Lessons from Greed and Calamity

Abstract:## The Traps and Warnings of Greed

I believe the Chinese characters invented by us Chinese are a grace from God. The Book of Genesis in the Bible records the story of the Tower of Babel, where God confused people's languages and separated them. Considering the large number of Chinese people, they must have been present during the construction of the Tower of Babel. Chinese characters are very interesting. For example, the character for greed (貪) has a small dot above the character for poverty (贫). How wise! People with a poor heart become greedy. And once people become greedy, it becomes fatal. No matter who you are, when you are greedy, you fall into temptation, into a snare, and into many foolish and harmful desires, which plunge men into ruin and destruction. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. This is the truth!!

1 Review of Last Sunday's Topic: If the Foundations Are Destroyed, What Can the Righteous Do?

Last Sunday, I shared about a person named Elimelech, whose wife was Naomi. Both were decent, good people. However, being a decent, good person does not prevent calamity. Calamity does not discriminate between good and bad people. When it befalls a family, it befalls that family. Elimelech died, and both of his sons died as well. The Bible does not specify how they died, but it was likely not a normal death. It was probably due to calamity, leaving behind three widows. A tragedy!

Speaking of tragedies, the Bible actually records many. Yesterday, one of our sisters asked me about the rule of the cities of refuge recorded in the Book of Numbers. The God of Israel established this rule for Israel, allowing those who accidentally killed someone to flee to a city of refuge and hide, so they could live. The avenger of blood was not allowed to kill the accused in the city of refuge. I have a theological concept that you can consider to see if it aligns with the Bible. I believe that whether someone accidentally kills another, intentionally kills another, or their ox kills someone, these things are not good. Why does the Bible record these things? Because some people live under a curse, and these calamities befall them. However, those who are blessed by God should not encounter such things. I myself hope to be someone who is blessed by God, as described in Deuteronomy 28! Thank God, the Israelites did not obtain these blessings, but through the grace of Jesus Christ, we can boldly claim these blessings! In fact, these blessings are all promised to us by God! Do not misunderstand me. If my death is for the name of Jesus Christ, that is a glorious thing! However, if calamity befalls me for no reason, there is no glory in that. I do not wish to encounter such calamities.

When we understand the root cause behind these calamities, we might superficially think that Elimelech made a wrong decision. If he had not moved his whole family to Moab, these things might not have happened. However, when we delve deeper, it is not just a wrong decision, but that the foundations of his life were flawed.

Building Life's Foundation on God's Word

How one lives their life is a profound question! It is not something that can be figured out by mere guesswork. Every Sunday when we come to church to learn, every time we study the Bible, we are learning this. When we learn, we adjust our way of life, not living according to our own guesswork. In Elimelech's time, it was the era of the Judges, characterized by everyone doing what was right in their own eyes. Everyone lived according to their own desires, and tragedy began to unfold scene by scene. When tragedy strikes, many people think it is because of a wrong decision, regretting this or that. However, the problem lies in the foundation of their lives. What was the foundation of Elimelech's life? It was food! Living just to have something to eat. If life is built on such a foundation, how can one withstand calamity! If he were not an Israelite, it might be understandable, but as an Israelite, with God's promise, God's law, God's ark, and God's revelation, Elimelech completely disregarded God's word, doing what he wanted. Having treasure in his hand, yet not treating it as treasure, is itself the prelude to a tragedy! The Bible uses a non-Israelite, Ruth the Moabitess, as a contrast. Ruth was not an Israelite, but she yearned to obtain the promises of the God of Israel, and as a result, she lived a blessed life! For Elimelech, that was truly ironic! Today, if you are a Christian, you have inherited God's promises, God's law, God's revelation, and not only that, you have also received the power of the Holy Spirit. Then you have a treasure of life in your hand. But if you do not treat this treasure as a treasure, and do not diligently observe and follow God's word, doing what you want, then you are the Elimelech of this generation! That is itself a tragedy! Without a foundation in life, how can one stand firm!

The most foolish act is to build a house without building on a foundation. When it is built and the house collapses, it is not only a waste of effort but also creates ruin. Living without a foundation is just as foolish!

