Introduction

Today, we delve into a crucial topic, as the day of the Lord Jesus' return draws near. The Lord Jesus said:

Remember Lot’s wife. (Luke 17:32)

Let us first review last week's topic, The Holy Spirit Helps Our Weaknesses. What is the connection between this topic and last week's? There is indeed a connection. The Holy Spirit helps our weaknesses. What then, is weakness? Weakness is when we make a choice, yet we are unable to execute it. Lot's wife did not make a choice at all; she chose to love the world, ultimately becoming a pillar of salt.

Today, we must consider this topic: the Holy Spirit helps our weaknesses, for our spirit is willing, but our flesh is weak. During His time on earth, Jesus taught His disciples:

Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. (Mark 14:38)

For example, on the night Jesus Christ was arrested, Peter vowed to Jesus that he would follow Him even to death. When the soldiers came to arrest Jesus, Peter, thankfully, remained strong, staying in the courtyard of the high priest. At that time, Peter boldly declared to Jesus, I will follow you to my death; I will never fall away. But Jesus told Peter, Tonight, you will disown me three times. Peter never imagined he would disown the Lord three times, precisely because the spirit was willing, but the flesh was weak.

A servant girl in the high priest's house saw Peter and asked, Were you not with Jesus? In his heart, Peter answered, Yes, I was with Jesus. But the words from his mouth were, I don't know him. Peter denied Jesus three times. What was the result? Jesus turned and looked at Peter, comforting him with His gaze, I know your weakness.

Which of us, brothers and sisters, can rely on our flesh and not be weak? My flesh is truly weak. What exactly is this weakness? Weakness is not like Lot's wife loving the world and not believing in God's word. Weakness is that we believe in God's word, we believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior, we believe that Jesus Christ can save us, but when the moment of truth arrives, we cannot do what we want to do, and we do what we do not want to do, just like Peter denying the Lord three times.

Peter's three denials proved one thing: the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. The solution to this problem is the Holy Spirit helping us. We must understand that salvation is accomplished through the help of the Holy Spirit, who continually works and assists us. But there is something that God cannot help us with, and that is our choices.

If we choose not to acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord, then we do not acknowledge Him, and no help is needed. But Peter did not intend to deny Jesus Christ as Lord; yet, when the servant girl questioned him, he said he did not know Jesus.

We must understand that our heart's choice is crucial. What is it that we truly desire in our hearts? If what we desire is to love the world, indulge the flesh, and discern good and evil, then no one can help you, not even God. This is the freedom that God has given to man. God believes that freedom is best. We might ask God, Why did you give us freedom? If you had not given me freedom, then I would not have eaten the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil.

In reality, we are not entitled to ask such a question. We must know that the choices in our hearts determine where we are going. Today, you must understand that we choose to follow the Lord, but we lack the strength within us. The Holy Spirit can help us, but if we choose to be like Lot's wife, God cannot help you.

The Power of Choice and End-Times Warnings

The day of the Lord Jesus' return is very near. Therefore, I must tell you to reflect on Lot's wife. You can choose to believe or not; it is your choice. In fact, the reasons for believing and not believing are not entirely clear; it is simply a matter of inner choice. There is no why; simply choose to believe and do not choose to disbelieve. In the days of Noah and Lot, those who believed were saved, and those who did not believe were destroyed. This world is exceedingly cruel, so you must realize how important our choices are.

Lot's wife played a significant role in Lot's choices. She was a person who loved the world very much and was also skilled in financial management, but without God's blessing, she lost God's Mingding Destiny. Lot's wife had a habit of looking back, loved looking at the world, and lived simply for the sake of living, without Mingding Destiny. The Bible does not even bother to record her name. Her choices were fully revealed when facing the destruction of Sodom. She loved the world, loved money, loved cars, loved things... She did not believe that God would destroy this world. She ran forward but then looked back, immediately turning into a pillar of salt.

