【Bible Study】Zechariah Summary

2025-08-15 34 Zechariah

Introduction

Good day to all. We have finally completed our study of the Book of Zechariah. I believe this book reveals God's grand plan in eternity. In essence, man's choice is either to obey God or disobey Him.

After Zechariah revealed God's plan in eternity, how do we summarise it? It is about building the temple, building the church! And how do we build the church? By bringing treasures into God's Kingdom. God will use His chosen treasures to build a glorious church. And who are these treasures? Those who are holy to the Lord, those who trust in God are holy to the Lord.

The church, through the blood of the Lord Jesus, establishes a covenant for us. Jesus is the "anointed one" spoken of in the scriptures. But many Christians have a great confusion, thinking that Jesus' precious blood was shed for them, which is a preposterous logic. They are not treasures in God's eyes and often treat Jesus Christ as a rag, wiping once and discarding.

In fact, those who build the church are those who trust in the Lord and triumph in battle, while the rest are all destroyed. In the Book of Zechariah, a very shocking thing is described, that God destroys those shepherds He spoke of, hence "strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered."

Later, upon careful consideration, we discovered that those who serve God merely to cope with Him are bound to encounter problems because God does not want such shepherds. This is also closely related to the phenomena we have observed.

Therefore, this book reveals God's grand plan in eternity. We must be careful not to be ignorant! Do you think God is love, and then He puts rubbish into the church? No! We must learn to be treasures in God's eyes. Now, I will lead everyone to review the Book of Zechariah from the first chapter to the last.

Chapter 1: Turn to Me, and I Will Turn to You

We know that God has abundant grace, but if people do not turn to God, they cannot receive this grace. God was angry with the ancestors of the Israelites because they abandoned God and turned their hearts to the world. In His fierce anger, God destroyed them, even destroying the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Then God sent prophets to warn them again and again, but they did not listen, and the ending was a tragedy.

God said, "Return to me, and I will return to you." See how abundant our God's grace is! In this chapter, there is also mention of one "riding a horse," who is sent by the Lord to roam the earth and "collect rubbish." If you do not turn to God, you will be taken away by him.

This chapter also describes God's extreme zeal for Zion, how much He desires His people to turn to Him. It is the same even now. When God's people turn to Him, He turns to us, showing how fervent God's heart is! When people turn to God, you will see that God will raise up those who turn to Him in this generation. And what will people do when they turn to God? To build God's glorious church.

Do not get the logic wrong. Do not think that if you love money, you will have money, or that if you want to live well, you will live well. If you are an enemy of God, you cannot live well! Because authority is in God's hands, even the old horse is sent by God to roam the earth.

Chapter 2: God's Intention is to Dwell Among Us

How does God dwell among us? Do not think that God dwells in you, but in His temple, which is God's church. So when we build the church according to God's will, God is among us and in each of us.

Therefore, if you do not build the church but only cultivate alone, God has no way to dwell in you. I clearly say that if you do not build God's temple, do not build God's church, God will not be with you. God does not encourage you to cultivate alone and then be with you; this is impossible!

So in Chapter 2, God is very disappointed with the state of Jerusalem. Why did the Israelites perish? Because even after being exiled and returning, they were still half-hearted about building God's temple.

If you read the books of Malachi, Nehemiah, and Haggai, you will see how people can be like this. Then God calls His people to turn to Him, to build His temple, so that God can dwell among them, let them see God's glory, and experience God's prosperity. So God revealed His plan to the prophet, and from this plan, you can see thousands of years.

People really need to know that building God's glorious church is the key! But I find that people are particularly concerned about their sons marrying wives and their daughters marrying husbands, all living their own little lives, which is no different from the Israelites who were destroyed in the Old Testament! I am filled with emotion.

So the Book of Revelation and the Book of Zechariah both reveal God's plan in eternity, that God's people come out of the world to be His treasures in His eyes. This is God's greatest plan. God will send Jesus Christ, rise from the dead, plunder the enemy, and then become the anointed one, building His church, and God will dwell among us.

Chapter 3: God Will Remove the Iniquity of This Land in One Day

God does not remove the iniquity of all people, but the iniquity of His chosen people! So in the process of building God's temple, Satan will definitely oppose you. The Bible describes Joshua the high priest as "a brand plucked from the fire." Later, in the New Testament, Paul also quoted, "like a fire-brand snatched from the fire."

I will not elaborate now. If you want to hear more, you can listen to the Bible study recording of Chapter 3. Jesus Christ washes away our filth with His precious blood. This is a lesson of faith. At this time, God speaks again about the faith of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Why did the high priest become "a brand from the fire?" Because he walked the path of the law. It has been proven in the Old Testament that if you rely on the works of the law, you cannot come out of it and will be destroyed! But now many Christians like to walk the path of the law and regulations, but do not understand God's will. This is very common.

Who washed it away? Jesus Christ, the Branch of David. When we read the Bible, we must know that the vine is the church, and the Gentiles, through faith in Jesus Christ, became descendants of Abraham, and the fig tree is the Israelites.

