【Bible Study】Genesis Chapter 48 - You Shall Receive an Extra Portion of Inheritance

2023-05-12 55,970 Genesis Genesis 48 Genesis Chapter 48 Inheritance Promised Land Visionary and Dream-Driven Evidence-Based

Introduction

Greetings to all! Let us delve into the forty-eighth chapter of Genesis. This chapter is particularly intriguing, and I have titled it "You Shall Receive an Extra Portion of Inheritance." In the previous chapter, we discussed "Gaining Land and Inheritance," a topic upon which Chinese Mingding Destiny offers unique insights. Over the years, I have often heard Christians say that they will go to heaven after death. This has always been a significant point of confusion for me. After death, one simply goes to heaven? Especially when I observe these Christians, they often appear lazy and unwilling to work. They frequently claim to entrust everything to God, ultimately doing nothing themselves. I wonder if heaven is filled with such individuals, I might reconsider whether I want to go there.

I am quite familiar with the Bible, especially with the understanding that Genesis forms the foundation of the entire scripture. However, I have not found any mention of "going to heaven" within Genesis. If you have, please point it out to me. What I do see is the promise of inheriting the Promised Land. Is it the Promised Heaven? No, it is inheriting the Promised Land. Chinese Mingding Destiny focuses on a theology for the living, not for the dead. If it were a theology for the dead, it would be far too late. Therefore, brothers and sisters, I tell you, gain an extra portion of inheritance on earth, inherit the Promised Land, and receive an additional promise.

Indeed, the God we believe in is the God of the living, not the God of the dead. Chinese Mingding Destiny teaches that we should live in a manner that reflects God while we are alive. Some people live lives that are neither human nor ghostly, utterly miserable. They remain confused, believing that they will go to heaven after death.

What is most detestable is living a life that is neither human nor ghostly, and then, upon death, requesting prayers to be sent to heaven. Consider how deeply ingrained this poison is. They do not seek to live out God's image while alive, but only to ascend to heaven after death. Is this not absurd? Later, I pondered where the foundation lies. God created man on earth to be fruitful and multiply, to govern the land, not the heavens. The heavens are not your concern. Therefore, this chapter we will discuss "You Shall Receive an Extra Portion of Inheritance."

These Are All Words Spoken by God

Let us recall the words God spoke to Abraham: "This land I will give to you and your descendants." God spoke these words to Abraham, and similar words to Isaac. And to Jacob:

Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me. He said to me, ‘I am going to make you fruitful and will increase your numbers. I will make you a community of peoples, and I will give this land as an everlasting possession to your descendants after you.’ (Genesis 48:3-4)

Are these God's words? Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were men who saw through life and death. Why, then, would they not see through the matter of inheriting this land? To say, "Oh, life is just like this! It is meaningless whether or not we inherit the Promised Land." Did God say that? No, that is not what God said. Therefore, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of God, which is: "I will make you fruitful and will increase your numbers. I will make you a community of peoples, and I will give this land as an everlasting possession to your descendants after you." This is not a joke; these are God's words.

If you argue with God, saying, "Why should I work so hard? I still have to get this land. I'm fine just living like this on earth." And then entrust everything to God. God gives you this land, and you entrust it back to God, saying it is all meaningless anyway. Is that how it is? No, that is not how it is! We must understand that the thoughts in our minds are not our own; they are all words spoken by God. If you understand what God says, then we should say the same. If you see through God's words and disregard God's "lies," then there will be trouble.

Brothers and sisters, know that there is only one reason: because these are all words spoken by God. We must know that one day we will all inherit land on this earth, and God will give us the whole earth. This is also confirmed in Revelation. Later, when Jesus returns to this earth, after we die, Jesus will bring us back to Jesus, not to heaven. He will bring us back to this earth to a new heaven and a new earth, where the earth will be filled with God's glory.

Therefore, while we are alive, we must not invent our own things, or we will end up with something evil and crooked. The reason is simple: that is not what God said. The God who created the universe told Moses to build a tabernacle for Him, and God's glory filled the tabernacle. Did Moses do it according to God's instructions? Yes, God told Moses what to do. David and Solomon built a temple for God, according to whose instructions? God drew it with His finger and told David, and then David followed the drawing. Do not make a mistake. When we are on earth, we must build His glorious church according to what God said.

