Introduction
Good morning, everyone. Let us delve into a topic that brings immense comfort – "As many as were appointed to eternal life believed," the sixth lecture in our "Way to Eternal Life" series. Believing in Jesus is, in fact, a miraculous thing. From my observation, many people begin their faith journey in a somewhat hazy state. Reflecting on my initial experience walking into an English church, I had not even read the Bible, and my English comprehension was limited, perhaps only 5% to 10%. Choosing to believe in the Lord in such a state of bewilderment was indeed incredible. Most of us begin our faith journey in a state of "knowing without fully understanding." Few people begin to believe only after thoroughly studying and comprehending everything.
The core message of this sermon is: As many as were appointed to eternal life believed. This passage is intended to offer comfort to brothers and sisters like Peter, who may not be highly literate, unable to take notes, or even use a computer. Although you may feel your comprehension is average, as long as you firmly believe in your heart, that is what matters most.
God is not overly concerned with what Peter specifically did. As long as someone is appointed by God to eternal life, not one will be lost. Many brothers and sisters simply listened to others talk about Jesus and, in a daze, believed. For such brothers and sisters, that is actually quite good! Perhaps living like Peter is also fine. In the past, I often emphasized comprehension, which may have created considerable pressure for them, possibly causing them inner turmoil. I must also repent, as believing is a simple matter. Some may worry that if it is made so simple, people will become lax. It does not matter; God will guide them personally.
As a pastor, when facing someone who is about to die, in that final stage of life, I usually no longer emphasize how to pursue "victory," because overemphasizing this can make the patient feel even more confused and anxious. At this time, I prefer to share God's grace and mercy. We must together look to God's abundant love, because believing in the Lord means believing in God's grace and mercy.
Some time ago, a sister with terminal cancer passed away. In her final days, I tried my best to give her as much comfort as possible. Although her illness was not healed, she had experienced times of healing, but unfortunately, she often made wrong choices. However, in the final moments of her life, she truly believed. That sister said, "Teacher, I want to give an offering." At that moment, tears almost welled up in my eyes. I said to her, "Sister, I have received your offering." Although I did not take her money, I believe her faith was accepted by God. We must look to God's grace and mercy. Although she ultimately did not receive physical healing, I firmly believe that as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. This is not only a comfort to the deceased but also gives strength to the living.
Many years ago, when I first believed in the Lord, I shared the gospel with my parents. We had a particularly good relationship. Back then, transportation was very inconvenient, and train platforms were always filled with tears of farewell, because no one knew when the next meeting would be. When I urged my parents to believe in the Lord, my father's words comforted me greatly. He said, "Son, you are our flesh and blood. How can we not believe your words? It's just that we are old and really don't know how to believe."
A few years later, after experiencing some miracles, my parents finally believed in the Lord. Although their faith was not particularly strong, and they certainly were not very "victorious," one thing made me feel incredibly gratified. That year, my father was hospitalized with a cold and cough. His condition was unstable, and he insisted on going home. Two months after returning home, the old man peacefully stopped breathing. Just as the family was preparing for the funeral arrangements, my father miraculously woke up. My relatives jokingly asked him, "Did the King of Hell let you come back to live a few more years?" My father glared at him sternly and said, "Don't talk nonsense." Later, my sister softly asked, "Dad, did you see angels?" My father solemnly nodded to her. A few hours later, my father passed away peacefully.
This event gave great comfort to those of us who believe. People often ask me, "Teacher, where are my relatives after they die, in heaven or in hell?" I believe they are all in the heavenly home. Although we cannot know all of God's plans, we are certain that God has abundant grace and mercy. Therefore, please do not worry about this, and have faith in the Lord. Some people are very tender-hearted. They do not argue with me, saying, "Ah, great, believing in the Lord means going to heaven."
Do you know why I say this? I have a theoretical basis. You know about the thief who spent his life doing evil. I guess he had stabbed people to death. A thief, after all, could accidentally kill someone. Later, he was crucified with Jesus and sentenced to death. After being sentenced to death, Jesus was in the middle, and he was on the side. He said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom." I tell you, such a bad person, utterly wicked, at that moment, he believed for just a little while. Jesus said, "Today you will be with me in paradise."
Although we do not understand what that paradise is, what does it matter? It is better than hell anyway. It sounds good, being with Jesus in paradise. Does that sound reasonable to you? Some people do good deeds their whole lives, but they do not believe in Jesus. That is not as good as this thief, is it? But this thief is with Jesus in paradise. I tell you, as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. This "believe" is so important. How do we know if they believed five minutes before their last breath, or one day before, or one month before? Our Lord is so good, so full of grace.
