Introduction
Good morning, let us turn to Malachi chapter 4. When I first believed in the Lord, besides the New Testament, Malachi was one of the first books I read. Not only is it concise, but more importantly, it speaks so well to our needs. Let us carefully read this passage:
"But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act," says the Lord Almighty. (Malachi 4:2-3)
After reading this, I felt it was exceptionally good. If believing in the Lord is not like this, can one truly believe correctly? Therefore, listen carefully to the Bible study on Malachi chapter 4. The theme of this chapter is "For those who revere God's name, the Savior will come."
For Those Who Revere God's Name, the Sun of Righteousness Will Rise
"For those who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise," meaning God will take charge for you, God will be in control, and restore justice for you. How well this is said! I read this passage repeatedly, loving it immensely. I thought to myself: God, I want to be one who reveres your name.
However, being someone who reveres God's name is not easy! Therefore, brothers and sisters, you must begin to understand that fearing God is a very important matter.
If you do not revere God, you will fall into arrogance and evil-doing. Actually, this has little to do with whether you believe in Jesus, but it has everything to do with whether you revere God. Yet, many believe in Jesus but do not revere God.
They say, "Jesus, come here. I prayed and was not answered. What were you doing?" They always have this attitude, treating Jesus like a servant, trying to trifle with God, playing petty tricks. Isn't that courting disaster?
"Surely the day is coming when it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire," says the Lord Almighty. "Not a root or branch will be left to them." (Malachi 4:1)
When I first believed in the Lord, I began to see how powerful God's actions are! If a person is not blessed, there must be a reason, such as complaining, saying blasphemous words, not knowing how to revere God, always saying, "God, why is this happening?" Everyone, please do not say that, do not ask God why! As if God has done something wrong.
I tell you, there are many people who like to ask God such questions. They always feel that God has made a mistake. I tell you, a person who believes in the Lord must start with revering God. Reverence for God is the most important thing. Do you have a heart that reveres God?
When I first believed in the Lord, I told myself to believe in the Lord well, but occasionally I would fall into irreverence. Actually, not revering God is thinking that God cannot be in control. But I tell you, not only will God not make mistakes, the demons will not make mistakes, only people make mistakes!
I previously contracted COVID-19 and felt like I was about to die, but I realized I had done many things wrong, and then I repented! Actually, it was meaningless for everyone to pray for me desperately at that time. It was of no use. The key is repentance! Don't think that I should thank you for praying for me desperately. There's no need! What is the reason? I will tell everyone.
If you have heard my sermons during that period, you will find that at that time, I really wanted to teach everyone how to manage finances well. At that time, I was a little confused, such as whether to rent out a vacant house? I was very conflicted, but that was a bit deadly! Also, for example, investment, I have always been uncertain about investment!
But when I was about to die from COVID, I was very certain. If you look carefully at the Bible, when does it encourage us to make money? At that time, I understood: all wealth is unrighteous wealth! That is to say, we unknowingly take money very seriously, such as renting out houses and investment and financial management.
After I repented, the result of the research was: the best investment is to invest in your own growth! In the matter of revering God, in learning the word of God, you must invest well, other things are useless, unrighteous money will disappear.
I tell you, if you get sick and go to the hospital, no matter how much money you have, you have to give it to them! Can you refuse to give it to them? So the hospital is the best place to fix people. Usually you feel that you have no time, but when you go to the hospital, you have time; you have no money, but when you go to the hospital, you have to raise the money! So the hospital is too powerful, it is more powerful than the army and prison, why? It's about life!
Therefore, revering God is a deep lesson, but you will fall into irreverence if you are not careful. Everyone, please don't say, "Oh, teacher, what is revering God? There is no such thing?"
We must tell ourselves to always put the Lord before us, He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. If we do not always put the Lord before us, then my sin is always before me! That's actually the case, you "slip" in if you are not careful.
I tell you, our Savior has come, He has solved several things, the first thing is to solve the problem of disease, "healing in its wings" is very good! In this life, don't have disease, don't be without God, you can have anything, but you can't have disease, having disease is so annoying!
So our Lord Jesus came and solved the problem of disease, then God will definitely solve the problem of disease for those who revere God. I tell you, if you have disaster or disease, it is because you do not have reverence for God in your bones, you don't even need to think about it, it must be the case! If you don't believe it, you can experiment.
Therefore, those who revere God are priceless treasures, God has solved their disease problems. If a person has no disease in his life, then what are you busy preparing for? Buying insurance can't protect you from suffering!
Some people buy pension insurance, but they get Alzheimer's disease when they get old, and they don't even know how to manage the insurance! Then I ask you, can insurance protect you from Alzheimer's disease? Can it protect you from paralysis? Can it protect you from suffering when you are old? Can it protect you from shitting in your pants?
