Introduction

Today, I will share a topic with you all titled, If there be famine in the land, if there be pestilence, when they spread forth their hands toward this house. These past few days, watching the news has caused me great pain. Our nation is facing an unprecedented epidemic, at least unprecedented since my childhood. The SARS outbreak in 2003 pales in comparison to this epidemic, which is even named after a city in our country.

Now is the time for us to lift our hands in prayer in God's temple, to humble ourselves before God, to pray and seek His face, and to turn from our wicked ways. We believe that God will hear from heaven. Let us all pray together: Lord! We lift our hands in prayer toward Your temple; may You hear our cries from Your throne in heaven; Lord, grant grace and mercy in this generation, so that our nation, through the cries of Your people, may receive grace and mercy, and may our nation turn back to You, in the name of Jesus Christ! Amen!

Recently, I was stopped while driving. The officer asked me to roll down my window and presented me with a rather amusing challenge. Initially, I was unsure what he wanted. He spoke to me in English, so I replied in English, counting from one to ten. Then he asked me to say it in Mandarin, which I did, and he let me pass. At the time, I wondered what that was all about, as I had never encountered such a thing. Later, I understood. It seems that not only Singapore, but according to the news, the whole world is screening people from Wuhan. How tragic! Seeing people from Wuhan fleeing within their own country is a very strange situation.

In fact, Wuhan is a very famous city, as we all know very well. In the past, some second-tier cities were vying to be ranked, trying to become the new first-tier cities of the future. All those vying for ranking were on the list. People have a very peculiar trait: a sense of regional pride. In Beijing, I noticed that Beijingers have a sense of pride; they feel very proud to be from Beijing. Later, I went to Shanghai and met Shanghainese, and I discovered that they too were very proud. I later found that this is the case in many cities: I am from such-and-such city, they say with pride. There is one city whose people I have interacted with quite a bit, and in communicating with them, I can intuitively sense their strong sense of pride, tinged with a bit of arrogance.

This reminds me of a very interesting passage in Ecclesiastes, Chapter 7, verse 25:

I applied mine heart to know, and to search, and to seek out wisdom, and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly, even of foolishness and madness. (Ecclesiastes 7:25 KJV)

In fact, there is one evil in all that is done under the sun: that the same fate befalls all men. The hearts of men are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live, and afterward they go to the dead.

Over the years, I have come to some conclusions based on my own experience; I cannot speak for others. From a young age, I had a smooth and fortunate life. But over the years, I have found that whenever I am arrogant, I reveal my foolishness, and arrogance directly brings disaster. Fortunately, I am quick to change; I quickly learn humility when disaster strikes. To this day, I am still learning humility. I encourage you to examine yourself carefully and see if this is the case. Whenever people are arrogant, proud, and conceited, they are not far from disaster. The brothers and sisters in our church often have a strong sense of pride: I am in Chinese Mingding Destiny, but I urge you not to be arrogant.

In fact, disasters are closely related to human arrogance. People must know that they are human. What man will conquer nature? When have we ever conquered it? In the face of natural disasters, how pale and helpless are human beings! But there is no choice but to cheer ourselves on: I will use my own hands to create my destiny! When can you create your destiny with your own hands? What will you use to create your destiny? In fact, one disaster can bring life to an end. So I encourage you, I encourage myself, never to be arrogant, and to know that we are human.

Some time ago, a friend told me about something that happened in his company. One of his colleagues, who is from a certain city in mainland China, wrote a calligraphy on his desk with his own brush: I am God. If you really are God, then go and solve the coronavirus, isn't it? In fact, people need to know that they are human. What can we do in the face of famine and pestilence? In fact, there is very little we can do.

For example, with SARS in 2003, people were not very clear about how the virus came about, nor were they very clear about how it disappeared. In fact, in the face of famine and pestilence, all people can do is call upon the God in heaven, to forgive our arrogance, and to hear our prayers. In fact, unexpected events and uncontrollable low-probability events are called black swans. Often, these sudden events and disasters determine the course of things. This is true for both nations and individuals. In one's life, disasters truly determine one's destiny.

For example, some people get cancer. Recently, I personally witnessed two people pass away. These are all sudden events. They worked hard and struggled, but later, they got cancer and their lives came to an end. After studying it for a long time, I came to this conclusion: disasters determine a person's destiny, that is, disasters are a turning point.