Brothers and sisters, this is worthy of our consideration: how do we choose in ordinary days? How will you choose when disaster strikes? You must be very clear about the choices you will make. If your choice is my house, my car, my property, my gold and silver treasures, then looking back will instantly turn you into a pillar of salt. Therefore, brothers and sisters, do not be like Lot's wife. She did not know what it meant to live, and she did not believe in God's word. Her logical system was that she lived to make money, so she ran to the economically developed Sodom.

Brothers and sisters, reflect on Lot's wife. The current situation we are in, according to the prophecies in the Bible, has already been fulfilled in large part. I think today, brothers and sisters, you should observe carefully. I tell you that the forces of this world, whether political, military, or economic, are all looking for a rebalancing. When the world is divided by major powers, if a rebalancing is formed again, each rebalancing will bring a war.

The First World War was like this, and so were the Second World War and the Third World War. Today, brothers and sisters, you must know that in the past few years, the American government has tried everything possible to contain China's development, but China has still developed. It cannot be contained. That is how the world is. When the power has developed to this extent, the whole world is spreading a theory of the China threat. As for whether China is a threat, I do not want to discuss it, but the whole world is worried about China's growing power.

What kind of result will this process bring? I tell you, the entire world situation will be turbulent. Brothers and sisters, I will tell you one thing: when the Third World War breaks out, you will know that the end of the world is near. After the Third World War, all Christians who love the Lord will be caught up into the air to meet the Lord.

When we Christians experience the Third World War, God will surely protect you, but you must be a faithful Christian. You cannot be like Lot, with one foot in the world and the other in the Kingdom of God. Therefore, today we read this passage in Luke chapter 17, verses 24-32. Please open your Bibles:

For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other. But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

Signs and Warnings of the Lord's Return

“It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building. But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed. On that day no one who is on the housetop, with possessions inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything. Remember Lot’s wife! (Luke 17:24-32)

Prayer

Lord Jesus, we come before you to seek wisdom from heaven. Lord, in this generation, as the prophecies in the Bible are being fulfilled one by one, Lord, may our hearts be awakened. May we know that this generation is passing away and that the day of your return is near. Lord, may we have the resolve to build your glorious church and pave the way for your return.

Lord, we also ask you to protect us, to protect the choices in our hearts, and to allow us to always reflect on Lot's wife. Lord, worldly possessions cannot help us enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Lord, we ask you to help us, to liberate us from all religious, economic, and political constraints, so that we can live out your freedom.

Lord Jesus, even today, you tell us about the choices within Lot's wife. Lord, may we reject all worldly value systems. Lord, may we live before you, so that when we leave this world, we can stand before you. Lord, when you return, may we also be caught up into the air to meet you. Lord, we thank you and praise you. Lord, the day of your return is near. Lord, prepare our hearts so that we may be saved and delivered from all the disasters that are about to come. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

Signs of the Lord Jesus' Return

This passage is very, very interesting. What is it talking about? It is talking about what the signs of the Lord Jesus' return will be. So, first is a review of last Sunday's message, second is the scripture, third is prayer, and now we come to the fourth point: the signs of the Lord Jesus' return.

At that time, people were buying and selling, eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, planting and building. I tell you that in those days, you should know that in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah and the days of Noah, commerce was very developed, and worldly entertainment and enjoyments were very developed. People were living small lives, and the customs of this world controlled them. Agriculture and the real estate industry were very developed at that time. However, there was nothing that built up people's lives or edified their spirits. No one worshiped God; everyone was living under the control of the world.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, you must know today that the days of Noah and the days of Lot were extremely permissive, indulging in the lusts of the flesh, with homosexuality being extremely prevalent and the economy being very developed. So today, brothers and sisters, you must know that economic development has nothing to do with God's blessing. There is simply no way to say that economic development is God's blessing.

I have heard some pastors praying for the economy, but there really is no such thing as praying for the economy in the Bible. There really isn't. If you can find biblical basis, I will pray with you. In fact, with economic development, have people really gained life? Brothers and sisters, I tell you, with God's blessing, a person will surely prosper in all things and be in good health.