Therefore, we must train ourselves to be people who revere God from an early age, God must be your healer, and if you are not paralyzed, then do you need someone to take care of you? You don't need a wheelchair, so it's good enough that you don't need to take care of others.
Then the second problem that Jesus solved is "you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall." That is, to solve the problem of poverty. Do you think that trusting in God and revering God, God will make you live a shriveled life? No! So the problem of disease and the problem of finances, these are the two fundamental problems solved by our Savior Jesus Christ.
If God can't solve the problem of disease and the problem of poverty, then what are you believing in the Lord for? Does everyone understand? Those who trust in God and revere God will lack nothing! If there is a lack, it is a lack of disease and poverty, all the bad things are lacking, we lack none of the good things!
Then everyone says that trusting in God and revering God is good, right? It's too good! In our life, disease and poverty will not come to us, God has solved the problems of disease and poverty!
If you don't believe in the Lord to this extent, but you love money all day long and get sick, then what are you after? You have the Savior Jesus Christ, but you don't revere Him well, you love money, cater to the flesh, and love the world all day long, what do you think you can love out of it? Besides loving out a body of disease, there is nothing else.
If your belief in the Lord has not solved the problems of disease and poverty, ask yourself, is there a heart that reveres God inside? If you are sick or poor, reflect on yourself, this is a good thing, reflection means it will really be solved.
The third problem that Jesus Christ solved is even more powerful! "Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act." Then what are you doing? What are you tearing with the wicked for? After tearing, you become the wicked, because you do not revere God.
Do you say that God can solve the problem of the wicked, solve the problem of injustice? If you want to solve the problem of injustice, the only key is whether you revere God.
I am particularly moved, everyone must not be arrogant and evil-doers, that is very corrupt! You are to trample all things under your feet, this is what the Lord Jesus said, and it is also what God has long promised us, to be above and not below, to be the head and not the tail.
So to say, believing in the Lord, Jesus solved the three key problems in life, if you don't believe in the Lord to this level, then you are mistreating yourself. If you don't have some wisdom, how can you revere God? Reverence for God lacks nothing, reverence for God is the beginning of wisdom, but it is useless to think that you revere God.
I tell you, if God becomes our core interest, many problems will be solved, but if you do not cherish the time, can you talk about revering God? Being idle and talking nonsense, being as lazy as a pig, is that called revering God?
Our brothers and sisters connect revering God with your core interests, is God solving your disease problem your core interest? Yes! Is solving your poverty problem your core interest? Yes! Trampling all things under your feet is called victory, is this your core interest? Yes! Then why don't you revere God?
The Arrogant and Every Evildoer Will Be Stubble
"Surely the day is coming when it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire," says the Lord Almighty. "Not a root or branch will be left to them." (Malachi 4:1)
I really thank God, you must not pretend to be humble and say, "Teacher, I am not you, I am nothing, I can't do it, I can't, I am not as smart as you, nor as wise as you." This is a problem in itself, it's a bit arrogant to speak! Because you think you can't do it, and you also think God can't do it, this is called arrogance.
When people become arrogant, they lack health and go to the hospital, but the hospital is opened by the Lao Ma family, how are you going to play? Then there is the problem of poverty, needing money, and people become loving money, isn't this entering a dead cycle? People start needing money, loving money, and then start doing evil. Think about it, are these evil-doers because they love money?
Some people have 100 million, but they still don't think it's enough, because if the liver is damaged, it will cost hundreds of thousands, and if you change blood or kidneys, it will cost a lot of money, but I think you should just change your brain and head! Some people have nothing to do, and when they see wrinkles on their skin, they get a facelift, it's all doing this.
Then you say, which of these problems doesn't need money? They all need it! Then can this person not love money? So he lives for money, and then he starts doing evil, so arrogance and evil-doing are the result of not revering God.
Our brothers and sisters must not think that I am a Christian, I guarantee that this is not the case! Many Christians are full of arrogance and evil, they go to the church to do business, isn't this scary? Doesn't the Bible say that the Lord Jesus went to the temple and drove out those who were doing business?
Many churches are full of doing business, either doing pyramid schemes to develop downlines, and then being cheated together, can you say that people are not sad? The arrogant and evil-doers will be burned up, if you want to be a person who will be burned up, then you do it. I don't need to give you ideas, you are definitely an expert yourself.
"The arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire," says the Lord Almighty. "Not a root or branch will be left to them." Oh, I often see this kind of thing in Christian groups! Once I had nothing to do, so I went to participate in a Christian fellowship, after the meeting everyone ate snacks and drank coffee together.
Then a Christian's face began to come out, he introduced himself to me, saying that he was doing investment and financial management, and wanted to introduce his investment to me, he said: "If you invest one million, I can give you three million by the end of the year." I thought: Oh, this guy is really amazing, Buffett is "not as good as you".
