2022-12-16 72,312 Genesis Genesis 14 Genesis Chapter 14 Relying on God Without Complaining The Most High God Dispelling Myths

Introduction

Greetings! Let's delve into a remarkable chapter, Genesis 14. This chapter is truly exceptional, as its theme revolves around: The Most High God has delivered your enemies into your hand! Can you envision such a scenario: no enemies to harass you, none to stand before you, and victory in every battle? Is this a significant matter? Indeed, it is quite serious. Observe the chaos in the world today: one king fighting another, and that king striking back... Every day, we witness and hear of such conflicts. Nations engaging in financial transactions, only to be annihilated or slaughtered shortly after. The world is bewildering.

Over the past three decades, the world has been exceedingly turbulent. What answers can we find? None. Some rely on nuclear weapons, others on various other armaments, hopefully not relying on utter fools. But we, we rely on the Most High God, who delivers our enemies into our hands. This is excellent!

Background of the Passage

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations, that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar. All these joined together in the Valley of Siddim, which is the Salt Sea. Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings that were with him came and attacked the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh Kiriathaim, and the Horites in their Mount Seir, as far as El Paran, which is by the wilderness. Then they turned back and came to En Mishpat (that is, Kadesh), and attacked all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who dwelt in Hazazon Tamar. And the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went out and joined together in battle in the Valley of Siddim against Chedorlaomer king of Elam, with Tidal king of nations, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar—four kings against five. (Genesis 14:1-8)

These were extremely chaotic times, steeped in history. In China, we have the Spring and Autumn period, the Warring States period, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and the Northern and Southern Dynasties. These dynasties were tumultuous, with constant annihilation and slaughter until the present day. Today's world is somewhat bewildering, resembling the era described in the Bible, where four kings defeated five. We often assume that five kings should be stronger than four, but sometimes five is greater than four, and sometimes four is greater than five. It's truly confusing; such is the nature of this era.

I want to describe the background of this story: Lot departed from Abram, moving forward until he reached the city of Sodom, where he was captured by Chedorlaomer. The king of Sodom rebelled against Chedorlaomer. Do you know what rebellion means? It means ceasing to pay protection money. You must pay, you must offer tribute, you must pay taxes – all of which are money, real silver and gold. You must work diligently to pay taxes to Chedorlaomer. But now, I rebel; I will no longer pay protection money. I will keep this protection money for myself, but there is a price to pay.

Everyone must understand the logical system of this world! What is black money? It is money that does not come from legitimate means, money that cannot be clearly accounted for. If Chedorlaomer says it is not black money, then it is not; if he says it is black money, then it is. Where can you find reason in this world? As a result, Lot was captured by Chedorlaomer. Can you imagine the scene? The people of the defeated nation were bound together on a rope, a long string of them, with people riding horses while they walked below. Lot and his wife were among them, all captured, their lives ruined.

Apart from Lot, many people in this world experience this daily. Now, it has befallen Lot. Weren't you pursuing a better life? Now, you don't need to argue with Abram's herdsmen, you don't need to compete with Abram's herdsmen, you don't need to haggle over this or that. Just go to Chedorlaomer and become a slave, no longer your own person. How tragic!

Many people, in their pursuit of a better life, complicate simple matters. They want to make money but end up losing a fortune. They want to buy a nice house but become trapped by the mortgage. They want to invest but become trapped by the investment. Being trapped is bad enough, but some even end up with mountains of debt. I lament this: why don't people realize that the Most High God can protect them? Instead, they complicate matters.

What were Lot and his wife thinking at this moment? The Bible doesn't even bother to record it, doesn't bother to pay attention to them. Let the couple think whatever they want, let them do whatever they want, so be it! Being a slave is nothing great! But, by chance, someone escaped and remembered Abram, running to him in a panic, saying: It's terrible, my master Lot and his wife have been captured, please save them! Abram faced a challenge: You foolish boy, did I tell you to pursue a better life? Why is it so difficult for you to fulfill your Mingding Destiny? This was a difficult situation for Abram, not easy to handle. If you were Abram, what decision would you make? Abram in the Bible made a decision: to rescue them!