So what is our foundation? It is God's word! How do we know? Look at those who are building according to God's word, and you will know. I teach everyone a lesson: when looking at things, look at the essence. When looking at things, look at the end result! If you examine carefully, you will know that those who believe well in the Lord are not all living under God's protection? Do not use those Christians who are like Elimelech as examples. Such Christians will have the tragedy of Elimelech!

The Bible says, If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? This means that if the foundation is wrong, even good people cannot do much!

Be vigilant, build your life on the right foundation! It will not collapse. Do not be like Elimelech, who ultimately died! Even today, we still have to ask, on what foundation is your life built? This question should be asked often.

Last week, I met someone who was already married and discovered that she had married the wrong person. Now she wants to get a divorce. However, what surprised me was that she still thought she was good! One word: chaos! People without God's word, without God's promises, without God's revelation, without God's presence, without God's blessing, how pathetic! Doing whatever they want according to their own desires, that is the beginning of disaster.

The Bible mentions two types of people: those who are blessed and those who are cursed. What kind of person you become, what kind of life you live, and on what foundation you build your life, is your own choice!

2 Today's Topic: Balaam, the Greedy Prophet

Balaam: A Warning Against Greed

The Elimelech mentioned earlier just died ordinarily. But today I want to lead everyone to look at a very famous figure—Balaam! Balaam's name appears in the Book of Revelation, in the Book of Jude, and also in the Second Book of Peter! That is to say, Balaam is a very typical negative example! Balaam is more famous than Elimelech because he was a very anointed and capable prophet who often had revelations from the word of Jehovah God. Such a person still despised the reality of the spiritual world, despised the commands of Jehovah God, and built his foundation on the foundation of empty wealth! As a result, he wanted to live a carefree life, but died sooner and faster. From the start of greed for money to death was only within a short year! Alas, poor man, if the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do! It proves once again how important the foundation is! Think carefully! Balaam's death was more abnormal than Elimelech's. He was killed by the swords of the Israelite soldiers.

Today, let us look at this fallen, greedy prophet Balaam!

3 Today's Scripture: 1 Timothy 6:9-10

6:9 But those who want to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains.

4 Prayer – Prayer to Remove Greed!

…..

In the name of the Lord Jesus, Amen!

5 Greed is Something Everyone Needs to Deal With

Everyone must remember that when greed starts, it is when tragedy is about to occur! Do not think that being lacking gives us a reason to be greedy, nor think that by being greedy, we can get some benefits, or live a better life. If you look carefully, you will know that greedy people do not live well. Greedy people always feel poor and feel like they do not have enough. No amount of money can fill greed. They always feel insecure and are constantly building a wall of security with money. But that is trapping themselves in a false foundation of vanity. In fact, that is the work of an evil spirit. This greedy evil spirit directly leads people into ruin and destruction. Many people do not read the Bible and do not know this truth, so they follow their own desires and embark on the path of destruction. In our generation, corrupt officials are falling from grace everywhere. Singapore has the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau. Hong Kong has the Independent Commission Against Corruption. China has also embarked on the construction of a political mechanism to combat corruption. It is said that China's corruption index has improved this year compared to last year. It is said that many high-end restaurants, high-end wines, and high-end clubs in China have closed down. In fact, people can still live very comfortably and happily without these things. However, because of greed, they constantly dig traps and graves for themselves until they die inside. Not only are there corrupt officials, but there are also corrupt prophets and corrupt pastors. So do not be surprised to find a corrupt pastor and think that the Lord Jesus is not trustworthy. In fact, the Bible has long told us that greed is something we need to deal with. Some deal with it better, and some do not overcome it and become corrupt prophets and corrupt pastors. Do not be surprised. Our God has never hidden anything. If there are corrupt prophets, it is written in the Bible to let us learn from them as negative examples. It is precisely because of this that we say God is faithful. Our God does not only say good things and hide the bad things. Our God puts the good and bad things before us, so we can learn to choose what kind of people to be! In our generation, we must be careful. Some things cannot all be believed. In fact, even judges cannot be trusted. Who knows that the judge who convicted the pastor was also corrupt? We do not know these things, so let us not talk nonsense and judge others. The complexity inside may be beyond our understanding. However, we ourselves must be careful not to fall into greed!

