[Bible Study] Judges Chapter 19 - Adultery Brings Disaster!

2025-03-05 713 Judges

Good day to you all. Let us turn to Judges, chapter 19. After reading this chapter, you will discover a succession of melodramatic events, with profound significance behind this soap opera. The theme of this chapter is Immorality Brings Calamity.

The Levite and His Concubine

Who exactly were they? In fact, he was the grandson of Moses. How can it be said that he was Moses' grandson? Because Moses' grandson went to Micah's house, fashioned an idol, and treated that place as the temple of Jehovah. The Levite said, Now I am going to the temple of Jehovah, but no one here welcomes me into their home. Because there was an ephod and idols there, he regarded it as the temple of Jehovah. Would you say that he was that Levite?

I think the author was too embarrassed to keep mentioning Moses, as the elder Moses also had some embarrassing moments. Therefore, the Levite's name is not mentioned. In the previous chapter, the author couldn't help but reveal this piece of information to us. The Levite was the grandson of Moses, and Moses' grandson was Jonathan. Jonathan's name sounds quite spiritual, but the things he encountered were beyond comprehension.

The Levite and his concubine match several details. The temple of Jehovah, he lived in the hill country of Ephraim, and his concubine was also from Bethlehem. When he set out, he left Bethlehem, actually taking his concubine and wife with him. The entire story is about his concubine committing adultery and then returning to her father's house in Bethlehem. Four months later, how he brought her back, and what happened on the way back, is the calamity brought about by immorality. The concubine's adultery is physical immorality, while the Levite's immorality is spiritual adultery.

This matter may cause some confusion for everyone. Do not think that building a church and becoming a pastor makes one a Levite. One might also be an adulterous Levite, which would be disastrous. Do not think that hanging a cross makes it a church, nor that claiming to be a church makes it the temple of Jehovah God. It is not that simple.

Even today, many brothers and sisters listen to my Bible studies and use my materials. However, you must be careful. Recently, a sister contacted us from afar because she was quite confused. After attending our gatherings for some time, she stopped coming. When asked why, it turned out she had gone to a physical gathering. The youth fellowship at the physical gathering involved eating and drinking, and the church eventually became a cafeteria, where one might even find a wealthy husband.

Her own learning was extremely confused, and she felt that was a church, so what was our online gathering? She began to feel confused. Therefore, we must understand that this matter is spiritual adultery. If you have a thorough understanding of the Bible, you will know that idolatry is adultery, especially for Christians, where idols often reside in their hearts. Once people worship idols in their hearts, they will surely encounter calamity.

I often hear people describe all kinds of calamities, and they come to us hoping to have demons cast out and receive healing and deliverance. Only a small number of people seek Mingding Destiny, with healing and deliverance being the most common requests. Why do these calamities befall these people?

A girl told us that she was unemployed, dismissed from her job. Therefore, a lack of faithfulness to God is also adultery, cuckolding God, and the consequences are dire. God does not receive much faithfulness but receives many acts of infidelity. For example, this Levite engaged in spiritual adultery, and his concubine engaged in physical adultery. He cuckolded God, and his concubine cuckolded him, with cuckoldry all around, while thinking it was the temple of Jehovah God.

Spiritual Adultery

What is spiritual adultery? It is treating an idol as God. For example, if you make a statue of Buddha, then just worship Buddha properly, and the situation may not be so bad. The worst thing is to create an idol and think it is Jehovah God, which is extremely confusing. Do not think that just because you are Moses' grandson, nicknamed Jonathan, and you make an idol, and you recite the books of the law while also reading the Bible, that this is Jehovah. In fact, this is taking the name of Jehovah in vain.

Taking the name of Jehovah in vain is a serious problem, even more serious than not honoring one's parents. Therefore, calamity befell this Levite. The Levite was quite a peculiar person. In fact, being a Christian or a pastor carries risks. If you are a Levite, or among the Levites, you become Moses' grandson, then the risk is even greater. The risk of being a person comes in varying degrees. We must understand that physical adultery and spiritual adultery are not the same thing, with spiritual adultery preceding physical adultery.

For example, Jesus said that if a man looks at a beautiful woman and lusts in his heart, he has already committed adultery. Do you know what this is? It is the spirit of adultery. The Bible uses spiritual words to explain spiritual matters, and all things have spiritual roots. Do not think that physical adultery comes first; spiritual adultery always comes first. When the spirit of adultery is upon a person, there is an evil force, and they cannot control themselves.

