【Bible Study】Esther Chapter 6 - The Enemy Has Begun to Fall

2015-07-03 31,150 Esther Spiritual Timidity Reckless Abandon (of Life) Adversary Thoughts and Intentions Service

God is the Creator of the universe. In His kingdom, there is abundant grace. More than that, God controls the thoughts and intentions of people's hearts, and He is the God who orchestrates opportunities! In this chapter, Pastor Liu Jianyun will lead you to witness the moment when the enemy is defeated, to feel the miraculous power of God in preparing and creating opportunities for Mordecai, to see the glory of God dwelling in people, and to learn from Mordecai's faith in solely looking to and seeking God! No matter the situation, believe that God will surely turn things around, and that God creates opportunities for those who love Him. In all that we do, acknowledge Him, and He will direct our paths.

Questions for reflection:

  • How did the king suddenly remember Mordecai's great deeds? Do you think this was a coincidence or was it the Spirit of God moving the king to do so? What was Haman thinking? What lessons can you learn from Haman about not being arrogant?

  • Did Mordecai see the downfall of the enemy? Did he experience a great reversal in a situation where there seemed to be no opportunity? Are you also looking forward to experiencing this moment of victory?

  • Have you seen moments in your life when the enemy has been defeated? Should you also learn to constantly fight in prayer and rely on God, believing that God will make us the head and not the tail, above and not beneath?

Do not fear, but fight in prayer with faith; the enemy will surely begin to fall

In Esther chapter 6, we can see that the enemy has already begun to fall. When you are praying for someone, a child has a fever that persists, and they are delirious and unresponsive, do not be afraid. Fear is cowardice, and how can cowardice lead to victory? I have often experienced such things. Today, while having a meal with Brother HF, he said, Pastor, I don't think we can hold on anymore. I may not necessarily be able to hold on either, but I am very clear in my heart that if I am cowardly, I will push this child to the brink of death. If I stand firm, I will surely be victorious. I truly hope that the brothers and sisters in our church can understand one thing: my service is a matter of course. I long for you to understand, do you know why? Do not wait for me to urge you again, do not wait until a crisis comes upon you to realize that you do not have the anointing.

During the Bible study on Wednesday, I spoke briefly for ten minutes or so. Everyone knows that I was faster than usual because KR had a fever at that time. I rushed into the 0321 prayer room and prayed with HF and the others. One thing that moved me to tears was that the group of people who had prayed with me for cancer patients all came over and said, Pastor, I will pray with you! The anointing on these people can turn around their own families! If there is sickness in their families, the anointing on them can bring about family transformation and healing. Today, I want to challenge you: if you do not practice often, what will you use to resist sickness? Do not think that the devil will spare you or your family. Are not the people of this world all under the control of the devil? When a crisis suddenly comes upon you, how you serve others today is how God will serve you. As the Bible says, how you treat others is how God will treat you.

Be alert even before the crisis comes

Today, I hope everyone understands what a crisis-filled era we are in, and that a crisis can come upon you and your family in the blink of an eye. This week has been the most difficult week of my ministry. Sister YX broke down on Sunday, and from Sunday to Tuesday, a child named KR had a high fever, which lasted for three nights in a row. I prayed until six o'clock in the morning and almost fainted. Later, other brothers and sisters took over my prayer. I thank God for giving me such a heart to serve, and I long for everyone to imitate my service. In the process of serving, we often do not know how long we have to pray before the crisis can be turned around and the enemy can be defeated. Do you know what this process is like?

During the process of praying for KR, I asked her mother to touch the back of her neck, and her mother said, It's as hot as fire, and there's no sweat at all. I said, Come, let's continue to pray. We prayed repeatedly with our understanding and in the spirit. After a while, I asked, Touch it again, is there any sweat? Her mother still said, No sweat, the skin is still hot. We continued to pray, and suddenly, her mother told me, KR's neck is starting to sweat. This is when the enemy in chapter 6 begins to fall. When the enemy falls, they collapse like a landslide. Then KR's temperature dropped.