Abram actually defeated the four kings. These four kings had defeated the five kings, and Abram defeated the four kings. I ask you, is Abram powerful? He is powerful in this region! Throughout the Middle East, in Syria, Iraq, and even Egypt, everyone knew that Abram was a master, a powerful man! The word spread: the Most High God will deliver Abram's enemies into his hand. What a great reputation! If a person can build such a reputation, what will happen? It's as if God's presence on Abram is more deterrent than a nuclear weapon.

After Abram rescued Lot and the others, the king of Sodom came out. The king of Sodom had not been captured by Chedorlaomer and had fled to the mountains. Later, he came down from the mountains to find Abram. Abram made a very famous decision. From then on, Abram's name was known throughout the region, from Egypt in the south to Syria and Iraq in the north. Everyone knew that Abram was powerful.

God Protects Abram in a Chaotic Era

The Horites, Amalekites, Amorites, Gomorrah, and Sodom were all defeated by Chedorlaomer. Why didn't he attack Abram? And if he had annihilated Mamre, Eshcol, and Aner together, wouldn't that have been the end of it? When would it have been Abram's turn to defeat him? Chedorlaomer's lifelong reputation was ruined by Abram. If you observe Abram closely, you will find that he doesn't fight wars, he doesn't engage in eastern or western expeditions. He has seen through the vanity of this world, he no longer enjoys playing these games. Seizing land, acquiring territory, killing people – he doesn't like doing these things. But if you don't like doing these things, what do you do when people come to attack you? Why didn't they attack Abram's small territory? This is God's protection.

Chedorlaomer was engaged in eastern and western expeditions, but in this chaotic era, could God protect Abram? Yes. Why didn't Chedorlaomer and his kings attack Abram's small territory during their expeditions? Because Chedorlaomer's thoughts were in God's hands. How are his thoughts in God's hands? God can control people's thoughts and intentions with the greatest ease. People are like small toys in God's hands. God makes you think this way, and you cannot think that way; God makes you think that way, and you cannot think this way.

This story is my own fabrication, but I have reason to fabricate it this way. Chedorlaomer thought about attacking Abram, so he led his troops towards Abram. After traveling ten or eight miles, he stopped: Hey, what was I going to do? When we left home, who were we going to attack? Everyone looked at each other: We don't know! King Chedorlaomer, why are you going this way? Yes, why am I going this way? I forgot what I was going to do. Have you ever noticed that this kind of thing is quite common? Sometimes you come out of a room, intending to go to the kitchen. When you get to the kitchen, you say, what was I going to do? What was I going to do? Why is my brain not working well? I've already forgotten. That's how it was with him; whenever he wanted to attack Abram, he would become confused!

I'll tell you how I know this: there are many such accounts in the Bible. When the king of Judah came to the land of Israel, there were many such situations. The Aramean army came to attack Elisha, but they couldn't attack the small thatched house where Elisha lived. It was on the mountaintop, and the Aramean army surrounded Elisha's thatched house, layer upon layer, but they couldn't get up there; they just kept circling around. The reason was simple: God wanted to confuse them, and how could people not be confused?

There is also another situation: the troops that Chedorlaomer led were elite soldiers. Chedorlaomer's army was somewhat like the current American army, one of the most powerful armies in the world. He was leading his troops to attack Abram, and attacking Mamre, Eshcol, and Aner would also affect Abram. But as soon as he left, his horse stumbled, and Chedorlaomer fell off. Then, as he continued, the wheels of his chariot fell off. Then, there was thunder in the sky. In any case, something always happened.

People in that era were different from people in this era. Don't think that these people would say: I am an atheist. When they encountered these things, they would think it was an inauspicious start. They would mutter to themselves: Oh no! Something's wrong, retreat! Go home. As they thought about it at home: attacking the Amorites was smooth; attacking the Amalekites, killing the Horites, was quite smooth; killing the Emim was smooth. Have you noticed that warfare is a very spiritual matter? Don't think that Chedorlaomer doesn't listen to God. He has to listen to God. God protects Abram in a chaotic era.