It is said that a school principal had an evil force in him and liked to sexually assault elementary school students. He was eventually caught and sentenced. In reality, he didn't want to do it himself, because he felt bad afterwards, but when that evil force came over him, he couldn't control himself. Therefore, it is the Spirit who gives life; it is also the spirit who brings death. Those with evil forces should be careful, as the evil force may cause them to commit a great disaster.

Moses' grandson wanted to go to the hill country of Ephraim because he could no longer make a living in Bethlehem of Judah. He was a Levite, who should have served in the temple, helping the priests with the services in the temple. Later, no one hired him because he had poor service and was not willing to serve God.

He wanted to be a priest and prayed all day long. Do not think that praying in the name of Jesus will accomplish anything, although you may see things come to pass, but they will bring calamity. The Levite had a spirit of adultery in his heart. He prayed to go to a place, hoping to meet someone who would take him in and make him a priest in their household. As a result, he went to Micah's house in the hill country of Ephraim, and Micah indeed welcomed him. Micah's house had an ephod and idols. And they really appointed him as the priest of their household.

This Levite would surely thank God, saying, God, you are so accurate, so timely, with so much confirmation. Chinese Mingding Destiny pursues a full understanding of God in the mind. We rarely talk about confirmation. Until today, the confirmations I have heard, such as a pastor telling you, I feel that the two of you are simply a match made in heaven, and then you marry and end up with a husband who frequents prostitutes, which is distressing. Therefore, we in Chinese Mingding Destiny do not emphasize confirmation but emphasize fully knowing God in the mind.

The Levite found a job. Micah gave him ten shekels a year, and provided room and board. The ten shekels all went into the bank account. And then? This time, he encountered his concubine returning to her parents' home because she had committed adultery. So, he thought about bringing her back.

Adulterous People Often Make Confused Decisions

Because the spirit of adultery is in a person, you will have many confirmations, but people often make decisions based on confusion, and they themselves do not know that the decision is confused. His concubine committed adultery and was driven back to her father's house. So, his concubine returned to her parents' home. But he still had to bring the concubine back. The concubine was not his first wife, nor his wife, but just a concubine. The Levite brought the concubine back home because he had the spirit of adultery in him, and sometimes he would attract this kind of adulterous person, marrying an adulterous concubine.

The spirit of adultery in a person has a super strong sexual desire. This point sounds a bit like an aside. After his concubine returned to her parents' home for four months, he really missed her, forgetting about the cuckoldry. Why did he miss her so much? Because the spirit of adultery within him drove him to think that way. Therefore, a person with an evil spirit has an evil force, resulting in a very confused decision. He rode a donkey with a servant to his father-in-law's house in Bethlehem of Judah, to bring his concubine back.

His relationship with his concubine was originally okay, but sometimes when the evil force came over her, she would commit adultery with others. It is unclear exactly with whom she committed adultery, whether it was Micah or Micah's sons. She just had an evil force. Adulterous people have confused minds. Ponder this slowly. Do not befriend adulterous people, or you will be very distressed, because you will understand at times and not understand at others. For example, some people have the spirit of adultery, have many girlfriends, and also run nightclubs, so there will definitely be many calamities in their homes.

I met a person who ran nightclubs. I told him about the issue of curses. If you have sexual relations with others, you share the curses. For example, if one person has 30 curses, then two people have 60, and three people have 90. If the concubine commits adultery with others, then it becomes 120. Then he said he had eighteen thousand curses on him. Life is not easy, it will be hard, there will be many calamities, and many problems will arise.

The Levite's first confused decision was to bring the concubine back. The second confusion was that after arriving at the place, his father-in-law kept him eating and drinking. Suddenly one evening, his father-in-law wanted him to stay, but he insisted on traveling at night in this chaotic and turbulent place. If he had to leave, he should have left in the morning, but he insisted on leaving at night. An adulterous person is confused at this time, let alone learning anything. In the end, they cannot learn anything. People's minds are controlled by the spiritual realm, and the feelings in people's bodies are also controlled by the spiritual realm.

My research on evil spirits goes a bit deep. Let me give you an example. If an evil spirit attaches itself to a person, if it is a spirit of headache, it will cause a headache. If it is a spirit of stomachache, it will cause a stomachache. If it is a spirit of itchy skin, it will cause itchy skin. If it is a spirit of joint pain, it will cause joint pain. There are many kinds of pain, such as aching pain, tingling pain.

A person sought me out for prayer, saying that his whole body felt like being stabbed with needles. That is not actually needles, but evil spirits. So, the sensation of pain and other sensations in the brain, such as feeling depressed, are all evil spirits. Why is Jesus Christ the gospel of casting out demons? Because taking medicine does not work well, only casting out demons can solve the problem.