So, the Lord Jesus' return is very similar to the days of Noah and Lot. What is similar about it? Its suddenness. So, brothers and sisters, you must know the suddenness of disasters. You must understand the suddenness of disasters. So, let me talk about the next point.

Awakening in Disaster and the Choice of Faith

A classmate of mine sent me something, a short video of a tsunami. I thought to myself that perhaps this classmate was deeply moved and had seen through many things. The scene of the tsunami was extremely terrifying. People were playing and having fun at the beach, very happy. The tsunami whoosh suddenly submerged all those people.

I remember 2011 very vividly. On March 11, 2011, I flew to Taiwan to study there. When I arrived at Taipei and got off at Taipei Airport, I saw the screens on the televisions in Taipei broadcasting an astonishing scene: the Japanese tsunami of 3/11.

When the tsunami came, cars and houses were like toys and matchboxes under the camera's lens, gone in an instant, becoming a pile of rubble, extremely terrifying. I will never forget it. On December 26, 2004, the Sumatran earthquake in Indonesia triggered the largest tsunami in the Indian Ocean and Southeast Asia. Thailand, Indonesia, and the coasts along the Indian Ocean were severely affected. These things felt extremely terrifying, but the world's affairs make people numb after a few years. Who cares when disaster strikes? In fact, no one cares, and no one cares about this matter.

So today, brothers and sisters, you must know definitively that people need to be vigilant, and the affairs of the world often make people very numb. You know, buying and selling, buying and selling, being busy every day, but are these things really necessary? In fact, people really need an awakened spirit.

In my past years of believing in the Lord, I have experienced many very shocking things. I once knew a pastor who loved cars very much. Later, he really bought a car. Not long after, bad news came. The car he was driving crashed into a street-watering truck from behind. The car was destroyed, and he died. I even attended his funeral. At that time, in the depths of my heart, I told myself, I will not love the world, I will never love the world, because this world is passing away. Even if this world does not pass away, we pass away just the same.

Brothers and sisters, you must know that whether this world passes away or we pass away, it is all passing away. At that time, standing next to his coffin, I clearly told myself, I will not love the world. Houses and cars are not what I love. I only love Jesus. To this day, I serve in this way because of this.

Not long after, two things happened one after another. Another friend who believed in the Lord with me, he was a brother, and his wife was a Singaporean singer. They also loved cars very much. One day, we attended a prayer meeting. This brother stood on the stage and told about how he bought a car. He thanked God. He loved cars very much and bought a Mercedes-Benz car. Then something shocking happened.

He drove to Malaysia and crashed into a large bus. The car was destroyed, and he and his entire family of three died. I also attended his funeral. Through the glass window on his coffin, I saw his face, which was simply a car accident scene, sewn up with needles and thread, extremely terrifying. At that time, I told myself again, I must reflect on Lot's wife. I cannot love the world, and I will not love the things of the world.

Today, brothers and sisters, listen to my advice. Do not love the world, and do not love the things of the world. When disaster strikes, nothing can stop it. But you must know that for those who love God, when disaster strikes, God can resist it for us. Though a thousand may fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand, we shall not be harmed, because God is with us. This is my belief. You ask me why I am like this. I just choose to believe. This is my belief.

People should always be vigilant and always pray. Jesus tells us to always be alert and always pray, so as to escape all that is about to happen. Today, brothers and sisters, whether I lead you in a long prayer or lead you to be a praying Christian, it is not for anything else, but to let you know what can stop disaster when it comes? Only God can stop it.

Last July, when I went home, they were all talking about one thing while I was eating: a family with many members, their old lady died, over 90 years old. They were going to make the first seven day offering and go to the grave. Four cars carrying people went, and one of the cars had to turn around on the way. As soon as it turned around, it crashed into an oncoming car. The car was completely wrecked, and all four people in the car died. No one ever dreamed of that. In fact, all those who encounter disaster never thought they would encounter disaster. The suddenness of disaster is shocking.