With our small stature, we cannot protect ourselves. Can you protect yourself? Forget it! You don't even have the final say on when you are born or when you die. You came into this world without your consent; your parents gave birth to you. When did they ever ask for your opinion? Never. There are so many things you can't control. Why must we control our own lives? Besides relying on God, what other path is there? There is no other path.

No matter how chaotic this era is, no matter what kind of era it is, whether it's the new crown or the old crown; and no matter what decisions people make, don't develop the habit of complaining. If you were in the position of a government official, your decisions might not be better than theirs. If it's not your business to interfere, then don't. I often receive complaints from Christians, and I think, here comes another meddler.

We are not qualified to complain. The people I train all feel that they are not qualified to complain; they all feel that if we were to manage this matter, we might not manage it better than others. Doesn't that make sense? What God has made crooked, you cannot straighten. Chedorlaomer was going to attack Sodom and Gomorrah. Can you say: Don't go! You can't interfere. You can only do one thing: God can control people's thoughts, no matter who you are. If this matter affects Abram, what will happen? We know that Abram is powerful! This man is chosen by God, blessed by God. Those who bless Abram will be blessed, and those who curse Abram will be cursed, let alone kill Abram.

God Will Make Abram's Name Great

The occurrence of all things is to fulfill God's will, to prove one thing: that God will make your name great. If Abram wants to make his own name great, God will make his name small. If a person wants to promote his own name, God will destroy that person. Abram pursued God's name, and God made Abram's name great. This name did not come from eastern and western expeditions. Lot was Abram's nephew, and he was captured, but Abram did not say that the boy deserved it. I tell you, if someone has cancer or some other ailment, even though I might scold you, if you really want me to serve you, I will serve you diligently. I don't play games; it's an opportunity to fight demons. Saving you is not the key. In the spiritual world, as long as the demons encounter me, they will be trampled under my feet, rubbed into the ground.

My name is very powerful in the spiritual world, so the demons must know that they cannot touch those who belong to me. Even if they have strayed from their Mingding Destiny and been bullied by demons, if they remember me and come back to me, it doesn't matter. I can still rub the demons into the ground. Abram didn't attack Chedorlaomer for no reason; it was because Chedorlaomer had captured Abram's nephew Lot. No matter what, he was still Abram's nephew. So you must know that those who belong to me cannot be touched. I am Abram.

Abram led three hundred and eighteen household servants. I thought it was three million one hundred and eighty thousand? Or three hundred and eighteen thousand? But it wasn't even thirty thousand! Not even three thousand, only three hundred and eighteen people went to fight four kings. In that era, to defeat these four kings, you would need thirty thousand or fifty thousand soldiers, right? In ancient China, when battles were fought, they would send out three hundred thousand soldiers at a time. When the Qin Dynasty destroyed the Chu Kingdom, they sent out five hundred thousand soldiers, which was very powerful. The four kings couldn't have been just a few cats and dogs going to war, right? But Abram led three hundred and eighteen people to fight them, which sounds like a joke, but it doesn't matter.

I'll tell you how he won: the people in Chedorlaomer's camp were confused because God delivered Chedorlaomer and the four kings into Abram's hands. You need to know how God delivered them! Abram led three hundred and eighteen people, but Chedorlaomer didn't know they were only three hundred and eighteen! In their eyes, it looked like thousands of troops. Abram was very powerful because God delivered the enemy into his hands, and Chedorlaomer's army was confused. You don't see a combative personality in Abram, but he is neither combative nor weak. He doesn't fight for money, but God will surely make him a wealthy man.

Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their food, and went their way. They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. (Genesis 14:11-12)

I want to ask everyone, does Lot have God's protection? No. Will God make Lot's name great? From this chapter of Genesis onwards, it gets even worse. Lot's name sounds a bit embarrassing! God made Abram's name great. His cause was just, and he became famous because he saved his nephew Lot. Who told you to touch my nephew Lot? If you touch my nephew, I will destroy you. Abram is never weak, and he is not doing it for money.

And the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself.” But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the Lord, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich’ (Genesis 14:21-23)

Abram is powerful! He is not doing it for money; he is doing it for his own name. He left behind a good reputation: the Most High God will deliver the enemy into Abram's hands. Abram is a respected prince in God's eyes. Many people just don't know that being Abram is good! Why do I often encourage everyone to be a person with Mingding Destiny? Because being a person with Mingding Destiny means having God's protection. Why would you not want such a good thing? Abram became a respected prince!