You know, this matter gives us great encouragement. Our God gives grace according to people's faith. Faith is really important. What people pursue, what people hope for, what people long to obtain, they may understand vaguely. Eternal life, I want to obtain eternal life. Can you explain eternal life clearly? Anyway, I cannot explain that thing. If we cannot even believe what Jesus says about earthly things, how can we believe what He says about heavenly things? So Jesus is too lazy to talk to us about heavenly things. I have many more examples to give. Our colleagues here, when they believed in Jesus, they were all in a daze.
A sister came to Singapore and was taken to a church. Most churches in Singapore preach in English, and her English was not good. She could not understand. Someone said, "Those who want to believe in Jesus, please raise your hands," and she raised her hand. Someone next to her had to translate for her, and then she believed. She has continued until now, and isn't that faith that has sustained her? I have found that many, including the brothers and sisters sitting here, believed when they were in a daze listening to me. If you understood everything clearly, you would not need to listen to my Bible study anymore. So, I tell you, this is a miraculous thing. It is not that you believe because you understand, but that you understand because you believe.
But some people just do not believe, no matter what. Even if you put a knife to their throat, they will not believe. What can you do? So, brothers and sisters, let us learn slowly. You can learn a lesson from the scripture I quoted. I have these bases. You know, I must praise Peter. People think I look down on Peter, but I do not. Peter has a huge advantage. When we meet him in heaven in the future, he will say, "Hey! You finally praised me!" Yes, as Peter said, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." This is what I often praise Peter for.
Speaking of Peter, I must ask what he did in his life. He built a church, but he built it into a "large cafeteria." It does not feel very good. The work he did, to be honest, was a bit unsatisfactory. Later, the situation in the church in Jerusalem was not optimistic either. It was dirt poor. So he went to the churches established by Paul to hustle for the love offerings of some believers. Before his martyrdom, he also wrote 1 Peter and 2 Peter, which were also written in a daze. They were really not very good, but his belief in the Lord was truly sincere.
Jesus' favorite disciples were three: Peter, John, and James. Jesus took these three up to the mountaintop and allowed them to witness a sacred vision—Moses, Elijah, and Jesus together, discussing Jesus' suffering. Why did Jesus favor Peter? Although Peter's faith was not supported by comprehension, his sincerity was unquestionable. The James here is not Jesus' brother, but another disciple with the same name. There are too many Israelites named James. Jesus particularly appreciated Peter's straightforward faith. Although Peter had experienced the embarrassment of "denying the Lord three times," his life was actually full of fun. Peter was a very interesting person.
Perhaps when God created Peter, He gave Peter this humorous characteristic. When he said, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life," Jesus was very pleased. But in the blink of an eye, he would say something inconsiderate, such as dissuading Jesus from going to suffer. As a result, Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Get behind me, Satan!" Peter is such a real, even somewhat comedic person. If you have one or two people like Peter around you, life will be much more fun. Peter is harmless and full of humor, and Jesus loved him very much. The Lord Jesus taught to leave everything and follow Him. Peter immediately responded, "Lord, look at me, I have left everything and followed you!" He is such a humorous and sincere person.
Although Peter messed up building the church, and later ran to the churches built by Paul to talk nonsense, and also left 1 Peter and 2 Peter, in the thirty years after Jesus was crucified, resurrected, and ascended to heaven, he did not seem to love studying. But he had an incredibly firm faith. Those of you who are very much like Peter, do not be so twisted. Although I usually emphasize "comprehension," if you cannot emulate the Apostle Paul, emulating Peter is also fine. Peter, from beginning to end, had the concept of eternal life. He believed in Jesus from the bottom of his heart.
As Paul later wrote: If what you have built is not with gold, silver, or precious stones, but with wood, hay, or straw, and it is burned up in a fire, although your work will be destroyed, you will ultimately be saved. Peter initially did not know how to build a church. He lacked comprehension in this area. However, his love and faith for the Lord were extremely sincere, and we must give him fair credit for this. Later, the Lord Jesus gave him the opportunity to be martyred. He was like a piece of firewood pulled from the fire. Although the project was destroyed and he suffered losses, he himself would be saved, as if refined by fire.
