Good day to you. I trust we can proceed with our discussion on how to conduct oneself and handle matters. Today, we will delve into the third segment of handling matters: understanding the essence of things in the process. I presume no one is excusing themselves for a toilet break at this juncture? Upon your return, would you inquire about the topic of the lecture, having missed it due to your absence? However, I implore you to observe the typing of your peers: understanding the essence of things in the process of handling matters.
Mastering the Method is Merely the First Step
You see, many individuals stagnate at this level. Take, for instance, a master plasterer who applies white plaster, one room after another, ad infinitum. If you were to inquire about the intricacies of plastering, he would likely struggle to articulate it clearly, despite a lifetime of practice. He ekes out a living, but it is a life tinged with a touch of melancholy. Why? Because he persists in simply plastering, ad nauseam. Ceaseless labour, indeed. He finds it difficult to be content.
Just try doing the same thing every day. Today, tomorrow, and the day after, incessantly. Good heavens, what a dreary existence! In the end, a life spent plastering. If I were to remain solely at this level, I would have squandered the essence of being human. Let me reiterate, spending one's life mired in laborious operation is a travesty of human existence, a life lived in vain, an endless cycle of activity.
So, how should one approach it? The approach of an uneducated individual differs from that of an educated, knowledgeable one. For instance, I might clean toilets. As I clean, I discern a pattern. I not only master the method, but also grasp the essence, comprehending the underlying nature of the task. You might ask, Teacher, is there an essence to cleaning toilets? Indeed. Once one unearths the intrinsic essence, contentment ensues. Why are you discontented? Because you are perpetually engaged in arduous labour.
Therefore, life is not just about learning a method, but about learning to think. Thinking, in fact, is a crucial element of being human. If you lack the ability to think, is your life not in vain? Is it not? So, I believe that solving problems is crucial. Work is merely a platform offered to us, a grace.
Chinese Mingding Doctrine is essentially about grasping the essence, a theological system for understanding the nature of things. How is this understanding achieved? Initially, in establishing the church, there was a lack of knowledge. Thankfully, I knew nothing. Had I learned the traditional theological system, I might have been tainted by its apparent knowledge, and it would have been detrimental. I might have simply carried on, resigned to a life of mediocrity. Thankfully, I knew that I knew nothing, so in establishing the church and putting it into practice, I encountered numerous setbacks. Oh dear, problems abounded.
Because I am no ordinary person. Capable, diligent, and driven, I continued to work despite the pain, under the illusion of suffering for the Lord, without truly understanding the essence of things.
In the process of establishing the church, my most defining trait was the awareness of my own ignorance. Knowing that I knew nothing, I embarked on a journey of exploration. I diligently sought to understand the scriptures, engaging in pastoral practice and achieving continuous breakthroughs. This led to the creation of the Chinese Mingding Doctrine. In essence, the Chinese Mingding Doctrine is a theology of pastoral care, a theology of building a church that embodies God's glory.
Whether one experiences enjoyment and joy hinges entirely on the essence. If you comprehend the essence, you can extrapolate. Without understanding the essence, things appear chaotic and overwhelming. I often hear our brothers and sisters tell me, Teacher, I have so much work. They gesture towards their head, as if their brain were larger than an elephant's, making a sweeping motion, exclaiming, Oh, there's so much to do! I retort, What do you have to do?
I inquire about their profession. One replies, I teach dancing. Another says, I teach piano. Teaching piano? I ask. Just a few pieces to prepare them for exams, isn't it? And dancing? Just a few dances to prepare them for exams. What's the big deal? My words diminish their professions, making them feel that I am talking nonsense.
In reality, if you truly grasp the essence, everything becomes clear and less daunting. To be able to do is one thing, to be able to think is another, and to grasp and understand the essence is yet another. I often say that everyone needs a touch of philosophy, because without it, there is no theoretical guidance, and life becomes exhausting. People become weary when they are constantly busy without understanding anything, repeating the cycle day after day. This is what I refer to as a headless chicken - Hitler's Chicken.
