Introduction
Today, we continue from our previous session, Mastering Clear Concepts. Today, we will discuss another concept: Seeing the Relationships Between Things, that is, the relationship between one concept and another. Many people's understanding of problems is basically that when concepts are not ambiguous, there is no talk of relationships; when concepts are clear, they can see the relationships between things.
What kind of relationship exists between this concept and another? When we do things, we are often not clear about the impact of one thing on another.
Let me give an example. There is an interesting issue when fitting a door. Before making the door, a wall must be built. If the door opening is made crooked, whether you like it or not, the opening will not be perfectly straight. What happens? For example, if the door frame is a skewed rhombus quadrilateral, the door will not fit because the door is rectangular. The door installer will go to the site to measure the door opening, measuring three dimensions: top, middle, and bottom. They might be the same or different, because one side is skewed. The door is straight, but the opening isn't. What to do? We must be very clear about the relationship between them. The door cannot be larger than the opening; if it is, it won't fit. This relationship means the door can only be smaller, not larger. Typically, after measuring, they will deduct one centimeter because there is a tolerance. If it is too small, a door frame will be installed, providing adjustable space for the door gap. What about the gap in between? A bit of sealant will do.
If you are not clear about this relationship, measurements will be chaotic, the door will not fit, and it will be useless. What is the relationship between the door frame, the door opening, and the door? Things in the world all have deviations. Anyone who has studied machining knows that there is something called tolerance. Without tolerance, things cannot be assembled. For example, a nut must be slightly larger than the screw. Similarly, a two-centimeter screw requires a nut that is slightly larger than the screw so that it can be screwed on.
Relationships Are a Key Factor in Learning
Seeing the relationships between things is a key factor in learning. We will know how things will develop in the future. Newton's laws can precisely calculate the patterns of celestial bodies; there is a relationship of universal gravitation between them that can be calculated. Therefore, when we understand concepts and the relationships between concepts, such as the relationship between the moon and the Earth, it determines the moon's orbit.
Once, we were playing a learning courseware when a sister came in and turned off the microphone, and the courseware could not play. Then we told the sister not to turn off the microphone randomly. Actually, turning off the microphone is not important; what is important is the reaction that occurs after turning it off. For example, during playback, if a sister opens the microphone, there will be a lot of noise, transmitting sounds that should not be transmitted. She dares not turn it off because she was told not to turn it off last time, so she cannot decide this time. She does not know the relationship between things, does not know what the result is after turning it off.
The relationship between things is very important. In any city, you need to know where you are. Take Alibaba as an example. Where is it? If you are a foreigner, you will be very confused. I am at Alibaba, but where in Hangzhou? If you live in that place for a while, riding an electric bike for some time, you will know the relationship between your location and the main road. The ambiguity of your understanding of the relationships between things will lead to confusion.
Learning a clear concept will describe the relationship between one thing and another. We all know very well that there is a switch on the phone. Pressing it for a long time will turn it off. Does the phone have a relationship with the switch? Yes. Driving is the same; for example, parking. The other day, a sister contacted me because her car squeezed against a pillar, because it was too close to the pillar.
People need to use their brains. My steering wheel and the movement of my car, the distance between the car and the pillar, will create a relationship. The pillar is on my right, and the car is tightly against the pillar. My car is deciding to reverse, and I turn the steering wheel clockwise two turns, because I have calculated the relationship between them. I turn clockwise two turns, and the car immediately moves away from the pillar. That is, we understand the parameters of the relationship between things. The pillar is on my right, so I turn the steering wheel clockwise. We usually see the relationship between things when driving. Turning the steering wheel like this produces this effect. If this thing changes, turning the steering wheel a little more to the left will move it further away from the pillar, and you will know the influence of things.
Grasp the Essential Relationships Between People
The same is true for the relationships between people, because you do not understand the relationships between people and things. You will find that a child is a person. If they are a person, we will clearly understand their emotions and temperament. If we grasp the essence of people, we will establish relationships with them. For example, with this child, I want to establish a relationship with him. Without a relationship, I have no way to teach. We must establish this relationship from the beginning. From the beginning, you must predict what reactions he will have in his heart.
To see the relationship between things, there is an essential relationship between people. You must all have judgment. I know what kind of people to say what kind of things to, and I categorize people. If I am not clear, I will throw stones to test the waters, asking natural questions that make people feel comfortable.