Chapter 4: The Anointed One Will Build God's Temple

Jesus Christ is the anointed one who will build God's temple. If you follow the teachings of Jesus Christ to build God's temple, you will also be able to build God's temple, building God's glorious church. Do not think that this standard is so high that no one can do it. In fact, it is not you who do it, but God Himself.

Jesus Christ became the anointed one, receiving a Mingding Doctrine, a responsibility, an office, to build God's temple. This is called the anointed one, who can build God's temple. So blessed are all those who build God's temple!

In the days of Zechariah, Zerubbabel was anointed to build God's temple. The anointed one relies on the Spirit of God. Even facing mountain-like difficulties, it cannot stop an anointed one who has a Mingding Doctrine and the will to build God's glorious church! That is why we always talk about Mingding Doctrine. Mingding Doctrine is anointing, and anointing is Mingding Doctrine.

So when you have that heart to build God's temple, God's eyes roam the earth, and then He sits on the throne and sees: Oh, I have found one, ten, a hundred people with such a heart. God is pleased with him, and God guarantees that he will be able to build God's temple.

If you use human logic to build God's temple, it is impossible to build it. I am really very grateful to God. The Chinese Mingding Doctrine Church was not built by me, but by God. I just have that will to build God's glorious church according to God's standards, and finally, the completion is God's work. We must not use human logic, thinking that this is impossible. You must know that many things are impossible!

There is an old pastor in Singapore, and I have a good relationship with him. I told him how we build the church because I want my faith to be passed on clearly to edify others. But he said to me, "In Singapore, it is impossible to build a church like you!"

In fact, I still have a pain point in my heart, that some people in Singapore have too many pursuits, but they do not pursue building God's glorious church according to God's word. Do they build churches? Yes, they do. But what kind of church are they building? And what is the benefit of building a church without God's presence?

Chapter 5: God Will Bring a Curse into the House of the Wicked

You are either God's treasure or a wicked person in God's eyes. Do not think that if you have not stolen, robbed, set fire, or killed, you are pleasing to God. If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be accursed! So God sends out curses that go throughout the earth. I am not scaring you; this is Zechariah's revelation of God's great plan, that God will bring a curse into the house of the wicked.

People use their own standards to measure, and the measuring cup is the shape of the wicked throughout the earth. With what measure you measure to others, God will measure to you! God will place the wicked in the place God has prepared for them, which is hell. Of course, there is one layer and eighteen layers of hell, depending on which layer you live in.

Chapter 6: The One Called the Branch of David Will Build the Temple of the Lord

You must know that the content of the Old Testament all points to Jesus Christ, and from Jesus Christ, it points to God's church. So the one called the Branch of David, He took on the office of priest and king, and also bore the honour. Where did this honour come from? It is because He offered Himself, died and died on the cross, and accomplished a great salvation for us.

Chapter 6 says, "Those who are far away will come and build the temple of the Lord." Now it is far enough away from our generation. "Those who are far away will build God's temple together." I am thinking, is this not referring to us? We are in different places, but we have the same vision, the same Mingding Doctrine, which is to build God's glorious church, and then a crown of glory is reserved for us.

Then I want to tell you that in the process of building the church, the old horse walks around on the earth. There is no lack of the old horse's part, no lack of Satan's part! What does this old horse do? It relies on power, talent, flesh, and the swords of its hands to clean up the rubbish of the church. The church hires someone to clean up the rubbish, which is the old horse, Satan.

You must be careful. If your mind is full of the old horse's logical system, full of your own little demands, that is not God's plan, but the plan of the Israelites to perish! That is the mindset of the Israelites who died in the wilderness, and as a result, they were taken away by the old horse.

We must walk the path of Jesus Christ, offering ourselves! Offering ourselves is called being set apart, so overcoming the old horse is overcoming our flesh. Throughout the ages, those who can overcome the old horse, overcome their own flesh, and build God's glorious church are really not the majority.

So I encourage everyone again to listen to this book from beginning to end again. God calls heaven and earth to testify before people and uses human history to testify. These are all clearly in front of us.

Chapter 7: I Called to Them, and They Did Not Listen; In the Future, They Will Call to Me, and I Will Not Listen

Reflect on which side you are on. Why are there so few prayers answered by God in the church? In the early days of building the church, I really could not imagine that our prayers could be answered. Now it is normal for them to be answered, but it is rare for them not to be answered. Thank God!

So when God calls you, do you listen or not? If you do not listen, and you still do a lot of religious activities, such as the "May Crying Fast," God does not want this! Then, after they have done this for so many years, what is the use? Did God listen to their prayers? Is people's hearts really with God? If people's hearts are not with God, nothing they do is useful.

I tell you that what God did to the Israelites, letting them be tossed around among the nations, is a shadow of the Christians now. In the end, God scattered them among the nations. Therefore, God says: Some people have heard God's words, they will be my people, and I will be their God.