I met a pastor who was quite interesting. He was very proud, and I also praised him. Why? Because he wanted to preach the gospel. How did he preach the gospel? He would give food to those who had no food on the streets and then preach the gospel. I felt that this was not what God said. I could not find this method of preaching the gospel by giving people food in the Bible. I thought, in earlier years, I gave even better than they did. He gave people a boxed lunch, but I gave them roast chicken, roast duck, and braised beef. Those were really not what God said; those were my own inventions, but I repented quickly.

Brothers and sisters, know that I repent very quickly. If I find something is wrong, I quickly change it. I do not argue with God. If God did not say it, why should we do it? Actually, I have seen some people doing happiness groups. I did better than you did before, but that is not what God said. So later, I liked to do one thing: these are all words spoken by God. I have seen through life and death. As long as there is no basis in the Bible, I will not talk nonsense. Brothers and sisters, we must know, can you find a basis in the Bible? If I do something that you cannot find in the Bible, then you say, "Teacher, what you are doing does not seem to have a basis in the Bible," and I will quickly stop and not do things that have no basis.

Therefore, I have a very simple principle: I like to follow the classics. For example, in marketing, there is a classic work that is now in its 24th edition. I do what they say because they are marketing experts. Some people ask me, "Teacher, what if you became a Buddhist?" Then I would follow the Buddhist scriptures. If I am a Christian, then I will carefully implement the Bible. If I do not understand it, I will desperately read it. If I do human resource management, I like to follow the classics. There are classics in human resource management. Is there any industry that does not have classics? Every industry has classics. Would you say that I am a very disciplined person?

Therefore, brothers and sisters, start learning to be disciplined. Anything that is not disciplined or does not have classics is pure nonsense. Even today, when you launch an artificial earth satellite, you still need to comply with Newton's laws of mechanics. Newton's laws of mechanics laid a theoretical foundation. What is your way of living based on? Many of your ways of living are based on your own inventions. No matter how good you feel, it is not as good as God's word.

Later, I found that many people acted arbitrarily. I met the old pastor who baptized me. I listened to many pastors' sermons, but only his sermons left a little impression on me. Many were just talking nonsense, but his sermons were quite good. Who was he? He was a very famous pastor who promoted the charismatic movement in Singapore in the early years. The entire charismatic movement in Singapore, exorcism, healing, and deliverance, were all related to him.

I was in his church, from baptism to believing in the Lord. I saw him cast out demons many times. The logic of healing and exorcism started from there. What I mean is that these must be what God said. Jesus came out to preach the gospel, heal the sick, and cast out demons. Now many people come out to preach the gospel, but they do not heal the sick or cast out demons. I feel that this is going against Jesus. You do not do what Jesus said, but you do a lot of things that Jesus did not do. They are very powerful, always catching heresies but not knowing that they are the biggest heretics. They do not conform to the Bible at all, and then they mess around, creating many curses. Some people are very famous. A very famous person baptized a brother. After the baptism, this brother started a life of bad luck and was very confused.

That brother asked, "Why?" I said, "You believed in the wrong thing." Do not look at those pastors who are very famous, but they do not conform to what the Bible says, messing around! That brother studied well and said, "What they say cannot be self-consistent." It must conform to the Bible. If the gospel that people preach is not the same gospel that the Apostle Paul preached, then there will be big trouble, and you will definitely be cursed. Do not think, "Am I not very loving to the Lord?" Those who love God must carefully keep and obey God's word. If you do not carefully keep and obey God's word, your love for God is fake. These are all words spoken by God. Do not go against God!

Joseph Shall Receive an Extra Portion of Inheritance

Joseph shall receive an extra portion of inheritance, an extra portion of the Promised Land. Who exactly is Joseph? He is an extraordinary person. Joseph absolutely does not discern good and evil. He refuses to discern good and evil, so he receives an extra portion of inheritance. Judah is the eldest son, but Joseph receives more than Judah, which is amazing. Because Joseph is truly after God's heart. Brothers and sisters, do not make a mistake. You cannot discern good and evil!