Our God is full of love. If you can emulate Peter's pure faith, that is also very good. Jesus said, "Come, follow me," and he followed resolutely. This in itself is a miracle. Trusting in Jesus is a wonderful thing. Peter's faith is real, just like the faith of many of our illiterate brothers and sisters, which is equally pure.
So the question arises, if salvation is ultimately assured, why do we still need to pursue "victory"? Let me explain the rationale behind this. Let us revisit the thief on the cross, who lived a life of wickedness, only to repent and receive eternal life on the cross at the end of his life. Do you think his life was filled with grace? In fact, he lived a hard and difficult life. If he had trusted in the Lord and pursued victory in his youth, he would not have had to walk the path of a robber. It is not easy to be involved in the underworld; it is a very arduous and dangerous life. Imagine how wonderful it would have been if he had been immersed in God's grace from his youth, with God's guidance throughout his life.
Some people are rather foolish, always thinking of living in sin first, and then repenting like the thief at the end of their lives. What kind of logic is this? Is it necessary to suffer a lifetime of hardship before seeking redemption just before breathing one's last? Pursuing victory while we are alive is in itself a great grace. Every victory allows us to live out God's glory and image, which is such a wonderful thing. So we must be clear about this calculation, and not always think about waiting until the last moment. While we are still healthy and have the opportunity, we should pursue victory.
Imagine if Peter had taken the time to brush up on his knowledge earlier, and built the church as well as Paul did, how glorious his life would have been. He would not have had to be like that piece of firewood plucked from the fire, burnt black and still smoking when taken out. Why did it have to be that way? We still need to be victorious, and victory is a matter for when we are alive. Even if we do not achieve victory, God can still give you eternal life. Did Peter achieve victory while he was alive? No, he did not. Did the thief achieve victory while he was alive? No, he did not. Was it hard? Yes, it was hard. So victory is for us to live out God's image while we are alive. In fact, this is the key, and that is what Paul was talking about.
So the gospel we believe in begins with faith and leads to faith. God created Paul and also created Peter, giving us many things to emulate. It is God who is directing, God who began directing our present lives before the creation of the world, which is very interesting. God created Peter, which is great, quite humorous. When we study the Bible, we are filled with interest when we talk about the things Peter did and the things Paul taught. Without Peter, our life of faith would be much less enjoyable. So many people are like Peter, believing in a daze, thinking it is okay to suffer a little while alive. Now everyone hears about Peter's story, that Peter received eternal life, which is a comfort. So you are also like Peter, which is fine, may God's grace and mercy be with you.
Then many people just do not believe, we begin with faith and lead to faith. Originally, God's gospel and God's righteousness are revealed in such things. But many people just do not believe, and it is difficult to believe. It is not that they have not experienced God, but they do not believe after experiencing Him. Listen to that conversation, it is very strange. One of our sisters shared her testimony with someone, she said: "I had depression at that time, and then I couldn't sleep." The person analyzed it, this is not a ghost, in fact, I know the problem of not being able to sleep. The person replied: "It is just that people are anxious in their hearts, if you are not anxious, you will sleep, right? Look at me, I don't get insomnia if I'm not anxious." It has nothing to do with ghosts, and nothing to do with eternal life, just explaining insomnia over and over again. So I think this thing is very magical, some people believe it all at once, and some people just don't believe it no matter what. Originally, those who are predestined to eternal life all believe, predestined to eternal life.
We really have no way to change God's predestination, we are not God, but we can explain the phenomenon we are facing. One of our sisters, her grandparents, did they receive grace because of her belief in the Lord? They did, and so did her aunt. But they received grace and experienced God, but they just do not believe. Her grandfather began to see the fire of hell and see things in the spiritual realm when he was in his eighties, and everyone thought he was finished. It was this sister who led him to pray for two days, and he could not see it from then on, and then he did not believe. Her grandmother also suffered from lumbar disc herniation, and experienced healing because of the service of our sister, but she just did not believe. When you talk about it, she just says: "Oh, I have to live well." Can she live well? No, she cannot.
If you encounter such family members, I can only give you some comfort, may they believe one day. Predestination is predestination, it all depends on God, just believe it. If God has predestined everything, then what else do we need to argue about? We cannot change the established facts. I always feel that some things are not as they are said in traditional churches. Everyone is used to praying desperately for their families, hoping that the other party will believe in the Lord. But in some cases, no matter how much experience and effort, people just do not believe, and it still cannot be changed, which may be the so-called predestination. But I plan to talk more about faith and less about predestination. In fact, when a person hears and believes, that is predestination. Many of our brothers and sisters have had such experiences of believing in the Lord.