You know, the insurance industry does not cover natural disasters. What are natural disasters? In English, it is called act of God, that is, the direct act of God. In Chinese, we call it天灾 (tiān zāi), disasters from heaven, and insurance does not cover you. When you are in a disaster, you can hate God, hate heaven: Why is God so unfair to me? But it is useless. When natural disasters come, you can only ask God in heaven for mercy. It is best not to encounter them. But what if you do encounter them? Today, I encourage everyone, in times of famine and pestilence, to remember to pray toward God's sanctuary, toward God's temple. Unbelievers will not hear what I am saying. It doesn't matter if they don't hear it; they will know it later.

Scripture

If there be dearth in the land, if there be pestilence, if there be blasting, or mildew, locusts, or caterpillers; if their enemies besiege them in the cities of their land; whatsoever sore or whatsoever sickness there be: Then what prayer or what supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all your people Israel, when every one shall know his own sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house: Then hear you from heaven your dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart you know; (for you only know the hearts of the children of men;) That they may fear you, to walk in your ways, so long as they live in the land which you gave unto our fathers. Moreover concerning the stranger, which is not of your people Israel, but is come from a far country for your great name's sake, and your mighty hand, and your stretched out arm; if they come and pray in this house; Then hear you from the heavens, even from your dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to you for; that all people of the earth may know your name, and fear you, as do your people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by your name. (2 Chronicles 6:28-33 KJV)

Prayer

God, in this generation of rampant pestilence, may You inspire us to begin building Your glorious temple, so that Your people may lift their hands in prayer in Your sanctuary, interceding for this generation, that we may be a blessing to this generation, and that the people in the plague may see hope from You; Lord, raise us up today, so that we all know in our hearts that You have brought us into the world, and that You have a great plan for us; that is, to take on the Mingding Destiny of this generation and become a blessing to this generation, in order to manifest Your glory and release Your grace and mercy; raise us up today, to become people of prayer and seeking, to become a blessing to this generation, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Background of the Scripture

The background of this passage is Solomon becoming king. Solomon was the son of David. When David was alive, he had a wish. He said, God, I live in a palace, and You live in a tent. I want to build a temple for You. God said, No, I will raise up your son to build the temple. David was wholeheartedly devoted to building a temple for God, but God did not permit it, so he accumulated hundreds of tons of gold for God's temple.

Later, he had many sons. One was named Adonijah. David's first few sons were not suitable. Absalom rebelled and was later killed. Amnon raped his half-sister, and as a result, the birthright fell to Adonijah. Later, David married Bathsheba. Bathsheba was not his first wife. Bathsheba's experience is even more interesting because David plotted and killed Bathsheba's husband, Uriah, who was a general in David's army. Some time ago, I shared this with a brother, and he said he could not understand.

Later, this Adonijah wanted to become king, but David chose Solomon instead. Whether he chose Solomon because his mother was Bathsheba is not very important. From a young age, Solomon was very intelligent. He saw his father David's wholehearted devotion to building a temple for God, and Solomon often discussed with his father how to build the temple. David's other sons, including Adonijah, were not very interested in building the temple.

Solomon was intelligent and cared about building the temple, so he became king. If we were to follow the order of succession, he had many older brothers. Not only did David choose Solomon to be king, but God also delighted in him being king. God delighted in people building a temple for Him. Why did Solomon build the temple as the first thing after becoming king? Because he felt that people needed God's temple while they were alive, and with God's temple, they could pray in God's sanctuary. My father accumulated hundreds of tons of gold, copper, and wood. I must build a temple for my God. Building the temple was Solomon's inner choice.

A person who pleases God can become king. Why? Because of building the temple. Why build the temple? Because people need the temple, they need to lift their hands in prayer; why do we need to build the temple and pray in the temple? Because there are too many problems in the world that cannot be solved. The only thing we can do is pray in God's temple. Today, if you have many problems, I tell you that God can solve your problems. Didn't you just give a forty-minute testimony? If prayer can solve the problem of healing, then wouldn't that be great? Today, there are many difficulties in medicine. Don't think that people don't need God. People need God very much.

Some time ago, I prayed for a sister because she had almost all the symptoms of Wuhan pneumonia: chest tightness, a cold, and a sore throat. Her husband insulted her and scolded her. What era is this? Science is so advanced. Why do you still believe in these things? In fact, every era needs God, doesn't it? Her husband thought she should go to the hospital, but now, with the symptoms of Wuhan pneumonia, there is no medicine in the hospital that can cure it. Regardless of whether there is medicine or not, I am very sure that when I led her in prayer, she was healed on the spot. As a result, the next morning, her husband had a cold, a sore throat, and difficulty breathing.