After I say this, I know what kind of changes will occur in this person. Pastoring is actually an essential understanding of people and the relationships between people. Pastoring is doing just this. I adjust the parameters, what to say, and what not to say. People must become shrewd. For example, David in the Bible went to Gath and established a relationship with King Achish. How did he establish it? David was very shrewd, clearly knowing what King Achish wanted, what kind of person he was. The things David said and did all gained King Achish's approval.
Whether a person is smart depends on the judgment of people, the judgment of establishing relationships. When I see a person, I will judge their core interests. As long as I talk about these core interests, they will like to chat with you. For example, if this person is an entrepreneur, what problems are entrepreneurs facing now? What is their personal situation? I begin to know their core interests, where the problems lie. I ask those among us who are pastors to have a clear understanding of the problems of pastoring people, and what can be done to break free from control.
Have a Clear Foresight of the Results of Things
We must have a very clear understanding of the results of things. We must know the relationship between concepts and things. We must be result-oriented. I want to do this thing; what is my result? Many people are foolish because they do not have a clear vision of the expected result. Sometimes I get anxious and ask, What are you doing? They cannot explain clearly. What do you want? What purpose do you want to achieve? All must be very clear.
For example, parking is to park in the parking space, without hitting the cars on the left and right. If it is parallel parking, you cannot hit the cars in front and behind. You need to understand the relationship between the change of the steering wheel and the car, not just blindly turning the steering wheel. I have seen many sisters driving. Many people get excited when mentioning female drivers, right? When I see a car being driven poorly, I think, Another female driver. This is just a statistical feeling. Why do I have this feeling? Many female drivers are not clear about the relationships between things. For example, when driving, I do not like blind spots. If other people's blind spots cannot see me, I avoid their blind spots. Such a big road, why go to drive in other people's blind spots?
Our sister drivers should drive well and learn to judge the risk index. When I am here, what is the risk? I often glance at the rearview mirror when driving. Driving is all about the relationship between the road, road conditions, and the car, the judgment of distance and risk. If there is no risk, you can drive hard, but you cannot speed. Finally, the goal is to not get a ticket and not have an accident.
When getting along with people, what is your relationship with your superior? What is your relationship with your peers? Many people get it very messed up. The Chinese are very clear about what relationships are. With relationships, making mistakes is not a big deal; without relationships, making mistakes can be fatal.
I have said these concepts, and the specific applications are ever-changing. What happens when people drink poison? They die. Everyone knows this. If you run a red light while driving, what will happen? There will be a car accident. Not following traffic rules will lead to accidents. We must have a very clear vision of the relationships between things, that is, every time we do something, we must know the impact of this thing on another.
Some people talk nonsense, not knowing what to do, and at the same time, they do not know the impact on things. I want to train everyone to clarify concepts and relationships. What results will changes in each parameter produce? Do not be ignorant. What happens when you pray? Can you pass math? If you do not study math well, can you pass by praying? The chance of passing is probably zero, because prayer does not affect a person's learning of math. Prayer will remove the control in a person. When concepts are clear, the relationships between things become clear.
We must be very clear about spiritual things. Some people are very foolish and lose their temper randomly, the spirit of Little Fire Dragon, strife, anger, rage, which makes people uncomfortable. That is foolishness. If you have a clear judgment on the grasp of the relationship between things, you will understand what I should do? What can I do to achieve the desired effect? This is the purpose of my sharing.
Conclusion
For example, how does this person get blessed? They must understand how to get blessed. Blessing is in God's control. Having a good relationship with God means being blessed. Some people are adorably foolish, making deals with God: I will give you ten yuan, and you help me do this thing. Do you think God is a servant? Even if you give ten thousand, He does not care. It is not like that.
We must clarify things and not get them wrong. Making deals with God, it is good if you are not unlucky. When we come before God, we must believe that God will reward those who seek Him, not that you give God a tip, and God will give you something. Those who are based on works will be cursed. No one can stand before God by relying on works or observing the law, but believing in God is simple before God.
One last example: if someone calls you and asks you to transfer your money to this account, you transfer the money, and the money goes into someone else's account. If you give someone your card number and password, your money will be stolen. You need to know the impact of this thing on another thing, and you will become smarter. If someone knocks on the door and you open it, you open it. There is something missing in your head, how should things be handled? That's all for today's sharing. Thank you all!
