Case Study: A Patient Bound by Traditional Beliefs Seeking Healing and Deliverance Ministry

After discussion, this recording can be listened to:

Objectives

  1. How to minister to patients with erroneous theological beliefs.
  2. Learn how to lead people to understand the original teachings of the Bible.

Specific Case Description

During our healing and deliverance event, a sister named Xiaojing came. She has been a Christian for many years, and has suffered from dysmenorrhea for many years. Although she has seen Jesus cast out demons and heal the sick in the Bible, in the teachings she has received, those were all things that happened two thousand years ago. Today, science is well-developed, medicine is well-developed, and the Bible has been formed. Now God no longer uses healing and deliverance to preach the gospel. We are saved today, and when we die, we can rest from our earthly labors, and when we reach heaven, there will be no more diseases and no more pain. In fact, Xiaojing's confusion is constantly increasing. She often listens to many different messages online. Every time she has menstrual pain, she takes painkillers or even takes time off to rest. By chance, she received a flyer for the Chinese Mingding Destiny healing and deliverance event and fearfully read the information on the website, afraid of falling into heresy, losing her salvation, and not being able to go to heaven. However, after listening to a few messages, she felt that what was being said was very reasonable and were all teachings from the Bible. So she contacted the assistant.

Discussion based on the following scenarios

Scenario 1: When contacted, she is experiencing her period, with excruciating pain, cold abdomen, cold hands and feet, and despite taking painkillers, she is still in great discomfort. After praying for a while, she feels better and the pain disappears. How should you continue to minister to her?

Scenario 2: After praying with her, the pain subsides somewhat, but then returns with intense agony. This repeats several times. Nothing seems to help, and she is in great pain. An hour passes, and she seems hesitant. How should you minister to her?

Scenario 3: Her period has just ended recently. She is now well. After exchanging pleasantries, you enter into a normal conversation, and she begins to trust you. She shares many inner confusions, holding traditional theological views regarding charismatic gifts, heresies, speaking in tongues, and evil spirits, seemingly with a superficial understanding. How should you minister to her in this situation?

Guiding Ideas and Focus Points for Discussion

Regarding Scenario 1:

  • How to establish a ministry relationship in the shortest possible time

  • How to build her faith through ministry

  • How to dispel her concerns and fears

  • How to guide her to examine critical scriptures of truth

Regarding Scenario 2:

  • How to establish a ministry relationship in the shortest possible time

  • As a new person with a weak pastoral connection, how to continuously adopt different methods to build her faith in the face of this situation

  • Learn to discern when to stop ministering and when to persist

  • Learn how to use various techniques to guide her to persevere until victory

Regarding Scenario 3:

  • How to start a discussion on topics and foundational beliefs

  • How to encourage her to explore the truth and begin studying healing and deliverance courses or 101 courses

  • How to arrange a way for her to contact us when menstrual pain occurs next time

  • Because of the severe menstrual pain, it can be inferred that she has a severe habit of discerning good and evil. Try to understand her interpersonal relationships and other physical problems.

  • Try to exercise the gift of prophetic prediction, stating her problems in advance. If the other party feels offended or does not admit it, how to handle it tactfully

  • If the other party has challenges in language, with a tone of argument, how to handle it

  • How to assign homework, being careful not to be passive, as if we need her