Once, I considered attending a luncheon with Warren Buffett, but upon hearing the ticket price was $200,000, I decided against it, thinking, "Let's not bother, and let's not spend that $200,000." Then, someone even "more impressive" than Buffett came along, claiming I could have breakfast with Buffett without spending a dime.
I thought, "Come on! If you were more impressive than Buffett, having breakfast with you would probably cost me $200,000 upfront, wouldn't it? He's a fraud. Isn't this a matter of life and death?"
Within the church, there are also many individuals peddling health products. Do they possess a fear of God? Some are involved in P2P schemes, selling health products, selling insurance, and developing downlines, engaging in various Ponzi schemes. I must inform everyone that if you engage in Ponzi schemes in our church, I will bid you "sayonara" the next day, goodbye!
Understand that the church is not a place for making money but a place where God's grace descends upon us. His light possesses healing power; He will make the poor among us rich, and He will place all things under our feet.
So, how can we fear God? I offer a few requirements. First: Don't do what you can't do. I never ask for favors in my life because I don't do what I can't do. I don't eat what I can't afford, I don't solve problems I can't solve, and I don't control what I can't control. How free am I?
I only solve one problem: fearing my God. Those who fear Him lack no good thing! If there is a lack, it's a lack of poverty and disease, which is fantastic! Therefore, the arrogant and wicked will be burned up, leaving neither root nor branch.
Let me talk about the matter of the dead. Around this time last year, a good friend of mine passed away. While he was alive, I wanted him to learn to fear God, but no matter what I did, I couldn't manage it because he liked to be a prophet and a watchman in the church. The English term is "watchman," and Watchman Nee also adopted "Watchman" as his English name.
I said, "Brother, stop doing this; it's too dangerous." He said, "No, I want to do it." So, what did he do? After the pastor finished preaching, he would approach the pastor and say, "This part and that part of your sermon do not align with the Bible because God sent me to the church as a watchman."
As a result, he developed cancer. Do you think the church needs you to watch over it? You'd better watch over yourself first. You only see the problems of others but don't consider whether you yourself fear God.
The year before last, another good friend died from a COVID-19 infection. By that time, the pandemic was almost over, and restrictions had been lifted, but he still contracted it. He was then intubated for four months and eventually died.
I didn't have the chance to see him while he was alive; he was confined to the intensive care unit. But even if I had seen him, it would have been in vain; he couldn't hear or understand anything. After he died, I visited with my colleagues. Alas, his skin was entirely the color of dark chocolate, supposedly from the medication. I lamented that these were all believers!
The year before last, another good friend of mine died from cancer. He didn't believe that curses could befall Christians; he thought Christians were insured. But there is no such insurance. The only insurance is the fear of God. I told him, "Cancer is a curse." He said, "You are cursed; causeless curses do not alight." But curses with cause certainly do alight!
I truly lament that they were all people I ministered to. I thought to myself that arrogance is not just about being arrogant all the time; it's about lacking a fear of God in one's heart. Some people contract COVID-19 and are nearly suffocated, yet they still think they are right, that they are a Job, a righteous person. Don't you think that's terribly wrong?
Remember this: God does not make mistakes, nor do demons make mistakes; it is only ourselves who make mistakes! It's because many things we think are right are actually wrong! The arrogant and wicked will be burned up. In the church, this statement has been fulfilled time and time again; it's incredibly accurate. Believing in the Lord is not something to be taken lightly!
Thank the Lord that God does not make mistakes, nor do demons make mistakes. God's promises and blessings will surely be fulfilled, and God's curses will also surely be fulfilled. There is absolutely no mistake about this.
## The Law of Moses Must Be Fulfilled
**"Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel." (Malachi 4:4)**
Brothers and sisters, remember that the gospel of Jesus Christ includes the law of Moses. The law of Moses not only prophesied the coming of Jesus Christ but also clearly stated the curses and blessings. Do not think that it is the Old Testament. Our Lord Jesus came not to abolish the law but to fulfill it.
How does Jesus fulfill the law? It is that we must transcend the law of Moses, but not by works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ, which fulfills the law. In the Old Testament, no one could fulfill the law, so the Israelites lived under a curse, living miserably.
Do not think that fulfilling the law requires works of the law; trust in Jesus Christ, for He is our Lord and Savior. Then, with a fear of God in your heart, you will know what the curses are. Do not step on them; once you do, you're hit! So, the curses written in the Old Testament will certainly hit Christians who step on them today.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, fear God. Do not think that the law has been abolished; Jesus did not teach that. Believing in the Lord is a precise project; it must be very rigorous. With fear and trembling, work out your salvation; this is called fearing God.
I tell you, God's promises are never abolished, but people lack a fear of God and ultimately abolish God's promises. So, the law of Moses prophesied the coming of Jesus Christ and also prophesied that some who trust in Jesus Christ can transcend the law. Some say, "Can people transcend the law?" Why not?
