【Bible Study】Job 18-21 - Ways of Knowing Things

2015-09-25 19,374 Job Empowerment Restoration Capacity Epistemology Human Perspective Divine Providence

We all aspire to live well, yet our lives are often filled with confusion, and we find ourselves at a loss when faced with various situations. My brothers and sisters, let us open our spiritual eyes and seek the essence of things from the spiritual realm.

Questions to Ponder

What determines everything that happens around us?

When you view the world's problems with spiritual eyes, what do you see?

What problems are you currently facing? What are your thoughts after reading the following article?

Let's examine the passage in Job chapters 16-21. Here, we have the debate between Job's friends and Job. I believe we can abstract a concept from this debate that can be applied to our lives, which is a person's method of perceiving things.

How People Perceive Things

The way people perceive things is crucial. People observe phenomena, incompletely induce from these phenomena, and summarize to see the patterns within. This is how people usually perceive. In our learning process, we often use incomplete induction. What is incomplete induction?

For example, a wicked person dies miserably, and another wicked person dies miserably. After repeated cycles, one concludes a pattern: wicked people die miserably. Later, some people observe that a person who fears God lives a life of blessing; another person who fears God also lives a life of blessing. After observing three, thirty, or three hundred people, they conclude a rule: those who fear God are blessed in this way!

Where Does Man's Path Come From?

However, what is most perplexing is that there are exceptions to everything. But this is how people learn and perceive. Another problem is that when we summarize a rule and particularly affirm it, we don't know where this rule comes from. If we follow this path, it is the path of man.

Some brothers and sisters say, Pastor, we don't have the problem of discerning good and evil. I'm sure I don't. It's not just you who say you don't. I used to say, I don't as well. Later, I discovered that everyone does. Why? Because it is the root of our ancestors. After Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, their spirits died (Genesis 3:1-19).

After the human spirit dies, what is the way to perceive things? It is to discern good and evil. But what is most perplexing is that there are always exceptions. After applying it in a human way, you will find that some things work, and some things don't. So this problem arises: when you are a righteous person, you don't live well, but you see the wicked living so well. You will be very angry and think, How can this be? I haven't done anything wrong, haven't committed any sins, but I'm not living well, while he has done so many bad things and is living so well. Thus, we enter into confusion (Job 21:5-20).

Today, I tell you that this set of methods for learning and perceiving things, especially when used in matters concerning human life, is wrong.

Observing the Essence of Things with Spiritual Eyes

People must observe the essence of things with spiritual eyes. Why do I often say to everyone: the things of the spiritual realm determine the things of this life? What happens in the spiritual realm is what happens in this world. This is not what I say; it is what the Bible says. The story of Job is not about something happening in the world, not because Job did something, Job didn't do anything. It's not because his friends did something, his friends didn't do anything either. In fact, it's not particularly related to what you and I do. The key lies in the spiritual realm. If suddenly Satan wants to do something to you, then it's troublesome.

What Is Man's Greatest Confusion?

What is our greatest confusion today? It is that many things will happen, but I don't know when they will happen. A classmate of mine is still struggling and frustrated today. Her husband suddenly died not long ago, leaving a lot of problems. She is very confused and working extremely hard. I think if people don't understand the spiritual realm, you don't know when the devil will strike, and you don't know when the devil will start to deal with you. This is man's greatest confusion.

For example, some of us like to travel, go to Bali, Hawaii, Los Angeles, and then post some photos. You think it's good for them to do this. Indeed, going to play is not a sin, and getting married is not a sin either. But the problem is that we must open our spiritual eyes to see this matter. When we walk this path, we start to use human concepts to view this matter, thinking that people should enjoy life. When the devil strikes, we have no way to resist.

Good News: The Resurrection of Jesus, the Power of the Holy Spirit

But today, I tell you good news: Jesus has died for us, has risen for us, and has given us the power of the Holy Spirit! A person who knows the spiritual world can certainly see God's work in him on this earth. From today onwards, I encourage everyone to start looking at things with spiritual eyes. Some people have succeeded in doing some things, while others have not succeeded in doing the same things. In fact, among those who do online sales with Jack Ma, the majority have not succeeded. Can the rules that Jack Ma summarized be used? Actually, they cannot. Can the rules that Ma Huateng (founder of Tencent) summarized be used? Because there is only one successful Ma Huateng, so many people who do the same things as him have not succeeded.

Later, I investigated and found that there are more than 300,000 search engine projects in the world, and in the end, only Google, Baidu, and a few other scattered ones remain. When I was working, one of my bosses wanted to focus on making a search engine, but he didn't succeed either. The majority don't succeed. Constantly summarizing the rules of success is very important.

Standing from the perspective of the spiritual realm, you can see that worldly wealth is actually very spiritual. Don't think that people who love money will have money; don't think that a person who likes to enjoy life will enjoy it. Many people who like to enjoy life don't enjoy it, and those who like money don't have money; but those who don't like money may have money, and those who offer to God enjoy it instead.

