【Bible Study】Mark 16 - The Lord Jesus is Risen from the Dead, Do You Believe?

2016-02-10 38,345 Mark Evangelism Faith Holy Spirit Signs and Wonders Resurrection of Jesus

What Exactly Are We Believing In? What Do You Believe In?

Many Christians believe that doing good deeds and acts of charity is what believing is all about. Buddhists believe that too, and they often do more good deeds than you do. So, what exactly do Christians believe in? I tell you what Christians believe. You can read carefully in Mark 16. It’s actually to make you understand that we believe in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead!

If you are asked to believe that Jesus rose from the dead, do you believe that Jesus died and rose again on the third day? Do you really believe it? I tell you, the disciples' reactions are not surprising at all. If we lived in that era, we would have the same reaction because we have never seen such a thing! Rising from the dead on the third day, unheard of. Actually, they had seen it before, they had seen Lazarus rise from the dead, but Jesus rising from the dead was beyond their imagination!

If You Believe That Jesus Christ Rose From The Dead, What Difficulties Can You Not Overcome!

Today I encourage brothers and sisters to use your imagination, just believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, what conclusion can be drawn? If Jesus Christ can rise from the dead in three days, the first point is that it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. (John 6:63) Therefore, today we must have some great changes in our concept of life and death. If your concept of life and death changes, then your view of life, your view of work, and your view of everything will change. What will you pursue? You will pursue the One you believe in! The second point is very important: if you believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, this is an unimaginable miracle. If you pray for diseases to be healed, these are all minor matters. If you believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, what difficulties can you not overcome?

Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead is the greatest miracle, and that miracle occupies a very important place in Jesus Christ. The Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. (Mark 16:20) That is, miracles and wonders play a very, very important role in the faith of Jesus Christ! If someone says, Oh, don't pursue miracles. Don't listen to that. The Bible says very clearly that God confirms the word we preach with signs. If there are no miracles, how can it be confirmed?

I tell you, believing in the Lord is believing that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. What does it represent? It represents that Jesus Christ has completely conquered death. The biggest problem in a person's life is death. I have experienced the helplessness of people facing death several times. Once I prayed for a cancer patient who had a 5-6 kilogram tumor on her stomach, which was very terrifying. During the prayer, her pain and many uncomfortable symptoms began to disappear. Later, I taught her about tithing, and then she was about to leave the church. That day, we did not arrange for someone to accompany her in prayer at night, and she passed away the next morning. I really didn't expect it to be so fast! Every night we arranged for people to pray with her to overcome the spirit of death. You think Jesus Christ rose from the dead to overcome the spirit of death. The spirit of death was always there, holding her tightly. Every time we drove out the spirit of death, the spirit of death took her away in one night. She passed away at around eight o'clock in the morning. I was very surprised, really very surprised. It happened so suddenly!

That is to say, defeating the spirit of death is the essence of the faith of Jesus Christ, but once you come out of Jesus Christ, you die very quickly. The second time, it was also a cancer patient. We prayed for her for a year, and she almost died several times, but she came back to life. But in the last ten days or so of her life, she wanted to leave the church and believe in something called Three Redemption Christ. I'm not very clear what that is, and then she passed away a week later. I think Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead is good news of victory over death. That is, when we are in Jesus Christ, you may also say that we will die, but the definition of death is completely different. When our spirit is taken away by God, it is one state, but when it is taken away by a demon, it is another state. If it is taken away by a demon, it is eternal death, but if it is taken away by God, it is eternal life!

Recently, I met another cancer patient, and I taught her family how to lead her father in prayer. Her father had liver cancer. As a result, our sister led her father in prayer that day. She said, God, if it is your will, please take my father away. As soon as she finished praying, her father passed away. That is to say, we must have a brand new understanding of life and death, that it is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. Jesus Christ died for three days, and his spirit entered into him and he lived. It's that simple. If the Spirit of Jesus Christ left his body, in fact, leaving is a very painful process, like a cicada shedding its skin, going down to Hades to conquer death, and then returning from Hades, gaining all authority, and returning to his body, and his body lived again. It turns out that it is the Spirit who gives life! How can we live well? It is that being prosperous in the spirit is the key to solving the problem! How can we be prosperous? Your spirit works with the Spirit of God. Some of our brothers and sisters' parents insist that their children work hard. Can those who work hard solve the problem of the spirit? No. How is it possible to push the child into a curse again? I think this is what I am very surprised about!