The Price of Greed and God's Provision

Greed is a very deep subject. Recently, a billionaire with a net worth of 40 billion, Liu Han, was arrested. What kind of mentality drives people to pursue wealth, even to the point of needing to buy arms to protect themselves? In the end, not only can they not protect themselves, but they are also trapped inside. I do not know if this money is a blessing or a curse. But now it seems that these 40 billion cannot save his life. It is not just him. A group of 36 people were arrested together. I think it is hard to say how these 36 people will spend the rest of their lives. People without security in their hearts, people who always feel lacking, that is greed! I thank God that He has given me a feeling of not lacking. I feel that I am not lacking today, and I know that I will not lack in my life. How good this feeling is! It is not just a false feeling, because my God is a living God. His eyes are always on me, meeting all my needs! With God, there is no need to be greedy, and one can still live abundantly! Look, those among us who believe in the Lord, their personal lives, finances, and work have all been transformed! Last Friday, during Bible study, a brother testified that his salary had increased again by a large margin. Recently, I told everyone the revelation I received in prayer, saying that God was going to bless us materially again, and as a result, this happened. But I am also worried that such a declaration will stir up greed in people's hearts! To those who do not have jobs, I tell you, you do not need to ask people for favors or give gifts. God will surely give you a good job with high pay! Our God is a God of abundance.

In fact, does a person really need so much money in life? No. God will provide whatever is needed. God is the God who provides everything for us, and I will never lack in my life! How good it is to say this! In fact, people are often deceived by their own feelings. Feeling that there is not enough money is the result of the devil's work. The devil deceives people and puts them in ruin.

Tell the person next to you: With the Lord Jesus as our God, you and I will never lack in our lives!

This is true. My mother only has a little over a thousand dollars a month, and she still tithes, but she lives well and never feels lacking. She even has savings every month. Someone about her age has nearly ten thousand dollars a month, but always feels lacking. Believing in the Lord will bring such an effect! It is not because of anything, but because God blesses my mother. Greed does not solve the lack. Greed also traps people in vanity. Greed also puts people in pain.

The Fall of Balaam, the Greedy Prophet

I will read a passage of Scripture to everyone. Do not fall asleep, listen carefully! After listening and declaring it, this promise is yours. If you fall asleep and lose the promise, do not blame me. Matthew 6:24-33 Mat 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” (Mammon means wealth) Mat 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Mat 6:26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Mat 6:27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? (or add a cubit to your height?) Mat 6:28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Mat 6:29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. Mat 6:30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? Mat 6:31 So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' Mat 6:32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. Mat 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

With God, I will never lack in my life, and God will surely provide all that I need. Tell the person next to you: Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Balaam, whom we are talking about today, was a prophet of Jehovah God. He clearly knew that Jehovah God is a rich God. He clearly knew that Jehovah God can supply all our living needs and enable us to live with dignity and glory. In fact, he did not lack anything. But when he saw gold and saw the temptation of money, greed was stirred up. He could have lived well, but once greed was stirred up, he was one step away from death! Do you think this is clever or foolish?

I think Liu Han, the rich man who was arrested, must not be feeling good in his heart right now. Thinking about the glorious days he had along the way, the days when he could control everything, how did he end up in such a state today? Who does he earn the money for?

What was this greedy prophet Balaam thinking in the moment before he was killed? We should regret it! Brothers and sisters, be careful! Even a prophet Balaam with such anointing can be hooked by greed if he is not careful, shouldn't you and I be even more careful?

Let us take a look at the fall of Balaam, the greedy prophet!

6 The Fall of Balaam, the Greedy Prophet

Let us take a look at the fall of Balaam, the Greedy Prophet!