The Key is to Understand the Essence of Things
The key is to understand the essence of things, decidedly not merely learning a method. If you sell meat, you gradually come to understand the essence of selling meat. If you care for the elderly, you understand the essence of elderly care. If you are a cleaner, you understand the essence of cleaning. Everything must be understood. Once you understand, you become remarkable; that is the key.
If you find no joy in your work, there is undoubtedly a problem. Why? Because you have mastered the method but not understood the essence, leading you to feel overwhelmed by the amount of work and the chaos of it all.
So, what is the essence? It is the law of things. The law of things is the theory that guides our practice. Have we not returned the knowledge we acquired as children to our teachers? From practice to practice, is it not? What is theory? What is practice? Have we not learned this? Philosophy, have we not studied philosophy?
It is alright if you have not. Some of us have learned it but have returned it to our teachers. That knowledge is useful, but many are unaware. So, you ask me why I am doing well. Because I am an engineer with philosophical thinking. I like to grasp the essence of things.
A theory that can guide practice is crucial. A theory that is effective, that is what matters. Do you understand? If the things you use are ineffective, what guidance can they provide? Ineffective things are problematic. If you grasp the essence, the guidelines for guiding practice become clear. The amount of things may seem vast, but in reality they are not.
For example, when taking a car, you learn the theory of taking a car. Of course, there is the theory of selling cars. There is the theory of taking a plane, and there are engineering theories for projects such as high-speed rail and skyscrapers; all of these things must have the guidance of theory, is it not? So, it is with the understanding of the essence of things that one can accomplish things. Without the understanding of things, you cannot succeed. Do you understand?
So, why do we do things in a daze? Because we know nothing and just keep busy. If a person knows nothing and just keeps busy, that is bad! I must tell you that I greatly dislike being busy. Do not think that I am not busy because I do few things. I am not busy, but I do many things. Even now, there are some things that I do personally.
So, I understand the essence of things. If you ask me to tell you about my past years, I have clarified the essence of computer networks. Many times I can solve problems that engineers cannot. Why? I know the tricks of the trade. Later, I took up management and did a lot of exploration on management as well. It was really good. I knew a lot of things and played a lot of tricks. Grasping the essence is to guide practice, that is all there is to it.
I am not the kind of person who memorises things by rote. So, I was thinking that doing things is not the most important thing. Some people have been doing things and have been running a bit part all their lives. So why do things? By understanding the essence of things through doing them, you will be happy. That is why you are not happy. I just look at those teachers, oh my, to put it bluntly, they are doing things so hard that they are running around in a flurry. I said, isn't it strange that a teacher can be made to run around in such a flurry? Strange. People just don't want to take the time to understand, that is what is abhorrent.
I want to change your way of life. What if I can't change you? It doesn't matter much to me. I'm still happy. Why? Because I am very clear that your change can only be done if you are willing. If you are not willing, what is the point of forcing a reluctant ox to drink? No use. So, I want to tell you, do you want to be happy? Do you want to be happy in your job? If you want to be happy, oh, who doesn't want to work happily?
Understanding the essence of things will certainly make you do things in a clear and orderly manner. If one day your boss asks you this and that, then your answers will be very clear. Why? You understand the essence of these things.
So, I ask you, what is the job of a teacher? Many people do not understand. They think that being a teacher for a lifetime means standing on the podium, talking non-stop and then packing up and leaving. That's all problematic. So, what kind of students are they?
Emotional, is it not? Is that what teachers are doing on the podium? Of course, I do not want to talk about the problem of education. I hope that our brothers and sisters will not be running a bit part in this life. Do you all know what running a bit part means? You know that the actor is riding a horse and the camera is filming there. Riding the horse there, the horse moves forward and the trees run backwards. In the end, people filming are very talented. They get a group of extras, one person carrying a tree and running. So the horse didn't move at all.
Then I'll tell you that it's funny to run with trees in your arms, but you have to say that the movies we watch are made this way. Don't look at the trees. It's a group of extras holding a tree. One person holding a tree and running backwards, holding a tree and running. Oh, do you think the salary is high? How is it possible to be high? You grab a handful of people from the street and say, Come and run with the trees. So, for that horse to run and for people to capture it in front of the camera, how difficult is that? Do you understand? Camera has to capture the horse in motion. How difficult is that to film? The person riding the horse is bumping up and down, but he didn't move a step. All those extras ran. Do you understand? So, never run a bit part in this life.