Miracles and Wonders Are a Necessary Component of the Faith in Jesus Christ

What is the faith in Jesus Christ without miracles and wonders? Don't ask me, I really don't know what that is. But it is clearly stated in Mark 16 that those who believe will have signs and wonders following them. Then some people say that some Bibles do not have this passage because they really cannot accept it and they have deleted this passage. Thank God, our Bible still has this passage. Later, when I acted according to these words, signs and wonders followed those who believed, which is commonplace among us.

The theme of the Gospels is faith. All four Gospels are talking about faith because Jesus Christ values faith very much. It turns out that faith is the foundation of our faith in Jesus Christ. Without faith, nothing can be done. Therefore, I often see Jesus Christ saying in the four Gospels, O unbelieving and perverse generation! (Luke 9:41); You of little faith! (Matthew 14:31) He often said that. I have never seen Jesus say, You presumptuous believer! or How great is your faith! Jesus never criticized people for their faith being too arrogant! Thank God! I am a madman in faith because great faith is what Jesus wants. Jesus never likes people without faith because faith is the foundation of faith. All four Gospels talk about faith. Do you have faith? Do you want to be a person of faith?

The beginning of this chapter says that these people were all followers of Jesus, and they had also seen Lazarus rise from the dead with their own eyes, and they had also heard Jesus say with their own ears: The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after he is killed, on the third day he will rise. (Mark 9:31) They forgot, they forgot everything! As a result, what did they do on the third day? They went to buy spices, like making a mummy. That's how people are. What's the point of saying anything after death? They completely forgot about the resurrection on the third day. Thank God, they still had the concept of anointing Jesus' body. As a result, when they went to look, it was gone. Jesus' body was no longer there. As a result, they saw an angel sitting there. Their reactions were trembling, astonishment, running away, and fear. Jesus rose from the dead, what were they afraid of? (Mark 16:8)

The young man said to them, Don't be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. (Mark 16:6) Then what are you afraid of? We humans have a natural characteristic, which is that we like things that we can accept. Whenever things that we cannot accept come upon us, we are very afraid. For example, some brothers and sisters also feel very surprised. There is a characteristic. Some time ago, the mother of one of our sisters came to pray with us on a Friday. At that time, we were doing the work of casting out demons and liberation, and at the same time talking about spiritual matters. She was afraid and started trembling there, very scared. When I saw it, I thought, Oh, a good opportunity to liberate her from fear. So I led her in prayer and liberated her from that fear. After I drove the demon of fear out of her, her feeling of fear was greatly reduced, but she still needed to continue to be liberated.

So what is the situation when people have fear and trembling in their spirits today? This is actually a state where a person's spirit is living in death. The spirit of death will bring fear, so today God wants to completely liberate us from fear and trembling, this spirit of death. At this time, they have not been completely liberated. When they began to go out and preach the gospel, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they completely overcame the spirit of death. (Mark 16:19-20). Then they went back and told everyone that the Lord Jesus had risen. But many people did not believe. Mary said that she had seen Jesus rise, but many people did not believe. The rest of the disciples also did not believe (Mark 16:9-13). I tell you that being an unbeliever today is a very natural thing. You don't need to do anything, you are an unbeliever. But to be a believer, you really have to put in some effort because being a believer is a supernatural state.

An unbeliever will be condemned. What is being condemned? It is being sentenced to death. An unbeliever will be sentenced to death. What do they not believe? They do not believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. If you believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, you can overcome death. Do you and I fear death today? It depends on your faith! I am very sincerely telling you today that I feel very good, that is, I am not afraid of death! The best thing in a person's life is not being afraid of death. If you are not even afraid of death, what else are you afraid of? Paul said this: If I leave this world, it is incomparably good, but I am very helpless because I still have tasks to complete in this world. People should not be afraid of death. They are afraid of living. It is still quite hard for people to live in this world, whether you believe in Jesus or not. It is still a bit hard for us in the flesh.