Scripture
As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath. When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God. On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and talked abusively against what Paul was saying, contradicting him. Then Paul and Barnabas answered them boldly: “We had to speak the word of God to you first. Since you reject it and do not consider yourselves worthy of eternal life, we now turn to the Gentiles. For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “ ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ” When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and honored the word of the Lord; and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. So Paul and Barnabas shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium. (Acts 13:42-51)
Scripture Background
The scripture mentions that Paul and Barnabas preached the word of God, and the Gentiles rejoiced and trusted in God after hearing it, and all who were appointed for eternal life believed. Paul's experience in Antioch was very meaningful, and it was Barnabas who brought him there. Paul's experience after believing in the Lord was very special. Although the scriptures do not record the details of his early years in detail, he became famous because of his profound knowledge of the Bible. Later, Luke met Paul in Antioch and recorded this history in the Book of Acts.
Antioch became a very influential holy place because of the gathering, prayer, and sharing of this small group of people. The Spirit of God commanded the disciples to send Barnabas and Paul to do the work I have appointed them to do. After that, Barnabas and Paul began their missionary journey, and Paul was still called Saul at that time. This was Paul's first missionary journey to establish a church. His thinking was very clear, and he knew how to establish a church and the specific steps to build a church. Paul came to a place and met a man named Bar-Jesus. The local official, that is, the proconsul, was named Sergius Paulus, and he was very interested in spiritual things.
However, there was a sorcerer named Elymas who was constantly hindering Paul. Paul thought, I am preaching the gospel to the local governor, why are you here to make trouble and resist the spread of the gospel? So Paul stared at him and sternly rebuked him: "You are full of deceit and wickedness, you son of the devil, you enemy of all that is good, will you not stop confusing the right ways of the Lord? Now the hand of the Lord is upon you, you will be blind and temporarily unable to see the sunlight." Immediately, Elymas' eyes were blinded. Sergius Paulus witnessed the power of Paul's words and immediately believed in the Lord's way.
The reason why Paul was able to perform miracles was due to his firm faith in God. The miracles Paul performed were even more than Peter's. Paul's faith began to be established from the first day he believed in the Lord. During the fourteen years, he devoted himself to studying the Old Testament. He read that he was to be a light to the Gentiles and bring salvation to the ends of the earth. He was very familiar with these contents. I believe Paul's understanding of Genesis was far better than ours. In Paul's view, the core of the Old Testament pointed to Jesus Christ, and the body of Jesus Christ was the church. His theological system was entirely based on faith, so his later epistles and church establishment were also based on this.
All who were appointed for eternal life believed, this is the logic of faith. Faith can bring miracles, just like a child, although he is young and may not understand many principles, but as long as he has pure faith in his heart, miracles will happen. One of our sisters was sick, and her four-year-old child prayed for her. The child imitated my prayer vividly. He declared healing in the name of Jesus, and as a result, his mother's illness was really healed. Although the child did not fully understand the deep meaning, he had simple faith.
Paul's belief in the Lord also started from faith, and gradually deepened his understanding of the Lord's way. First there is faith, and then there is everything else, "beginning with faith and ending with faith," this is Paul's journey of believing in the Lord. Paul went forward by faith and then came to Pisidian Antioch. This is another city also called Antioch, but located in a different place. He gave a sermon there, which is recorded in Acts chapter 13, verses 16 to 41. He told the story of how the Israelites left Egypt, spent forty years in the wilderness, and later the stories of David and Saul, and then extended to Jesus Christ, combing through the context of the Old Testament. Jesus Christ is the Lord who will not see decay and has risen from the dead. All who trust in Him can be justified through Jesus Christ.
Be careful, lest the words spoken in the Book of the Prophets come upon you. If people do not walk the path of faith, then the curses in the Book of the Prophets will come upon them. If it is based on works, it will not work. Like the Apostle Peter, the thief on the cross, and even us, we cannot get through by relying on works alone. So, how can we obtain eternal life? Because of faith, "all who were appointed for eternal life believed," it is that simple. So do not leave the way of faith, because we are "beginning with faith and leading to faith." Whenever you do not believe, the situation will become bad; whenever you believe, there will be joy in your heart.