Brothers and sisters among us are not qualified to discern good and evil. No one sold you to Egypt, no one did anything to you. I am just doing it for your own good, and you are still discerning good and evil with me. Where did you get this qualification? Do not lose your own portion in order to gain an extra portion of inheritance. Today's Christians do not eat just one bite of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, but they eat it every day. When they open the refrigerator, it is full of it. They eat it by the basket!

Recently, a cancer patient came. Cancer patients have eaten too much of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, so they got cancer. She did not just get cancer once, but again and again. She did not say, "I did not do it right when I got cancer. I need to change!" She did not change and continued to eat. How did Joseph receive an extra portion of inheritance? Because he walked in God's will. You must have vision and dreams, so you will not be like a walking corpse, eating more than others, working less than others, and being more powerful than anyone else in discerning good and evil. Your ability to discern good and evil increases with your age! In the end, you eat too much, and there will be trouble.

Joseph is a person with dreams, wanting to become the salvation of the family, without any selfishness. As a result, he received two portions of the Promised Land. How did he receive an extra portion? Because Joseph had two sons. There are a total of 12 tribes of Israel, now 13, one more tribe. Later, when Israel divided the land, Manasseh received a large portion. Ephraim also received a very large portion! That was not half a portion, that was a whole portion. Why? Because Joseph's two sons were included in the name of Israel, becoming 13 tribes. How did the 12 tribes of Israel become 13? Jacob, a spiritual person, did not care about 12 or 13. If there was one more, 14, it would not matter, 15 or 16 would not matter.

God does not care about one more Joseph either. If he had two more sons, there would be Manasseh II and Ephraim II, and there would be 15! God does not care about this. God has plenty of promises. God can create a position that surpasses the birthright of the eldest son, and God can also create a position that surpasses Joseph. The only fear is that people are confused! Joseph wants to receive an extra portion of inheritance. Does God care about one more or one less portion? He really does not care. Do not limit us with a lie. How many tribes do we have? Would 50 tribes be okay? Yes. Would 100 tribes be okay? Yes. Would 14,400 tribes be okay? Yes. God has plenty of resources in His house. Do not care about twelve or thirteen. Therefore, there are 13 tribes in the house of Israel, because Ephraim and Manasseh were added to Jacob's name and divided the land with Reuben and Simeon.

Today, God's promises, no matter how many, are all yes in Jesus Christ. What God lacks the least is inheritance. People should not live in the rigidity of the Pharisees and should not have these rules and regulations. What we pursue is God's will, and God's will is to give you an extra portion of inheritance. God wants to give you another portion, God wants to add two more portions to you. Is it possible? Yes, it is possible! It just depends on whether you are the right material.

Some of us, if I do not watch him and whip him with a small whip, he will go astray. He will not know where he has run off to. He spends a long time watching TikTok, and I do not know why it is so good-looking. He does not do anything serious. He is very good at watching TikTok, talking nonsense, and bullshitting. He disappears as soon as he starts. He has no interest in God's word. Have we gained an extra portion of God's inheritance or lost a portion? Do not lose the portion in your hand.

Today, we want to highlight a concept: God does not lack that portion. It just depends on whether you are that Joseph. If you are Joseph, you will receive an extra portion of inheritance. Many Christians are limited by these rules and regulations. There is a lot of slave mentality in them. How can a slave mentality inherit the Promised Land? God's house is full of children, not slaves. If you are full of slave mentality, you will be completely ruined.

I want to pull you out of the slave mentality, but it is very difficult. I am exhausted. We are always in a tug-of-war. I want to pull you to this side, into God's Promised Land. But you do not want to. You want to pull to that side. I do not want our brothers and sisters to not receive a portion of inheritance and die in the wilderness. Then your portion will belong to others.