Faith is the theme of the entire gospel. I have encountered some things. After people are blinded by this world, they have no inner faith. I am very surprised that one of our sisters, XH, was healed of her cancer, which is directly related to my praying for her, but this sister and her husband advised their children to work hard. But if we really understand today, our Jesus Christ rose from the dead, this gospel is a gospel that overcomes death, what else can overcome such a gospel? Working hard is not the gospel. How many people who work hard get cancer? How many people who work hard are hit by cars and die? Many people who work hard go down to hell! But our Jesus Christ requires us to have faith. Faith is a treasure, so today I encourage you to hold on to such faith!

Faith: The Key to Receiving Grace!

God has prepared an exceedingly abundant grace for us. Do you know why Jesus Christ valued whether we have faith or not so much? One of the main reasons is that only with faith can you receive the grace God has prepared for you. The grace God has prepared for you is exceedingly abundant, but people are unaware. Faith, and only faith, is the key to obtaining grace!

You might say: Why did God establish such a rule of faith? If we humans have no faith, and act according to worldly concepts, that is the path to death. Yet, some parents prefer their children to walk the path of death. Including our PL sister, in front of her parents, I cast out the demon of depression from her, completely. But what are her parents learning now? They are advising their child not to serve God well, but to focus on her work. PL sister has a colleague who worked diligently, but later jumped off a building. What kind of parents push their own children towards death? But people in this world are so foolish! Today, we must live by faith; faith is the key to receiving God's grace! Why was XH sister's cancer healed? Because of the faith within me! Why did PL sister come out of depression? Because of the faith within me! If not for my faith to draw on God's marvelous grace, where would they be today? If so, I tell you, the miracles God has performed through me, WC brother's lumbar disease being healed, the transformation of the lives of many brothers and sisters among us, and many brothers and sisters coming from very tragic states to where they are today, all because of one thing: faith drawing on God's grace!

If faith can draw on God's grace, that is not just millions or tens of millions of dollars, but priceless grace. If a person abandons the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ for a mere few thousand dollars a month, that is very foolish! Today, I encourage you to stand up and fight for your families. The devil wants to get them, the devil wants to push them to death, and not only push them to death, but also pull you onto the path of death through them, which is not having faith and being unable to receive God's grace. I tell everyone, how abundant is God's grace? God's grace far exceeds our imagination, far exceeds things like making money.

What does the Bible say? By faith, we stand in the grace of God. If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. (Deuteronomy 28:1, 13) Is being at the top and not at the bottom grace? Is being the head and not the tail grace? Is not borrowing money from others, but lending money to others, grace? Yes, it is grace. These are all graces God has prepared for us. Your offspring, your livestock, your children, your family, all blessed, is that grace? Why do people give up such grace and cling to a cursed thing? I tell you, working hard is definitely not the key to solving problems. Those among us who have received grace know this. Look at many of your classmates and colleagues; their lives are very miserable! Today, I tell you, faith can receive God's grace!

Faith is Simple, but Disbelief Leads to Condemnation

Jesus criticized and rebuked them for their disbelief. When Jesus encountered them, He was harsher than this. I can imagine Jesus' words: Jesus who bestows such rich and great grace upon us, this great grace has a glorious name, the name of the children of the eternal God, and it comes with blessings for living in this world. I tell everyone that the grace of Jesus Christ refers to our days in this world, to live out a kind of prosperity and abundance before going to meet the Lord. What a wonderful thing that is!

Jesus reminded them three times that He would rise from the dead, but they did not believe. Even when His resurrection was proclaimed, they did not believe. As a result, Jesus said a word: Whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16) Jesus said in this place: Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. (Mark 16:14) Is having faith so difficult? I find it particularly strange. If faith required you to take out a hundred thousand dollars, it might cost you your life. But faith doesn't cost you a penny; you can receive grace simply by believing, not difficult at all. So, today I tell you, we do not believe in doing good deeds; we believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, having conquered death, and the authority to conquer death is in your and my hands. From now on, we are not afraid of death because of what Jesus Christ has accomplished, and we can come boldly before God. So, Jesus said that faith is a simple matter, and therefore those who do not believe are condemned. If you cannot do such a simple thing, what will you do other than be condemned? Therefore, those who believe enter into the grace of God, and are not condemned, not controlled by the spirit of death.