Don't think that atheism is high-end, and don't think that believing in science is high-end. Don't think that you are your own God. If you are your own God, then face the Wuhan pneumonia yourself! Don't think that with the development of science, there will be fewer and fewer problems. Look at today's generation; science has developed, but there are more problems.

Some time ago, a bomb killed a general. They immediately retaliated, and then the two sides began to compete. Science has developed, but are there fewer problems? No. Today, human society faces as many problems as the Stone Age and the time of the Yellow Emperor. Perhaps we have more.

King Solomon was very powerful, he was very wealthy, but he knew very well that he needed God in that generation. The Israelite kingdom ruled by Solomon was a very strong country in that generation, but he knew that there were still many problems that could not be solved. Therefore, he said, God, please give me wisdom so that I can manage this country well. Solomon became the symbol of wisdom in that generation. If you really want your son to have wisdom, then name him Solomon, because Solomon represents wisdom. Later, the Queen of Sheba also came to visit him.

The background of this passage is that Solomon spent many years building the temple. He brought the Ark of the Covenant in and placed it inside, strictly following what his father David had received from God, step by step. After the temple was built, he prayed before the temple:

This is Solomon's prayer to God. After he finished praying, an shocking thing happened:

Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house. And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth forever. Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord. And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. (2 Chronicles 7:1-5 KJV)

Imagine slaughtering tens of thousands of cattle and sheep. What a huge project this is! Solomon poured all the strength of the country into doing this, and in his view, this was the most important thing. The passage before Solomon's prayer is very interesting.

Solomon said this:

But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built? Have respect therefore to the prayer of your servant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken unto the cry and the prayer which your servant prays before you: That your eyes may be open upon this house day and night, upon the place whereof you have said that you would put your name there; to hearken unto the prayer which your servant shall make toward this place. (2 Chronicles 6:18-20 KJV)

We must know that God does not dwell in temples made with human hands. Why build a temple then? Because this is God's will. We ask God to dwell in the temple we build for Him, so that God can be with us. The most important thing we live in this world, if we have to find it, is that God is with us. This temple was revealed by God and drawn for David. Last week, I talked about being afraid of God's words, that is, we must build completely according to God's revelation.

The church we speak of is God's temple. Solomon did exactly as God revealed. Today, I am also building God's temple very seriously. The temple built by Solomon has God's glory filled in the temple. He lifted his hands in prayer to God, and God heard him. Observe carefully; through the church I am building, do you see God's glory filling the temple? This is what I am most grateful for! What is missing in this generation is the glorious church of God.

Then, God appeared and said:

And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice.

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there forever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. (2 Chronicles 7:12-16 KJV)

From the first day I started building the church, what has been in me from beginning to end is this kind of glorious church. My hope is to build the glorious church of God.

What Is Missing in This Generation Is the Glorious Church of God

We must know that whether prayer is effective or not is closely related to the church. Don't just find a place and think it is God's dwelling place. It is because Solomon and David prayed and pleaded there that God chose this place to set apart as holy, so that God's own name may be there forever, and God's eyes and God's heart will always be there. There are many prayers that are not effective in the church. Today, you will find that prayer is effective among us. The question is whether you are praying toward the temple chosen by God; this is the decisive factor.

If you find a small, broken house, put a memorial tablet inside, or hang a cross, praying there should not be effective. The church chosen by God, the church where God is present, is different from the church where God is not present and has not been chosen. The question is, on what are we building the church?

The Bible says, If you build the church, build it on the rock of Jesus Christ. Build God's church according to God's revelation and according to the truth, and then build the church on the rock of Jesus Christ, and God will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and God will let us bind on earth what has been bound in heaven; what has been released on earth will be released in heaven. Because this is the church chosen by God, the church where God is present, the result is completely different.

This is the greatest honour of my life. Without it, I would not know what to live for. Life, in fact, is quite a dull affair. Ever since I can remember, I have felt that living is rather tiresome. Actually, the Word of God is very clear. How to build the church is all recorded clearly in the 《Bible》, only that people do not do it according to it. How to build God's sanctuary, God's church, these years I have been constantly seeking as I read the 《Bible》and pray. When encountering phenomena that are not clearly explained, such as prayers not working, or more problems arising after prayer, it is because people have not built the dwelling place chosen and sanctified by God according to God's Word.

The church is the house of God. Therefore, I highly value the Word of God. I continuously summarised the Word of God piece by piece, and I created the Chinese Mingding Destiny system. Later, I discovered that the Chinese Mingding Destiny system was not my invention. It was originally written very clearly in the 《Bible》. I merely summarised the words from the 《Bible》.