Ephraim Above Manasseh

Inheriting land and inheriting the Promised Land, placing Ephraim above Manasseh. Joseph saw that his father put his right hand on Ephraim's head and his left hand on Manasseh's head. He made a mistake, so he switched Jacob's hands from their heads. But Jacob deliberately crossed his hands, putting his right hand on Ephraim's head and his left hand on Manasseh's head. Joseph reminded his father that he was wrong, but Jacob said that he was not wrong.

Then he blessed Joseph and said, “May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked faithfully, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, the angel who has delivered me from all harm—may he bless these boys. May they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they increase greatly on the earth.” (Genesis 48:15-16)

We still need to be fruitful and multiply, because these two boys are fruitful and multiply, hoping that their descendants can follow Joseph's example. What does it mean that Ephraim is above Manasseh? Because Manasseh means that God has made me forget my father's house and my suffering; Ephraim means that God has made me prosper in the place of my suffering. Which of these two names is better? Of course, Ephraim is better. Prospering in the place of suffering is of course above Manasseh. Being a Christian means prospering in the place of suffering, not withering in the place of suffering.

Do not be like a piece of dried meat, withered and withered. When dried meat is sliced and stir-fried in a pot, the fat is transparent. It is crunchy and chewy. But it is still a piece of dried meat. Can that be called prosperity? If it is made into dried meat, it cannot be called prosperity. Prospering in the place of suffering, that is God's will. Suffering is not God's will. Being able to prosper in the place of suffering is an amazing person! These years, I am especially grateful to God. I have suffered a lot, but prosperity is absolute prosperity.

Brothers and sisters, do you want to be such a person? I think that is amazing. Even if I suffer, I will not discern good and evil. Even if I suffer, I will refuse to discern good and evil. Everything I see is good, because God wants to save me and make me the salvation of the family. I am willing to pay the price for this. God's will will be accomplished in me. Actually, forgetting your father's house and your suffering is a very low level. Although you have received that promise, the level is very low. I will give you another shot of chicken blood. God's will for you is prosperity, definitely not withering.

Last time when I led you to study the Bible, many brothers and sisters came out of poverty, bankruptcy, and debt. I am really grateful to God. I do not like withering. I like prosperity. I know that God's will is prosperity. Ephraim is above Manasseh. Everyone must know that they will all prosper and multiply. Today, brothers and sisters, what does it matter if you suffer a little? There is no suffering that you cannot bear, only blessings that you cannot enjoy. Therefore, for the sake of prosperity, it is normal to suffer a little!

Brothers and sisters, start to clean up the faith inside us today. God's will for us is prosperity. Even if we suffer a little, it is only a momentary and light affliction. This momentary and light affliction will achieve an eternal weight of glory that is beyond comparison. That is the beginning of prosperity. Even if you are Joseph, you cannot correct this logic. Our God wants prosperity. This time, our brothers and sisters will prosper again. Swallow the suffering. When I was a child, when my parents beat me, I would cry. My parents would say, "Do not cry, hold it back." Today, we must also hold back the suffering. What is this suffering? It is nothing.

When we think of the hope of glory, all suffering becomes a momentary and light affliction. People who can endure the bitterness of bitterness can become people above people. Being fruitful and multiplying, how good! Someone said, "Teacher, drink this tea. This tea is good." I said, "How is this tea good?" It is bitter and astringent. He said, "Teacher, I like bitter and astringent tea. After drinking it, there is a sweet aftertaste in my mouth." If there is always a bitter taste in your mouth after drinking it, that is called a sweet aftertaste. I thought it was very interesting, but later, I also liked this kind of tea.

People like Joseph will have God's presence. The Bible reveals a very important thing. You must be like Ephraim and Manasseh. Therefore, in Israel, there is a saying, "You must be like Ephraim and Manasseh." It means, "May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh," which is to forget your father's house and suffering, and to prosper in the place of suffering.