Why do you need to revere God? Why do I need to revere God? Because we know that God both blesses and brings disaster. In this world, do not think that disaster does not come from God. God also manages disaster. These are the words in the Bible, not what I said. God both blesses and brings disaster. You will know this if you read the Bible carefully.

Why do I encourage everyone to be a resounding Christian? Because what is written in the Bible about blessings and curses are all related to God's people. Therefore, if God blesses us, and we do not closely follow Him and trust Him well, after He blesses us, He will surely bring disaster. So, brothers and sisters, in any case, you must be a resounding Christian. The suddenness of disaster reminds us that we must learn to revere God.

The Day of the Lord Jesus' Return Is Sudden

The day of the Lord Jesus' return is sudden, like lightning flashing from the east to the west. The days of Sodom were also sudden, and the days of Noah were also sudden. Noah entered the ark, the door was closed, and the flood came, destroying those people. That was quite tragic! What can you keep in this world? Nothing can be kept.

Do not love the world, nor the things in the world, because nothing in this world and the things in this world can stop this sudden disaster. On the day of the Lord Jesus' return, this world will be destroyed. Today, brothers and sisters, you must know definitively that God is not going to repair this world; God is going to destroy this world and rebuild a new heaven and a new earth!

You ask me why I say this, I only know that the 《Bible》 says so, there is no why. Whether you want to transform this world, my point of view is: no. God never asked us to transform this world. God wants us to build a glorious church to be the light and salt of this world.

God wants everyone to enter the glorious church of God to be saved. Our mission is to build an ark, which is God's salvation, which is the church of God. Paving the way for the coming of the Lord Jesus, the church will be a very, very glorious church when the Lord Jesus comes again, a holy and flawless church. Although we also eat, drink, buy, and sell. But it doesn't matter, these things are not the most necessary in our lives.

The most necessary thing in our lives is our Mingding Destiny. Our Mingding Destiny is to build the glorious church of God. It is to constantly build that ark so that we can hide in it and be saved. A person who cultivates alone by himself is neither an ark nor a church. Building a church is our destiny. We must build the glorious church of God together in one heart and one mind.

Seeing Through the Essence of the World and Eternal Choices

This world and the things in this world will pass away. You can see such words if you consult the electronic version of the 《Bible》. If we know that this world and the things in this world will pass away, or we know that we ourselves will pass away, how easy and free we should live. We live as sojourners in this world, and one day we will leave here. We will not miss this world at all, this world will be destroyed.

Why do we miss it? If you miss this world, you will live under a lot of pressure; if you try to live desperately, I tell you, you will be under a lot of pressure. You don't care about death, what do you care about? Why do you feel so stressed when facing your boss? Because you care so much. You can not care, I tell you: God is in control, not your boss.

We must truly recognize the essence of things. We do not miss this world at all. This is the position and choice we must make. If you miss this world very much, there is no way, you will really love this world. If you love this world, you are Lot's wife, and you will not be saved. In fact, I tell everyone, when I preach and when I share at ordinary times, I feel very free. Why am I so free? Because I can't wait to leave this world, but God doesn't allow me to leave this world.

I really can't wait to leave this world! There is really nothing to miss in this world. I can't wait to leave this world and be with the Lord. So I don’t care about the days in this world, what time to sleep, what time to get up, sleep less, sleep more, I don’t care. Today, brothers and sisters, let us be strengthened again, recognize the essence of things, recognize the essence of living. Living is a very simple thing. Whether you have something or nothing, you can live, right? You live when you earn money from investment, and you live when you don’t earn money from investment. What does it matter? So 《1 Corinthians》 7:29-31 says:

Brothers, this is what I mean: The appointed time has grown short. From now on, let those who have wives live as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no goods, and those who use the world as though they were not using it. For this world in its present form is passing away. (《1 Corinthians》7:29-31)

Do you understand? Some people don’t agree, it doesn’t matter. They don’t agree because there is an inherent value system in them. But the value system in me is Paul's value system. If this world and the things in this world are going to pass away. Shouldn’t you really think about one thing, do you really value these things? We can educate our children, but children’s education cannot become our control or our bondage. Is it? We must know that Lot's wife was a tragedy. Let me talk about the next point.