Let me give you a few examples: In 《Exodus》, the Israelites came out of Egypt. The 《Bible》 says, The armies of the Lord went out from Egypt. So the church should be the army of God. In 《Numbers》, it says, Those 20 years old or more, all who could bear arms for service. It turns out that only those who can fight count. Therefore, the church that is built is the army of God. The church must train brothers and sisters to fight the good fight for God on the spiritual battlefield.

Some time ago, I compiled these and wrote a book, 《The Chinese Mingding Destiny System》. In the past few weeks, we have been holding the 《Global Online Seminar》, discussing the theological system of healing and deliverance. A few days ago, it was the third lecture on the theological system of healing and deliverance. At the end of the lecture, I did a small demonstration, leading in prayer for about ten or twenty seconds. As a result, yesterday I saw a message on the website saying that her body was healed after praying with me. It really worked well, but I don't even know who she is!

After I finished speaking that day, I joined a discussion with several people whom I knew, people I had served before. They told me about their experiences. One sister said that her husband had been unable to travel by car for many years, getting dizzy as soon as he got in. One of our co-workers ministered to her and her husband. She said that worms crawled out of her husband's ears, looking very ugly and hideous. Later, they continued to pray, and more worms crawled out of his body. When I heard this, it was like a fairy tale. Later, she sent me the photos. She had sent them before, but this time I personally heard her explain it to me. All her own illnesses were also healed.

Sitting next to her was someone I had met before, who had stomach cancer a few years ago and is now completely healed. After hearing their testimonies, I thanked my God. I finally saw that the church I had built for God according to His Word had become the dwelling place and temple chosen by God, and it is good to have God's presence!

Ten years ago, my father had a minor illness, a small cold. He was sent to the hospital and never came out again. If at that time I had the situation I have today, with God's glorious church, wouldn't it have been too easy to pray? But ten years ago, I was helpless and without aid. Thank God, today I see God's presence, see God's temple being built, what a grace it is!

I used to recite the 《Apostles' Creed》 and the 《Nicene Creed》 fluently, but I found that they were not effective. It's not that these things are wrong, these books are not wrong, but they are not effective. As a result, the people who memorised these were basically deceived by Eastern Lightning. Later, I constantly read the 《Bible》, prayed, and sought God. I asked God many questions, constantly praying and seeking, including from the first chapter of 《Genesis》 to the end of 《Revelation》, every passage was constantly praying and seeking God.

I truly thank my God, our God is a God of revelation. He opened my spiritual eyes and let me know the truth of these words. I wrote four books on 《Genesis》 and two books of study materials on 《Revelation》. If you ask me if there is anyone on the market, on the internet, who studies the 《Bible》 better than me, I don't think so. This may be boasting, or maybe there is someone I don't know, but I think my commentaries on 《Genesis》 and 《Revelation》 are very good, they came from God's revelation. Today the church has such power, our ministry today has such obvious manifestation of power, because we follow God's Word, constantly seek and pray, and then see God's revelation, the church is filled with God's glorious presence.

Recently, many people with viral colds have come to us for prayer, from children to adults, all have been healed. I long for desperate people to know, even if they are unbelieving Gentiles, I want them to know, I want to serve them. But today they don't believe, they believe in doctors. The plagues that are coming will become more and more serious, may people know God. If you feel that these disasters, calamities, and diseases are very bitter, you can learn to pray towards this temple.

Yesterday I saw someone praying online: Lord, please grant good scientists to invent good medicines, please grant good doctors. I was puzzled, Solomon did not pray like this. In fact, God is the best doctor. They just don't pray, saying, God, build your glorious temple, build your glorious church; Lord, please heal this land. They just don't ask for this, but what this generation needs most is a church filled with God's glory.

If you read the 《Bible》 carefully, constantly implement God's Word, and constantly dismantle the worldly logic system, you will surely see the coming of God's presence. Disaster awakens the mind, if people are still arrogant in disaster, when will they be arrogant without disaster? Today, when we see these disasters, we must see ourselves as human beings. We must see this generation, we need the God of heaven, we need God's temple, we can raise our hands in prayer in God's temple.

If today you hear our testimonies on our website, none of them are fabricated, they are all problems that people cannot solve. Why can they all be solved? Because a group of people has built His glorious temple. I encourage you to come among us, desire to be like us, begin to fear God, and strive to dismantle the worldly logic system within yourself. If you build your hope on worldly hope, what will you use to resist when disaster comes? Today we are in a generation where disasters are rampant.