God Will Surely Be With You and Bring You Back to the Promised Land

Then Israel said to Joseph, “I am about to die, but God will be with you and take you back to the land of your fathers." (Genesis 48:21)

All of us must come out of Egypt, cross the spiritual wilderness, and enter the Promised Land. We must enter into victory through battle. It is normal to endure some suffering, and even in suffering, we must become like Ephraim and Manasseh. Becoming Manasseh and Ephraim is the spiritual path we must take today. Do you desire to possess the Promised Land? Do you desire to have God's presence in the Promised Land? If you want God's presence, you must be like Ephraim and Manasseh, forgetting your pain in times of suffering and focusing on your work. Joseph did not have time to dwell on his pain; when he was a slave, he was busy working. People forget their pain when they are busy working.

How do we become like Ephraim? After Joseph became the Prime Minister of Egypt, he was still working. Joseph had a lot of work to do. Even when Jacob arrived in Egypt, Joseph did not have time to attend to his father; he was constantly busy with one thing after another. I often lead everyone in working. Working is good! Working can make you forget your pain. Have you noticed that people who love to work experience less pain? When I think back to the early years, which were really painful, I invented many things to do. I would do this today and that tomorrow, always finding something to do. In the early years, in our physical church, I was the one who built the cabinets, ran the wiring, set up the microphones and amplifiers... I forgot my pain as I worked.

Secondly, those who work prosper. The lazy ones among us must change. Lazy people are in pain, tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep. They come to me and say, "Pastor, I have insomnia." I think to myself, who wouldn't have insomnia if they were like you? Not doing any work. Some people just need a good beating or need to work more. People who do nothing can't sleep at night, so they get up and run, exercise, and do all sorts of things. Is that better than working? Only work can create value. Therefore, I want to train all the brothers and sisters among us to be workers. God will be with those who work and lead them back to the Promised Land.

Many Christians today are lazy, good for nothing but eating, shouting "Hallelujah" loudly but to no avail. If God is to be with you, you must be like Ephraim and Manasseh. God will also make you like Ephraim and Manasseh, like Joseph. Joseph was a remarkable man, one who possessed all the land of Egypt, a prosperous man who lacked nothing in his home, lived prosperously, and slept soundly at night. Are there still people among us who suffer from insomnia? If you have insomnia, don't go walking, running, exercising, or stretching; just work more.

People like me really don't have time to stretch. Before studying the Bible, I quickly take a nap, then get up and lead everyone in studying the Bible. Thank God, God will surely lead me into the Promised Land, God will surely be with me. Because I have the character of Ephraim and Manasseh, I have no time for pain, and I have no time for laziness. The time I have is spent walking in God's will. It is good to live this way, prospering day by day. God will lead me into the Promised Land.

Everything God entrusts to me, I will fulfill my Mingding Destiny in God, complete the work God has given me. I do not entrust it to God and then wash my hands of it, becoming an unfaithful, lazy, and wicked servant. I do not want to be such a person. I want to be a faithful and good servant of God. God will not only give me the Promised Land but also an extra portion. I want to receive a double portion. Thinking about it makes me feel sweet. Sometimes I think, is there a better occupation in the world than what I do? I think what I do is the best. It is to make everyone like Ephraim and Manasseh, everyone like Joseph, all prosperous. Thinking about it is sweet!

It's like eating something delicious, so wonderful that the way you walk changes. You walk along, feeling wonderful. People ask you what you're feeling so wonderful about. Oh, how could I not feel wonderful? So you see, I don't drag my feet when I walk; I walk with the wind, full of vitality. Sometimes I have more vitality than young people, it's so good. Because God will lead me into the Promised Land, no matter how many promises God has made, all of God's promises in Jesus Christ are mine. It's so good!

The Land That Jacob Took With Sword and Bow Is Given to You

After the Bible speaks of Ephraim and Manasseh, it adds a sentence: I give you the land that Jacob took from the Amorites in Canaan. How good is that!

"And to you I give one more portion than to your brothers, the portion I took from the Amorites with my sword and bow.” (Genesis 48:22)

Actually, during the time Joseph was sold into Egypt, Jacob was not idle in Canaan. Jacob loved to work, he was good at herding sheep, and he was also good at fighting. The land that Jacob took with sword and bow, the land of the Amorites, I give to you, that is, to Joseph. There is a bit of flavor in these words. What flavor? Many lands are taken through our victory in battle. Jacob trained his household troops in Canaan all day long. I guess Jacob was very old in those days, because he was ninety-one years old when he fathered Joseph. When he returned from Paddan Aram, he was probably ninety-seven or ninety-eight years old.

