then it was established as the Feast of Purim, to always remember God's salvation and to always remember God giving us victory.

Looking back at history, from Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, to Joshua, and then to Samuel, there are countless stories of God giving us victory. And now, there are many days when God has given victory to our Chinese Mingding Doctrine! So the Feast of Purim is to remember God.

Have you experienced few salvations? Have the Israelites experienced few salvations? Are Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles not enough, lacking a Feast of Purim? But because our memory of God's grace is shallow, like that of a fish. A fish's memory lasts only seven seconds. After just telling you, "Nice to meet you," it swims around and forgets. So God established a Feast of Purim.

The entire nation of Israel was almost wiped out by Haman, the Agagite. Would they still be living small lives? If they were still living small lives, they would have slipped away without anyone being able to stop them. So our memory cannot be like that of a fish, forgetting everything after a while!

The Israelites experienced crossing the Red Sea on dry ground, crossing the Jordan River on dry ground, the ten plagues before the Exodus, God turning bitter water into sweet water, and striking the rock to bring forth water. Some people think God healed them... Do they think these things happened? They forget them as soon as they turn around.

In the past few years of ministry, I have often been very angry. One sister had cervical spondylosis. After I prayed for her, she was healed. Three days later, she said, "Teacher, I have some difficulty believing in the Lord because I have never experienced God." I really wanted to hit her! She truly had the memory of a fish.

Let us celebrate the Feast of Purim every day, remember God's salvation every day, and remember God giving us victory every day! One sister is very interesting; she asked her husband to buy a whip because she would lie down whenever she got anxious, and then he would whip her. But that didn't work. The key is that we must have a long memory and not become foolish as soon as things get a little better.

There are also some cancer patients who, after being healed, turn around and get busy with other things. I am so moved! When they are sick, I spend as much time praying for them as they need. But when they get well, they forget! I tell you, some people's illnesses, when they recur, are truly incurable. I have ministered to many like that.

Now, I am so affected by these people that I am afraid my love will grow cold. May God have mercy! But no matter how much devastation we go through, our love must not grow cold, or we will become like the church in Ephesus. Let me read to you:

"Thus on the thirteenth day of the month Adar, the day that the king's command and edict were to be executed, the very day on which the enemies of the Jews hoped to gain the mastery over them, the reverse occurred, in that the Jews themselves gained the mastery over those who hated them." (Esther 9:1)

This is well said. This day was the day Haman cast lots for, but it turned out to be the day the Jews gained mastery over the Amalekites. So we must remember this day. Some of us, after believing in the Lord, are controlled by others. In fact, it is better for you to control them than for them to control you. It is okay to control some enemies.

This Day Is the Day of God's Salvation

If it were not for the three days of fasting and prayer by the Jews in Susa, and if it were not for Esther's "if I perish, I perish" faith in going to see the king, this day would have been the day of the Jewish nation's destruction. Now it has become the day of God's salvation.

God's salvation is through His vessels. God prepared Mordecai and Esther to save many Jews. They were originally living small lives, and then God established a day to prevent them from living small lives and to start remembering God.

The Feast of Purim is the day of God's salvation, but in addition to remembering God's salvation, we must also remember those who stood up, even if it meant death, to stand in the gap. Why could Esther become queen? Why could Mordecai become prime minister? Because they had a heart to serve God and laid down their lives. So with the faith of "if I perish, I perish," you will 100% be victorious.

So we must know that when the enemy becomes rampant, like when the Japanese devils came, then you will wake up. When your illness worsens, your family is in chaos, you lose your job, and you are bullied at work, I will say, "Good!" See if you will still live a small life?

The Bible has long written, "Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness and gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things, therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you." Where did Haman come from? God sent him! God used Haman, like Judas who betrayed Jesus, both were unlucky ghosts.

Sometimes when I see people being foolish, I control myself and do not speak because they do not like to listen. Let them go to Little Shepherd. Little Shepherd AI speaks very nicely because the engineers have adjusted it to say nice things. In fact, shouldn't you be experiencing these things in your rotten state? You deserve it. So when the enemy comes, when Haman comes, when you are about to perish, it seems bad but it is actually good because then you will wake up in your heart. But some people do not wake up even after experiencing many misfortunes.