Never run a bit part again. Start learning to grasp the essence of things. You say you have not been to school. Aren't you in school now? You say, Teacher, I don't know many words. The words I use don't need to be understood. They are all simple words. I'm telling you that what I'm saying has one characteristic: they are all very simple words, very rough words. There are no words that no one knows what they mean.
My mother didn't go to school for many days, but she can understand. She said, Son, I can understand what you are saying. That's not me showing off. I don't! I don't just use a word that no one can understand. What I say are words that everyone can understand. Don't think this thing is vulgar. It is not vulgar. I'm talking with vulgar words. But Deng Xiaoping's Black Cat, White Cat theory is so vulgar, but it is powerful, is it not?
How to Understand the Essence of Things: Know That You Don't Know
Knowing that you don't know is an attitude. Do you know that there is a very interesting sentence in the Bible? Reading the word of God and then putting it into practice is a smart person. Why? Because as soon as you put it into practice, you realise that it is wrong.
Oh, this doesn't work. The result of the practice is different from the result in the Bible. So who is wrong if it is different? Is the Bible wrong or are we wrong? I guess most of the time we are wrong. Knowing that you don't know is a very, very, very important concept. So this traditional theology is said to be worthless by me. Why? Because traditional theology can only be said but cannot be practiced.
Jesus said that those Pharisees were just saying that they could not do it. There was something very deadly once, using the scriptures to interpret the scriptures, have you heard of it? Do you think using the scriptures to interpret the scriptures is right? If it were right to use the scriptures to interpret the scriptures, Jesus would not have to say to listen to God's words and then put them into practice. The interpretation is based on the scriptures, and after the interpretation, you understand, but it doesn't work when you try it. If it doesn't work, then what did you interpret? Right? You can't do it.
So, what I'm saying is, if you build a car that can't run and you still have to push it, that's called a pushcart, isn't it? If you build an airplane that can't fly, that's not an airplane, is it? If you manage to get an airplane that can fly up but can't come down, that's a flying coffin, isn't it? Isn't that courting death? Would you sit in it? Would you dare to? I wouldn't. Why wouldn't I? Because it would break down immediately. The airplane would be faulty, wouldn't it?
Therefore, this matter requires practical execution. Only through practice do you realise your ignorance; that's the crux of the issue. Take the matter of healing, for example; we achieved it through practice. Through repeated practice, we realised, Ah, this is definitely a good thing. Isn't it? So, all these things must be put into practice.
How did I achieve it? By initially recognising that I didn't know everything. I would never say, If a car can't run, then that's just how cars are. Or, If a church lacks God's presence, then that's just how churches are. Or, If an airplane can't fly, then that's just how airplanes are. I have a term for that: utterly daft. Isn't it? How foolish must one be to say such things?
So, I'm telling you, the Chinese Mingding Doctrine talks about understanding the essence of things, incidentally throwing in some theological content. The most important thing is to put it into practice, isn't it? A teacher once taught a course that I found quite helpful. You know, he specialises in teaching courses and sales techniques. He comes from a sales background. A friend of his came to him, saying, I make these clothes that are genuine, high-quality, and exceptionally well-made, but I just can't sell them. It's really strange.
The teacher asked, What's your pricing? The friend replied, Three hundred and ninety-nine. The teacher then asked, Who do you think the people who wear three hundred and ninety-nine dollar clothes are? Later, he said, Your pricing is wrong. Why? Because the design, the material style, and the target audience don't match. As a result, the friend went back and changed the design and even the brand, and then sold it for 1699, and it became a hit.
The friend said to the teacher, I must treat you to a meal. After speaking with you, I went back, and my product started selling. So, this matter of pricing is critical, isn't it? If your pricing is off, right? And if you don't realise that you're off, you'll just keep persisting. Eventually, you'll become a corpse, lying still. That's what I'm saying. But should you buy engineering tools on Pinduoduo? Definitely not. You can't get them there.