Balaam's Greed and the Road to Ruin

Balaam had it easy. He lacked for nothing. He was a prophet of Jehovah God, highly anointed and powerful. Many came to him for counsel, and God responded through Balaam. But one day, a king, Balak, king of Moab, approached Balaam with a string of glittering gold. This gold stirred up Balaam's greed. He saw not gold, but a grand house, a fancy car, no, a sports car... His heart took him to a large, beautiful house, into a bathroom with a shiny, luxurious showerhead. Isn't this the bathroom I've always dreamed of? Finally, I have the money to install such a fixture! His heart then led him to a Ferrari with doors that opened upwards. Look at the steering wheel, the dashboard, such beautiful design! Ah! And a beautiful woman riding beside me, how impressive! So many eyes on me, filled with envy! The gold transformed into a high-end home theater, a high-end TV, 60 inches, no, 70 inches...

Balak's men, seeing Balaam's state, shook him. Wake up, wake up! We're here to ask you to curse Israel. Curse Israel for us, and we'll give you the money. Balaam seemed to sober up. What? Curse Israel? Aren't they the chosen people of my God Jehovah? That won't do. I'm a professional prophet! I say what Jehovah God says! Wait, I'll inquire of my God! Balaam began to pray, God, can I go? God said, No! Balaam's mind began to conjure up the previous scenes. Oh, what a good opportunity to make money. God, can't you see? Didn't I say I'd say whatever tell me? I won't say anything random. Balaam asked God again, Can I go? God said, No! Oh, I've never seen so much gold! Isn't this a great opportunity? God, I'm your prophet. Look at where I live, what I wear, it doesn't glorify your name. If I go, just this once, make money, I can glorify your name! God, are you mistaken? Think again, it's such a good opportunity! Look, I only have that inconspicuous little donkey. It's so embarrassing. I don't want to embarrass you! If I had money, I could get a magnificent steed, how majestic, how glorious! At least you'd benefit too! God, can I go? This time God said, You can go! Go then! Go to your death! At this point, no matter how Balaam promised to say whatever God said, in fact, Balaam's heart had already sealed Balaam's fate! That greed had already been set in motion, had already fallen into the devil's trap!

Brothers and sisters, we must be careful. The glory of our God is not because you carry a designer bag, that God is glorified. Nor because you drive a fancy car. Nor even because you move into a large house! God is even less glorified because your bathroom faucet is gold-plated! Brothers and sisters, we must return to the Bible to see how God is glorified through us. When we cast out demons in the name of the Lord Jesus, and the demons are cast out, and people's lives are liberated, those who cannot sleep can sleep, those who cannot be healed are healed, the name of God is glorified! When we transform people's lives through the power of God, the name of God is glorified! To this day, the teachings of Balaam, Balaam's greedy eyes, often appear in the mouths of God's servants. Everyone, be careful!

Imitate Paul, Stay Away from Greed

We, as priests of the living God, must imitate the Apostle Paul. Phl 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. Phl 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. Phl 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Phl 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

Don't be foolish. Money is not our life, houses are not our life, cars are not our life. The Lord Jesus Christ is our life! We seek not what we may get, we also do not envy any glory and wealth. We seek to gain Jesus Christ! In Jesus Christ, not only do we gain life, but we also gain all the fullness in Jesus Christ! We shall not lack! Amen!

Did Balaam not understand? He understood. How could God's prophet not understand! But Balaam began to look for biblical verses to support his behavior, his greed. It started to look for a theological theory to support his actions. This is what is harmful! Don't think that the greed of the prophet Balaam is expressed so directly. It is packaged, a set of theological system! Very deceptive. So in Revelation, the angel of God wrote to a church. Saying this:

Rev 2:12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; Rev 2:13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. Rev 2:14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. Rev 2:15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Rev 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
To this day, I remind everyone, and I hope everyone will remind me, may the Holy Spirit often illuminate our inner thoughts and intentions, remove the greed within us, and the twisted word of life preached because of the greed of the preachers! The harm is great!