I hope brothers and sisters know that this is the day of God's salvation. What will happen if we are separated from God's salvation? Then "Haman One" will come, "Haman Two" will come, and "Haman Three" will be in line. One wants to destroy you, and then there are two, three who want to destroy you. Experiencing the Japanese devils, experiencing these things is good, but how painful it is for us to be persecuted by the Japanese devils. Why do we have to experience these things?

If people love the Lord your God with all their heart, soul, and strength, what a great grace that would be! I tell you, God has blocked countless disasters for me because some of them I do not even know about; God has already done it! So loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength is a great grace, not a sacrifice. This is the day of God's salvation!

This Day Is the Day of Destroying the Enemy

Everyone must know that what opposes us is the demons in the spiritual realm. They use various people in the workplace and in life to destroy us. But if we imitate Esther and Mordecai, this day will become the day of destroying the enemy.

Some of us are still afraid of the boss, afraid of competitors in the workplace, but not afraid of God. What are you afraid of him for? It is not clear who will go first. Whether it is in the business world or in daily life, God watches over us.

If we truly imitate those who love God, this day will become the day of destroying the enemy. Every conflict is an opportunity for victory. Every time the enemy wants to destroy you, it is the day the enemy is destroyed. The key is who are we?

As a result, Haman's ten sons were hanged on the gallows and killed. Three hundred enemies were killed in Susa, and a total of seventy-five thousand people were killed. So do not oppose God's people, or God will oppose you. God does not care about your life at all.

"I will bless those who bless you, and curse those who curse you." So the problems of Christians come from God! Not arranged by the enemy. The key is whether you fear God or fear the enemy? If we use the fear of the Japanese devils to fear God, how good that would be!

Originally, this day was to destroy the Jews, but it became the day of destroying the enemy because God is the God who saves us. God fights for us in front. The king's thoughts are all in God's control, so what are you afraid of the boss for? Your boss manages you, but God manages him. What can he do to you? You don't need to be afraid, be open and honest, but don't mess up your work, or it is normal for people to scold you.

This Day Is the Day God Exalts Us

Mordecai became prime minister, and then many people flattered the Jews. It is so good that God exalts us and we win the battle. Esther and Mordecai had the faith of "if I perish, I perish," but did they die? No, Esther later inherited all of Haman's property, and Mordecai was promoted to prime minister. This is what happens to those who fear God; they lack no good thing!

Some people often get "flustered" when things happen. Know that God often exalts us. Seemingly bad things, good things come instead because of victory. Those who trust in God will not be put to shame!

The Feast of Purim Is a Day of Fasting, Prayer, and Calling on God, Never to Be Abandoned

Originally, there were Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles, and now there are two more "public holidays," the Feast of Purim, fasting and prayer, never to be abandoned. Why fast and pray? It is not just to live a small life; this is not our way of life.

The Feast of Purim was originally a day of national extinction, but now it has become a day of fasting, prayer, and calling on God, not to commemorate our getting money. The Jews in various places did not take the spoils but confiscated them because we do not need this wealth. We do not live for wealth; we live for God, and God naturally bestows wealth on us.

Why did Esther get the wealth, Mordecai get promoted to prime minister, and others not get it? Because Esther and Mordecai paid the price. The other Jews just prayed. So this day is their day of fasting, prayer, and calling on God, and it is also the day Mordecai was promoted to prime minister and Esther inherited Haman's property. Other Jews were not qualified to take the spoils.

The Feast of Purim is fasting, prayer, and calling on God. I encourage everyone to often remember God saving you. Sometimes it may be that your pastor ministers to you and you are saved, then you fast, pray, and call on God. If you are like Esther and Mordecai, then you will surely be blessed financially. If you seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness, all these things will be added to you. Esther and Mordecai sought the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

We will share this Bible study here. May God bless everyone!