Lot's Wife Did Not See Through the World

Lot's wife just didn't know that this world was going to pass away. When she looked back, she became a pillar of salt. Some people say: “Pastor, is she just curious when she looks back?” Is it really curiosity? No, it is all her choices in her heart at ordinary times. Those choices in her are clear evidence that she loves the world. She did not see the essence of human life. If people do not see the essence of human life, I tell you, it will be very miserable!

What to see? Look at her house. Do you know how much her house in Sodom was worth? It was the house she bought with the money she had worked so hard for all her life! Oh, my house! Oh, my money! Oh, my bankbook! Oh, what happened to me? What happened? Running forward desperately, not for her own life, but for the property in the world. What did she look back at? She looked back at the things she valued in her heart.

Focus on Following and Eternal Choices

What do you value? If you value your life, you will definitely seek God; if you value the kingdom of God, you will definitely seek God; if you see the essence of human life clearly, this world and the things in this world will pass away, and we will also pass away. Then we will seek what is eternal.

I tell you, looking back is a bad habit! Lot's wife is worth thinking about. When the Lord Jesus appears in the air like lightning, those on the roof should not come down, and those in the field should not go home to get things. Why? Where is your heart after all? The Lord Jesus clearly tells us:

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (《Matthew》 6:21)

What do you really value? Today I tell you, we will be happy and rejoice when the Lord Jesus comes again, because the day of our redemption has come. If you believe in the Lord, believe in Him well, go forward, and don't look back every step of the way. If a person walks forward and often looks back, he will hit a telephone pole; if a person rides a bicycle and looks back, he will fall into a pit; if a person drives a car and looks back, he is definitely looking for death. I tell you, the way of believing in the Lord by looking back is also the same. A person always looks back, what is he looking at? Looking back at the world!

Once a person leaves Egypt, he should not look back. Therefore, those who always want to return to Egypt will die in the wilderness and will never be able to receive God's promise. Looking back is a very bad habit that must be changed. Thinking about mathematics while looking at English is also a bad habit of looking back. Looking back is not being focused. A person who is not focused and inattentive cannot do anything. A person must be focused and attentive no matter what. Inattentiveness and unfaithfulness are both adultery. It is essential to focus on following the Lord.

You must focus on following the Lord, focus on coming out of Egypt, and focus on coming out of the world. Don't leave one leg in Egypt and one leg in the kingdom of God. There is no way. We must focus.

Some people say: Oh! Pastor, don’t let the brothers and sisters be blindly like this? How blind would that be! In fact, I tell you, a person who looks around and looks back is also blind. Today I ask you: Is Lot's wife more blind? Or is the person who focuses on following the Lord more blind? I tell you that Lot's wife is more blind. Because she cannot see the essence of things clearly, she turns into a pillar of salt as soon as she looks back.

Do you know the Dead Sea today? There are many pillars of salt on the beach. I must choose a definition. Our weaknesses are helped by the Holy Spirit, but our choices cannot help you. Choosing defines focusing on following the Lord. That is your choice, but when you fail to follow God, God's Spirit will help us. That is the work of the Holy Spirit.

But God cannot make this choice for us. What kind of person to be? It is your choice. We are sojourners. One day, we must leave this world. I really don’t care about this world. This world will pass away. Then we must live out God's Mingding Destiny in this world.

You know some people say: “Pastor, isn’t this too blind of you?” I tell you: “I am not blind at all.” Today, God is with us. It is our presence. God will testify for us. Do you know how many testimonies are shared among us? There are many every day, too many. We can clearly see that God is with us. We pray that mental illnesses are healed, and many people with back pain and leg pain are healed. Therefore, we see the effect of our focus. Our focus is not blind.