So, we all need to know what we don't know. When we do anything, we must be aware of our ignorance. Personally, I enjoy pondering things. The smartest thing I've ever done is to acknowledge, I don't know about this matter. If I'm working hard and struggling, wouldn't I know it? If I'm working hard and feeling anxious, wouldn't I know it?
What do I know then? I know that I haven't grasped this matter well. Don't ask me to teach people how to do sales; that's pure nonsense. I can't do it; I don't know. I can't do it; I haven't done it before. Right? But as long as it’s work I undertake, I will certainly understand that work, from not knowing to knowing.
Like building a church, right? I used to hold the highest IT position, called CIO. I frequently dealt with a large number of contracts with both parties. I was Party A, and they were Party B. Contract management is a complex subject; remember that. It's not a joke.
Then there's outsourcing and suppliers, and I need to understand the essence of outsourcing, the essence of suppliers, the essence of contracts, and the essence of project management. If I don't understand, it's terrible. Later, I figured it out, so I didn't work much overtime, even though I did a lot of work. Why? Because I understood. Once, a colleague called me and asked, Teacher, do you have this problem? I said, I don't. He asked, How can you not have it? How can you not have it? I'm working myself to the bone.
He had internal customers and external suppliers. The internal customers weren't satisfied, and the external suppliers couldn't perform. He said, I'm in meetings all day long, meeting with this group, meeting with that group, until ten o'clock at night. I'm so tired, I don't even have colour in my face. Where's the problem? Because before taking on this position, I thought this shouldn't be done this way. They were still doing it that way, and they still do it that way now. I said, It can't be done this way.
He asked, What's the essence of the problem? I'll tell you, if you can't explain something clearly, don't outsource it. Remember, if you want to find a supplier, you have to explain everything clearly. This is this, and that is that. Understand? If you don't have this knowledge, you'll definitely be taken advantage of because they wrote the contract, right? Something that can't be explained clearly shouldn't be outsourced.
For example, a full package for decorating floor tiles for 120,000. What kind of floor tiles are they? You get whatever you're given.. It's the cheapest floor tiles, the cheapest flooring, and the cheapest doors. Do you understand? The outside of the door is leather, but the inside is cardboard, just like that. A door that costs one hundred, five hundred, or a thousand dollars – can they be the same? They have ways. So, the seller is always smarter than the buyer. My mother has always told me, Sellers are smart, right? I am not afraid of trouble. Why? I don't want trouble, so I pay for the complete package, and the trouble is less. Right? Why? Because a lot of things are not clearly defined.
I have to explain everything I want to be done clearly, and then I outsource. You do it the way I want it. If I can't explain it clearly, I won't do it. Do you understand? People ask, Do you have this problem? I say, I don't have this problem. I can explain contract management clearly in one sentence.
I don't want to say, I don't want to bother, you all do it, do it. I don't want to know. I don't have the energy to do all that. Later, there is more trouble.
If you let them do anything, and you change it even slightly, they will charge more. If you change it a little more, they charge more again. If you change it a little more, they will make your face green. The other day, I saw the renovation next door to my house and went to take a look. I said, There's a problem with this place, and they were upset. Contracts of one hundred and twelve, one hundred and thirteen, or one hundred and fourteen thousand, and they didn't finish until it cost over two hundred thousand.
So, I'm telling you, suppliers like this, when they see someone like me, the kind who deceives customers, they turn around and leave. This money is hard to earn, so they don't earn it. Those who really want to work will say, This customer is good, right? He explains everything clearly, and when it is done, I'll give you the money, and you give me the goods, and that's it, right? That's the problem, isn't it?
So, we need to know what we don't know; that's a very basic attitude. Only when you do it does it count. Isn't it? That's the problem. It's clear whether it works or not. So, I'm telling you, those who deceive, when they come to me, have one meeting, and they won't bother contacting me again. I call them, and they don't answer. It's too hard to earn this guy's money. Isn't it hard? If you try to deceive, how can I let you deceive me, right? I can afford this money, but I can't afford to lose face, right? If you want to deceive, just forget about coming to me.
So, what do you do? I'll tell you, once I don't know, I spend a lot of time exploring. That's the fourth point: How to Understand the Essence of Things Two: Repeated Deliberation.