Many things related to feelings are evil spirits. If someone makes a decision, it is often controlled by the spiritual realm. Why did he leave? What did he say? He said, I want to return to the temple of my Jehovah. Of course, this temple refers to Jerusalem, and at that time the temple was in Shiloh. So at this time, it is quite chaotic to return to the temple of Jehovah. What kind of logic is this? If you return to the temple of Jehovah, you can't sleep another night and then leave.

As a result, he went to a very evil place called Gibeah. His servant suggested going to Jerusalem, but his concubine said no, she had to go to where the Israelites lived. Gibeah, where the Israelites lived, was inhabited by the Benjamites, and the Jebusites lived in Jerusalem. His concubine insisted on going to Gibeah, but little did she know that Gibeah was even more promiscuous than Jebus.

Later, I realized that Christians are deceived by Christians, and many Christians are liars. I don't think he is a Christian just because he says he is a Christian. So we must have spiritual discernment, because you don't know when he is a Christian and when he is a liar. People carry evil spirits, and you must use spiritual discernment to see the Levite and understand that it is spiritual fornication. We must know that it is the Spirit of God that gives life, and it is the spirit of demons that brings death. The spirit of fornication is a very evil spirit. The Levite may not know until he dies that these things are related to his making an idol and calling it the temple of Jehovah.

Someone said, What's going on with homosexuality? Actually, it's all spiritual. Two people are like toads looking at mung beans and hitting it off, no matter how they look at each other. Feeling is not understanding, feeling is a spirit, so whatever spirit a person has, he does. The Levite and his concubine arrived in Gibeah and sat at the city gate, but no one received him. Then an old man came back from the field and received him. As a result, they stayed in this old man's house for only one night, and something happened.

Encountered a group of promiscuous bandits

Why did the bandits like them so much and insist on calling them out? It was because the Levite had an evil energy in him. The things people encounter are all spiritual matters, so some people encounter this kind of thing, and some people don't. The reason they don't encounter it is because they don't carry this evil spirit. If you have the Spirit of God, the Spirit of God will protect you, and you won't make such a foolish decision, insisting on staying in Gibeah for one night. Where else can't you stay? As a result, you encountered bad luck.

I once ministered to a brother who often encountered customers who didn't pay him when he did business. Later, he said to me, Pastor, why doesn't this customer pay me? Can you help me drive away the demons in him? Did everyone hear the problem? He thought that the reason that person didn't pay him was because someone else had a demon. I said, The reason you encounter this kind of thing is not because of others, but because you yourself have this kind of demon. So, whoever encounters bad luck must have a demon of bad luck. Among these demons of bad luck are fear and fornication. Where do these demons come from? They come from people disobeying God's word. Even if the demons don't want to come, God has to send a few over. This logic has to be established.

If you see someone having bad luck, you must know that this is a demon, an evil spirit. Will that evil spirit harass you? You have to try it. I have seen many brothers and sisters encounter some very strange things. They have grandparents on both sides of their family. If they deal with their paternal grandparents, they will have bad luck and definitely suffer losses. If they deal with their maternal grandparents, they are fine. This has to do with things in the spiritual realm.

Sometimes you feel uncomfortable after talking to some people, but you don't feel uncomfortable after talking to other people, and you even feel better. The reason is that talking transmits evil spirits. Actually, the problem is not what kind of people or things you encounter, the key is whether you are a victorious person. If you are the victorious Jacob, you will not encounter these things. If you are Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, there is no problem.

So the Levite encountered bad luck and encountered a group of promiscuous bandits. Let's call it Gibeah County. The Benjamites live in the county. The bandits in Gibeah County should actually be the children of high-ranking officials, because the next chapter explains to you that when they did these things, when the Israelites came to attack them, they were asked to hand over the bandits, but they didn't hand them over. Can the children of high-ranking officials be handed over? His father is the county magistrate, or his family members are leaders of the tribe of Benjamin, so can they be handed over?

The tribe of Benjamin is also a very evil tribe, so they encountered these bandits, who insisted on dragging the Levite out. Then, after discussing it back and forth, they either gave them the old man's daughter or the Levite's concubine. There was a spirit of fornication in the bandits of Gibeah, and there was also a spirit of fornication in the concubine. Suddenly, a large force met and liked each other. Actually, this concubine was also quite unlucky, and in the end, she was brutally treated by the evil spirits.