After Paul's sermon in the synagogue, on the second Sabbath, everyone came. They felt that his preaching was excellent, unlike anything they had heard before. What they had heard in the past was often dry, abstract principles, lacking in miracles and wonders, making it difficult to understand. But when Paul spoke, everyone suddenly understood. By the second week, even more people came because Paul preached well and was accompanied by miracles. As a result, the Jews were filled with jealousy. They saw that Paul's preaching attracted so many people and felt that they were being overshadowed. In fact, Paul did not come to compete, but the Jews did not believe even when they saw the miracles.
Believing or not believing is actually a very simple choice. Then, they began to slander Paul and incite the prominent women and influential men in the city to persecute Paul and Barnabas. Before leaving, Paul said a very important thing: "We will turn to the Gentiles, for so the Lord has commanded us, saying, 'I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.'" When the Gentiles heard this, they were glad. Then Luke recorded, "And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed." Although some may have only understood vaguely, as long as they believed, salvation came. The background of this verse gives us a significant revelation. Although we all promote understanding, and should be full of confidence in our understanding, before being full of confidence in understanding, we must first have that "not-so-understanding" faith.
What Paul Preached Was the Way of Faith
If you read Paul's epistles, especially Galatians, you will find that James said, "Not only must you have faith, but also works," while Paul said, "No, by faith alone." In fact, Paul's "by faith alone" is consistent with what Jesus Christ taught. The Book of James mentions that "faith without works is dead," but this is actually difficult to implement in reality. What people say they "believe" and what they truly believe in their hearts are two different things. If a person really believes that something can make money, he will definitely do it; if he is not sure that it can make money, he may not do it. Why are people deceived? Because they believe the liars, even borrowing money to invest, and end up being deceived and in debt. If you say you "believe" but do not take action, that is called unbelief.
The statement "faith without works is dead" is actually debatable. For example, when a cancer patient is healed, what does he do? He simply believes. When Jesus saw the woman with the issue of blood healed, He said, "Your faith has made you well"; when the blind saw and the lame walked, Jesus said, "Your faith has made you well." These people did not have any special actions at the time, and may have been thinking about other things. Jesus never said "faith without works is dead," but said that your faith has saved you.
Therefore, Paul elaborates in detail in Galatians that faith is the foundation, and works are not the core. Where is the confusion for many people? Many people say they believe in the Lord but do bad things, which is not true faith. Those who believe will have signs and wonders following them, which is a simple and pure faith. Do not think that faith and works are parallel. Some people have faith and only bear the fruit of faith ten years later. Just as Paul began to establish churches and preach the gospel fourteen years after believing in the Lord, during which time he did a lot of preparation and studied the Bible in depth. It is like we have spent more than ten years accumulating knowledge to clarify the Bible chapter by chapter. Why is our theology effective? Because it speaks of the way of faith. The way of faith is accompanied by signs and wonders.
Signs and Wonders Will Accompany Those Who Believe
Like the Apostle Paul, he performed many miracles. Before the proconsul Sergius Paulus, Paul caused the sorcerer Elymas to be blinded on the spot. Being able to instantly blind those who opposed the way of God shows that Paul's faith was beyond the reach of ordinary people. Because he had unwavering faith, signs and wonders always accompanied him, and Paul often performed miracles. Building faith is not difficult. Healing the sick through prayer is simple, but sometimes God leaves a little, which is also grace, guiding us to repent. Unbelief is the root of corruption, while faith is both simple and profound. Those who believe will have signs following them, and the sick will be healed by the laying on of hands because you believe, and because the one who ministers transmits faith.
Those Who Believe Can Be Justified
Justification is very important. If we always insist on "our own righteousness" and think that everything we do is right, we will fall into a misunderstanding. Even if we still have many shortcomings, as long as we choose to believe, God will count us as righteous. This is because we believe in Jesus Christ, God counts us as righteous, and demons have no legal right over us, and we can cast them out.
If we are still sinners, demons cannot be cast out. Now, through Jesus Christ who was crucified, we have peace through His punishment. We are healed through His stripes. We are redeemed through the precious blood of Jesus Christ. All of this was accomplished by Jesus Christ offering Himself to God. It is not because we have done enough, but because we are justified by believing in Jesus Christ, and the work of evil spirits in us will be completely eliminated.
Without Jesus Christ, we cannot be freed from the bondage of sin. We can be justified by believing in Jesus Christ, which is the way of God. But because of faith, we may still be terrible, we will still indulge the flesh, discern good and evil, and love the world, but demons can no longer rule over us. We are no longer troubled by sin and begin to walk on a path of sanctification and victory, gradually turning to the Lord and gradually overcoming. After believing, we may not feel strong for the time being, and people need the power of the Holy Spirit.