If you read the law carefully, you will find that there is not much that is complicated. Do not covet your neighbor's wife, do not covet your neighbor's house, do not covet your neighbor's field, do not covet worldly wealth, and honoring your parents is not a great demand. The law of Moses is called the baseline; trusting in Jesus Christ is called excellence. If you do not transcend the baseline, can it be called excellence?
So, stop mistreating yourselves. I hope that brothers and sisters can have a heart that loves to fear God. Do not be foolish anymore; foolish people will certainly suffer. Those who are sick and those who have disasters certainly lack a fear of God in their hearts. We must know that God is in control.
The law of Moses also speaks of many promises. Deuteronomy 28:1-14 speaks very well! "You will be the head, not the tail; you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. The Lord will bless everything you do." Your bank accounts, your barns, everything you do, the offspring of your livestock, your children, God will bless. But keeping and obeying depends on fearing God.
Brothers and sisters, we must live out the image of God. The law of Moses is at most a person, but we who trust in Jesus Christ can certainly live out the image of God. This is the salvation of our Jesus Christ, "The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings," this must be fulfilled in our brothers and sisters.
Let us now begin to learn to be people who fear God. What a wonderful thing this is. Never fail yourselves again, Amen! The promises of Deuteronomy 28:1-14 must be fulfilled in us because we want to learn to be people who fear God.
## Prophet Elijah Prepares the Way for the Lord
**"See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction." (Malachi 4:5-6)**
The Old Testament is a history of rampant curses. In the New Testament, God will solve the problem of curses all over the land. In fact, there are curses everywhere now, but God has left a good place, which is for those who fear God. Those who fear God begin with repentance.
The prophet Elijah is John the Baptist. John the Baptist preached the way of repentance. What is repentance? It is that I was wrong before. I used to be an arrogant, wicked, and money-loving person. Now I will no longer mistreat myself. I want to repent and turn back to God. This is called "the hearts of the children turning to the Father, and the Father's heart turning to us." Fearing God certainly begins with repentance.
If you think, "I have been saved by believing in the Lord, why do I need to fear God? Why is there so much to do?" That's bad. That's not called repentance; it's called self-righteousness. If a person takes his own way as the way, then slowly experience it! I think this curse is enough for you to drink. Arrogant and wicked people will certainly experience the wrath of God.
So, what will the prophet Elijah do when he comes? He will preach repentance! Therefore, believing in Jesus certainly begins with repentance. Such a good gospel solves the problems of disease and poverty, and places all things under our feet. We must begin with repentance.
We lacked a fear of God before, now let's have more fear of God. We were wrong before, and we made ourselves sick and tired. Now we must weep bitterly and come before God with a sorrowful and contrite heart. If you do this, you will benefit yourself. But this is not a great thing; it's just that we were wrong before, and now we want to correct it.
I often talk about one thing. I like to teach everyone practical things, correcting one thing at a time. Do not make a Northeast stew of carrots, dumplings, and eggplants in one pot, not knowing which is which.
For example, Singaporeans like to eat curry, putting a lot of meat in the curry soup to cook. It all tastes like curry, and it is not clear whether it is pork, beef, chicken, or duck. Anyway, it is all cooked in curry sauce. There are yellow curry, red curry, green curry, everything.
Brothers and sisters, we must repent and not be confused. If you are not clear about what is going on, then correct one thing at a time. If you want to be a rigorous person, then you must correct one thing at a time. If one thing has not been corrected, then let's correct that thing first. Do not make it seem like you know and do not know, and then like a pot of curry stew.
I lament that many people lack the heart to understand things clearly. The Bible should be examined book by book, explained chapter by chapter, and notes should be written in notebook after notebook. Isn't that good? This is called repentance.
It is useless to make a show of repentance. For example, if you do not sweep the floor clean, you still cannot sweep it clean after repentance. Have you repented? Also, if you have not done your job well, you still cannot do it well next time after repentance. Is this called repentance?
Brothers and sisters, let's have some real repentance, and not sing high-sounding praises. Saying in your mouth, "Oh, I want to love God more, I want to love God with all my heart and strength." You should first do the work you should do well. Do not be good at nothing but repentance, only repenting but not changing is useless.
For those who fear God's name, their Savior will come. Has the Savior come now? Yes! Our Lord Jesus Christ has solved our problems of disease, poverty, and victory. Those who trust in Him and fear His name lack no good thing! So, we can no longer mistreat ourselves, and come out of arrogance and wickedness, otherwise we will certainly experience discipline!
From now on, let all the good promises of God in the law of Moses be fulfilled in us. We must transcend the law, live out the glorious image of God, and then become children of God. How good is that! We must repent of one thing at a time, weep bitterly of one thing at a time, and be sorrowful and contrite of one thing at a time, Amen!
Our sharing ends here. May God bless everyone!
