Theme: The Enigma of Dreams - Sharing on 19 May 2019
Let us delve into the enigma of dreams. Dreams are indeed a fascinating subject, and their fascination lies in the fact that they are not merely a reflection of our waking thoughts. Often, we dream of things we have never even considered. Therefore, I categorize dreams into several types.
Firstly, there are revelatory dreams, which pertain to future revelations. Secondly, there are nightmares, characterized by terrifying and malevolent scenarios. Lastly, there are chaotic dreams, a jumble of unrelated and disjointed events.
First Type: Revelatory Dreams
Revelatory dreams are exemplified in the Bible. A classic example is Joseph's dream of the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing down to him; and his dream of the sheaves of wheat where his parents’ and brothers’ sheaves bowed down to him. The meaning of this dream is evident; Joseph would become the leader of his family.
Why did Joseph have this dream? Because of his yearning. As the youngest in his family, he pondered that his father was the second-born, with only his elder brother, Esau, ahead, who bartered away his birthright for a bowl of lentil soup. So, Joseph calculated. He had ten elder brothers, implying numerous bowls of lentil soup, one bowl every 70 years, he would have to wait 700 years! He dismissed the thought. Joseph was an interesting individual, eager to inherit God's blessings.
However, let me assure you, God has many solutions for the birthright. In Joseph's case, he became the greatest in his family. Even Judah, who inherited the birthright, had to bow before him. This implies that in a family, the one with greater faith holds a higher position.
Because of his longing, God granted him such a dream. To him, the dream was straightforward and easy to understand. Thus, we begin to recognize dreams that originate from God.
Dreams are Spiritual
Dreams are spiritual; some originate from God, while others come from demonic forces. It would be problematic if we mistook dreams from demonic forces for revelatory dreams. For instance, upon having a revelatory dream, we must recognise it as a revelation of God's plan for us in the future. It is regrettable that I am uncertain if I am qualified to share this topic with you.
Why? Because I have never had such a dream. It is troublesome to share if I have never had a revelatory dream. So, how do I have these revelatory dreams? I do so with my eyes open, after waking up! That is also acceptable, for the Bible teaches that all things are done through faith. Believe that you have received, and you shall receive. (Refer to Matthew 11:24)
Therefore, God's plan for us is sometimes revealed through dreams, and often through visions. Visions are plentiful. Hence, it is said: Your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. (Refer to Acts 2:17)
Thus, dreams and visions jointly reveal God's plan for our lives; this is crucial.
Second Type: Nightmares
What about nightmares? Most nightmares originate from evil spirits. The most common nightmare involves deceased relatives. Such dreams deeply affect us.
I have some understanding of this matter. In the past, my mother frequently dreamt of my deceased father. Even a nap on the sofa would lead to visions of my uncle and father visiting her. Later, my mother recognised this as an ominous sign. Why? Because it foreshadows severe illness, originating from the spirit of death, from Hell. Were those truly my father and uncle? No, they were the spirit of death in disguise.
Consider this carefully; if such events occur in your family, if the elderly dream of deceased relatives, I will teach you what to do. I led my mother in prayer: In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind the spirit of death from Hell! In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you not to impersonate our deceased relatives in my mother's dreams! My mother echoed my words. After the prayer, the dreams ceased.
Why? Because it was the spirit of death from Hell, a lie and deception that must be dispelled in Jesus' name. Why does this happen? Why do evil spirits impersonate family members? Because demons are deceptive. Some people dream of deceased relatives who claim to need money, and the family burns paper money for them—a foolish practice.
How can you be certain it is truly your relative? You cannot. Moreover, even if you burn a large pile of paper money, who knows if they receive it? Therefore, be cautious of dreaming of deceased relatives, because it is often the spirit of death from Hell.
The spirit of death from Hell profoundly affects our physical health. If you investigate, you will find that those who are critically ill often dream of deceased relatives, and if the illness lasts for about six months they are likely to pass away.
Therefore, beware of nightmares.
Evil Spirits Can Give Dreams and Miracles
Another type of dream involves being bitten or chased by dogs. These are often nightmares, foreshadowing illness or misfortune. What are they? Manifestations of evil spirits. Do not think that evil spirits cannot perform miracles. They can perform miracles, beyond dispute. This does not mean that our God cannot perform miracles. Do not believe that evil spirits cannot give dreams. Evil spirits can give dreams.
Evil spirits can give not only dreams but also visions. The fact that we see strange things does not mean that our God does not give dreams, does not perform miracles, or does not give visions. Then the question arises: How do we discern which dream comes from which source in the spiritual realm? The Bible does not teach us. What do we do? I am afraid I cannot teach this.
However, one thing is certain: if you sense it is a negative thing, you can reject it. In my early years of ministry, a young girl had a peculiar dream: a strong wind blew open her family's windows.
What happens after the window is blown open? Suddenly, two people are standing in her room, both resembling her father. However, she knows one is her father, and the other is not. Then, she wakes up from the dream with a start. What happens after waking up? She says, Wow, I know it was a dream. If she had received teaching like mine at that time, she would have known it was an evil spirit operating in her family.