Brothers and sisters, don't think that you are very capable. I often say: don't think too highly of yourself. If you think too highly of yourself, you will have problems.

Removing the Myths of Trusting in God

It is not that trusting in God has become a myth, but that trusting in God generates many related myths. Many people think that lying flat is trusting in God, which is pure nonsense. There was a person who went to Poland to pursue a doctorate. From childhood, he had a heart to serve God, but his logic was not Abram's logic. He wrote a long testimony. Why? Because he was terribly troubled by demons and found Chinese Mingding Destiny online. Pastors among us ministered to him, drove out the demons from him, and he transformed from a life of misfortune to a feeling of being blessed. He couldn't find a job before, but recently he not only had interview opportunities but also got the job. After getting the job, he thought it over and wrote a testimony about his experiences from childhood to adulthood.

From childhood, he wanted to serve God and trust in God, but he was filled with confusion and myths from demons. Anyway, I trust in God, so I don't need to do anything, I don't need to study at university, I don't need to study hard for my doctorate, I don't need to do anything well. As a result, he couldn't graduate with his doctorate, was in dire straits, and couldn't do anything well except eat. What do you say about this? This is a myth! Is that called trusting in God? This is not called trusting in God, it's called a myth of trusting in God.

Many Christians trust in God blindly. Abram didn't trust in God like that. Abram raised sheep well, pastored well, and trained his household servants well. He led three hundred and eighteen trained and skilled men from his household. Do you think he spent all day with three hundred and eighteen household servants doing nothing, drinking a little wine, sitting there dumbly, with no hair and a big belly? It wasn't like that. I guess Abram must have been a master in the martial arts world. You have to have some skills to survive in the world! You know, a strong dragon does not cross the river! If you are not a strong dragon, just stay in your hometown. Those who come out to make a living must have the capital to do so! Although Abram didn't like to fight, he definitely didn't skimp on practicing his skills.

Everyone must know for sure that everything we believe in must have a source in the Bible. David was also very powerful. When lions, bears, and tigers came, he didn't fight them like Wu Song fighting a tiger on Jingyang Ridge after drinking a few bowls of wine and getting confused. David was truly powerful and had skills from a young age. If you don't have the ability, you don't even have the qualification to love the world; if you don't have the ability, are you qualified to love God? Not really.

You will find that most of my faith logic is related to the Bible and Genesis. Abram was remarkable in that he trained his household servants very well, but he did not love the world, nor did he cherish his own life. As soon as he said to rush out to fight, all three hundred and eighteen household servants followed him to charge into battle; they all believed that following their leader Abram was no problem because their leader was blessed by the Most High God. The whole world knows it, but they are afraid that his household servants don't know it. When the whole world knows it, and you say: I have been a seasoned veteran in Chinese Mingding, and I don't even know this after a certain point, wouldn't that be troublesome? You have to know.

And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all. (Genesis 14:19-20)

Abram trained his household servants, trained them as they should be, and did everything as it should be done; not only did God deliver you into my hands, but I also really have the ability. I tell everyone, you must rely on the Most High God, and if you are a lawyer, be a resounding lawyer; if you are in finance or accounting, be a resounding accountant; God will surely lift you up among all nations, because God's will is for you to be above all the nations of the world. If you are a programmer, be a resounding programmer, definitely not a half-baked one or a bottom of the barrel.

Some people don't even have a bottom of the barrel. What water can a bottomless barrel hold? Just muddling through. If you don't have that level of skill, practice hard. If you are an entrepreneur, be a good entrepreneur, don't talk nonsense. You have to make a name for yourself in this market, don't make a fool of yourself. Do you understand the Northeast dialect? Look at that foolish appearance. Be a resounding engineer, a resounding lawyer, a resounding entrepreneur, a resounding teacher, don't just muddle through. Can muddling through solve the problem? The body may be disabled, but the spirit cannot be.