Balaam's Teaching and the Church's Awakening

Speaking of this, I want to tell everyone that the priest of the living God is to eat the priest's food. If we return to the Old Testament Leviticus, and see God's will, God hopes that the Levites, the descendants of Aaron who are priests, will devote themselves to service. Do your best in your duty. It is not in God's will for priests to do some business, make some money, support themselves, and not take the priest's salary. On the surface, it seems like the church has saved money, but it is not God's will. Some argue that Paul was like this, working and serving at the same time. In fact, that was not Paul's original intention. God's will is that we pastors should concentrate on serving. I have rejected some invitations for me to preach. In fact, every time I preach, for one hour, the preaching fee I receive, they call it love offering, it is an unwritten rule, it is 200 yuan. Some famous pastors have preaching fees as high as 1,000 yuan. But I think I still want to honestly do my duty among us. In fact, on the surface, it is also difficult to distinguish whether it is because of greed or because of the burden of serving. Pastor Zhou and his wife Zhou advised me that you must take the church's salary. Don't not take your salary just because you have money. If you don't take your salary, your level of commitment will definitely have a gap in your thinking! I agree with this statement. I have seen pastors who do not take church salaries. They really like to leave whenever they want. They like to do their own business whenever they want to do their own business. Halfway through the meeting, they leave to pick up their wives. Because he said to himself, anyway, I don't get paid. I'm a volunteer. In fact, there is also a bit of Balaam's teaching here!

Having said that, let's continue talking about Balaam. As a result, this Balaam got on the donkey and left. God sent an angel to stop Balaam from going to his death. On the way, God opened the eyes of the donkey, so that it could see the angel holding a knife. He dodged for his master. As a result, Balaam slapped the donkey hard. The donkey spoke! Don't think this is a myth. The donkey speaks, not because of the donkey, but because God can use the donkey's mouth to warn Balaam that you are walking the road to death! God does not want Balaam to walk the road to death! Just like that, Balaam, insisted on going to Balak with a stiff neck. He couldn't be stopped.

Today, it is the same. Do you know how many times God has stopped those pastors who are walking the path of Balaam for the sake of greed? God is truly a merciful and loving God! If he doesn't stop them, they will fall into the end of Balaam's life! Don't look at the surface, you can't see it on the surface. But God is the God who examines people's hearts.

Balaam went. As a result, three times in a row, he said whatever God said. All three times were to bless Israel! King Balak of Moab was anxious. I invited you here, not to bless Israel, but to curse them. Forget it, I won't give you the gold! He didn't get the gold. Balaam made a wasted trip. He left.

Oh, Balaam left, but that string of glittering gold was still in Balaam's heart! Thinking and thinking, how can I get that gold? He frowned and had an idea. I'll go to King Balak of Moab, and I'll give him an idea. Although I can't curse Israel through Jehovah God, I know what Israel's God Jehovah hates most. As a result, he went and gave Balak a trick. Let Moabite women seduce Israeli men, commit adultery, and worship idols! This was terrible! God's anger came upon the Israelites. A lot of people died all of a sudden!

Speaking of this, we must think about what is the first thing that happens when Balaam's teaching enters the church? Is adultery. The church must resist Balaam's teaching, and the church must resist the spirit of adultery!

See the Essence of Life - Always Be Content

Did Balaam get the gold? The Bible doesn't say whether he got it or not. But when Moses led Israel to attack the Midianites, he killed Balaam with a knife in the Midianite camp! This is the greedy end of Balaam, a famous prophet. It is true that people die for wealth and birds die for food. Don't think that greed will have a good ending. There is no good ending! If Balaam knew that he would die in the Midianite camp, he would not have gone! But Balaam went with a beautiful dream of getting rich, but died in his own choice.

Jud 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. Jud 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; Jud 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Money is spiritual. Don't think that money can bring blessings. More often, money brings disasters through greed. Money can solve some problems. But it cannot solve many problems. If you think you can solve many problems, you will fall into confusion.

6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 2Pe 2:12 But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption; 2Pe 2:13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you; 2Pe 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children: 2Pe 2:15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; 2Pe 2:16 But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet. 2Pe 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever. 2Pe 2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. 2Pe 2:19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. 2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

7 Conclusion: See the Essence of Life - Always Be Content

Psalm 23: God's Promise and the Secret of Contentment

When my grandma was alive, she put a large coffin in the yard. She said, often go in and lie down for a while. You will live healthier. It turns out that when lying in the coffin, thinking about what I will look like when I leave in the future, many things become clear. People's hearts become clear. What's the use of me being greedy for these useless money?

Let's read Psalm 23 together. That is God's promise. Today, when we read, we also accept this promise!
Psm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Psm 23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. Psm 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psm 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Psm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
