Determination to Uphold the Pure Gospel
Just as engineers must be meticulous in their design work, we Christians must have a rigorous attitude and spirit in our faith.
2. Scripture:
1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!
1:9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!
1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. (Galatians 1:8-10)
3. Prayer
4. Background to the Writing of Galatians—Insisting on Preserving the Pure Gospel
4-1 James—Those of Repute
It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. For Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath. (Acts 15:19)
4-2 Paul’s Uncompromising Attitude
Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain. (Galatians 2:1-3)

6. Faith and Works
3:2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?
3:3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?
3:4 Have you suffered so much for nothing? If it really was for nothing.
3:5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?
3:6 So also Abraham “believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
3:7 Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.
3:8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”
3:9 So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. (Galatians 3:1-9)