All of our brothers and sisters must tell themselves that your potential has not been fully released. You can be like Abram, you can be like elite soldiers, you can be a resounding engineer, a resounding lawyer, a resounding entrepreneur, a resounding student. Abram did it this way. Don't get confused. Do you think you are four kings or five kings, you are the king who gets beaten. Can you be a resounding Christian? God will deliver your enemies into your hands. You say: That decision is too difficult. What's so difficult? How difficult is it to trust in God? Trusting in God is very simple!

Even if I am a pork seller, I want to be a resounding pork seller. Even if I am selling meat, when I shout, the whole market hears me, like singing in a play. Can you shout well? People look forward to your shouting every day, so that the place has some vitality. Don't think that today's internet celebrities are something amazing. Today's internet celebrities are just the small stalls and shops of the past shouting: Selling pork! That's about it. If you let me sell, I can really give you a segment. What's wrong with selling pork? I'll make up two segments, today there's a new segment, tomorrow there's another new segment, you can come and watch the fun even if you don't buy. How come this guy sells pork like he's telling jokes. If you sell tofu, shout: Selling tofu! Everyone finds it very flavorful. People say: That's the meat stall, that's the tofu stall, you become famous when people talk about you. Now the shouting has gone online.

Train yourself to have skills, don't make yourself unqualified to even love the world, let alone love God? Nonsense. I tell you, this week we are going to talk about the testimony of this person: getting a job, that's what God gave him. His pastor worked very hard to train him. Why? Because his mind was full of paste! You say that after the paste dries, it becomes a scab. It's so difficult to peel off the scab of the paste and then灌上 a new logical system! But thank God, those who come among us are blessed.

Brothers and sisters, you must know for sure that those who bless Abram will be blessed, and those who curse Abram will be cursed. The body of Jesus Christ, which is the victorious church today, has already been brewing in Abram's body. At that time, Abram had the appearance of victory. Not only that, but Abram also formed an alliance with Mamre, Eshcol, and Aner. An alliance means that if someone hits you, I hit him. When someone hits me, you also hit him with me, beat him up, that's about what it means. Don't be silly, don't think like this: Mamre doesn't believe in God, Eshcol doesn't believe in God, Aner doesn't believe in God, I won't form an alliance with him. I tell everyone, Abram formed an alliance.

Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, for he was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner. These were allied with Abram. (Genesis 14:13)

Don't think you are more powerful than Abram. Everyone thinks that blessing me is giving me money or something, no need. You follow me, walk the path of Abram, that is called blessing. So everyone must remove all kinds of myths. Don't think that God has already delivered the enemy into my hands, so I will ignore you. Mamre, Eshcol, what are you guys...... It would be silly to think like that. I want to tell everyone that the most terrible believer is a Christian, and the most terrible thing is being confused in Jesus Christ. On the surface, they are Christians, but in their bones, they are confused, which is troublesome.

The thing you believe in is not Jesus, you believe in confusion. What I mean is, don't get it wrong to rely on God, you have to be down-to-earth, you have to remember this sentence. There are too many people who live in a daze, especially when people live and feel that they are doing everything right. In fact, you often have to go back to the Bible to see if that's the case or not.

It is God Who Delivered the Enemy into Abram's Hand

Because God delivered the enemy into Abram's hand, when Abram returned victoriously and met Melchizedek, the king of Salem, Abram gave a tenth to Melchizedek. Why? Because all victories must be given to God. He also dedicated that tenth of Lot to God, taken back from Chedorlaomer, whether it was that tenth of all the five kings of Sodom and Gomorrah, it was given to Melchizedek, the king of Salem. It is said that Melchizedek was Shem, the son of Noah, because Shem was still alive in Abram's time. Shem was a person who personally experienced God, and he blessed Abram: Blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand! Abram then offered a tenth.

And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all. (Genesis 14:19-20)

If you acknowledge that it is God who makes you victorious, acknowledge that it is God who delivers your enemies into your hand, any victory, whether it is a victory in business or a victory in something else, you must take out a tenth to dedicate to God. I tell you, you will definitely not suffer a loss. Why did Abram know that it was God who delivered the enemy into his hand? How could he not know when he was fighting? As soon as he saw the enemy, the enemy was confused. Sometimes Abram would just shout a few times, like shouting to sell things, and the armies of Chedorlaomer and the four kings would kill each other. This is really recorded in the Old Testament.