This concubine liked to cuckold her husband and commit adultery, so she was abused to the point of almost dying. She should have been abused in the street. The county is not big, just one street. She crawled back from the old man's house and died as soon as she reached the threshold. Actually, she didn't have to die, but it was because the spirit of fornication brings misfortune and death.

We must know that melodramatic dramas are also very common in this generation. The root cause is still fornication. For example, the husband kills the wife, or the wife is killed by the husband. There are many things like this. There was a news story more than ten years ago about a girl from Peking University who married a boy from Tsinghua University. That was a perfect match, a talented man and a beautiful woman. But because this husband talked to some people outside, the woman suspected him and poisoned him, and later he died. After his death, it was discovered that he had thallium poisoning. After investigation, it was found that the girl was a scientist in chemistry. She took the thallium from the lab to her home and gave it to her husband, and finally he died from eating it. Although she was good at chemistry, she used it all for this kind of thing.

So we must know how the concubine died. She was killed by evil spirits. After she was abused, she saw demons pulling her away. A person who is unlucky encounters unlucky things. Why did she run to Gibeah? Because of the guidance of evil spirits, a person is either guided by evil spirits throughout their life, or guided by the Spirit of God throughout their life. Who do you want to be guided by? Those who are guided by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Israelites entered the land of Canaan and did so many things, which belonged to everyone doing as they pleased.

In the years of Jesus Christ, casting out demons became a very important thing. A prostitute had seven evil spirits, and Jesus cast the demons out of her. There was also the woman who broke the alabaster jar and anointed the Lord. They were all freed by Jesus, so we must cast out demons. Some time ago, a sister shared with us that her church was fighting because half of them were in favor of speaking in tongues and half were against it, just like the parliament of a certain country.

The evil spirit wanted to spread the disaster to Israel. The Gibeahites and the tribe of Benjamin were almost killed. He made an idol, entered Micah's house, became a priest of a tribe, committed adultery with a concubine, returned home, brought her back from her parents' home, and encountered the bandits of Gibeah. Then the concubine died, which foreshadowed an even greater disaster for Israel. Why doesn't God care? If you want to do this, God will let you do it, almost destroying a tribe.

The Levite cut the body into twelve pieces and sent them to all parts of Israel. He carried the body to what he thought was the temple of Jehovah, because he thought he was a very pious person, a very powerful pastor and priest, and he thought he had God in his heart. Micah also thought it was Jehovah God. After offering sacrifices and praying there, he divided the body into twelve pieces and sent them to the various tribes of Israel. As a result, the various tribes had never done or seen anything like this. Now they should think and discuss how to deal with it.

If you have spiritual discernment, you will definitely know that the evil spirit is directing a farce! So never act arbitrarily, because acting arbitrarily is definitely not the teaching of God. Some people think that speaking in tongues is good, and some people think that speaking in tongues is not good. This is not the teaching of God. The teaching of God is clearly written in the Bible. Whether in or outside the church, many of these disasters are related to spiritual fornication. People don't want to understand what God's word is saying, and they just believe in their own set of things. So many people don't know until they die that this is not the temple of Jehovah, not the body of Jesus Christ. It turns out that Moses' grandson started a business in Micah's house, which resulted in one disaster after another.

You may not understand why it was not the Ephraimites who died, why it was not the tribe of Dan, or those people in the hill country of Ephraim, but a tribe of Benjamin. Because the evil spirit wants to corrupt God's people. The Spirit of God wants to save us and protect us, but the evil spirit doesn't care which tribe you are from. Whoever he wants to corrupt, he will corrupt.

The burden on our shoulders is still heavy. Everyone must engrave God's word in their hearts. I hope you can become a person who seeks and knows God, and may the knowledge of God fill the ocean like the sea. Never be half-baked and think that you are Moses' grandson, and then make an idol and become even more powerful. Actually, it's all a mess.

Even today, sometimes I still feel uncomfortable in my heart, and I still think of seeing them do these things. It's really hard. In the same church, some people approve of speaking in tongues in the morning, and some people don't approve of speaking in tongues in the afternoon. In some churches, some people don't approve of speaking in tongues in the morning, and some people approve of speaking in tongues in the afternoon. I also admire these people.

I have a suggestion for everyone: never get close to the Levite. This place has an idol, a cross, an ephod, and a priest, and it's also Moses' grandson. Don't get close to this thing. Seek God well, and God will reveal to us, and you will surely know God. Never go your own foolish way, take the name of Jehovah in vain, and treat idolatry as worshiping God, and the result is that fornication brings disaster.

May God bless everyone!