We Must Begin to Restore Spiritual Revelation

Read the Bible well, and use God's words to look at our human life! In fact, Job's three friends, including Job, were quite confused. Job saw the wicked prospering, but he still didn't understand what was happening (Job 21:5-20). I think today we must all learn this second point: The Christian faith is a faith of revelation, using the revelation of the Holy Spirit to know things. The Bible says:

Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6)

Once a person has the Spirit of God, he will use the Spirit of God to see things. How God sees, how you see, in the end, you must be very powerful. The Christian faith is an era of the restoration of revelation! This restoration of God's revelation is the restoration of God's power among us.

Learn to Look at Spiritual Problems with Spiritual Eyes

Learn to look at spiritual problems with spiritual eyes. This is the best way for human beings to learn, and it is also the best way for human beings to perceive things.

Your learning and your work are spiritual things, and establishing a family is also a spiritual thing. When we begin to restore using spiritual eyes to look at this world, the strength to solve problems will be released. For example, Brother Wenjie, when he first came to church, he was released, and then he got better. This is a wonderful era of restoring spiritual power, knowledge, and restoring the understanding of the spiritual realm. Fortunately, you and I did not live in the dark ages of the Middle Ages. The darkness of the Middle Ages was an era of human ignorance of God.

Today, I especially thank God for doing the work of restoration among us. We have caught up with a great era! Everyone opens their spiritual eyes to see things. If we are still entangled today, Pastor, your method is not right, you should improve your method. If every day is, This is not right, that is not right. Then we are still not in the spiritual realm. Opening spiritual eyes does not mean that we are detached from the world, but when you observe with spiritual eyes, you will escape the practices of Job's three friends. The eyes of Job's three friends are purely human eyes!

So how many of us use human eyes to look at problems? I only have one percent of spiritual eyes, and ninety-nine percent are still human eyes. We must restore to the way Jesus sees things. For example, one day I was walking on the street, and someone was sick and said, Pastor Liu, come quickly! My servant is about to die. Another person said, Pastor Liu, you don't need to come, I am not worthy, you just need to issue a command. I believe that if there is faith, that person will be well at that time, but the condition is that we are like Jesus (John 4:43-54).

We Must Restore Our Spiritual Eyes, Our Spiritual Abilities

Today, we must restore our spiritual eyes and restore this spiritual ability. Never be satisfied with today's state. Here is a conclusion for everyone: If our God is an all-powerful God, and you have become very good friends with the master who created the universe and upholds all things in the universe, that is, pleasing to Him, can you imagine what the result will be? You will surely live out the glory of God! You will absolutely not lack. There may be a period of time, like Job, being refined for three to five months. Afterwards, although you are as thin as skin and bones, and your teeth are about to fall out, with only skin wrapped around your teeth (Job 19:6-20). But afterwards, God will surely save you from such a situation, and God will surely let you see His glory.

You Must Tenaciously Hold on to What Comes from God

We use spiritual knowledge to explain spiritual things. Understanding things doesn't have to be so stubborn; you don't have to be so stubborn in distinguishing between right and wrong. You must know that if this comes from the revelation of the Spirit of God, then it will never be wrong. Everyone should establish a very good relationship with God and build God's church according to God's words, because God's heart in this generation is definitely not individual, but the church.

If you look carefully at those who build the church with their hearts, from all aspects, in the process of pleasing God, there may be some challenges in the short term, but overall, it is very wonderful: what personal lives gain, the happiness index is absolutely far beyond what is asked or thought. Don't be so stubborn about what comes from man, and you must tenaciously hold on to what comes from God. This is my advice to you.

Understanding God's Plan

To know God's plan and to enter into it is of paramount importance. God's plan is in Jesus Christ! Let us examine:

Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord (Ephesians 3:5-11).

Do you see that? God's heart is the church. All the operations of the dark forces in the world that manifest as disasters, car accidents, tribulations, and much hardship are directly linked to the principalities, powers, and forces of darkness in the air. Today, I bring you good news through the words written by the Apostle Paul:

To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:10).

What must we understand? We must understand the importance of the church. And what is the position of the church?

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church (Ephesians 1:20-22).

Understand that Ephesians is a most excellent book, the fundamental theoretical basis for building the church.

Conclusion: Understand Spiritual Laws, Take Up Spiritual Authority!

Everyone should begin to enter into God's plan: participate in spiritual warfare, walk with God, and trample all the dark forces and powers in the air. These are the very things that confounded Job in that previous era. Today, if you are still unaware that the spiritual realm operates behind the scenes in your workplace, you will not fare well.

The testimony shared by Sister Kexin today is a confirmation of this. When a child is crying and making a fuss, if you look at it with spiritual eyes, it is very simple. Declare: In the name of Jesus, I command the spirit of death to depart and no longer disturb this child. The child will quickly recover. Therefore, if you understand the laws of the spiritual world and take up the spiritual authority of Jesus, what great grace you will receive!