The Effect of Faith is Miracles!

We used to love our children very much. I definitely believe that PL sister's parents love PL very much, loved her dearly since she was little, but they were very helpless when PL suffered from depression. Fortunately, they met a faithful person like me. If I didn't have faith either, they might look for other faithful people. If they couldn't find a faithful person in the world who could perform miracles, it would be completely over. How tragic! I think I should be considered their savior, but that is the grace I received from Jesus Christ.

The effect of faith is miracles. Today, you and I, having received the grace of faith, will no longer be helpless. Today, you live not by academic achievements, not by work, not by salary, not by anything that can be seen with the eyes or touched with the hands, but by the faith within us. The Bible says very clearly: But my righteous one will live by faith. (Hebrews 10:38) It is very simple. If you want to live, and want to live forever, God will work with those who have faith! God is looking for those who have faith, and He will work with them, with signs following to confirm the preached word.

Here is a very critical matter. Many people say to me: Pastor, perform a miracle for me, and then I will believe in you. I say: You will never see a miracle, because God hates such people. Let's forget about such people. Start walking the path of faith, and miracles and wonders will certainly follow. Today, if you ask me not to believe, to live by working a job and earning a salary, I tell you, I will never do that! Actually, if I were to find a job now, even as a carpenter, I would earn a lot of money. The cost for the master who made the window sill for our house was over two hundred dollars, but he charged eight hundred or a thousand. He worked four hours a day. He said he had been looking for apprentices, but couldn't find any in Singapore. I said, I'll come and learn from you. He was more than ten years older than me, an old man in his seventies, and he seemed pretty good. What I want to say is that making money is not the problem at all. The problem is whether that thing can bring you into blessing.

A faithful person, God will certainly work with him, and miracles and wonders will certainly follow him. Today, I want to challenge everyone. What is the situation without miracles and wonders? I tell you, that is disbelief. I often encounter people who say: I have a cold, it doesn't matter, I can take medicine. I'll pray when I get a disease that doctors can't cure. They don't dare to pray for curable diseases, so I don't think they have the faith for incurable diseases either. A person's faith must be constantly cultivated in daily life. If you often perform miracles in your life, it proves that your faith is true faith! I am a true believer in Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, because I highly value eternal life. I know how real the spiritual realm is. I know that people live because of their spirit! So I think: God, if you let me live in this world, let me live by faith, and let your miracles and wonders follow me, let you work with me, how wonderful that is!

The Key to Evangelism is God's Presence with Them, with Miracles and Wonders Following, Confirming the Word

I think the key to evangelism is spoken of in this place: After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. (Mark 16:19) I think some people preach the gospel by offering free food and drink, and all sorts of things, such as lotteries, games, Karaoke, etc., but these cannot preach the gospel. The key to evangelism is here: The Lord is with them, with miracles and wonders following, confirming the preached word.

Today, if you preach the gospel, go out boldly, because you perform miracles because of your faith, not because of the other person's faith. As long as the other person is willing to accept, as long as the other person is eager, you can release your faith and let miracles and wonders happen in his body. They receive healing, they receive grace, and then confirm the word you preach. It is not that they receive grace, or perhaps they receive a portion, but that we ourselves receive great grace! But still, we are in the process of practicing faith. Therefore, I encourage brothers and sisters not to be stingy, never be stingy, perform more miracles so that people can receive more grace, even if that person does not believe, perhaps he will tell people around him what God has done in him, and those around him may believe.

I think today we need to understand one thing: we no longer preach a helpless gospel, but a hopeful gospel. Bring people into this hope, preach the gospel with miracles and wonders. Yesterday evening, at nine o'clock, a sister contacted me on QQ. Her mind was already very confused. Actually, since she looked at the cemetery, many things she thought about in her mind were things she didn't want to think about. I believe some of us have also had such experiences. When she contacted me, I quickly called her and led her in prayer. After praying, she was fine. This is the power of God, preaching the gospel with miracles and wonders, and then telling those who have experienced miracles and wonders not to build their faith on miracles, but to build their faith on the power of Jesus Christ's resurrection.
