Introduction
We often find ourselves bewildered by the affairs of the world. Take, for instance, a brother among us who, initially a common soldier, was unexpectedly favored by his boss. He was elevated to a leadership position, managing over a hundred individuals. This sudden rise led him to become arrogant, thinking highly of himself. Throughout this journey, he experienced several ups and downs in his job roles. Eventually, he realized that many opportunities arose seemingly out of nowhere, like a gust of wind. These opportunities, both coming and going, often had little to do with one's actual abilities.
I have encountered many wealthy individuals, but I have observed that not all of them are genuinely astute. For some, wealth also appears to come like a windfall. Many people wonder why some are in high positions and why others are wealthier? Why didn't the wind blow these good things my way? In the internet age, we witness many such instances where capable individuals lack opportunities, while those with modest abilities seize them.
There is an evil I have seen under the sun, as of an error which proceeds from the ruler: That folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in low place. I have seen servants on horses, and princes walking as servants on the earth. He who digs a pit may fall into it; and whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a serpent. (Ecclesiastes 10:5-8)
I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all. (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
This world is truly fascinating. Some individuals, once influential and commanding, may one day become prisoners. Without divine wisdom, one can become confused and unable to see clearly. In the Book of Numbers, the Israelites wandered in the wilderness, growing increasingly miserable. They began to long for their life in Egypt. Let's go back! they said. This is human wisdom. Viewing the situation with human wisdom makes it seem chaotic. Reading Ecclesiastes can lead to even greater confusion. Why is this so?
Spending a lifetime without understanding spiritual matters is a fatal flaw. People truly need divine wisdom. Frankly, every time I prepare a sermon, I feel as if I'm wrestling with something, as if I both understand and don't understand. Therefore, let us all seek together. I believe that with a seeking heart, God will surely reveal Himself to us. Let us not be fools, but seek to understand life, death, and all that lies between.
Scripture
Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.(1 Corinthians 1:20-25)
Prayer
God, please bestow upon us heavenly wisdom, so that everyone may possess divine insight, like the Apostle Paul, to see through all things in this world, and to better understand You and the essence of living in this world. God! Let us learn to possess You, for You are power and wisdom. May You speak to us, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
Christ is Always the Power and Wisdom of God
The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are wise in their own eyes. Those who cling tightly to worldly things will eventually find themselves ensnared. We often see people living glamorous lives, envied by others, only to suddenly collapse one day due to unforeseen circumstances. Opportunities that come like a gust of wind can also be taken away by the same wind. God will destroy the wisdom of the wise and set aside the understanding of the discerning. Paul asks, Where is the wise? Hasn't God made the wisdom of this world foolish? Many become wealthy without knowing why. Brothers and sisters, the wisdom and understanding we ought to seek are not those that God will destroy.
Christ is always the power and wisdom of God. Many who come to us are poor, sick, and burdened by various troubles, having been defeated in the world. But upon coming before God, they are victorious once more. The world may say that luck is important. Man is incapable of transformation through his own power. Therefore, we see one dynasty replaced by another. These historical events do not happen by chance. There is nothing new under the sun.
There was a rogue in the Liu family named Liu Bang, who became emperor. He was simply lucky, seemingly impossible to kill. People said he was destined to be emperor. In this world, those who govern and hold authority are ultimately under God's control. One should not rely on his own wisdom. If one begins to boast of his own wisdom, his demise is not far off. Nor should you think that some people in the world are very powerful. They are merely pigs standing in the wind; glorious today, but possibly destitute tomorrow. Therefore, human wisdom is unreliable!
For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” (1 Corinthians 1:19)
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.(1 Corinthians 1:21)
Do Not Rely on Human Wisdom
Don't think I'm particularly capable. I simply rely on God, and I truly dare not rely on human wisdom anymore. Those of us who serve should not rely on their own wisdom but must learn to rely on God. I wouldn't dare rely on my own wisdom, even if I had the courage of a lion. Now I rely solely on Jesus Christ. If I must boast, I will boast in my weakness. Stop relying on your own wisdom and ability to serve. Know that you may plant and water, but it is God who makes things grow. This is the wisdom and power of God. Today, if we rely on ourselves, we can accomplish nothing. Human wisdom is truly ineffective. The Jews seek signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom, but they do not know God, and later events proved their foolishness.
Today, we see many people taking health supplements, yet they remain ill. Brothers and sisters, you must know that to be carnally minded is death, and the knowledge of good and evil is death. Many say, I must protect my kidneys, my lungs, my liver! But their bodies are a mess. I never protect myself, nor do I take health supplements. My sleep schedule is irregular, yet my body is healthy. Someone who cherishes his body had leg pain for many years. Did taking supplements help? In the end, it was only after I prayed for him that he was healed.
A senior pastor told me, Being a pastor is tiring, serving all day, with only one day of rest per week! How can one not get sick? As a result, he developed hydrocephalus. Can you serve well by relying on human wisdom? Can you avoid being exhausted? Do not rely on human wisdom! If you rely on human wisdom and human methods, God will surely bring you shame. For Jesus Christ is a stone of stumbling. This is true for both Jews and Greeks.
A sister was severely oppressed by a religious spirit. She cried for a month, wanting to improve her pastoral skills and abilities. Can you pastor well by relying on your own wisdom and abilities? Later, when she broke free from the oppression of the religious spirit, she regained her joy. Don't think that what you do right or wrong will determine what happens to those you serve. In fact, as you pastor, you yourself grow. God values us more than what we do. We must grow in our ministry!