Chapter 8: You Must Know God's Will

In this way, from Chapter 1 to Chapter 8, they are all connected. Zechariah switches back and forth between blessings and curses: those whom God likes, He gives them glory; those whom God does not like, He tosses them around among the nations; some are blessed by God, and some are cursed by God; some are raised up by God, and some are destroyed by God. So now they will be my people, and I will be their God. How good is this!

People need to know God's will! You must know that God is extremely zealous for Zion, for His church. I tell you that if people build God's glorious church, then their good is not apart from God. This is the key! Whether you are old or young, as long as you have this heart, it is amazing! So do not see it as strange; this is God's will.

You need to know what God hates and what God likes. When we build God's glorious church, building a temple full of God's presence, people from all nations will come to seek the grace of the Lord. This is what God wants to see.

Chapter 9: The Victorious King and His People

Zechariah saw in a vision the victorious king and his people. The victorious king is Jesus Christ. How did He come? Riding on a donkey's colt, but destroying chariots, warhorses, and those who take up bows and swords. Why? Because Jesus Christ did not rely on swords, spears, or warhorses, but on offering Himself, overcoming His own flesh. Do not think that Jesus Christ was not hard in the flesh. He was also hard and had to overcome His own flesh.

Then, when Jesus Christ was lifted up, the people who looked up to Him would be saved, so the remnant would belong to our God. If you cannot overcome the old horse, cannot overcome your own flesh, cannot overcome the worldly logical system, and still think that asking for these things will get you something, you will not get anything. What you get is corruption.

Then the remaining people are God's people, and then Jesus Christ establishes a covenant with His blood for God's people, and He becomes their guarantee, freeing the captives, liberating the oppressed, and giving double blessings to His people! Then God's people will become mighty warriors, devouring the enemy and trampling on the devil and the enemy. Then God will exalt His people, shepherd and protect His people. How good is this!

Chapter 10: The People Who Rely on God to Fight and Triumph Will All Return

Zechariah saw that God's victorious people would return, that is, return to God's Kingdom. I believe that one day, we will see these people with Mingding Doctrine and love for God pouring into God's Kingdom.

Our Chinese Mingding Doctrine Theology will have a very profound impact on the future generation. What distinguishes us from other theologies is that it systematically discusses how to build God's glorious church and systematically discusses God's grand plan in eternity.

Do not think that God loves the world, so He will save them all, but those who triumph in battle will be able to enter the promised land.

Chapter 11: Foolish Shepherds and Sheep for Slaughter

It is a tragedy for people not to trust in God! Within a month, God removed three shepherds. As for whether this is still the ratio now, we are not sure, but we have indeed seen quite a few. So being a foolish shepherd is really a tragedy, and being a flock of sheep for slaughter is also a tragedy!

Then there are sounds of wailing everywhere, but they are still wondering: Why are our prayers not answered by God? Then they make up stories: Actually, it is not that God does not answer, this is a "blessing in disguise," saying a lot, but it is not God's word at all, nonsense!

Chapter 12: God's People Will Look to the Lord

If you are among a group of foolish shepherds and sheep for slaughter, you must come out of it. You must constantly seek and begin to know God. God is the God who stretches out the heavens, establishes the foundations of the earth, and creates the spirit within man. This is our God.

How does God bring salvation, how does He manifest His works, how does He pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication on His people? People can look to the Lord, look to Jesus Christ who was crucified. So God's people look to the Lord, just like looking to the bronze serpent made by Moses in the wilderness.

Chapter 13: Treasures Are All Refined by Fire

So we experience some things and are refined a little, and we experience some things and are refined a little more. Treasures are all refined by fire, and those that cannot withstand the fire are fake. I tell you that God uses fire to cleanse His church, cleanse His temple, and those who rely on God will not be put to shame.

Chapter 14: In That Day, Those Who Are Holy to the Lord Will Dwell Securely

In that day, that is, the day when Jesus Christ returns. On the day when Jesus Christ returns, we will all be holy to the Lord and reign with Jesus Christ on earth! But those who are not holy to the Lord will be in trouble and will experience many disasters. Those nations that later are willing to submit to God will also worship God. This is the summary of the Book of Zechariah.

I also thank the Lord that after reading this book for so many years, I finally led everyone to study this book after many years, and I finally understood this book. I hope that when I study it again in the future, I can have more light and deeper gains.

But I remind you again that you must know how God's plan in eternity is arranged, that the church is God's wisdom, the church is God's glory, the church is the body of Jesus Christ, and God wants to use the church to unite all things in Jesus Christ. This is the key.

If you do not know God's plan like this and still do things according to your own plan, after a long time, you will definitely know whether it is worthwhile or a loss. In God's eternal plan, we only have the part of obeying God.

What is the most foolish thing in this world? It is to oppose God! What is the smartest thing? It is to follow God's plan, let God's will be accomplished in us, become an anointed one, become someone with Mingding Doctrine, protected, trusting in Him, become a treasure in God's eyes, holy to the Lord, and reign with the Lord in eternity forever, Amen!

We will share this much. May God bless everyone!