At that time, when he returned from Paddan Aram, Laban was still chasing him. Finally, Jacob returned to Canaan and was not idle. He trained his household troops all day long, just like his grandfather Abraham, training them to be very powerful. As a result, he did one thing: he took the land of the Amorites with sword and bow. Before, he was unwilling for his sons to kill the people of Shechem. How could he now snatch the land of the Amorites? Jacob inherited the logic of Abraham and Isaac: don't come and provoke me, and if you do, I will destroy you. God often stirred up the Amorites to cause trouble for Jacob.

Jacob destroyed the Amorites and then took their land. How was this taken? It was taken through victory in battle. Chinese Mingding Destiny believes in victory through battle in the spiritual world. If you want to be victorious in battle in the spiritual world, you must have the skills of Ephraim and Manasseh. Lazy and stupid people cannot do this work; you must be very clever. Jacob drove away the Amorites and took their land, and then said that this land would be given to Joseph's descendants, that is, Ephraim and Manasseh. So you must know that this land was taken by Jacob with sword and bow, and it is good that it was taken.

Brothers and sisters, you must know that God originally wanted to give many places to some people, but they did not receive them. Why? Because they did not fight and were not victorious. Therefore, building a church means building a victorious church. Every brother and sister must be a good soldier in the church. Our church does not accept lazy people, does not accept those who are both lazy and stupid. Our church only accepts the good ones, casting a net and picking out the good ones into vessels, and discarding the bad ones.

We want to train everyone to be a good soldier in Jesus Christ, fighting in the spiritual world. So sometimes, please bear with my little faults. Some people come to me, and I don't see them as good ones. This one is not so good when cast into the net, so I serve them in a not-so-good way. After serving for a while, I discover that they are a treasure, and I quickly change the way I serve them.

Sometimes I often make mistakes, but I correct them quickly. But if you want me to believe you are good from the beginning, it's really a bit difficult. If you want to fool me, my eyes are very sharp, and my vision is a bit picky. Those who can fight and be victorious are good; those who only live a small life at home don't count. I like those brothers and sisters who are full when they are alone and not hungry when the whole family is, and then offer themselves to God. That's all very good.

Some time ago, a sister came among us. Actually, she was pastoring others outside. I put her in the new believers' training, which is a bit like training new recruits. New recruits experience hellish training, but we still can't reach that level. As a result, she became unhappy, and we sent her away. After a while, she came back to us: "Pastor, I want to come back." I felt like she was a treasure. So our church wants to follow what Jesus taught: cast a net, cast a net, pick out the good ones into vessels, and throw away the bad ones. Whether it's the New Testament or the Old Testament, it's all this logic.

We want to possess the Promised Land, to train a group of elite soldiers to fight spiritual battles. Whatever is won through battle is given to you. What our forefathers won through battle will be given to people like Joseph. So brothers and sisters must know that this is a place to build God's glorious church, a place of victory through battle, a place to train elite soldiers. Do you want to be such an elite soldier? Later, I discovered that many church pastors live in pain because they only collect garbage. I also wonder why some people like to collect garbage. I really don't want garbage. So those who can fight and be victorious, who can take the Promised Land of God with sword and bow, are good ones.

Start being an elite soldier today. Although old Jacob was over ninety years old, he still left a good name in the land of Canaan. In the land of Canaan, no one dared to touch Jacob's family because Jacob's family was powerful. Whoever touched him was unlucky. So even to this day, those who bless Abraham are blessed, and those who curse Abraham are cursed. Those who curse Jacob are cursed, and those who bless Jacob are blessed. Today, those who bless the pastor are blessed, and those who curse the pastor are cursed. I dare to say that this is really the case.