Those Who Believe Are Filled with the Holy Spirit
In Acts chapter 13, Paul elaborates on the truth about being filled with the Holy Spirit. Why are we filled with the Holy Spirit? Because the gospel we believe in is a gospel full of the Holy Spirit and power. These disciples gained spiritual power precisely because they were filled with the Holy Spirit. The core purpose of being filled with the Holy Spirit is to gain power. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is a key component of the gospel, not because the individual is outstanding, but because when you choose to believe, the Spirit of God will dwell in you. When the Holy Spirit fills you, you will naturally gain power. In the Book of Acts, Paul would ask wherever he went: Have you received the Holy Spirit? Have you been filled with the Holy Spirit? Do you pray in tongues? Although the Bible does not detail the specific procedures, the core is "faith."
Some people ask, how do you start praying in tongues or being filled with the Holy Spirit? If you don't believe, how can you open your mouth? In fact, it is not mysterious. Just open your mouth in faith and you can receive the Holy Spirit. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is the result of a person's thirst. People are weak and powerless, so after Jesus Christ resurrected and ascended to heaven, He gave the promised Holy Spirit. Without this, it would become a form of Buddhism.
Does a person of faith not believe that God can control everything? Some people think that evil spirits will come when filled with the Holy Spirit. As the scripture says, earthly fathers know how to give good gifts to their children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? What I preach is based on the Bible. I have led some people with weaker faith to receive the Holy Spirit. As long as you learn to pray in tongues and practice with faith, you will find that praying in tongues can indeed bring inner spiritual strength.
Those Who Believe Can Overcome
Remember, as long as you believe in victory, you will definitely overcome. You will never be put to shame on the path of faith. A sister once felt unable to control herself, and I suggested that she engage in a lot of Holy Spirit filling and praying in tongues when she felt out of control. It turned out that it was very effective every time she did this. This victory is based on faith in Jesus Christ and the power gained through the Holy Spirit. So stop saying "I can't control myself." Through faith and the power of the Holy Spirit, each of us can overcome in life.
For example, some people can't control themselves and become very fat. Maybe they are just chubby? What is chubby now was fat before. What was fat before is now chubby, and what is fat now is terribly fat. If you have become very fat and can't control yourself, I tell you that through a lot of prayer, the feeling of wanting to eat will disappear. This is super magical! Therefore, those who believe can overcome.
The Bible says: Who will deliver me from this body of death? Who will deliver me from this body of death? Paul said that it is possible through Jesus who loves us. You have to believe that it is possible through Jesus who loves us. How do you rely on Jesus who loves us? First, we must believe that we are justified through Jesus Christ. Through His punishment we have peace, through His stripes we are healed, and through His precious blood we are redeemed. This is not what you did, but what Jesus did. Believe that you have received it, and we will receive it. Then pray a lot in the spirit, and the effect will be very good. Then, in faith, enter into the truth under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and continuously increase our full confidence in understanding. Faith is eternal life. All who are appointed to eternal life walk this path. Those who believe have believed, and after believing, they will experience God's wonderful grace.
Those Who Do Not Believe Will Watch, Be Amazed, and Perish
Did they see the miracles performed by the Apostle Paul? Definitely saw them. To watch, and then not believe, isn't that amazing? After watching, they marveled at this power, seeing that prayer could make people walk, and felt it was amazing. But being amazed is useless. If you don't believe, you will still perish after being amazed. So people have not not seen miracles, but have seen many, but only stop at being amazed, and finally head towards destruction. Since they have seen it but do not believe, what else can be done? The truth is explained very clearly: those who believe can be justified, can cast out demons, and can be filled with the Holy Spirit. Once filled with the Holy Spirit, demons cannot stay. Of course, being filled with the Holy Spirit also has a process.
Those who believe can overcome and perform miracles. Many people are just watching the excitement, and still don't believe after watching. Our God has thus blocked the mouths of many people. When they are judged in the future, those people will say that God is unfair. God will say, "I let you experience miracles, and saw miracles, but you only treated them as amazement. What else can I give you if I don't let you perish?" Many people experience miracles, but still walk the path of destruction in the end.
As Many As Had Been Appointed to Eternal Life Believed
So today we must walk the path of faith and learn to walk the path of faith.
Amen! May God bless everyone!