Our brothers and sisters must understand, is it good to be Abram? Of course, it is good to be Abram. It is God who delivers the enemy into Abram's hand. You cannot not know that every time I fight, it is not I who defeat the enemy, it is my God who delivers my enemy into my hand. It's so good to fight relying on God! All those who trust in God and are in the lineage of Abram experience this. David killed Goliath, and when entering the land of Canaan, Caleb killed giants, and Joshua also killed many giants, these all relied on God.

So I tell you, people win, not by chariots, not by horses, not by power, not by talent, but by God. Relying on talent and having talent are definitely not the same thing. Everyone must not forget that the two things I mentioned earlier are not the same thing. We people often make this matter a mess, and we don't study hard from a young age, so we grow up with a muddled brain. Is doing things well and living by doing things well the same thing? Not the same thing. I live by relying on God, but I do things well. I live by relying on God, and I also do things well, and I live by relying on doing things well, these are two different things.

It is your decision to go out to fight, but whether you can win after the fight is what God gives you. There are many of the same businesses, the same conditions, but some people make it, and some people don't. The same battle you go to fight, it looks obviously advantageous but you don't win, this is also very common. In the end, you must know that God makes people victorious.

May God bless everyone!

Genesis Chapter 14 Scripture

14:1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations,
14:2 that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar).
14:3 All these joined together in the Valley of Siddim (that is, the Salt Sea).
14:4 Twelve years they had served Chedorlaomer, but in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
14:5 In the fourteenth year Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him came and defeated the Rephaim in Ashteroth-karnaim, the Zuzim in Ham, the Emim in Shaveh-kiriathaim,
14:6 and the Horites in their Mount Seir as far as El-paran, which is beside the wilderness.
14:7 Then they turned back and came to En-mishpat (that is, Kadesh) and defeated all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites who were dwelling in Hazazon-tamar.
14:8 Then the king of Sodom, the king of Gomorrah, the king of Admah, the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (that is, Zoar) went out, and they drew up for battle in the Valley of Siddim
14:9 with Chedorlaomer king of Elam, Tidal king of nations, Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar, four kings against five.
14:10 Now the Valley of Siddim was full of bitumen pits, and as the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, some fell into them, and the rest fled to the hill country.
14:11 So the enemy took all the possessions of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way.
14:12 They also took Lot, the son of Abram’s brother, who was dwelling in Sodom, and his possessions, and went their way.
14:13 Then one who had escaped came and told Abram the Hebrew, for he was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and of Aner. These were allied with Abram.
14:14 When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, 318 of them, and pursued them as far as Dan.
14:15 And he divided his forces against them by night, he and his servants, and defeated them and pursued them to Hobah, north of Damascus.
14:16 Then he brought back all the possessions, and also brought back his kinsman Lot with his possessions, and the women and the people.
14:17 After his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and the kings who were with him, the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley).
14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.)
14:19 And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;
14:20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
14:21 And the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself.”
14:22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have lifted my hand to the Lord, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,
14:23 that I would not take a thread or a sandal strap or anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’
14:24 I will take nothing but what the young men have eaten, and the share of the men who went with me. Let Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre take their share.”

That's so right. Some Christians really lie down after believing in God, and they don't work hard or do anything. They always think that God will help when they go into battle. For example, in exams, they don't study or review, and then they pray to God, 'I don't rely on chariots or horses, but on the Spirit of the Lord to accomplish things.' It sounds ignorant and insults God's intelligence, wasting God's grace in vain. God, how wronged You must be, raising a group of lazy, arrogant, and ignorant ghosts. Heavens. I really hope more Christians wake up. Believing in God is the beginning of striving to be a better person. Formerly lazy, now diligent; formerly foolish, now becoming wise through God; formerly relying on one's own cunning, now relying on God's honesty; formerly relying on one's own brute force, now listening to God and no longer fighting and grabbing. God, have mercy on us, remove the veil from our hearts, and thank God.