Focusing on Loving the Lord and the Refuge from Calamities

But looking back, what to look at is blind. Having eyes but not seeing human life in God; having eyes but not seeing that looking back will turn into a pillar of salt. Therefore, today, brothers and sisters, focusing on believing in the Lord is not blind. Don't be like Lot's wife. She was about to enter the plane door, about to gain life, but she looked back and the plane door closed.

Don't be like Lot's wife, who had already come out of that destruction. Sodom was about to be destroyed. For Abraham's sake, God brought Lot and his wife and his two children out. When they were brought out, they had already left the destruction, but they were destroyed again. This is Lot's wife. She escaped the disaster but died in the blindness of looking back!

Brothers and sisters, you really need to know that you must open your spiritual eyes. What is the difference between this and dying in a disaster? Looking back, although you have come out of the disaster, it is no different from being in the disaster.

Focusing on Loving the Lord Can Avoid Disasters

So! Brothers and sisters, you must start to think carefully about such things. Today I want to share with you the eighth point. We mentioned the last days. We thought that the disaster was shared by all of us in the world. In fact, it is not. The disaster is not prepared for us, but for them. What is the difference between us and them? We are people who focus on following the Lord. They may be destroyed if they do not follow the Lord, or they may be destroyed if they do not focus on following the Lord like Lot's wife.

So what is said clearly tells us that God does not want us to be punished, but to prepare us to be saved. We must learn to focus on following the Lord. I will read it to you. What is the difference between us and them?

Brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. (《1 Thessalonians》 5:1-9)

This salvation is not actually salvation to go to heaven after death, but to save us from destruction. When there is a disaster in this world, it is really good to have the Lord. In the past few days, I have not experienced any major disasters. We really cannot know, because people's paths are all walked step by step. I really cannot prove to you how many disasters I have avoided. But I tell you, without God, I believe I would have many, many disasters. But because I have God, God saves me from all disasters.

What is the problem today? What is the difference between us and them? The disaster is not prepared for us, but for them. Everyone must know that it is God who is punishing this world, and they include Lot's wife. Have you ever thought about such words? You really need to think about Lot's wife, who buys and sells, eats and drinks, marries and is given in marriage, and plows and builds in this world. Real estate and everything is very developed. The Call to Vigilant Prayer and Faithful Service

Let me tell you, spending money is far too easy these days, with Taobao and Alipay. Good heavens, it is all too easy to spend; a few taps on the phone, and the money is gone, almost without you even realising it. In a few days, a parcel arrives at the Hive Box locker, and, with a press of a button, you retrieve your purchase. Buying and selling simplified. But we must remain ever vigilant, praying always to escape the calamities that are to come.

Always Be Vigilant, Pray Often, to Escape This Coming Disaster

Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”(《Luke》 21:36)

Brothers and sisters, Luke 21:36 clearly tells us to always be vigilant and pray often so that we can escape the coming disaster. Vigilance and prayer are very important.

Brothers and sisters, if you are not vigilant, the disaster will come upon you whoosh. If that thing comes upon you, don't blame me. You know, when I read 《Revelation》 7:2-8, when the disaster came, God commanded that my servants should not be harmed, and then sent a mighty angel with a seal in his hand and sealed the foreheads of 144,000 people.

Do you know what 《Revelation》 Chapter 7 is about? 《Revelation》 Chapter 7 is about before the seven trumpets are blown, God uses His seal to seal His servants. Then, the seven trumpets are blown from the first trumpet, the second trumpet, the third trumpet, all the way to the sixth trumpet. The process of the sixth trumpet being blown is the Third World War.

If you read carefully, starting from Chapter 7 of Revelation, the first trumpet, the second trumpet, and the third trumpet are a very terrifying situation. But those who are sealed by God will not be harmed even though they have experienced the Third World War. Then, when the Third World War is over, there will be two preachers who will be killed.