On Tuesday night, I led a group of brothers and sisters to continue praying for KR. I was on the verge of collapse, with no time to cry, no time to be sad, only one thought: the enemy must be defeated and must be trampled under my feet. Then her mother told me from 5:30 to 8:00 that KR's neck was sweating. I was relieved. The enemy began to fall, and then the temperature dropped from 39.8°C to 39.6°C, then to 39.2°C, and slowly dropped to 36.2°C. That was really exciting! In fact, brothers and sisters, I share your joy every time you encounter a crisis turned around! When her mother told me that KR's neck was sweating, tears streamed down my face. The God I serve is such a glorious God! He is my greatest doctor, He is all my hope, He is all my everything! Brothers do not love their lives, even unto death. This is the key to victorious service!

No Devilish Adversary Can Stand Against Us; God Will Lift Us Up

God is a God Who Creates Opportunities

We return to Esther, chapter 6. When the adversary falls, God will surely lift us up. The king suddenly remembered to read the chronicles, and the one who brought the book happened to open it to the passage recording how Mordecai had saved the king's life. The opportunity God gives is truly marvelous. Just then, Haman came to see the king, and the king happened to ask him: What should be done for the man the king delights to honor? Haman, thinking only of himself—such is the nature of a proud man—assumed he was the one to receive great honor, not realizing it was his rival who was to be greatly honored (cf. Esther 6:1-9). Then the king ordered Haman to bestow such honor on Mordecai. Only when Haman returned home and confided in his wife and advisors did he realize that to stand against the Jews, to stand against God's people, is to be defeated (cf. Esther 6:10-13).

Be Strong and Courageous, Do Not Give Up, and You Will See God's Glory

Today, I want to tell you: No devilish adversary can stand against us. We wish there were no such crises, but when they come, do not be afraid! When crises come, the devilish adversary cannot stand before God, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (cf. Acts 4:12)—only the name of Jesus Christ! In my past ministry, I can boast to you that all who came to me for prayer for healing were delivered. I am not boasting in my own name, but I am boasting in the glorious God I serve, the true God who created the universe. What do we fear from the adversary? Even if the adversary holds the power of a prime minister, you need not be afraid. Even in the most hopeless of situations, as long as you pray fervently, not giving up until there is a reversal! I do not care about my life; living is such a battle that you will never see the adversary succeed. In whom does the adversary succeed? In those who are fainthearted.

Conclusion: God Will Not Disregard Those Who Pay the Price and Offer Themselves

A person who offers his life to serve God, like Mordecai and Esther, will see the adversary begin to fall. We will see such days as well. I hope that our brothers and sisters will all have such a resolve, and with such a resolve, serve your own families, and with such a resolve, fight the spiritual battle so that you cannot but be a blessing to your family. Amen!

Scripture:

Est 6:1 That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him.
Est 6:2 It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes.
Est 6:3 The king asked, “What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this?” “Nothing has been done for him,” his attendants answered.
Est 6:4 The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the palace to speak to the king about impaling Mordecai on the pole he had set up for him.
Est 6:5 His attendants told him, “Haman is standing in the court.” “Bring him in,” the king ordered.
Est 6:6 So Haman entered, and the king asked him, “What should be done for the man the king delights to honor?” Now Haman thought to himself, “Who is there that the king would rather honor than me?”
Est 6:7 So he answered the king, “For the man the king delights to honor,
Est 6:8 have them bring a royal robe the king has worn and a horse the king has ridden, with a royal crest placed on its head.
Est 6:9 Then let the robe and horse be entrusted to one of the king’s most noble officials. Let them robe the man the king delights to honor, and lead him on the horse through the city streets, proclaiming before him, ‘This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!’”
Est 6:10 “Go at once,” the king commanded Haman. “Get the robe and the horse and do just as you have suggested for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Do not neglect anything you have recommended.”
Est 6:11 So Haman got the robe and the horse. He robed Mordecai, and led him on horseback through the city streets, proclaiming before him, “This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!”
Est 6:12 Afterward Mordecai returned to the king’s gate, but Haman hurried home, with his head covered, in grief and shame.
Est 6:13 Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. His advisors and his wife Zeresh said to him, “Since Mordecai, before whom your downfall has begun, is of Jewish origin, you cannot stand against him—you will surely come to ruin!”
Est 6:14 While they were still talking with him, the king’s eunuchs arrived and hurried Haman away to the banquet Esther had prepared.
