【Bible Study】Hebrews 10: Perseverance in faith till victory

Persist till victory

Let us look at Hebrews chapter 10. I do not want to hide from everyone that I did not understand this chapter until eight o’clock in the evening. Why do I understand now? I kept looking at it; it was like a jigsaw puzzle, and I could not put them together. From Sunday to now, I am not feeling at ease. Last week, I missed out due to catching the flight but this week, I am unable to escape. While talking about this incident, as a result, it fulfils this chapter Persist till victory. Therefore, I would like to set the main topic of today’s bible study as “Perseverance in faith till victory”.

The most important attribute of an entrepreneur is based on confidence. Without confidence, there is no way to persevere, you have confidence and persevere, but you do not know whether you will succeed in the future. I am telling you a piece of good news; The Lord Jesus has opened a new and living path for us and is a guaranteed victory. What could be better than this? The question is whether you can persevere until victory.

In the Old Testament, although people offered sacrifices, they were unable to enter completion and no matter what they had done, they could not be victorious. It was the conscience that was cleansed as in that generation, they only talked about sin. After Jesus Christ came, we are no longer talking about sin but about victory or defeat.

Often, I heard many Christians say, I am saved, and I am going to heaven. Why did I not see salvation in them? They thought they are saved when they died and off, they go to heaven. After I read the bible, I discovered that is not the truth. Today, our belief in The Lord is to overcome and have victory in this world. Why? All because Jesus had opened a true and living path for us, not gifts and sacrifices are not what he wants.

Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me; 6with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased.
Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll— have come to do your will, my God.’
Hebrews 10:5-7 NIV

Follow the example of the Lord Jesus and dedicate yourself completely

Jesus offered himself his body as a sacrifice and it turns out that this is the way of giving himself completely. By offering His body once and for all according to God’s will. Jesus had opened this path and **you took another path of keeping yourself for yourself which is impossible to be victorious.

We need to know, in the spiritual world, Jesus had overcome death, overcome the power of death on earth. This caused an important change in history. Lord Jesus Christ has opened the path for us to consecrate ourselves. Anyone who is willing to dedicate himself to God will win 100 per cent. Those who rely solely on Jesus Christ will no longer talk about sins or no sins.

Therefore, our sins are forgiven and there is not necessary to talk about offering sacrifices. Today, we are not talking about offering sins offerings or burnt offerings, we are talking about offering ourselves. What is the good news? The good news is about anyone who fully consecrates himself to Jesus Christ. In other words, giving himself to Jesus Christ and putting God as the most important thing in his life. If God has given us His promise of winning 100 per cent, there will not be an uncertainty of good moments or bad moments or sometimes winning or sometimes losing. We must be clear that this is the way to sanctification.

And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10: 10 NIV

Probably, you will be asking, why should I offer myself and dedicate myself to God? I am not a stupid person and how can I prove it? Let me tell you, I am a person with faith and without that faith, I am unable to walk this journey where I am today. Every Saturday and Sunday are excruciatingly painful for me, the pain is on par with delivering a child. Before the pain was over, Wednesday came again and it is time to look into Hebrews again. But I have found a secret which is to persist.

My head was buzzing at 5 or 6 o’clock in the morning, I still had no idea and was worried about how I was going to preach. I know if I persevere till the end and out of nowhere, the idea came into my head. It is such a good feeling. The best thing is to work with God. For example, we are digging a well and we must profusely dig the well till we found water before stopping. There are people who dig very deep, and they will leave when they see there is no water. Other people who came and saw the well was dug so deep, let dug a few more shovels and the water gushed out of the well. Don’t you think the people who were digging in front of them are working in vain?

Why was Isacc dug a well he was robbed, and when he dug again, the well was also robbed again? In fact, Canaanites also dug wells everywhere and when Isaac saw the well had been dug so deep, he dug it again and as a result, there was water. It was not what the bible said. I am using this as an example. The purpose of making up this story is to tell you that you must persevere until the water comes out.

If you drill for oil, you must persist until oil is produced. If you go to university, you must persist until you achieve your degree. No matter what you are doing you need to have the spirit of persistence and not giving up.

I am someone who will not give up easily or compromise when I encounter problems. Very often, I cheer up myself and do not believe I cannot overcome. Every time, when I struggled, I said to myself “ God you are so humorous, if you let me come across this problem earlier, I will not be so painful and tossing.” This struggle is so precious after you experience it.

In the bible, my favourite person is Jesus Christ, and he is my idol. My desire is to look like Jesus Christ, but I did not perm my hair like Jesus. I do not want to imitate Jesus’s appearance, and this is not important. Deep in my heart, I have a strong desire, whatever Jesus is doing, I am following suit. I must be like Jesus; I will do what He did. When Jesus touched the sick, and they were healed as for me if I touched the sick once is not effective, I will touch hundred times, if hundred times not working, I will touch thousand times. I will persist till I touch the sick once and healed like Jesus Christ.

Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane; he was in despair that he sweat drops of blood. Why is Jesus so sad? Because he was about to go to the cross.

Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Matthew 26:39 NIV

Can you imagine if Jesus was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane and thought, “What am I doing? Why should I suffer?” If Jesus just left and there will be no redemption from the cross and we would be in vain. When Jesus told his disciples that he was going to die, he highlighted to them that he rose from the dead on the third day. Our Lord Jesus had conquered death.

Why did Jesus persevere? Jesus had a very clear goal, and he understood the ultimate reason he came to this world to fulfil God’s will. God’s will be for us to declare victory. If this is happening to us today, what are our choices? Please do not be a floater, have no direction where we are going today, where we came from and where is our destination.

My thoughts are we live and we die, what is the meaning of our life? Although I know, life and death are the law of nature, there is an eternal hope within me. The spiritual world is real, and I had written 2 modules for the coursework. One module is Course 101, and the other module is Course 201. Course 101 is about the truth of the spiritual world. When you have reached the time to be a disciple, Course 102 is fully dedicated yourself completely and coming out of the empty life.

The Jesus we believe in today has His words engraved in our hearts and not on stones. We act according to God’s words and fulfil God’s law. God will no longer mention sins and repent, but we are able to overcome them. God wants us to be victorious.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess

Remember those earlier days after you had received the light, when you endured in a great conflict full of suffering. Sometimes you were publicly exposed to insult and persecution; at other times you stood side by side with those who were so treated. You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. Hebrews 10: 32-34 NIV

In the book of Hebrews, those Christians should be commended for their endurance. They endured all the afflictions of the battle and while they were in adversity, they accompanied those in affliction. Can you understand if today your family business is taken away, are you able to bear with it willingly? Living is a simple thing, if you have God, even though everything has been robbed away from you, it is not a problem at all. Just like Jesus, he had seen through life and death and clearly understood that life is related to spiritual matter. Jesus understood clearly that our entire life requires us to overcome and to be victorious. You will not lose on receiving the everlasting inheritance.

Life is so meaningless and if you cannot understand all the sufferings as you have not seen it through, you will be living a miserable life. Every time, I prayed for a sister, and she was always saying she has pain here and there. Why could she not understand that our life is not dependent on the flesh? She is full of nonsense believing in consuming plenty of health supplements and detoxification products.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23 NIV

How wonderful verse is this? Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess. In other words, cling to the hope we profess and not waver. Whether you are a new believer or a believer in The Lord for many years, you must walk out of this empty life. If you cannot see this clearly, you will be unable to walk out of it, wavering from left to right which leads to hopelessness. The path of Christians is full of wonderful stories and all stories are all about victory.

Trust in the way of The Lord and never retreat

I have a suggestion for you, no matter what you are doing, you do it with perseverance with faith till victory. Even if you believe in The Lord, you must persevere with faith until victory. It does not matter even though persecution happens or whatever comes your way, you just must persevere until victory. You must be patient in the process after you have done God’s will and you will receive God’s promises. This is a 100 per cent guarantee.

Do not discard that courageous heart and those who have that courage will be rewarded handsomely. In terms of blessings, God will bless you greatly. In terms of descendants, your descendants will be multiplied. These promises are for those who run forward with faith. In the eyes of God, they are righteousness, and it is unnecessary if they should repent or not repent. They should not bother about this or that sins, start turning their eyes to God and running towards the goal.

I hope everyone is like me, telling God I have fought a good fight, and have kept God’s words. I have finished the race and I want to receive the reward that God has prepared for me in eternity. The temporary sufferings in this world will pass away and gain God’s eternal glory.

This is what God has prepared for me in eternity and I must receive it. Without the eternity, what is the point of my life? Even though I can do everything in this world, preserving my family business, and having money, food, and drink, they are empty and meaningless for me to keep on living.

Brothers and sisters when you begin the journey to know God and have gained Ming ding and in English it is called destiny. You will discover that you will lose interest in eating and drinking. Though we eat and drink, they could let us experience that sense of enjoyment. The only enjoyment we have is to rely on the promise of Jesus Christ and we can live victoriously in this world. We do not care about death anymore as we see through life and death. There is nothing that can separate us from God’s love and there is nothing that can stand before us.

We must be someone that is unworthy in this world. In business, if we have the will, we will be victorious. If we have that will, our faith in The Lord will be victorious. No matter what you are doing, you need to have this determination, to declare victory and never give up. If you retreat, you will not win God’s favour. If you backslide, you are not a person of faith and the bible said “You will enter perdition.”

Today, we have embarked on a path of no return and that path is to have faith so we can be totally victorious. It is because we hold to our faith with hope and run towards it. In the life we have in this world, we can accomplish and fulfil God’s will and the purpose is to completely give ourselves to God. Let us be a blessing to this generation. This generation will be blessed by us and the generations to come will also be blessed by us. To live is to live out the way God created us, live out Ming ding (destiny) God gave us. If we live in this way, our life will be meaningful.

We are no longer living like animals such as cows, horses or pigs. We are also not the monkeys playing in the circus, but we are the image of God. We are honorable and glorious children of God. We can overcome, rely on Jesus Christ and declare our victory through Jesus Christ. May God bless you all.