Fear of God is Wisdom

So that they may fear you all the days that they live in the land you gave our ancestors. “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple, then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name. (《2 Chronicles》 6:31-33 )

Whether you are a Christian or not, you must fear God. You must know that we are human, God is a God of retribution, God is a God who repays people according to their deeds. Today we are not qualified to be arrogant, but we are arrogant. How can God not repay people? Disaster makes people fear God. In our ancient times, we called the emperor the Son of Heaven. The concept of divine beast of imperial power has been like this in China since ancient times.

There is the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, and many people go to worship every year. They call the emperor the Son of Heaven. Today we must know that there is heaven beyond heaven, and there are people beyond people. The emperor is not called the heavenly father but the Son of Heaven to fear the God of heaven. Therefore, to fear God all our lives and to follow His ways, trembling because of God's Word, this is our duty.

Recently, I have found in my ministry that there are many among us who do not fear God. Recently, there have been many colds and fevers. Later, I realised one thing, that God would not make mistakes, nor would demons make mistakes, nor would the spirit of plague make mistakes, because these people with colds and fevers have very strong worldly concepts. Have they truly kept and followed God's ways, fearing God all their lives? No! Although I led them in prayer and they were healed, the problem has not been completely solved. The fundamental solution to the problem is to tremble because of God's Word, to fear God and follow His ways all our lives. Even if you are a Gentile, but through our ministry, you receive grace, you must also begin to learn to know God, fear Him, like God's people, so that you know that the church I have built today bears His Name.

There are many among us who have received grace and left. Yesterday I was chatting with someone I used to serve and said, I have never morally blackmailed anyone. After praying and being healed, you can do whatever you want. But I found that very few people who are healed are willing to continue to know God, willing to stay and be called God's people. About five out of a hundred is good, others just go back to loving the world again. What happens when disaster comes again? Today, the logical system of trusting in God has not been established, and your words and deeds are filled with worldly logical systems.

For example, some time ago, one of our pastors ministered to a nurse in an epidemic area. The nurse said, If I die, I die, I can still get compensation. What kind of talk is this? It is still a worldly system. Old Ma is the name behind this plague, still carrying Old Ma's logic system. Some people are afraid of death and viruses, some are greedy for money, some think that eating or not eating something will make them healthy, all of which are worldly and carnal. In fact, the spirit of plague is very powerful, whoever the spirit of plague descends on will become ill.

Some time ago, I ministered to someone who never went out, how could they be infected with the virus? As a result, they got a disease with the same symptoms as Wuhan pneumonia. Because the spirit of plague descended on him, there was a lot of Old Ma's logic system on him. Some time ago, our young pastor said, I calculated that the people I have been in contact with recently have passed the 14-day quarantine period. But this is not God's Word, everyone thinks that quarantine works, but quarantine doesn't work very well. Someone came back from Wuhan, and the whole family got pneumonia, but he was fine.

The quarantine period is all a spiritual matter. If people fear God, the plague from God cannot harm you. People must learn to completely dismantle the worldly logic system, begin to open their spiritual eyes to know the end of things, to know the laws of the operation of evil spirits, to know that keeping and following God's Word is the key. Today we must know that God will repay people according to their deeds, whether they belong to God or not, they need to fear God, and the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. We must remember that God's Word cannot be violated, no matter who violates God's Word, they will be punished one day.

If there is Famine or Plague in the Land, Pray Towards this Temple

Do you know where the plague comes from? The plague comes from God. From the 《Book of Exodus》, the diseases that God put on people came from God, and the evil spirit that killed the firstborn of the Egyptians came from God. In 《Numbers》, the Israelites suffered a plague and died because they offended God, ten thousand or twenty thousand people died. This disaster came from God. We humans have a strong worldly logic system, seeing so many people die, we cry and make noise, and then have many funerals, will they hate God? Yes, but hate is useless, God has the final say. We must not think that God is Santa Claus. God opened up a way of salvation for the people of that era and asked Moses to make a bronze serpent. Whoever looked up to the bronze serpent was healed.

The experiences of the Israelites in the wilderness were very cruel. If there is famine, plague, blight, mildew, or other disasters and diseases in our country, people must know that the way to solve the problem is to believe in God. We begin to look up to God again, raise our hands to God's sanctuary, and God will hear from His sanctuary. Today, our brothers and sisters begin to turn back to God and completely dismantle the worldly logic system within us.

I know that many people believe in doctors. Doctors are actually also very helpless. Patients look at them with confidence, but the doctors are very helpless and desperate in their hearts. She went to minister to others, and after a while, her nose got better. You see, a person grows up to minister to others, and no longer prays for their own problems, the problems are all healed.