How to Understand the Essence of Things Two: Repeated Deliberation
When you hear repeated deliberation, it sounds like an academic term, doesn't it? It sounds like an ordinary person, but it's just repeated deliberation. Coming up with a whole bunch of terms that no one understands is useless. My stuff is more vulgar, but the knowledge isn't vulgar; it works. You have to repeatedly deliberate. How do you deliberate? I'll tell you, if it's a mature industry, I'll dig out the theories of that mature industry. I read them over and over again. Sometimes, we feel that they're useless, and the reason is simple: because the level of the theory is a bit abstract, and there's still a big distance between it and our practice. Take the Bible, for example; there's a considerable distance between it and our practice. So, I have a theory that you've heard, right?
Reading scriptures. If you understand scriptures immediately after reading them, are they really scriptures? If you understand them immediately, they're not scriptures; they're novels, right? When I read scriptures, I read them very carefully. I lead you to examine the Bible, and I examine it very carefully. That kind of book is called a scripture; you can't fully grasp it at once.
There's also something called a treatise. There's a big difference between scriptures and treatises. What's a treatise? A treatise is how to practice what's said in the scriptures. I'll explain it to you: The Art of War is a scripture. If you explain The Art of War and then specifically apply it in warfare, that's called a treatise. The practice of scriptures is called a treatise. How to practice the things in scriptures is called a treatise. But scriptures are still very important.
The four Ps of sales that we talk about are still very important. So, whether I'm preaching or studying the Bible with everyone, it's all treatise. My position is very clear. I'm not like some people who, whether they're preaching or studying the Bible, still stay at the level of scriptures.
I'm telling you how to understand the essence of things two: repeated deliberation. Deliberate what? Deliberate what the scriptures are saying, right? Repeatedly deliberate what the scriptures are saying. I'm saying this is a mature industry. What about an immature industry? There aren't many immature industries; the industries you're involved in are basically mature industries.
We need to know that scriptures can't be used directly. Scriptures are a highly generalised summary of the laws of things, so they can't be used. Who do they go through? They go through these treatises. The people who write the treatises write these things out, and then they're easier to read. So, read scriptures more, and after reading them, go read treatises. Why do I have you read the Bible? Why do I have you read my Bible studies after you read the Bible? Because my study is a treatise, and the scriptures are highly generalised. The Huangdi Neijing is a scripture. Zhang Zhongjing's Treatise on Cold Damage is a treatise. Do you understand? What do you repeatedly deliberate? Deliberate to dig out the theories again.
In the early years, when I was doing networking and the internet, I was doing the internet earlier than Jack Ma. I started doing the internet in '92. The internet was very crude back then; it was difficult to do in that era. When doing the internet, the information wasn't complete, and the stuff wasn't right. It was difficult to solve those problems. My goodness, reading those books was like reading heavenly books. After work, I would read, and when the boss gave me problems, I would read after work. Finally, I understood this networking thing.
The TCP/IP, those network communication protocols that we all use – back then, it wasn't as good as it is now. You just clicked and it worked. Back then, there was no UI. Explore and deliberate; deliberate to dig out the theories. Later, there was a theory called OSI 7 layer, and I deliberated on the seven layers of OSI 7 layer until I knew it thoroughly. This is the basic concept of networking.
Now, I think that stuff is very simple. So, back then, it was an immature industry. Even in that immature industry, there was actually experience. Then I understood the network theory. So, I think a lot of things need to be deliberated. Why can't we do it? Because we don't know how to do it. Sometimes, we can do it; we get the stuff running, but we don't know why it runs.
So, sometimes I think people with engineering backgrounds are amazing. So, now in scientific research, you'll find that many scientific research laboratories are promoting what? Scientific research with an engineering background. If you're doing scientific research, you know. I've visited many American laboratories, like IBM, Google, Cisco, and Lincoln Laboratory. It's all scientific research by engineers, called it counts only if you make it.
These matters require repeated exploration in both theory and practice. In theory and practice, we observe, explore, and ponder. I use the term ponder because I cannot find a suitable replacement. I simply feel that ponder is apt. If you were to ask me, I am someone who enjoys pondering. Years ago, when I met with a classmate, they remarked that I was always pondering. Throughout my life, I have been pondering matters, not only matters but also people. If you can understand people, that is powerful, isn't it? Human nature!