What happened then? After this dream, she noticed a drastic change in her father's temperament. Sometimes, it was as if her father had multiple personalities, acting very strange and completely incomprehensible. Is this no longer her father? Let me tell you what happened. It was this evil spirit that pounced on her father. After pouncing on her father, her father was controlled by this evil spirit. Later, he had affairs outside, and the couple divorced, and she lived with her mother.
What should you do when you encounter this kind of dream? You need to know that it is an evil spirit. Just like when I mentioned my mother dreaming of deceased relatives, you need to rise up and engage in spiritual warfare, striking at the evil spirit behind it. If people don't understand spiritual warfare, don't understand that we can trample on the power of the underworld, I tell you, they will suffer great losses.
Actually, she doesn't need to discern good and evil. Why? Because it wasn't her father doing it; it was the evil spirit in her father that often said very vicious things. From then on, she began to notice that her father often said strange things that hurt them. Many years later, when she came to me and told me about it, I was able to explain the matter clearly to her.
But today, we still have various encounters in dreams. If it's one of the two types I mentioned, such as disguising as your deceased relatives and entering your dream, you can rebuke the spirit of death from the underworld and hell to leave. If it's something like two people looking exactly alike, whether they are together or not, you need to know that this evil spirit wants to do destructive work.
Why can't we discern good and evil? Because we need to know that many times, if we cannot separate the actions of the evil spirit from the person, we will be very hurt, and it will be very painful, isn't it? Because the evil spirit doesn't care about you! The evil spirit is not your father or your family member; it is just an evil spirit pouncing on your relatives, and then using your family's mouth to hurt everyone. This is not strange; this is the work of the evil spirit.
So I think, among us, we need to begin to understand how the spiritual realm operates. In fact, dreams are closely related to these things.
What else? A girl came to me and told me that she had believed in the Lord since she was very young. Then one time, she had a very evil dream, in which a very strange scene appeared. Then she went back to the church and told her pastor, saying, I had such and such a dream. Then her pastor said something: Oh dear! This is terrible! This is a prophetic dream!
In fact, this dream brought her into very deep fear. She lived in fear every day. So this pastor actually did a very destructive thing, making this child think that it was a prophetic dream. Actually, it wasn't; it was a nightmare.
What happened as a result? When this child was in her 20s, she came to the church to find me and shared this matter with me. She lived in great fear. For so many years, she had been living in fear, feeling lost and disoriented every day, which was very painful, very painful.
What was the result? I led her in prayer to reject this kind of dream. Everyone needs to know what kind of dreams need to be rejected. Of course, dreams that come from the devil need to be rejected! Dreams that come from the devil will not come to pass. If you believe they will, they will do destructive work on you.
If you reject them, in fact, they will not come to pass. You need to know that our God is in control of everything; the devil cannot control everything. As a result, I led her in prayer and released her from fear. From then on, at least she lived a little healthier than before. As for where this child went later, I don't know.
As for this dream, it is very spiritual; it either comes from the Spirit of God or from an evil spirit. For example, in the Book of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar had some dreams, and then he had his magicians interpret the dreams for him, but the way they interpreted the dreams was very strange.
What did he say? I forgot the dream. He wanted the dream interpreters to first tell him what the dream was, and then tell him how to interpret it. This was a bit difficult! But because this dream was to accomplish God's plan for people, Daniel interpreted it, and after interpreting it, it was incredible!
So I think we all need to have an understanding of this dream. There are two solutions. What are the two solutions? One is the solution for prophetic dreams, which is very simple: hold on to the vision. The other is from the devil, then reject it and don't care about it. We easily believe certain things and are easily disturbed by certain things. Why? Because we don't have faith in God.
We must know that our God is in control of everything, not the devil! Isn't it simple? Isn't it? We love God, and God knows those who love Him. Therefore, what God has prepared for those who love Him is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has conceived. This is a very basic principle for us.
Learning to love God is very important. If we don't know God or have God in the spiritual realm, wouldn't that be very sad? Because there are many things that we cannot solve, and we don't have the ability to handle them, but God has given us the ability to solve these things in the spiritual realm.
Whether it's a nightmare or a prophetic dream, we all know how to handle it. So my sharing on the myths of dreams ends here.
In the future, if you encounter someone who has had a nightmare, don't tell them, Oh, this is a prophetic dream. No, it is a dream that comes from the devil. Lead them in prayer to reject it and don't be afraid. For example, if you wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning and have a dream of being chased and bitten by a dog, and you are so scared that your heart hurts for 5 or 6 minutes, that is a nightmare, an attack from the devil.
But we should not believe in the devil's attacks. What is the devil's attack? The key is whether we have the ability! Isn't it? If we are capable Christians, are we afraid of the devil's attacks? Sometimes when the devil comes to attack me, I even say, Hey, I was looking for you! You delivered yourself to my door!
We are children of God! How can we be afraid of ghosts! Right? We’ll stop here.
May God bless everyone.