If you become like Jacob and Joseph, you will be too powerful in the spiritual realm. Don't be idle; train those few skills every day. In the eighteen weapons, start by practicing three or five, then continue to practice seven or eight, ten or so, and finally be proficient in all eighteen weapons. That is to make a name for yourself in the spiritual world. Our church wants to pass five levels and slay six generals, so that when demons in the spiritual world encounter us, they will tremble at the sound of our names. This is the church we want to build.

When I met my old pastor, I told him: Many years ago, the church was extremely desolate, and I resolved to do one thing: even if I was the only one left, I would be an elite soldier and never build a church of rabble. Aren't we all treasures today? Those of us who can stay until today are all treasures. Especially those who have been kicked out and come back, you have a lot of character. If the net is cast and all that is caught is garbage, I don't even want the net.

So brothers and sisters, do you understand my determination? Sometimes I hear some people say to me: Pastor, we can't do what you do. I say, why? Because there are no such people here. Is it not okay if there is only me? Even if it's just me, I will be such a person.

Thank God, actually God has hidden many treasures in all nations. We will dig out these treasures and build God's glorious church, all of which are treasures in God's eyes in the kingdom of heaven. Today, you and I have forsaken everything for the sake of God's kingdom to follow Jesus Christ, to be treasures in God's eyes, to receive an extra portion of inheritance. What we receive is a double portion. Start telling yourself: I will receive a double portion!

Amen! May God bless everyone!

Genesis Chapter 48 Scripture

48:1 Some time later Joseph was told, “Your father is ill.” So he took his two sons Manasseh and Ephraim along with him.
48:2 When Jacob was told, “Your son Joseph has come to you,” Israel rallied his strength and sat up on the bed.
48:3 Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and there he blessed me
48:4 and said to me, ‘I am going to make you fruitful and will increase your numbers. I will make you a community of peoples, and I will give this land as an everlasting possession to your descendants after you.’
48:5 “Now then, your two sons born to you in Egypt before I came to you here, are to be mine; Ephraim and Manasseh will be mine, just as Reuben and Simeon are mine.
48:6 Any children born to you after them will be yours; in the territory they inherit, they will be reckoned under the names of their brothers.
48:7 As I was returning from Paddan, to my sorrow Rachel died in the land of Canaan while we were still on the way, a little distance from Ephrath. I buried her there beside the road to Ephrath” (that is, Bethlehem).
48:8 When Israel saw Joseph’s sons, he asked, “Who are these?”
48:9 “They are the sons God has given me here,” Joseph said to his father. Then Israel said, “Bring them to me so I may bless them.”
48:10 Now Israel’s eyes were failing because of old age, and he could hardly see. So Joseph brought his sons close to him, and his father kissed them and embraced them.
48:11 Israel said to Joseph, “I never expected to see your face again, and now God has allowed me to see your children too.”
48:12 Then Joseph removed them from Israel’s knees and bowed down before him with his face to the ground.
48:13 And Joseph took both of them, Ephraim on his right toward Israel’s left hand and Manasseh on his left toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them close to him.
48:14 But Israel reached out his right hand and put it on Ephraim’s head, though he was the younger, and crossing his arms, he put his left hand on Manasseh’s head, even though Manasseh was the firstborn.
48:15 Then he blessed Joseph and said, “May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked faithfully, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,
48:16 the Angel who has delivered me from all harm—may he bless these boys. May they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they increase greatly on the earth.”
48:17 When Joseph saw his father placing his right hand on Ephraim’s head he was displeased; so he took hold of his father’s hand to move it from Ephraim’s head to Manasseh’s head.
48:18 Joseph said to him, “Not so, my father! This one is the firstborn; put your right hand on his head.”
48:19 But his father refused and said, “I know, my son, I know. He too will become a people, and he too will become great. Nevertheless, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a group of nations.”
48:20 He blessed them that day and said, “In your name will Israel pronounce this blessing: ‘May God make you like Ephraim and Manasseh.’” So he put Ephraim ahead of Manasseh.
48:21 Then Israel said to Joseph, “I am about to die, but God will be with you and take you back to the land of your fathers.
48:22 And to you I give one more portion than to your brothers, the portion I took from the Amorites with my sword and bow.”