One of our brothers translated my recordings into Cantonese and preached them again. Later, I discovered that he was growing rapidly in his understanding of the truth. His wife, on the other hand, did not transcribe as much, and when asked, she became confused. We must know the good news: stop relying on your own wisdom! What do you think of yourself? Actually, you're not that great. We're all not that great to begin with. Doing well or not doing well doesn't matter! You simply need to continue seeking and growing in the process. As long as we grow, God will give us abundant grace.
Seeking Heavenly Wisdom
If we know that we lack heavenly wisdom and then strive to seek it, that is the greatest wisdom. To be a seeker, one must first acknowledge their own ignorance.
God looks down from heaven on the children of man to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. (Psalm 53:2)
The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. The wisdom of the Greeks is mere talk. The Jews seek signs, but Jesus Christ becomes a stumbling block to them. Never be conceited; our faith does not rest on the wisdom of men but on the power of God. Can you be a person of faith? Where does your faith lie?
My speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)
Faith is a very miraculous thing. If you have reached a leadership position in your company today, it is not your wisdom that plays a decisive role, but the work of God. One person said that every time they come to me, they gain a lot and harvest a lot because I transmit faith, not plausible words of wisdom. Let our faith be rekindled, and let us use God's wisdom to shepherd God's flock and gain heavenly wisdom.
Those who rely on themselves will almost certainly stumble. Our brothers and sisters must come out of the wisdom of men and gain God's heavenly wisdom. Some people like to look and listen everywhere, but this is not wisdom. They think they can draw on the strengths of many, but in reality, their minds have become a pot of assorted porridge. The heart of a fool is on the left, but the heart of a wise man is on the right. The natural human heart is on the left, discerning good and evil, indulging in the flesh – these are all human nature, while the wise are those who go against their nature.
Obtaining Wisdom Through Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and the church is the body of Jesus Christ. We must obtain wisdom through Jesus Christ.
and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ephesians 3:9-11)
This is Paul's theological concept. The church view of this generation is very fragile. If you come among us for a period of time and still do not have a complete view of the church, you cannot go on. The Book of Ephesians is a book for building the church and is very important. Everyone should know that the victorious church is the key to many ministries. A brother among us failed the deliverance test, but he liked to pray for many cancer and cerebral palsy patients. The demons behind those cancer and cerebral palsy patients are so fierce that basically this brother's prayer is of little use because the foundation is not right.
Many phenomena cannot be explained by human wisdom, but when you return to Paul's letters, you will find that many phenomena can be explained. Why does Jesus Christ have power, but your prayer for others is not effective? Because the church has not overcome. Know that the church needs God, not money. Whether you are a famous person or not, do not come to the church with a mentality of helping. Even if everyone is gone, God can raise up children of Abraham from stones. That is the God He is.
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
This is the will of Jesus Christ, so Jesus loves the church and gave himself up for her. The church is the heart of Jesus Christ, and we must gain the wisdom of Jesus Christ. If we want to have heavenly wisdom, we must have the concept of building God's glorious church. Do you want to be a victorious soldier and overcome with the church? Building God's glorious church requires heavenly wisdom.
Building the Church, Relying on God's Heavenly Wisdom
We must know that in everything we do, we must have an overall concept; we must never see the trees and not the forest. This is wisdom! Many pastors come among us to learn how to build a church. A preacher dropped out of his seminary courses to come to me, and I gave him my book to read. After reading it, he began to sigh, Building a church requires God's wisdom.
Among the pastors I know, some talk about psychology, some talk about management, but I talk about the power of God. The power of God is the most important. Without the power of God, can psychology and management be useful? It is as if someone wrote a program that cannot run in a computer. It must not be a problem with the computer, but a problem with our program. Knowing God is endless, and our minds must be constantly renewed and transformed into new wineskins so that God's fresh revelation can continue to fill us. Therefore, brothers and sisters, whatever you do, you must have an overall concept. Know that the framework concept is very important!
Recently, I removed a sister from the group. She did not know it was my instruction, so she argued with her pastor, crying and making various accusations. She was unwilling to repent, and she was unwilling to leave. She believed in the Lord, but she owed a lot of money, had no job, and stayed at home. Her relationship with her parents was also bad. She was extremely hurt and discerning good and evil. Later, we built a small group for her, and she threw the 101 course assignments there, thinking that we were ignoring her. In fact, I am very concerned about her growth. Her bitterness and unforgiveness, and her discernment of good and evil toward her mother, all came from her spiritual problems, but she did not think so. She just thought that people owed her. So people must not be foolish! Do not discern good and evil! Repent!
Later, she sent me a few voice messages with a crying tone. I knew that the things in her that discerned good and evil were about to be released, so I asked her pastor to contact her quickly and lead her in prayer to completely deal with the discernment of good and evil. Later, I told this sister that you are still very smart because you know what you need. We ministered to her for many hours, and she picked up a pen and paper and wrote seven or eight pages, writing her past summary and reflection. I believe this sister will come out and become a smart person.
Summary
If people come out of the discernment of good and evil but do not have Mingding Destiny, and do not have the determination to build the church, what are they doing? If it were not for God, seeing so many souls struggling in darkness, what could we do? We can do nothing. May God give us His wisdom so that we can rely on God's wisdom to build a glorious church and release these souls struggling in darkness. May our brothers and sisters all take on Mingding Destiny and jointly build God's glorious church, and gain heavenly wisdom! God will let us lack no good thing!