Therefore, these matters are continually extended and studied based on existing theories. Scriptures are called classics and must also be studied. Sometimes, we tend to remain on the surface. Why? The reason is simple: a lack of persistence. You might think that what I write comes effortlessly, but that is not the case. Do you think I am writing the Preface to the Pavilion of Prince Teng? Wang Bo finished it in one go, which is fine.
But what can that accomplish? I do not know. I do not particularly like that sort of thing. I think engineers are truly remarkable. The process of research and exploration requires character, and the core of character is faith. If you ask me what I lack, I still lack faith to this day, which is the persistence needed when facing difficulties.
You will notice that we have all studied my 101 course. Are you familiar with my 101 course? I spent three months writing it, straining until my face turned red. People thought I had lost my mind, walking out of the office, circling around, and then going back in. What was I doing? I was pondering. I would open the materials, but then feel that they were inadequate. I did not like the existing courses, but I still reviewed them. As a result, the 101 course I wrote has character. The key to a fulfilling life lies in faith, which is a training of character. How does this happen? It is through training people in the process of pondering.
Although I had practiced for a long time, the 101 course lacked theory at that time. If you ask me if I can cast out demons, I can. If you ask me if I can build people, and build their faith, I can. But I always felt that something was missing.
Later, I spent three months writing the 101 course and six months writing the 201 course. They turned out well. So, from where do I inherit this? I inherit it from the Bible. I put the most critical axis from the Bible into my 101 course. These insights were pondered, as was the software development and the pastoral care. Even now, I tell you, my pondering on pastoral care is not sufficient. When I have fully pondered it, I will definitely show you my research findings. This is to understand the essence of things through repeated pondering.
How to Understand the Essence of Things Three: Constant Experimentation
Constant experimentation is powerful. Wang Bo drank a flask of wine at the Pavilion of Prince Teng, became dizzy, and wrote the Preface to the Pavilion of Prince Teng. But if he drank a flask of wine and tried to create artificial intelligence driving, he could not do it. Do you understand? He could not have drunk half a flask of wine and written a piece of software that runs well. Through constant experimentation, you ponder, experiment, and I tell you, there is something called logic. Your logic must appear reasonable, and then you practice it. In the process of constant practice, some things work, and some do not.
Why do some things not work? They do not work because they do not conform to the laws of things. It is that simple. Something that does not conform to the laws of things is like a cat that cannot catch mice – it is useless. Keep what works, and then you will find that you have made a breakthrough of 10%, 20%, 50%. That is how it is done.
For example, how to preach and how to study the Bible. I tell you, I have methodologies for these. Why do I have methodologies? Because I have summarized the essence of Bible study and the essence of preaching. Have you understood? I tell you, Bible study is about finding the theme of a chapter in the Bible and focusing on how to implement it.
By focusing on how to implement it, we find what the author wanted to say and then put it into practice. I tell you, the letters that God wrote to us, the Bible, are not for your information, but for your action. What does this mean? It is for your action. It is not just to inform you, but to have you act. It is to have you implement it.
Therefore, as I constantly experiment, keeping what works and continuing to explore what does not, the result is that efficiency and performance continually improve. I tell you, if you follow my method, even if you are a butcher, your meat will sell better and better. Even if you are a cleaner, your cleaning skills will become increasingly refined. If you are a salesperson, your performance will definitely improve. Why? Because you are constantly exploring.
I tell you, exploration and seeking are crucial attributes. Do not make impulsive decisions. I do not particularly like contemporary Christians, who tend to think they have it all figured out and that they possess the truth, and who believe that I have gone astray. In fact, I often feel that I have not figured things out myself! So, I want to get things right. They often think they have it all figured out, but they never do.
Constantly experiment. So, I tell you, when someone gives you a platform, when a company gives you a job, you might think you are simply working and contributing to the company. No. The company gives you this platform so that you have the opportunity to experiment with what you have pondered. The platform is a grace, isn't it? If they do not give you a platform, what can you research? So, I do every job well, coming to the realization that things are thus! Therefore, we seriously treat what we do. Working is a grace.
When experimenting, conduct small-scale trials, not large-scale implementations. Like China's reform and opening up, first carry out trials in Shenzhen. If you do things as I do, will you still feel tired? No. Will you be happy? Yes. And if you are happy, what will happen? You will have the inspiration to create new things.
If someone gives you a platform and you still feel tired when you do things this way, why? Because you can never grasp the essence, you can never understand the essence. So, from now on, do things as I have said. You might say, Teacher, I am just a cleaner. I say, Let us compare cleaning skills. You might not be able to surpass me. Why? Because I am a relatively clean person. I am very clean. So, I arrange my things neatly.
If I were to clean this building, it would be fortunate. Those dead corners and places piled with杂物, I would gradually clean them, a little today, a little tomorrow. I would clean them thoroughly one day, and then the next cleaning would be much faster. So, what is this about? It is about whether we can have this spirit. How can we do constant experimentation? In point six.
How to Understand the Essence of Things Four: Constant Planning and Reflection in Practice
There are very few people who have the habit of constant planning and reflection in practice. Do you have this habit? You probably do not. Some people do not understand the essence of things, engaging in constant planning and reflection in practice. Some people say, Teacher, I do not know how to reflect, because you have not done anything. What can you reflect on? For example, if I am going to do an experiment tomorrow, today I do not know where the problem lies, but something is simply not right. And then you know, tomorrow I am going to do this, I am going to do that. My mind is full of plans: point one, point two...
Having a plan can sometimes be interrupted. Without a plan, it is a complete disaster. So, what is the plan? The plan is how I will do these things tomorrow. After doing them, I find that something is not right, this part is not right, that part is not right. The method I thought of yesterday seems ineffective, so I reflect again.
If you want to get things right, you must reflect on many things. So, cultivating the habit of planning and reflecting is essential. Many people give vent to meaningless grief. Why? Because they neither implement it nor practice it, they do not ponder it, and they do not know that they do not know. And then they just go with the flow, spending their lives as extras, tied to a tree and running hard. Is that not what people are like?
Is my way of living not good? I like to teach these things to everyone. But what I teach is mainly a framework, although there are many specific examples. But it still remains within a framework. Once my framework is built, see, constantly finding joy in labor and joy in work is important. Is life not about joy? If life is not joyful, if work is not joyful, is that not nonsense? How can we have joy? We must grasp the method of doing things.
After grasping the method of doing things, we understand the essence of things. After understanding the essence of things, I want to unleash creativity in my work. Being able to unleash creativity is innovation. After innovation, I interact with people in my work. This is another level. When you want to interact with people, you have nothing to talk about. Like I said last time, Have you eaten? Yes. Have you drunk? Yes. Are you not annoyed by talking about these things every day?
So, let us start moving in this direction. Specifically, sales involves many things. I will gradually improve these courses in the future. Although I do not understand them well, we have people among us who understand, who work in that industry, and who will gradually improve these things. For example, some people are very good at researching how to do scientific research. Scientific research has its own methods. So, these things are very profound knowledge.
I have just outlined a framework. You will certainly become knowledgeable people in this place in the future, you will certainly become creative people, you will certainly become people who are not too busy but do things efficiently, not those who are neurotically busy. Some people suddenly make money without knowing how, and they lose money without knowing how. They do not know what to do in this life, and they are always stuck.
I think this is what we are talking about in this course. I have been looking for many courses recently, but those courses are at the operational level. So, I thought of a way. I said, I cannot do it. I have to build a framework for this. I have seen many courses on how to conduct oneself and how to do things. I think I should create my own set of courses.
But it does not matter. If this version is not good, the next version will be improved. Continue doing scientific research. My brothers and sisters, no matter what industry you are in, even if you are a civil servant, can you be an excellent civil servant, not someone who ruins their career as a civil servant? Some people ruin the country while working as civil servants. Some people ruin companies while working for them. You are very powerful if you ruin everything you touch. We must adjust ourselves so that we prosper wherever we go. We prosper wherever we go.
Listen to me, focus on doing practical work and scientific research. 感慨吧, this is true education, education on how to be a person, how to be a person like God. Okay, our course ends here. May God bless everyone!
